He's not a kid anymore. He's 28. I'm expecting him to be matured. Maybe he thinks as a former NBA D league, he can demand what he wants. And you are right, those things should be confidential but why bring it to the media. To pressure the management? It won't work as whatever he is, he's still a rookie.

MVP is not that dumb not to take care of him if he will show great performance and being a good contributor to the team. He just need to show what he got.

This player think like a superstar that deserve a good salary, 300k is too high for PBA since they have a capped, so why would he force himself to play in PBA if he is expecting a higher salary, if he really like bigger salary, then he should play in an international league, that's the only answer.

He has the value, but it's not right to ask for too much that is already out of the maximum, that's just stupid of him, it's like TNT is hiring staff and he is the best candicate but he want a role of the manager, that doesn't make sense. I guess TNT here will just let this player go and look for other deserving players, pretty sure there's more who have a better skills and willing to start with a smaller salary.

TBH, I don't think that there is something wrong with a rookie asking for a higher salary since in the end it will depend on the team management if they will give it or not. One thing more is I don't think that it is right to tell a professional player a kid just because of this. Attitude problem?? I rather call this "his confidence is at a next level" .

I have not read anything prohibiting us or anyone on calling a pro basketball player a kid. I call him kid because i think he is on his early 20's like most of the draftees but it has nothing to do on him asking that amount for a salary.

I do think different from you and him asking for a non-standard salary is a problem. The definition of PROBLEM in the industry is deviation from standard and that is what he is doing now. Not a good first step for a rookie. He might paly good basketball in the US but the style of play in the PBA is very different and he might nor fit that's why i said he should first prove his worth.

These news that has been published lately has been telling us that PBA will commence soon, they are planning already of a practice, so they probably are looking for the commencement next month or the following month. The problem is already their, they just need to find a better solution so they can start the season, and as a fan, all we can do is just hope and pray that they'll successfully open the season.

Under the deal, Williams, 28, will be receiving a total of P5.4 million in the next two years, including a monthly salary of P250,000 in his sophomore season.

Good that they ended up getting him because he can be a huge part of the team now that Ray Parks isn't playing. He might not get the 300,000 monthly salary that he wants, he got a max contract and a higher salary at his 2nd year and not only that, he also got a telecommunication franchise.

Both coach have their own opinions, but yes coach Norman might get offended from that statement,
Meralco is there to compete though unable to win the title but they are doing their best to reach the finals or the semis.

With coach Yeng, he might expressing his frsutrations not only with the league but also sending his message to his franchise owner trying to express that 4 teams have better squad.

We can't blame coach Yeng on how he felt at the moment. He tried very hard to build a championship team in NLEX but with just a blink of an eye, his prized center (Erram) was traded to TNT which i think opposite to his vision on the team. They can't win championship without a legit big man that can match JMF15 or the other center, that is why he think that the PBA is just a four team race lol.

But of the other side, he is just so pessimistic as anything can happen if he would just focus and motivate his team that the season is an open race just like the thinking of coach Norman Black.

That's already a decent salary for a veteran, that's Php 225,000 on a monthly basis, higher than the max salary of a rookie which is only PHP 200,000. he deserved that salary, and I think it was already rumored that he will come back under the new coach, and finally it has already come into reality.

Maybe the issue with Ray Parks not signing for the team, open up an opportunity for new players and Williams could be one of the beneficiary.

There's no confirmation yet, but that news you shared is probably a good start and PBA will have to remain hopeful as eventually they will also be allowed. PBA is not different from other leagues, it has physical contact and therefore they should be treated the same.

In PBA, being optimistic, being hungry, being motivated, etc. are not enough to compete especially in All-Filipino Cup where there are no dominant imports that can lift up and carry a certain low to mid tier teams. Coach Yeng is just being realistic. They need a strong powerhouse cast to fulfill that being optimistic and motivated. This isn't a movie wherein just being a believer can be turned into success.

NLEX good players are being traded to their sister team, the top team of MVP which is TNT KaTropa.

NLEX, even just a speculation, is a farm team of top MVP team.

Not checking the history but Meralco, also an MVP team, not sure if already got involved in a trade between NLEX.

Though NLEX belong to the MVP group of companies, still they have to get into a normal process of getting more talented players and i think what frustrate coach Yeng is that TNT is the priority of the three MVP teams and NLEX is somewhat a farm team at the moment. I won't be surprised if K. Ravena would be traded to TNT in case Mikey Williams can't fulfill the duty that is expected of him.
