buy antiminer S1 will ROI or not?

Currently, no.  The BTC price and difficulty make it impossible to ROI at the moment.  Time to just buy BTC.

You mean your electricity price. I am quite sure someone in WA at 0.027c /kWh could get positive ROI.

Where do you get that price from?

I tried looking here, but don't see it:

http://www.eia.gov/electricity/monthly/epm_table_grapher.cfm?t=epmt_5_6_a

Even at that low electrical cost, this is before BFL, KNC, Asicminer, and Black Arrow shipped their hardware.

Cool link, it actually shows close to what I pay.

Mine averages out to $.08c/kwh if you include all fees,etc... Recently paid $200 for 2500kwh.

It's even cheaper during Nov-Feb winter months.

Sorry guys, but at the current exchange rate they don't sell well, 0.5 would be a fair price.

Lets say that 50 BTC represnts 56 antminer S1s (at current price of 0.893BTC)

56 Ant S1s, all overclocked to 200 GH/s = 11,200 GH/s or 11.2 TH/s

The current network hash rate is ~45,023,559 GHs or ~45,024 TH/s

So... that new 11.2 TH/s represents a 0.02% difficulty increase, not 100% Wink

Hi, mine arrived today but is Antminer Rev 1.5 2013/12/16 I hoped it was Rev 1.6 2014/1/4 . Now I am waiting the power supply 12V 50A, ordered a few days ago, to test the unit.
What Antminer rev. are those delivered to you lately?

Thanks in advance W_M

Just update the firmware... its easy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIAvtb2SnJY

Any particular benefit to updating to the latest firmware on the S1?

Have 3 new ants running that arrived Saturday, same stamp on the PCB 2013/12/16, be sure to check the kernel log after you get your PSU before flashing anything, mine were all updated to the new 2014/2/7 at the factory....

You don't think of it as  paying  0.893 you pay $400US which you convert to BTC just for the purchase  and the chances of making back $400 are pretty good, especially when you factor in the resale value.

Looking at their sales just over 300miners sold now in last 12hours after sales opened again, US is only waking up. Least that many agree with you. As so do I.
Resale value is over 400$ still. While Bitmain sales were halted for few days, everywhere you saw posts "where can I buy one" and current resale price was going over 500$
