Thanks AFlatMinor - you guys are great! Thanks for the help. I would have been mining for days on and off for nothing. So what is the next best thing to slushs pool that will let me keep my rewards even if i dont finish the round etc. I was really keen on slushs but perhaps BTCGuild?

Back to load balancing again... Incredible how 10 mins into load balancing and expected Slush payout has halved despite 24 hours of full speed contributions! Hmmm...
You know, this is something... I have noticed the inverse as well - I plugged in a new miner 11 hours in, effectively doubling my hashrate, and an hour later the pool found a block and I got a payment proportional to if the new miner had been mining the whole 12 hours. It seemed my share of the payout was calculated on the past hour - not the whole 12 hours I had been mining at 50%.

Eklipse found block at a speed of 840Th. I think that somewhere we switched and we are working for someone else and not for yourself.

So what is the best PPS pool still around. I was going to go deepbit - but they don;t have stratum. Does BTC Guild only have PPLNS system now? If so would that work for me - when i switch off my miners, would my rewards remain? Thanks

Whats up i go on vacation and poof no work... Should have stayed on vacation.
I soooo miss being over 105% luck on this pool...it is like slush's pool is your crazy bi-polar girlfriend...sure the sex is great....but these 'cutoffs' out of spite...the 'evil/crazy looks'.....I mean really slush.....I just 'glanced' at that other pool it meant nothing! Searing I know what you mean... I have a bi-polar girlfriend. Great sex. Evil looks.

If slush's pool penalizes people for leaving not staying, whats to stop someone joining the round right at the end doing a few Gh/s then getting the same 'estimated reward' as they would if they were there mining all the time on that round? Is that how it works?

No, found it as part of the pool effort. It's the first time they've found one, quite chuffed

So slushs pool hasn't found a block since march? I am new to mining - i thought the pool found a block every 'round'?

Slush says: "Estimated reward"... meaning it's an estimation only.. from what I can see based on the current hashrate of your miner(s)
You don't get the "Estimated reward" at the end of the block but in most cases something close to that.
After finishing a block, which can take over a day as we witnessed multiple times recently, you´ll see the status of the block change to processing. Only then every share you participated is calculated and the final payout determined.
I´m not sure of the exact calculation method for the estimated reward but it seems that it´s related mostly to your average hashrate. This explains why the estimation start to drop to zero after you switch pools or switch off your miners. However upon finalizing the block you´ll still get your rightful share...
BTW it´s a know factor that payouts on Slush vary greatly, there´s simply not enough mining power (about 3 % of the total available) to sustain steady payouts.. so it all comes down to luck..
If you're looking for more steady payouts you should either opt for load balancing or entirely switch to a larger pool.

u need to stay a bit longer, be patient and try it out for at least 12 days,u will find out that each pool total payouts are more a like the same in long terms. take the estimated payout and multiply by the block found, and u will get the figures.

At a quick glance the last 10 blocks average is about 5 hours p/block. And that includes the 29 hour plus block. So yes, it's all about the long run. An no, we can't predict how long the current or next block will take so pool hopping is useless IMO.
