Glad that block is behind us! kujayhawk and salcox, could you contact me about getting your mint race prize, please? Btw, dynamic avatar images not working in this forum anymore? Well this day of the 5th of sept we are making up for that slow block. we did 14 coins so far and there are still more then 5 hours left in the day. Maybe we can do 18 in one day!! CORRECTION MAKE THAT 15 COINS ON THE DAY! Does that break the record? Figures, one of my rigs is offline and im stuck at work until 6... EDIT: 17 now...

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Congrats! It's also a record. We've never had 17 blocks on the same (UTC) day before.

Should be done today I hope, but needs some testing too. I hope it will be up and running sometime this weekend. We'll find out soon.

I'm getting "Duplicate proof of work" rejects a lot in cgminer, but the rejects don't seem to show up in my bitminter stats. Are these shares really getting rejected? I've messed around with intensity (tried 13, 9 and 7 on cgminer 2.7.5), and it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any suggestions?

If you send in the same proof of work multiple times you'll get 1 accepted and no rejects - the work is, after all, accepted. If the network between you and the server is a bit unstable then this can happen once in a while and it's not harmful. If it happens often it could be a problem with the miner. Maybe something with your config?

Maybe something with your config? Thanks DrH, After running intensity 7 some of my cards crashed, so I upped the voltages and things seem to be working better now. Maybe this was indicative of hardware instability... Cheers!

The website is back up again. Sorry for the downtime this morning. It was only the website, mining was proceeding as normal. The web server process locked up and did not respond at all. im having all sorts of weird errors on top of the site being down...

If the BFL unit takes too long to respond you get a timeout message. If later it finally sends a response you get an "extraneous data" message because the miner is no longer expecting any response. If you get a lot of that it can be because your BFL units are throttling. When they throttle they stop responding for a moment.

It was at the same time when i noticed that the site was down, that I was getting these errors, one after another. but since then, its been fine, must of been a weird coincidence..

Very impressed with Bitminter! After hassling with the "disappearing window" bug in guiminer, and then unsuccessfully messing with various config/bat command line programs, it was a huge relief to have an easy to use gui that installed right away. OK I'm not as impressed now an hour later as I was when I wrote the above post! I've managed to get guiminer working again with Deepbit. There's one feature there that I don't see in Bitminter- guiminer (and Deepbit's website) gives me a running tally of the bitcoins I've minted. Bitminter doesn't seem to do that. Also I never got an email from the email confirmation robot. Finally having to use one of my existing accounts at another website seems sketchy. So for now I'm going back to Deepbit...

Yes, BitMinter also does that on the website. Your balance is shown on the "account details" page, the one you get to right after logging in on the website. Your balance is updated immediately when you get paid, which is when a block is created (with prepay on, which is default) or after it is later confirmed (with prepay perk turned off). Note that Deepbit is 3.5 times our hashrate, so blocks are not created as frequently on BitMinter. You can have the live stats play a sound every time a block is created so you can hear the coins dropping into your account. Live stats: http://bitminter.com/livestats/bigComplete block list: http://bitminter.com/blocks Also I never got an email from the email confirmation robot.
It may have ended up in your spamfolder. Or your mail server may have rejected it outright as spam. I never send spam, but you never know how mailservers will behave. Email has unfortunately become an unreliable medium of communication. We have 5000 users (50%) with confirmed email addresses. Email is optional so I don't know how many of the other 50% tried but failed to register an email address. Finally having to use one of my existing accounts at another website seems sketchy.
It's not sketchy at all. It's OpenID. It means you have one less password to remember. Also, some of the OpenID providers have cool features. With Google you can get two-factor authentication to make your accounts much safer. And it's free. Try it with Google Authenticator on your cellphone. That said, I do have old-fashioned name+password authentication on my TODO list, as well as Facebook login. This is low priority, though, as OpenID works very well and there are other more important issues to solve.
