I have confirmed that in the latest release - version 8 - there is an issue with running more than 3 RX 580s.
Ran the exact same command in version 7 and version 8: cast_xmr-vega -S <pool name> -u <addr> -G 0,1,2,3,4
Version 7 - Works perfectly fine, albeit performance is a little lower than expected.
Version 8 - Does not detect the fourth GPU. It detects the 5th one, which is weird. I've also tried with the --fastjobswitch, --forcecompute and --nonicehash parameters and that did not change the outcome.
Is anyone else having this issue? If so, is it a fix on your end or should I try to file a bug request with the dev?
Not knowing one thing about your setup or any other details, or anything you have tried, I would say that this is entirely your problem alone. The reason it's not detecting the GPU's would be most likely attributed to your setup and nothing to do with CAST-XMR Well I'm not the only one with the issue and it worked fine in a previous version... Maybe try to check one of your raisers? Risers are fine. If it was a riser, it wouldn't work in the previous version.

Hey all. I took a bit of a different approach to the hash drops and wrote a script to check and restart Cast_XMR as needed. Basically you set it up as a scheduled task and it will look at the current hash from Cast_XMR. If the hash rates are lower than what you set, it will kill the miner and restart it. I posted it on GitHub if anyone wants to have a look or try it out. It's written in VBS so it's pretty straight forward to step your way through the code and see what it's doing. https://github.com/tarvcode/Check-Cast_XMRLet me know if you have any comments or suggestions, I'm willing to spend some time tweaking this if anyone finds it useful. Best to PM me directly or comment on GitHub.

Not using any monitoring script for now. Just trying to make it work reliably, basically.
Failing mobo is like the thing you don't want to happen because it's the one variable you tend to always rule out when you have issues. On my two rigs of RX570's I've got some GPUs chugging at 1950MHz mem speed, while other keep crashing at 1850 and lower -h values (in Claymore). I can't think there's anything wrong with the GPUs, so it's gotta be risers... or the damn mobo.
Let's see how the Vega rig behaves...
No issues so far with version 0.7 and it has been 4 hours. @dragonmike I've been stable since yesterday and the only thing i changed was running Cast XMR v0.7 vs v0.8 How are things on your end? Very stable since I applied a soft power play table and realised I could finally increase mem voltage that way. Currently running the flashed 56's at 1966h/s avg, mem clock = 1125, 1.025V. That's a bit on the high side, powerwise (approx 200W per card) but I'll tweak a bit more when I have more time. At least now I'm happy I've found a stable setting that hasn't crashed for 3 days! That's great news! I'm back to square one though, at least now i know which GPU is failing...GPU0.

i'm having some good luck now with longer campaigns with un-modded 56 bios.
had 48 hours+ with afterburner at:
1464 core 925 mem +30 power (linked to temperature) fan on auto
problem is, I have one gpu very sensitive to too much temperature and i'll lose hashrate so, i had to downtweak that one a bit.
I fooled with another one:
1464 core 950 mem +30% power 55 maximum temperature unlinked to power 65% fans
this was pretty awesome, I was doing 1970 per gpu. However, again that one gpu sensitive to temperature lost hashrate after about 1 hour. I suppose if you got lucky and didn't have any offending gpu this would be good. or just downtweak the one that is sensitive. fans were loud tho.
Now, I'm going to start another campaign with settings that should feasibly be very stable:
1269 core 925 mem 0% power 50% fans 55 max temperature unlinked to power
1800 h/s for all 3 cards and very stable at about 155-160 watts per gpu at the wall. I like this one. The fans are on the quieter side and core throttling is nil. that was about as low as i could go on the power with this one or else the core would throttle.

Just wanted to say thanks to the cast-xmr team, great job on the miner! I just started mining with Sapphire PULSE RX 570 - 4 GB, Modded bios, GPU 1350 Mem 1950 running under 100W, i get ~890h/s on Monero with cast-xmr miner. The best i could do with sgminer and xmr-stak was around 800-820 h/s

Every GPU is different, lowering power and overclocking is highly dependent on the actual silicon inside the GPU as well as the memory type/brand/quality of memory chips. i highly suggest you to read https://mining.help and then the monero related section. You would have to tune every GPU separately, but its worth it at the end to have the optimal setup.
