~ on the other hand Warner got bowled by Ben stokes but it turned out to be no ball. Surprisingly Ben stokes stepped out of the line 4 times at the same over but third umpire finally woke up when Warner got bowled.
Automated front-foot technology has failed to detect the no balls. Ben Stokes has delivered a lot of no balls today and all of those no balls was considered as right ball as the technology was broken. Only three of his no balls was detected by the umpires. I believe Ben Stokes would have changed his running stapes if the technology detected the no balls of his early deliveries. Australia has taken a good lead, most probably they will win the match.

After England lost all their wickets for just 147 runs, Australia collected 343 runs at the end of the second day, they lost 7 wickets. They are 196 runs ahead of England. Travis Head is still at the crease, he is unbeaten on 112 runs. If Australia can take a 250-run lead, they have a chance to win. England played so badly in the first innings that the entire match is now under Australian control. They will win this match easily if they do not make any big mistake.
As one of the fastest centuries ever in the Ashes, Terrific Head's century was joint-third fastest. It was an innings that basically reinforced Australia's dominance in the test so far. As long as Head can continue to bat, it won't be a big deal to reach 150+ runs. Yeah, England played really poorly! There are now questions regarding Ben Stokes. England will be at a disadvantage if he continues to play with an injury. As long as Travis Head stays at the crease, Australia's collection will continue to grow. If he is out, other batsmen will not be able to stay in the crease for long. With the exception of Warner, Labuschange and Head, no other batsman has been able to collect more than 12. Australia will win this match. I don't think England's players will make a big splash in the second innings.

It is team Bangladesh. After losing all their wickets for just 87 runs in the first innings, they started batting in the second innings today. They lost 4 wickets in just 25 runs. With such a weak team and weak batting lineup, it would have been better not to play a Test series against a strong team like Pakistan. Bangladesh should have played T20 and ODI series against Pakisthan. Then they could fight a little.
If the team can't win or perform well in the test matches, don't expect any better performance from them in T20's and ODI's. After bangladesh scored 86 runs only in the first innings and were followed on, there was no way they could save the match. They showed a poor performance in the WC previously and now the recent series was a complete disaster for them. I don't know how can Bangladesh be so inconsistent in their performance and that also at the very same venues, at once they will beat the world t20 champions in a t20 series by 3-2 and immediately after that they will get defeated from Scotland and struggle to even play respectable cricket in front of other teams. If they want to become a good team on the international stage, they have to become consistent for the least, you obviously cannot be so inconsistent in your performances in same format and expect the world to think of you as a great team, currently Bangladesh gets to play against top cricketing nations only because of their viewership otherwise their performance isn't worth that lately. Although Pakistan won the series but I do wish Bangladesh should have performed better. The only way teams could do better and learn from their mistakes is when they have been given the equal opportunity by the ICC to play a series against different teams. After this series, when is the next series plan for Bangladesh? Shakib Al Hasan is my favorite batsman in the team and he performed well. Bangladesh need more of domestic cricket and more international matches and they would become much better team. Bangladesh performance in this test match was the worst one. Getting beaten by an innings and eight runs at home ground suggest there is a big problem with this team. Sajid Khan bowled impressively for Pakistan, he took eight wickets in the first innings and then 4 wickets in the second innings. This might be his best bowling figure in an international match. 2-0 wipeout in their home ground suggests the Bangladesh board needs to make many things correct with this team. True. I think Bangladesh has to build a test team from scratch, they have good limited over teams because of the premier league in action, they get good players from there but for test cricket you need good level first-class cricket going on in your country which isn't really the case with Bangladesh. Their national cricket league hasn't been able to give their youngsters very much exposure to first clas ~ on the other hand Warner got bowled by Ben stokes but it turned out to be no ball. What's the use of this modern technology when you still cannot be accurate in your decisions, these small things affect the matches so much these days, especially in the t20s. If third umpire is too occupied with other things, they should just have one extra person looking for no balls.

English batting line up is completely crap just alone Root can't survive every time, and we have some good hype about Stokes return, but all forget he is coming into test cricket after very long gape, so he needs some good practice before doing any good thing. Right now, Australian batting is also having not special but still Warner, Labuschange and Head are on target for them which is very good and positive after watching first English and then Australian batting now I am feeling Australia can whitewash them without any big trouble just rain can give them some room, otherwise they have nothing bad this time in the Ashes. Or may be rain is second option for having something better.

They clarified by saying that tech was not working at all and they went to old era technique which is on field umpires call but sounds bizarre clarification considering it took them 14 frigging no balls to act. Now imagine same scenario if it was any subcontinent country. There was big possibility of most of the cricketing world especially SENA countries reaction would be at spot fixing allegation and nonsense demands for bowler's head, including match officials integrity and spirit of the game.

May be the third umpire was sleeping or he was not having the footage to call the no ball, the third umpire is responsible for these front foot no ball i believe. Australia is in a good position and David Warner once again missed his century but he played well but Travis Head surprised me as he was playing as it is an T20 or ODI striking at over 120 and he is still in the crease and by morning they will be having a 200 runs lead and it is going to be a difficult match for England to recover in this match.

Third empire was sleeping or not good thing it's all happening in Australia and match between Australia vs England so media will also not highlight and ICC and relative Boards will also quite because it's all about failure of technology. If this can have any link with Sub-Continent specially with Pakistan then surely it's going to be spot fixing case and all guns start firing against Pakistan because it's the easiest victim for them. Now it's all in control of Australia their batting done some better job, and they have 197 lead with 3 wickets still in hand and Head is on crease so if they will take 55 to 60 more runs than it's going to be very difficult for England to avoid inning defeat because their batting line up is very bad for this series, and they can't handle quality bowling of Australia with Cummins, Start and Hazelwood all on fire.

Just checked the highlights of this test match. Australia is in a good position at the moment. They have a lead of 197 runs and they will try to take it to 300 if possible as not too many wickets left now. Still better than the English team, what pathetic batting from them they could not even score 150.

Travis Head passes the 150 mark in Tests for the second time in his career! As a result, Australia posted a 400+ total and led by 278 runs. Australia retaliate with Malan and Root after losing 2 wickets in the afternoon session. Dawid Malan and Joe Root must both bat well. Despite Australia's strong chances of winning, anything can happen.

Australia finished their innings with 425 runs and they were leading by 278 runs. England are surprising everyone in their performance in the second innings. Although the two openers did not play well, Malan and Root's extraordinary batting skills helped England collect 204 runs, losing only 2 wickets. Although they are still 74 runs behind. The match will be competitive till the last innings if they can continue batting so well. Now the game of season 3 is going on on the third day.

Day's first session will be challenging hence I will not be surprised if I need to see that England to be losing all their remaining 8 wickets in two sessions. Still, if Australia need to chase anything beyond 250 runs then I guess England will get chances to take the lead of this Ashes series. I guess playing like counter attack will help any batsman for better scoring and we have already seen Head cracked a century that way. I guess we can expect expect a cameo from Ben Stokes to turn this match on England favour but Australia will not give up that easily hence we can expect more exciting test cricket days for next 2 days if weather allows.

England will lose a few more wickets very quickly if the two batsmen at the crease are out in the first session. If England are able to deliver more than 250 targets tomorrow then both the teams will have a good chance to win on the fifth day.

This is beauty of test cricket, first 2 days Australia was in command and suddenly third day we have England is some better position and if Root and Malan stay some more time than surely we are going to have very entertaining end of this first of The Ashes test. Right now partnership is already 159, and now they need some more time on crease for having good hand in this match which was slipping very badly after two days play. Currently, England trailing by 58 runs with 8 wickets in hand and two set batsmen on crease mean very good fight back from them, and it's very good for rest of this series. Nathan Lyon's wait for his 400th wicket is getting late now it's more than 11 months, he stuck on 399 and becoming fourth player in Australian test history with 400+ wickets.

Full credit goes to Root and Malan for lifting England up in the second innings but damage done by Australian bowlers in the first innings is huge. Though England looks good but I think they are still not in full command. Favorite for this game is still Australia unless England set target of 400 which right now looks not possible.

Agreed. Root and Malan are playing well at the moment, but these partnerships usually end pretty quickly after a break and I am not expecting much from the rest of the English lineup. They will probably give them a lead of around 100-150 runs. It all comes down to how well Australia performs in the 2nd innings since the English bowling lineup shouldn't be underestimated.

Good comeback by the English team, they only trail by 49 runs. Root is still going strong and in this manner, he should reach his hundred. Malan is out for 89 and I was thinking that these two guys will continue and put on some runs lead. In my opinion, Root needs to stay on the wicket till England has a good lead.

Finally after 366 days Lyon gets his 400th wicket, very happy to see spin brigade ticking every checklist in recent times. Ashwin doing what he does best. Ajaz Patel did the impossible. Sajid Khan spinning web. Now GOAT hit the big milestone.
Gabba's 3rd day pitch was perfect to bat on and English batters did everything right, Malan rode his luck and was extremely lucky to survive on countless occasion including -bat & pad- call (no one appealed at all. Root is one man army for the England. As of now Poms are struggling and they lost 4 more wickets of Malan, Root, Pope and Stokes and trailing 12 runs.
Edit Excellent batting display from the England, mammoth target of 20 runs. Australia is in big trouble.

Excellent batting display from the England, mammoth target of 20 runs. Australia is in big trouble. LOL... Before the start of the series, 90% of the users here were saying that England is going to whitewash Australia. And look at what happened. Australia very nearly pulled off an innings victory. BTW, I haven't seen too many posts congratulating Pat Cummins. We can't ignore his contribution here (both as the captain, and as the opening bowler). He made his test debut 10 years ago, at the age of 18 years. And this is very rare in Australia, where the selectors normally doesn't consider players for national team selection until they are 21-22 at least. And I guess he was the last teenager to make debut for them.

England batting again collapsed in the 2nd innings. When Dawid Malan and Joe Root were batting at 80+ each I thought they could turn the game around for England, but none of the remaining England batsmen were able to show any big performances and Australia easily won this test match.
