It seems like CGMINER has a problem on Windows with the AMD A8-3850 GPU (BeaverCreek - 6550), if there are more cards in the PC.
I currently have HD5870 (device 0), HD5830 (device 1) and 6555 (device 2) installed and it works, if I use 3 Phoenix instances.
CGMINER only crashes, even if I only want to use -d 0 (5870). Any idea Con?

What about the sugesstion to be able to supply different worksizes to the GPUs with 1 CGMINER instance?

About a week ago the room where my rig is got pretty hot and I believe one of my 5970's sustained some hardware damage, the computer crashed (briefly I could smell molten plastic, not good!) and would crash every time I started up the miner again. I had isolated the problem to the first core of my first card and disabled it in cgminer. Now I am fiddling with it, and it appears to still work with the miner up to 385 MHz, at which point the rig crashes again. I'm not looking to push this core any further, this is probably as good as it's still going to get before it really dies...

But I do have a weird issue in this situation. The other 3 cores got loaded normally to 100% at intensity 8, until I re-enabled the first (much slower) core. With this core enabled, my linuxcoin desktop lags up much more than otherwise, while the other 3 cores only sustain around 85% load until I disable the first core again. When I run a separate instance for the first core with dynamic intensity, and one instance for the other 3 cores together at intensity 8, the problem is fixed. I suppose this is just due to the bad core?

It isn't that simple.
Yeah, I'm still having trouble getting the ATI SDK to work under Ubuntu 11.04.  The articles I find are useless and the readme in the SDK doesn't even match the filenames!   Tongue

You may be interested in http://forums.amd.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=125792 (first post in the thread); worked like a charm for me in debian...

Also, heads-up @ckolivas: in debian testing, when running autogen, I keep getting these:
Code:
configure.ac:136: warning: AC_LANG_CONFTEST: no AC_LANG_SOURCE call detected in body
../../lib/autoconf/lang.m4:194: AC_LANG_CONFTEST is expanded from...
../../lib/autoconf/general.m4:2591: _AC_COMPILE_IFELSE is expanded from...
../../lib/autoconf/general.m4:2607: AC_COMPILE_IFELSE is expanded from...
configure.ac:136: the top level
configure.ac:139: warning: AC_LANG_CONFTEST: no AC_LANG_SOURCE call detected in body
../../lib/autoconf/lang.m4:194: AC_LANG_CONFTEST is expanded from...
../../lib/autoconf/general.m4:2591: _AC_COMPILE_IFELSE is expanded from...
../../lib/autoconf/general.m4:2607: AC_COMPILE_IFELSE is expanded from...
configure.ac:139: the top level
[...]

I know they aren't fatal, but I assume from what I've read that not using AC_LANG_SOURCE is deprecated, so I'm wondering whether you could fix this.

I would like to take time to acknowledge the awesome effort put in by ckolivas on cgminer, the time and dedication put into helping us mine cannot be underestimated.
It has been an honour and a priviledge to have ckolivas mining on ozco.in and in our irc chan
Watching Ycros and ckolivas working together to optimise both cgminer and Ozcoin's pool software has been awesome. This is also a benefit to cgminer's users on other pools and other mining software used on  Ozcoin Smiley
We have miners in UK, Europe and US all reporting consistent low stales
Great work guys!

I look forward to a windows build too Smiley

If you look back a few pages, you will see i compiled an unofficial 1.5.3 version for windows, which works compared to the one ycros made, which doesn't. I can compile 1.5.4 as well, but since ckolivas is here, i am sure he will provide a windows binary of 1.5.4 himself.

Don't be so sure. The windows binaries till now have been provided by Ycros, not me. I've never compiled anything on windows before and spent a day yesterday trying to do it in a virtual machine and have so far failed. I will keep trying today but if I give up in disgust then I may ping you for your help. Alas I don't know you that well so the web of trust between us needs to be built up for me to be happy to distribute your binaries.

Thanks for 1.5.3 Smiley
ckolivas has never done the windows build, it has always been someone else, for quite a while Ycros was doing the windows and mac builds, he seems to be busy with life at the moment,
So if you have the skills I am sure your build would be most welcome Smiley

Well, he did say he switched to mingw64 and that is when all the problems with his binaries started.

I see. Well I can't even get it compiling on mingw32. Can't figure out how to install the remaining dependencies of libcurl though I've installed it 10 different ways and even ended up building it myself which took hours. Gotta remember I haven't used windows in over a decade in any meaningful way.

It actually isn't easy to build cgminer for me either. I wish it was as easy as downloading and then cd <path> and so forth.
Once i download it, i must replace the path to my opencl headers to a direct path, as it seems it can't find them otherwise. Then i must edit or replace configure.ac so that opencl is enabled by default otherwise configure.ac doesnt enable it despite the correct paths done in ./configure

Ah, so it's not just me then.  ^_^  I knew something wasn't right with those header files.  It kept flat out telling me that it couldn't find the files in the path specified by ldconfig.

Okay so I had some generous people offer me BTC online to get the windows binary version working, and I DID see someone offer a BTC bounty to get the windows binary working, so I've fluffed around for the last 2 days on a windows virtual machine to build some win32 binaries.

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-1.5.4-win32.zip

Hopefully people appreciate the effort.

What happened to 4way algo?

Edit: Actually a lot of cpu algorithms aren't working. Does an x64 version need to be compiled for them to work?
