We have been doing much better today.  Blocks are ours much more often now.
 Grin

Luck is luck. Switch if you want but consider last 24hr stats.

Blocks found      Hashrate                Ratio blocks/hashrate

GHash.IO    43   8.37 Ph/s               5.1
BTC Guild    35   5.98 Ph/s               5.8
Eligius    23   Stats not loading     3.9 (used same as btcguild)

I guestimated eligius hashrate since the stats are down, but last I checked it was close to or higher than btcguild. So for the last 24hr i'd say btcguild is the best.

Well what you could do , if your hardware allows, is point some of your hash rate say 50% at 1 of the big three and and some at the second largest pool ~ 25% and the last 25% at the 3rd highest pool. Think its called covering the spread. that way one way or another you'll get btc that day.

I'm going to be forced to switch to Eligius because my reward is so little these days. Not like I wanna go but no choice these days. And I read all over "Much more to come - please be patient". Yea, been a year bud. How much more patient?
I know, I know, you'll all hate to see me go.

Opentoe you've been threatening to go to another pool for many weeks. You even said you had done so at one point.

Put your money and your hashing power where your mouth is. Drop a post card. Good luck. Wink

I got some info I have to follow up on that a couple of private farms just brought large multi petihash farms online in the last couple weeks. If I get this verified I will post about it.

The "Unknown" category has grown at Blockchain.info's Hashrate Distribution report. I know it's not entirely accurate, but the Unknown category has either benefitted enormously from a bout of luck or it has expanded greatly.

KNC moved it's private farm (2-3+ PH/s now I believe) off Eligius and went solo mining in the last week or two (hard to remember, Bitcoin time doesn't feel like real time).  So that added a big chunk to 'Unknown'.

They were not the only one's.
Apparently there were a couple more that came online and are coming online.  I did get an email back from one private group who will let me possibly do an interview with them once they are done bringing theirs online and up to speed.
It is an exciting time.
My only worry is that in all reality it just puts mining more and more out of the average persons reach.  I have 100 gh/s total and even though it is not much it usually when BTCG's luck is good makes me about .02 a day a current difficulty.
I really hope I can get more gear but it seems these big farms will concentrate the bitcoins into fewer hands.

You aren't going to do better at Eligius.  In fact, you'll probably do worse because they don't do NMC merged mining

Really? All those NMC that keep on appearing in my wallet from Eligius must be a figment of my imagination, then?  Huh

That was my error.  The Eligius help is misleading and hard to use.

Can someone tell me why there's a difficulty adjustment setting for workers in the pool?  I don't get what it does and in what circumstances would you need (or want) to change it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Statistically speaking, changing the worker difficulty won't affect your expected earning.

low difficulty => more valid shares found, lower variance, higher bandwidth usage
high difficulty => less valid shares found, higher variance, lower bandwidth usage

IIRC, btcguild will adjust your worker difficulty automatically, according to your hashrate.

Two reasons I can think of:

Fast workers can be set high so they don't have to do a bunch of low level work before vardiff kicks in.

Vardiff sometimes switches difficulty back and forth constantly due to normal variance in my workers that must be right on the edge of a vardiff calculation. Setting it manually stops this.

Also, some mining hardware doesn't work well with the auto step ups of the difficulty with vardiff.  If you have some of that hardware, you're better off setting the proper min difficulty.

No, earnings are always an 'all time' figure.  If you want to "reset" what you've earned, pay out your full balance (manual payout), which will put your unpaid balance to 0.00000000.
