I have to say I have not been very impressed with Erling Haaland. At least not so far. I know he’s a competent player but it feels like he will take a period of time to get settled in the team. It's too early to judge him, do that after 15 games because the league hasn't started yet, he's new to the league and environment, and you don't expect him to start on a high note in his first game because strikers from the Bundesliga typically struggle to adapt to the intensity of the league quickly. It'd take some time. We have seen some disasters happen. Especially when players from the Italian league come to play in the English Premier League with high expectations. They did not do very well. I hope this won't be one of the disasters. He is a talented player but I think he needs time to get settled and used to the English Premier League coming from the Bundesliga. It has not yet happened! Will you allow the dude to kick the ball at least once before passing judgment? I'm not a huge fan of Halaand, and as a rival fan, I wouldn't want him to do well because I want to beat his team to the trophy this season, but I won't banter a player who has 0 appearance
BTW ; This is what the Premier League is all about: a beautiful and epic game between Arsenal and Crystal Palace. The Arsenal team controlled the game very well in the first half but appeared tired in the second half; they were fortunate to have taken 3 points tonight after Crystal Palace's last 30 minute attack; they were in complete control until Guehi's own goal. I believe their own goal cost them the points. G.Jsesu flopped BTW!

^ Results for Sunday's fixtures so far: Leicester 2 - 2 Brentford Manchester United 1 - 2 Brighton It's first time Brighton won a match vs United in all competitions, in all their match ups. It's really quite a fear for Graham Potter for beating all odds. I guess it's going to be one long season for Manchester United supporters? They will not be calling for the head of their manager this season. It's gonna be the owners'.

It seems Ten Hag will have to turn things around fast otherwise fans and commentators will be asking for him to be sacked but their fans will always be asking for the owners to sell up and move on as they have been making so much money out of the club and putting them in debt. Well, the history of the relationship between the current owners of Manchester United and the fans of the club is a separate story that has been going on for more than one year and I still have no idea what should happen to the club so that the owners still sell the club. Nevertheless, the example of Barcelona shows that the club can quite comfortably exist as long as there are people and organizations who agree to lend money. Yet Manchester United, like Barcelona, has quite a glorious and rich history. Here the whole question is how much the club management agrees to tolerate while Ten Hag will build the team's game. Still, I have more doubts about the future of the head coach of the team in the event of an unsuccessful performance of the club in the coming months than the owners in the club.

I guess it's going to be one long season for Manchester United supporters? I think this match was like a nightmare for Erik Ten Hag. Man United performed poorly and struggled to keep up with Brighton's aggressiveness. A coach with only arrogance will never succeed here, this one puts Eriksen as a striker when we know he is not a striker. Ronaldo looked displeased from the bench when David De Gea conceded The lack of long-term planning at Old Trafford is alarming. The season has already started, and MU is panic buying an aging striker. Ten Hag keeps spending money on average players, they are not even close to average. United midfield is the worst in the league. United needs a big improvement in the next match, this is EPL and much talk isn’t needed.

I can see that Ten Hag talks a lot, but then in practice he shows little. Ronaldo plays better without having done pre-season and not being in the best physical shape, than the other players who made the team lose. I think Man United's problem is more related to direction/structure than to the players themselves. When you start to have a lot of disgruntled people on the team, it's hard to get good results.

That isn't the mood anymore. The supporters are now blaming the owners. Lmaooo. They've already blamed the managers, some of the players and Ed Woodward. They've had multiple changes in managers, hundreds of millions spent in transfers and Woodward minimizing his say in player acquisitions. And we still see the same thing. It looks like another couple of years of nothing. :/ The last spot in the top 4 will be fought be West Ham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United with Arsenal getting it imho.

I read this several times but could make out anything that you were to express especially with the Barcelona comparison. The lack of long-term planning at Old Trafford is alarming. The season has already started, and MU is panic buying an aging striker. Ten Hag keeps spending money on average players, they are not even close to average. United midfield is the worst in the league. United needs a big improvement in the next match, this is EPL and much talk isn’t needed. They had their offer for the striker Arnautovic turned down by his club. At 33 years old he cannot be the solution for the problems. I do not think Ten Hag spent money on average players, he brought players he believes will be good buys and will contribute to the squad.

Arsenal have met my expectations for the last 2 years with their squad quality, technical team decisions, the atmosphere and youth spirit, and beyond that, they are taking firm steps towards becoming the Arsenal we are longing for. Arteta, who grew up in the kitchen of Chef Guardiola, gives hope.
We haven't seen such a good and young player community together in a long time. Last year's surprise transfer Ramsdale proved himself as a s tier goalkeeper. The team is holding up well. There doesn't seem to be a wall in defense yet, but Salibu, White, Gabriel fabric are good players. In fact, it is necessary to open a separate parenthesis for Salibu, this boy will blow the minds of the forwards in defense. Defense issues can be resolved.

He seems to talk sense most of the time, after all English is not his native or first language but could it really just be a matter of replacing the owners, getting funding for the players the manager wants to buy then giving the manager time to get the team to gel together? There are no excuses for managers at big clubs, Ten Hag will probably not be given time by the fans and the owners if his players do not start winning games. I am usually of the opinion that the coach should be given time to get his system up and running. The thing is, there seems to be a heavy atmosphere in the squad. And that attitude should have already changed from the past to this new one. And it seems that the coach has not yet managed to change that environment, looking like a loser.

That loss at home to Brighton will hurt Ten Hag and also the Manchester United fans. The players are having problems working together and something needs to change fast otherwise the manager will find it difficult there. Here are the Betfair odds for the first Premier League manager to leave his job: Frank Lampard - 4/1 Ralph Hasenhuttl - 9/2 Jesse Marsch - 6/1 Brendan Rodgers - 15/2 Marco Silva - 9/1 Steven Gerrard - 11/1 Bruno Lage - 12/1 Scott Parker - 12/1 Eddie Howe - 12/1 Thomas Tuchel - 14/1 Patrick Vieira - 16/1 Mikel Arteta - 16/1 Steve Cooper - 20/1 Erik ten Hag - 20/1 (WAS 33/1) He seems to talk sense most of the time, after all English is not his native or first language but could it really just be a matter of replacing the owners, getting funding for the players the manager wants to buy then giving the manager time to get the team to gel together?

First of all, as you are a newbie here I would like to welcome you to the forum and this English Premier League thread. I am curious why your account was created in May 2022 yet this is your first post but nevertheless - welcome Feel free to post here about anything related to the English Premier League but keep your posts original. Please do not make copy and paste posts in this again otherwise they will be deleted. Thank you. https://www.givemesport.com/88035560-premier-league-7-rule-changes-ahead-of-the-22-23-season/amp
The 2022/23 Premier League season is now just under three weeks away.
Crystal Palace play host to Arsenal in the opening fixture of the competition’s 31st campaign on Friday August 5th – and you might notice a few things that seem a little odd during that contest.
This is because both the Premier League and the International Football Association Board (IFAB) have tweaked their rules over the summer.
One change the Premier League has adopted which should go down well with fans everywhere is a new system to try and reduce the amount of time-wasting during top-flight matches.
Last season, the average ‘ball-in-play’ time in the Premier League was the lowest it has been in more than a decade – at only 55 minutes and three seconds per match. Understandably, league chiefs are keen to improve that figure this time around.
The Premier League’s new ‘multi-ball’ initiative Per the Daily Mail, the Premier League has given the green light to a new multi-ball system, with ten match balls in use at each match.
“One ball will be in play, one with the fourth official and eight will be placed at various points around the pitch on cones. Two will be behind each goal and two along each touchline. Those behind the goal must be positioned such that they do not interfere with the Hawk-Eye goal decision system,” explain the Mail.
Those involved have been instructed to pass the ball directly to players as soon as they make eye contact and must also do so at the same speed for both teams.
Fans pay to see action. Less time wasted at throw-ins, goal-kicks and other set pieces can only be positive for the overall spectacle of the Premier League.
Five substitutes per match During the pandemic, sides were temporarily allowed to make five substitutes in a match.
Originally designed to alleviate stress on squads during the COVID-enforced stoppage of 2020, this has now been made a permanent rule in the Premier League and EFL.
Goalkeeper positioning for penalty kicks Previously, the laws of the game dictated that a goalkeeper must keep at least one foot on the line when facing a penalty.
This is no longer the case, as ‘keepers are now allowed to start with that one foot behind the line.
The change will make it possible for goalkeepers to start from a deeper position and generate greater momentum when attempting to make a save.
Alisson Becker of Liverpool Only the goalkeeper can handle the ball in the area Something the world already knew, but yet somehow wasn’t written clearly in the rules of the game.
The IFAB have sorted this out, with their laws now stating that nobody “except a goalkeeper within their penalty area” can handle the ball.
When players lose control We all hope that we never again have to witness a player physically involved attacking a fan like Eric Cantona did at Crystal Palace in 1995.
However, should “a player leave the pitch to assault an ‘outside agent’ in future, the referee must restart the match with an indirect free-kick to the opposing team.
Before now, there has been nothing written into the laws of the game to explain how to proceed after such an incident.
The referee is now the official coin tosser There has always been a coin toss before each match to decide which team would kick off. However, previously, anyone could have tossed that coin.
A mascot, a team physio, the bloke working at the burger stand; there was no official rule stating that the match referee needed to be the individual to flip the coin.
The working of the rule has now been changed by the IFAB so that the responsibility falls solely on the lead official.
Aston Villa v Wolves coin toss Team officials can be sent-off during penalty shoot-outs Not a rule that will affect the Premier League this season (unless we end up in a highly unlikely play-off scenario to determine a finishing position), but something that could impact the EFL play-offs come the end of the campaign.
Should a manager, coach, or another team representative commit an offence during a penalty shoot-out, then referees now have the power to give them their marching orders.

This is going to be an exciting season... look at how much Tuchel and Conte (managers of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur) were going crazy at each other in their 2-2 draw Romero received no punishment for his violent behavior against Cucurella; the FA is a joke; they are quick to suspend coaches for expressing their opinions and speaking out, but would never investigate corrupt officials I didn't want to talk about this incident any further until I saw these amusing pictures; who do you think was at fault here? I'm not sure Conte came with the right attitude; he knew Tuchel was screwed after that last-second goal; he should have just walked away or something. Although we were robbed of two crucial points, it was an entertaining game.

I can't understand how a player who pulls someone's hair doesn't get a red card and VAR doesn't call the referee as well. Besides I think that Tottenham's first goal was offside. In short, Chelsea were wasted last week. But they still managed to give a strong message by their game absolutely. Tuchel really has an amazing tactical intelligence. His putting James to the right wing in the match and their finding the goal by that showed this. Even though both coaches said at the press conference after the match that this kind of things can happen in the field, this pose of Tuchel by joke made me laugh.

@Pulsar77 the referee who was managing VAR has been given one week off, which clearly shows how badly he handled this match. Also Tuchel is a tactical genius and I’m sure that he’ll deliver the title next season, because by then he’ll have assembled his perfect squad and he’ll be free of the controversies eg new owners, Lukaku etc.
