I was fortunate enough to be here during the sad spell few days ago, jumped, pool got hot, came back....and I am the cooler----blame me everyone.

got to love these super long, energy consuming, cost more in electrical consumption than actual reward blocks.  sweet chin music in my face !

second maintanance for the mining page today. Is there any Problem we should know about?

Other than being able to mine bitcoin for profit? Grin

If it's any consolation anytime I've witnessed the site go under maintenace it appears to come back where you would predict it to be at. I assume the site is simply a representation of the mechanics behind the pool's operations which are independant of it.

Yeah.  I have worked to keep my calm and not jump because of long blocks.  I learned that when I moved from Eclipse to here because Slush was right in the middle of a good string of good luck and I thought it was normal!  Still glad I moved, though.

My personal philosophy is that one of the good reasons to move pools is bad management.  I moved from Eclipse because of a protracted string of bad decisions and a protracted period of time that their system would not pay out properly.  I didn't know at the time that Eclipse has such a close relationship to BFL, so after learning that I will never go back there at all.  You have to have trust in the pool's management as the pool operator has the ultimate control.  If they appear to be dishonest in any way (like BFL's constant dishonesty) then THAT is a good reason to move.

I jumped around just build inventory and get a taste for mining a couple alts. Just as in real estate there's a cost to moving. From my experience I just stay with the pool and am in the process of acquiring other rigs to handle playing with alt coin so as not to be tempted to hop around for the sake of toying with alts.

I reckon that all the pool hoppers should jump ship about now. These 10 hour rounds and everyone staying are playing havock with my average shares  Cool

What shares? Are you working out your percentages of zero? Grin

I'm relatively new to this sort of situation. Does it often go to everything validated and just sitting in seek and destroy mode?

Dude, it's luck. Statistically it ought to be every 4 hours or so. It's a big internet and whilst we're waiting, someone is rolling 6's. the thing here is that no one says 'great; when we get 20 minute rounds. Sit tight, averages are just that, we'll be fine. Cool

While you're waiting you could be listening to some great music from Elisa Jordana  Wink

Just let developers do their job ... if it's 'maintenance' - it's not unexpected, so nothing to worry about

I just accessorized my miner with my lucky nickle on top. Things are about to improve.

better make that your lucky half dollar, this spell of bad luck needs some serious mojo reversal.

I wonder if slush powered down servers or disconnected something....my estimated rewards dropped to zero and is slowly working itself up.  also, did anyone notice the huge Th/s dropped from network ?

another thing, how long do these confirmations last ?  it seems like every time we run into "bad luck" blocks take extra long to confirm.

yeah, its about 1/4 the size it normally should be. ..  hopefully it was just a minor blip and it'll recalculate to what it should be.

estimated rewards are going down??

I don't think so. .   I think the previous calculation got messed up for the round so everything was reset. .. hopefully with the exponential calculation as the block continues will bring everyone back to the payout that should be for this round. ..   if it ends now, then it'll be pretty bad as they are all off, but I imagine if the block runs for at least another 20 minutes, it'll be back to close to where everyone should be.

Edit : I'm within 90% of where I'm usually at, so its corrected itself. ..  too bad the round is still going though. ..

Yes 20min longer round are enough for the score to 'catchup' after some changes, but if the round have ended earlier, we would see recalculation of the reward to correct that

Let it be... the 'hoppers' will 'hop' and our shares will go up.
Chill, it's simple Maths. We WILL return AVERAGE luck over the longer term.
