When the game ended, you had to step back and admire what a brilliant game of football that was witnessed. It ended 4-4 but I felt Chelsea should have won the game. The Haaland foul which led to the penalty should never have been awarded and it gave Manchester City the lead against the run of play. What a game. I can understand why Pochettino was furious at the referee when he blew the whistle because Sterling was fouled and the game should have continued for another few seconds as the advantage was going for the team that had their player (Sterling) fouled. @JollyGood indeed this was one of the best game of the season and it once again showed that Chelsea player’s are maturing and they can take on any team that comes their way. Lastly Poch anger was justified and it pains me to say but the refereeing quality has gone down a lot in the premier league and I hope that the authorities take a note of this and work on improving the quality of the decisions taken.

You would expect Manchester City to play a certain way and dominate the majority of games they play but whenever they get met with a direct attacking game play, they seem they can be beaten. They already lost consecutive Premier League games this season because teams were brave against them. What really made this game special was that Chelsea rose to the occasion and absolutely took the challenge to Manchester City therefore it means Pochettino has began making his team believe they deserve to finish the season in the top four. That has to be the game of the season. What an epic game @JollyGood indeed this was one of the best game of the season and it once again showed that Chelsea player’s are maturing and they can take on any team that comes their way. These are the fixtures for the games taking place on Saturday 25th November:
Manchester City vs Liverpool Burnley vs West Ham United Luton Town vs Crystal Palace Newcastle United vs Chelsea Nottingham Forest vs Brighton and Hove Albion Sheffield United vs Bournemouth Brentford vs Arsenal
The game of the day has to be the early kick-off between Manchester City and Liverpool and whichever team wins will sit at the top of the table. If the game ends in a draw but Arsenal manage to win away at Brentford they will be top of the table. Another exciting game to watch when Newcastle United host Chelsea.

When they face a fearless and capable team they are getting much bigger issues about winning the match. We have seen many examples of it including this one. To be honest Chelsea haven't looked that capable generally until this match. Because they were clearly having scoring issues mostly. However we watched 4 goals from them once again this time against Manchester City with 11 players. Can these results be a sign for Chelsea to have started the recovery phase? I really don't know. We need to see more like this to be confident of something about Chelsea.

In response to your question, I would state: Yes. I think Pochettino finally has his team playing fresh attacking football and they believe they can beat any team (that is how confident they are). What do other members reading this think about Chelsea after their recent games against Arsenal and Manchester City? Have they have turned a corner and are now on the way up? There were fine margins, if they had held on to beat Arsenal and Manchester City most fans would be talking about a top four finish. When Chelsea travel to Newcastle for the game on 25th November, I believe they will take all three points. It is really the case for Manchester City. I agree with your opinion. When they face a fearless and capable team they are getting much bigger issues about winning the match. We have seen many examples of it including this one. To be honest Chelsea haven't looked that capable generally until this match. Because they were clearly having scoring issues mostly. I was about to make a post saying how I'm excited for the next fixtures thinking it was gonna be this weekend. :/ Due to them being after the international break, some of them could become a bit more unpredictable. And I hope nobody gets injured or gets a knock or something. Anyway, some good match ups in there are... City vs LFC: A race to the top. Chelsea vs NUFC: Midtable battle Sheffield vs Bournemouth: Relegation battle Spurs vs Aston Villa: Battle for top 4 Fullham vs Wolves: Battle to be at midtable

In some ways it is a welcomed break for the player to get away from the Premier League and play for the countries instead. The pressure of playing week in week out in the most exciting and competitive football league in the world cannot be overlooked. Some players will return with injuries or fatigue but others will be rejuvenated feeling fresh. I am looking forward to the games next weekend. Why do you think Southgate has decided to omit Sterling from the England squad? He is in excellent form when playing for Chelsea. Sterling deserves to go to Euro 2024. Rashford should not be playing for England because his form for Manchester United and England is simply not good enough. Also Henderson, how is he still part of the England squad? I was about to make a post saying how I'm excited for the next fixtures thinking it was gonna be this weekend. :/ Due to them being after the international break, some of them could become a bit more unpredictable. And I hope nobody gets injured or gets a knock or something.

It should not be in Southgate's choice. But I don't know if he's in the options, because I respect maybe he needs in his tactics. But if you look at the performance at Man United I wouldn't take him. Maybe I prefer Foden and Gearlish. They both have better performance. But if Foden and Gearlish are not brought in at Euro 2024 then it would be foolish. It seems that maximising Gearlish and Foden will be more successful than Rashford.

And I'm not really a fan of international football but I do enjoy the World Cup and the Euros. But mostly it's just the EPL for me and some UCL. But yeah... And I don't if it's just me but don't you guys get the feeling that most matches are usually low scoring after the players have returned from international break?

Right now we do not know what the selection for the Euro 24 competition will be but Southgate seems to be stating that he would prefer to have Maguire (and therefore Henderson and Rashford) because of their team cohesion. He thinks they are a good group of players that have a good understanding and by bringing in other players in to the squad it could unsettle the existing camaraderie. Personally, I think if you are good enough to be in the squad, you have to be selected. In the end it will be Southgate that will be judged after the Euro 24 tournament ends and I think he will leave the England job after it to take up a job in the Premier League. The team has shown resilience, determination, and an improved attacking threat, which could be the foundation for them to keep gaining positive trend in the league. They need to maintain consistency and demonstrate their ability to consistently perform at a high level against a variety of opponents to confirm that Chelsea is truly on the uptrend. If Chelsea can build on their recent positive displays and find solutions to their remaining challenges, they have the potential to challenge for top 4 in the Premier League this season. Their upcoming matches will provide further insights into their true character and whether they have indeed embarked on a sustained recovery phase.

There is no doubt about whether Pochettino has managed to get the Chelsea players to become a unit that is among the best. The players are there, the manager is there and they have the backing of the owners and their fans therefore they have the base to build upon. I do not know if Chelsea will finish in the top four but a glance at the Premier League table after the new year games have been played, we may see a strong indication of where the top six teams might be at the end of the season. ~snip~

But take not that they conceded only three goals in 6 home matches and making 14 goals for themselves. On the other hand, Chelsea has scored at least two goals in 5 of their last 6 matches so that's gonna make it really interesting for sure.

Here is the fixture list again for the games taking place on Saturday 25th November: Manchester City vs Liverpool Burnley vs West Ham United Luton Town vs Crystal Palace Newcastle United vs Chelsea Nottingham Forest vs Brighton and Hove Albion Sheffield United vs Bournemouth Brentford vs Arsenal If Chelsea manage to get the three points they will be taken seriously as top four contenders. Newcastle United have started playing better as the season progressed but so have Chelsea, I think Chelsea will win the game but I get the impression you think Newcastle United will win I am also looking forward to watching Manchester City vs Liverpool, it should be a good game because both teams are capable of winning and whichever team wins will sit at the top of the Premier League table. Next match for Chelsea could be another good one against Newcastle away. Newcastle hasn't lost at home except vs Liverpool earlier in the season, conceding a couple of goals. If Chelsea can build on their recent positive displays and find solutions to their remaining challenges, they have the potential to challenge for top 4 in the Premier League this season. Their upcoming matches will provide further insights into their true character and whether they have indeed embarked on a sustained recovery phase.
To be fair, Chelsea is improving with some positive recent results. However, I think challenging for the top 4 this season will be quite difficult for them. In my view, if Chelsea can address a few points soon, there might still be a chance for them. - Firstly, learning to control big games is crucial because they have challenging matches ahead against Newcastle United, Brighton, and Manchester United. - Secondly, the attack needs to maintain consistent form, especially Nicolas Jackson. His inconsistent performance is a concern for Chelsea fans. - Lastly, building continued confidence with the supporters is vital. They've somewhat reassured fans with recent good performances, especially showcasing the enthusiasm of new players, something Chelsea lacked before.

There can be no doubt Chelsea are improving and even though I think they will still lose more games as the season moves forward. Their best chance of a trophy will be a knockout competition because the Premier League is out of reach. If they won the FA Cup and managed to finish in the top five (because that might be enough to gain a Champions League place under new rules), then it would be classed as a good season for them. Furthermore I won’t be surprised if Newcastle manage to beat Chelsea because they’re playing very well and while Chelsea has just began to play well I don’t think they’ll be able to beat Newcastle right away.

@JollyGood a lot is on stake when Manchester City meets Liverpool hence I expect it to be a thrilling contest but I yet won’t pick a winner because both these sides are equally good hence difficult to chose one team. Furthermore I won’t be surprised if Newcastle manage to beat Chelsea because they’re playing very well and while Chelsea has just began to play well I don’t think they’ll be able to beat Newcastle right away. A win for either team (Manchester City and Liverpool) will give them the psychological edge when they meet tomorrow in the early kick-off game. Most fans and neutrals would not be bothered as to which team will win but they will be happy as long as it is end to end attacking football. That is what we all are expecting. It seems we disagree about Newcastle United vs Chelsea. Now, I am absolutely sure Chelsea will win the game but you seem to be edging towards a win for Newcastle Liverpool (win/draw) West Ham United (win) Luton (Win/draw) Chelsea (win) Brighton and Hove Albion (win) Sheffield United (win/draw) Arsenal (win) Did you place a wager on this?
