So that's a question I have. I'm looking to move my RX570 off Win10 and into Linux. Is there a preferred flavour of linux? Can I go with Mint over Ubuntu?
Is there a walkthrough of preferred Linux settings (i haven't really found one. mostly Windows ones)
Why not try one of the specific mining Linux OS's such as HiveOS, Simplemining, etc. no need to struggle learning Linux, and these can run from USB sticks if you wish so no need to loose your Windows installation. I play around with Linux on and off. But would running from a USB stick work? I guess I'm thinking in terms of Windows here, but it seems you need to have enough virtual memory space or HD space to accommodate the DAG. Not a problem within one of these like HiveOS? Just put on USB, boot and load lolminer? Seems like dark magic you speak of. Linux is so much better at resource management its not even funny

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

On linux im getting 28mhs... on 570-4gb in slot 0....using lolminers 1.22 13-14 on the rest in the rig.

HiveOS & Simplemining are both intended to run from USB sticks but can also be run from hard drives if you wish, I run HiveOS from an SSHD. https://hiveos.farm/https://simplemining.net/

Thinking I might load up Ubuntu Desktop, install AMD drivers and then run lolminer.

How many rigs do you have? 1 rig is always free with HiveOS.

On SMOS both versions 1.23 and 1.24 crash on each 4GB card, no matter what value for --4g-alloc-size parameter is set. Version 1.22 works well except 560 cards, there it often goes to 0 hash and the rig freezes. Again, I tried many parameters from 3900 to 4080. Sometimes 560 starts, sometimes not. And after several hours it goes to 0.

Yeah, I have done some tests here and concluded the same thing, "On SMOS both versions 1.23 and 1.24 crash on each 4GB card,".

was running at 18.3MH/s on 1.22 but 1.23 only gave me 8.5mh/s. Auto settings doesn't work for this card. I had to add --4g-alloc-size 4078 parameter to get it back to 18+MH/s
Where did you see 1.23, I only see 1.22 here and on github page Use 1.24a it has some fix updates

Good result. I think the third card isn't performing as the first two because of the RAM. If lolminer is using the RAM to compensate the vRAM missing, maybe at least 16gb RAM are needed, possibly 3200mhz so they are fast.

Thanks, but this is not the memory, somthing else, here is the specs of the MoBo Expansion Slots: 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (Single at x16, dual at x8/x8, ) 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode, ) - i think that is the reason why the third works on smaller hashpower 3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x1

Hi,
I am using lolMiner window version now. Because one display card is not stable, it sometimes halts system. How can I know which display card is the reason leading to halt system?
Does it have any Log saved hints in lolMiner?

You have to see which cards goes to 0. Also if you make a loop in the bat file, the 2nd run will not mine with the death card... You can also put here your OC values to see if some of it is too low.

In order to perform almost like 8gb card we need x8 lines for each 4gb card. I do have ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ only, with only one PCI-e x16 slot. I placed a 4gb card in that socket without risers and it is giving me 28.5 mhs. All the other cards are on risers, the 8gb cards are running full speed for obvious reasons and for the remaining cards I am mining another coin...

I see what you mean the first suggestion. However, my window system crashs the whole system and halts, not just stops the lolminer, but the whole win10. I need to reboot win10 after I discover this halted situation.

You can add the --log on parameter to your *.bat file. The logs will be collected in the logs folder and you can study it at any time and find out which videocard has problems.
