Slush says: "Estimated reward"... meaning it's an estimation only.. from what I can see based on the current hashrate of your miner(s)

You don't get the "Estimated reward" at the end of the block but in most cases something close to that.

After finishing a block, which can take over a day as we witnessed multiple times recently, you´ll see the status of the block change to processing. Only then every share you participated is calculated and the final payout determined.

I´m not sure of the exact calculation method for the estimated reward but it seems that it´s related mostly to your average hashrate. This explains why the estimation start to drop to zero after you switch pools or switch off your miners. However upon finalizing the block you´ll still get your rightful share...

BTW it´s  a know factor that payouts on Slush vary greatly, there´s simply not enough mining power (about 3 % of the total available) to sustain steady payouts.. so it all comes down to luck..

If you're looking for more steady payouts you should either opt for load balancing or entirely switch to a larger pool.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

u need to stay a bit longer, be patient and try it out for at least 12 days,u will find out that each pool total payouts are more a like the same in long terms.
take the estimated payout and multiply by the block found, and u will get the figures.

At a quick glance the last 10 blocks average is about 5 hours p/block. And that includes the 29 hour plus block.
So yes, it's all about the long run. An no, we can't predict how long the current or next block will take so pool hopping is useless IMO.

I can only provide info on the last 300 blocks over the last 52 days - and this 29:27:23 has been the longest (the other one was 28:03:52 hrs) and we are still on an average of 5.77 blocks per day with an average time of 4:11:40 hrs per block

I can live with this  Grin

Something I don't understand.

We just had a block that took 29.5 hours.
Then we had a block that took 33 minutes.
I only got paid 13 cents more for the block that took 29 hours ?

The little voice in my head is confused.
Could someone give me the short and dirty explanation ?

One block is one block, no matter how long it takes. The time includes trying to find a block also. Here are some links to other common questions. Keep on Mining!!!!

47%, 93%, 92%

Been mining with slush for 6 months - and to me this is the worst period of blocks found i have witnessed, Just wondering why?

I don't want to leave slush as the payouts are great, and the community is also good, but just being able to afford costs when the blocks found are dropping off.

Blocks are harder to find with the recent difficulty raises...that coupled with the small hash rate Slush has...then add in the fact that there is greater than 1 Ph/s of miners that hop between Slush and other pool/s.

It is what it is yo...I will probably set my RK-Box miner to BTCGuild or Eligius once my new Garden unit arrives as I will only loose a small % of my hash rate on Slush when doing so.

Happy mining all!

I'm with you brother, it was a nice ride but something has changed.  It could be the difficulty increase but seems that Ghash wasn't affected as much if that was the case.
I think I need more regular payouts even if they are a little smaller.
You know the old saying ? Slow and steady wins the race.
Sure the 10 block days that Slush has once in a while a great but the  Zero or almost zero days kinda cancel them out pretty quick.
I'm going to give Slush till the end of the week and if this long block business doesnt improve I'm afraid I'll have to go back to Ghash.
Did a quick calculation and I've already lost 85.00 this week alone by being here as opposed to Ghash.
Anyone else in the same boat ?

You get paid for each block found; time to find a block is irrelevant; found quickly or not is based on luck.
What you get paid for each block found is based (mostly) on the shares your miners contributed (how lucky they were)
On slush, reward also based on when you were mining the block if you weren't along for the whole ride (if you lose power and miners go down at beginning of round vs. going down at end of round you're luckier than vice-versa and your shares gained don't shrivel away)
So it depends on luck and luck and luck.

Well if that's the case then GHASH must have a horseshoe up their rear.  They keep plugging along at a steady pace and we are floundering.

Hey you ordered at BTC too! I however, plan to leave my RK on Slush and add my BTC VM-2 to SLush as well while movingmy R-boxes over to BTCGuild.
(BTW have my RK running very nicely now (hanging by chains from a wire rack with fans on all four outside blade heatsinks averaging temps of 39 C under full load at 350 freq and getting a steady 522 Gh/s wiht 8.6% errors). Smiley

Now if my Dragon miner would just arrive soon ...

What I meant by the first point is relative to pool hash rate but still true. Where round rates vary less on GHash (from seconds to hours) it's still based on luck. They hit the jackpot more because they bought more "lottery tickets" or have more pool hashing power (but how quickly still based on luck). Then of course each share is worth a lot less. But, at least you don't get penalized for dropping out during a round by your earned shares shriveling up.

I still dont quite understand what luck has to do with it , but whatever.
Yeah I have noticed the Slush hash rate varying quite a bit lately. People jumping to other sites when the blocks aren't coming, then coming back for whatever reason.
CEX 's rate seems to do nothing but climb, except for that incident a month or so ago when they announced they would keep their total rate under 39 % or something.
I know in the back of my head that it will PROBABLY even out in the long run, but the finish line is in sight as far as I'm concerned.
I dont think most miners will have the "time" they need.
With the soon to be skyrocketing difficulty people are going to find themselves at a negative ROI by Jan-Feb 2015.
So unless you have the latest power saving equipment or BTC price jumps dramatically ( which I don't think is going to happen ) I'm afraid a lot of people will find themselves stuck.
My self included, that's why I need the "steady" payout instead of hoping for the moon.

Start with slush, all seems great when the luck is good, hit a few long blocks for a week or so, jump ship to ghash, get bored of the "consistency", come back to slush and ride the up down  wave - at least it's not boring...

The point a lot people are missing is the clock it ticking.. Do you really think this " mining " is going to last more than 1 year or so before it becomes a losing enterprise for most people unless you have the latest and greatest hardware, an even then the payouts will be less and less.
In the near future when all the "BTC" have been mined and there are no more " rewards" for mining, what then ?

All BTC will "mined" within 5 years maybe less, then no more " block" rewards.
