If you say the team with the best midfield will attain victory, then obviously Nigeria has a better midfield than Cameroon. Am not saying Nigeria has the best midfielders in the competition, i know they have poor midfielders especially the attacking midfielders, it is the defensive midfields that are performing better in all their matches i have watched. But compared to Cameroon, Nigerians can boast that they have a well performing midfielder. Moreover, we should not just conclude that any of the team the best midfielders will win, don't forget that Nigeria has been struggling to score goals in their last matches. While Cameroon makes use of their chances at the front to score goals. Which means Cameroon will win the game if they can persist to use their opportunities at the front to score goals.

To me, I'll say the game will be a game of luck and favor. Since the bother teams are not performing to their standard any of them might just get luck and win the match. However, I don't see them scoring a total of 3 goals and above. So, if am to place a bet ill just bet with 0ver 1.5 which means above 2 goals.
Yes I said this yesterday that the Cameroon vs Nigeria game will be a battle of the midfield. These 2 teams are lacking one in attack and one in the dense and that’s what resulting the match to be a battle of the midfield. However for both teams to qualify to this stage, it means they're strong anyways let's see who's strong among them.

When comparing these teams, Nigeria has a better midfield than Cameroon because you can see how the midfield of Nigeria helps to defend the ball and also help to progress the ball but the attacking midfield aren’t creative to help the forwards get the goals. Cameroon have scored more which is one thing the Super Eagles should be wary of, as they are able to take their chances. Well the bottom line is that this match will be decided majorly on luck and any opponent who takes his chance pretty well and fast to get the goal.

It's very much understandable that most Nigerian have already ruled out their team already because even though they advance to the round of 16,  their performance in the past 3 game have been really poor, the world class players they have, have not reflect in their style of play, but the Cameroonian team have not been doing better either, they are even worse than the Nigerian team, but due to the sanity of the Nigerian defense, I think they will be the winner here because they usually conceive less goals than the Cameroonian team here.
Yes, their initial performance was poor, but I believe it was only in their first match, against Equatorial Guinea. They found the encounter extremely difficult, but they still gave it their best, as evidenced by their ability to maintain consistency and finish in a draw. in their second match against the Ivory Coast. We got lucky, else he couldn't be better for Nigeria, as the match was so difficult that day. If not for the penalty that we later got, we for lost that match. But their recent game against Guinea-Bissau was a highly engaging one. Nigeria did well in that match; even though Guinea-Bissau attempted to play Nigeria rough in the first half, Nigeria showed them that they were different from other teams when they returned for the second half.

This round 16 in the AFCON cup competition, it will going to be tough game for those teams that qualified for the round 16 and, many teams will not escape this stage because all the teams am seeing here show that some teams will lose while some will win to continue their next stage of the competition.
To be honest, this round 16 game will be very tough game because most of the teams that qualified for the knockout round are strong, but Shal One is most likely to occur because not all teams can advance to the next stage, and that is all about football. Where they are qualified, they will also a loser.
Quote

Nigeria vs Cameroon will be the game i will like to watch to see all those their players forming professional in some past game but based on what the two teams has performed so far show that Nigeria will be the favourable team in their next game.
Based on my personal assessment of the upcoming encounter between Nigeria and Cameroon, I don't think Nigeria will lose because Cameroon isn't a very good squad, therefore I can't assume that they can triumph over Nigeria. Based on Nigeria's impressive performance in their last match against Guinea-Bissau, I have 90% confident that Nigeria will be the winner.

Your judgment can also be a result of you hoping the best for your country. Cameroon just having 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss compared to Nigeria holding 2 wins, 1 draw and no loses, are not yet ready to take one as losing the match will send them home. I'm only angered with Nigeria players inability to net a goal, their previous goals from last matches are just by luck, a penalty and an own goal, it's not giving, I hope they do best in their coming fixtures.

The Nigerian team are very good in defense and their wings are very effective, but they attacking midfielders and the strikers are not living up to expectations, for the cameroonians they have a very good central defense and good midfielders, but their finishers as well are not too impressive, however this can take a very different twist because the Nigerian attackers are very smart people that can cause havoc in the goal mouth for Cameroon, the likes of Victor osimhen and Moses Simon can put defenders on pressure to a point that they might either cause an own goal or cause a penalty.
Given the fact that Cameroon have fought to this point because it is the knockout stage, I believe they will pull up a good fight against Nigeria, over the years the game between Cameroon and Nigeria has always been a tough one, so this one wouldn't be an exception.

OFFICIAL! AFCON 2024 last 16 fixtures:

🇦🇴 Angola vs Namibia 🇳🇦
🇳🇬 Nigeria vs Cameroon  🇨🇲
🇬🇶 E. Guinea vs Guinea 🇬🇳
🇪🇬 Egypt vs DR Congo 🇨🇩
🇨🇻 Cape Verde vs Mauritania 🇲🇷
🇸🇳 Senegal vs Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮
🇲🇦 Morocco vs South Africa 🇿🇦
🇲🇱 Mali vs Burkina Faso 🇧🇫

Here is round 16 of the competition.

I haven't seen too much of these countries play but here's my own prediction for the games and countries I've seen and watch play. Only if Cameroon can dominate the midfied then, they can successfully win Nigeria. The defenders of Nigeria anyways be doing a massive development and job at the back line.

Egypt without Mo Salah seem blunt, but they should do well to defeat Congo in this round. They be hoping to get to the finals so star man for them and Liverpool would return for the finals.
Senegalese national team are unstoppable, they'll defeat whoever they meet if they have same consistent performance they had in the group stage. Tough game for South Africa and Moroccan side. I say it's the strongest fixture in this round.

It is going to be a tough match because it has always been a tough one between Nigeria and Cameroon, and Vincent Abubakar is back from injury, he will probably be available for the match against Nigeria which will make the match interesting to watch.
I am giving very good hope for the Super Eagle of Nigeria because Cameroon lose to Nigeria in their last AFCON match against each other, and with the team Nigeria have this time, I am confident that the Nigerian Super Eagle will make us proud.

🇲🇦 Morocco vs South Africa 🇿🇦
🇲🇱 Mali vs Burkina Faso 🇧🇫

Here is round 16 of the competition.

This fixtures is nice. Angola will win Namibia and Nigeria vs Cameron match is unpredictable because all the two teams are weak so anyone win let the other should go. Cameron is not playing anything in this season or tournament. Lolz Nigeria scored 2 goals to have 7 points, the 3rd goal was not scored by Nigeria player but their opponents player scored himself. Egypt will win DR. Congo flat win. Cape Verde is my favorite team in this tournament, Jesus Christ they boys are playing. Mauritania will be a work over for them.  Côte d’Ivoire will will win Senegal and Morocco will win South Africa  and finally Mali will win Burkina Faso.

That is my prediction of the round 16 of the game. There is no hope for Nigeria Super Eagles for now. Until I see their performance with Cameron.

Even though the Nigeria vs. Cameroon match is usually difficult, they can do their best because they have already prepared for the fixture win, in their previous encounter against Cameroon in 2019, Nigeria won against them, and they are back this season to put them under pressure and win. Although Nigeria was fortunate to win two games via penalty and own goal, they did their utmost to earn all three points, in contrast to other teams who were left with just one point. Cameroon will face a difficult battle against Nigeria due to their poor performance.

Nigeria should be able to win their round 16 match, which is against Cameroon. We all saw how the two countries performed in the group stage, and I can say Nigeria's performance is really better than Cameroon's performance in the group stage, Nigeria's team was able to win two matches and draw one match. The only problem I have with Nigeria is their inability to score goals in most of their matches. Nigeria should have comfortably won all their group stage matches, but they waste most of the opportunities they have, and then they will end up struggling to score one goal in all their matches. I just hope their inability to score goals won’t affect them against Cameroon in the round of 16 of the league.

<snip>
That is my prediction of the round 16 of the game. There is no hope for Nigeria Super Eagles for now. Until I see their performance with Cameron.
The round of 16 will not be the same as the games in the group stage. In the group stage, there was only one team that managed to get perfect points, namely Senegal.
Nigeria vs Cameroon match, my analysis is more about Nigeria who will win and qualify for the next round.
To explain why I favor Nigeria more, because from the statistics obtained by both of them during the group stage, Nigeria got game statistics above Cameroon. My assessment is more on their defense. The number of goals conceded by Nigeria is less than the number conceded by Cameroon.

The AFCON competition in the group stages this season has been very tensed for each of the countries as it isn't going according to how most people predicted it to go, just take a look at the countries that played matches yesterday, apart from Morocco that won their match against Zambia, the rest of the matches ended in goalless draw, that's to show how serious the competition has become.

I just have this feeling that those stronger countries that everyone is hyping will not actually win the tournament as am actually having this feeling that a country that is least expected will win the AFCON this year because looking at the group stage matches, we saw lots of competition and surprises from lesser countries which means that this round of sixteen might even be more competitive as compared to the group stage matches so definitely, we should expect some drama from some of the underrated countries.

. Osimhen had been quoted to say he would score in the encounter, I wonder how, seeing he only has one goal to his name.
considering his performance at the group stage and his inability to scoring a good number of goals, it's going to be jars for him to play well in the knockout stage because a lot of pressure and expectation will be in him and he wouldn't be relaxed enough to play the game effectively. But on the other hand, osimehn is very good at taking up challenge and I wouldn't be surprised to see him scoring against Cameronian team but we also need not underestimate the camoronian side because they are true fighter and don't give up all that easily. If abubakar is going to play in that match then Nigeria might not be proceeding above Saturday in the Afcon.

Th this is the game of football, anything can happen and either Nigeria or Cameron could win the match

The AFCON this year will not seize to amaze me, imagine a country like Mauritania winning a strong country like Algeria that have won the AFCON competition on two occasions even to the extent of eliminating them from the AFCON at just group stages thereby Algeria couldn't qualify for the knockout stages. Who would have believed from the beginning of the group stage matches that Algeria wouldn't be able to qualify for the round of sixteen considering the fact that they seem like the strongest country in their group but just look at them now at the bottom of their group table after they played 3 matches, draw 2 out of the 3 and were unable to win even a single match.

Algeria's performance is not encouraging at all, and everyone can testify that they are usually one of the strongest teams in the AFCON, but I just don’t know why they were so weak at their game with Mauritania. Actually, even their performance in the game was good, but the small mistake that Algeria made is what gave Mauritania the golden opportunity; they used it to score their goal around the first 37 minutes of the game, although many will be happy for Mauritania for their victory in the game.

To me, I will say that Algeria is not serious about their game this season. Can you imagine that in three consecutive matches, they were not able to win even one of the games? It is a very poor performance from them, and they have already started seeing the results because they are now the last in the table, so a disgracing performance from Algeria.

Congratulations to the host nation, Ivory Coast for qualifying for the rounds of 16 ahead of Ghana. It would have been a shame if the hosts were to leave the tournament in the knockout stages. Some people are upset that CAF is not using the regular FIFA format of pairing teams. I’m one of those who do not see a problem with the system CAF is using.

For the game on Saturday. I think Ghana would have been a stronger rival for Nigeria than Cameroon. Comparing both sides, the Super Eagles are not scoring goals but they are very good defensively. On the other hand Cameroon are scoring but they have conceded more goals in the tournament. If we can get Victor Osimhen to play like he does at Napoli, we will sure of victory.

It was actually a very narrow escape for the Ivory Coast national team as they finally reached the round of 16 of the CAF African Cup Of Nations and the wild celebrations in the streets of the country after it was confirmed that they'll be playing in the knockout stages further explains how important the win is to them as a nation. The host nation tried their best and to win their last game of the group stage and all I can say is that they really deserve that win that confirmed they were gonna progress to the next round.

The Nigeria game against Cameroon on Saturday have been a major talking point but I believe that the Nigeria Super Eagles are going to win that particular game.

Cameroon has similar problems but a little better than Nigeria. The difference is Cameroon is actually showing spirit. They feel motivated to win so they attack very well. Now I'm seeing reports that Abubakar would be available for Cameroon against Nigeria. If that's true, that would be a very big advantage to Cameroon.
Vincent Aboubakar shows a lot of Patriotism when he plays, he is a player that can carry the team. He will be the end of the super eagles if the defense fails. He has not played yet since the start of this tournament, he will be very interested in scoring and lifting the spirit of the Indomitable Lions.
I am yet to see players like Ahmed Musa play for the super Eagles, Cameroon may be his first game, Cameroonians have to be very worried too.

Côte d’Ivoire will will win Senegal
Côte d’Ivoire sacked their coach, will be with a temporary coach for their important game against Senegal, but they can still win. There is the effect that a new coach always has on the team where each player would want to impress, including the coach wanting to impress so that he can keep the job, that makes Cote d'ivoire more dangerous for that game.

Well I still believe Nigeria will be able to trash out Cameroon from this competition because to me they seem more better composed. The Cameroon defense line seems shaky and might not be able to withstand pressure from the wingers of Nigeria lest I give this match to Nigeria, although if I'm to bet this game I'll pick Nigeria to either win or draw cause they might end up drawing the game.

Egypt will sure defeat Congo and go through to the last 8 because I think they’re not looking pretty bad without Salah. Senegal will sure get to the final because they seem like the only serious team in this tournament. Morocco and South Africa, seems to be a tough match for this round but I still think Morocco has the better chances of going past this stage than South Africa though. This is my humble opinion and prediction.

Congratulations to the host nation, Ivory Coast for qualifying for the rounds of 16 ahead of Ghana. It would have been a shame if the hosts were to leave the tournament in the knockout stages.
Congratulation to Ivory Coast. I never expected them to qualify for round 16, but they struggled and were able to qualify. Their round 16 match will be against Senegal, a country that didn’t lose or draw any matches in the group stage of the African cup nation. I don't know what the match will be, but Senegal is a better team than Ivory Coast, and it will be difficult for Ivory Coast to qualify. Senegal's performance in this African cup nations is still one of the best to me. They are playing a nice football, and I don’t think a club like Ivory Coast will be able to hold them down. I don't think Ivory Coast will be going higher than round 16 in this African cup of Nations.

For the first time in this tournament I'm feeling confident that the Nigerian team is going to progress past the Cameron. The Nigerian are playing a very compact games and they are not allowing many goals into their own net. I can't really say this about their opponent. Osimhen has to start scoring goals, he is a big name and much is expected from him. He has to find his goal scoring shots and do what a stricker of his caliber is supposed to do.

The Nigerian team really tried in the group stage and that was what has given them the qualification to this round of 16 of the tournament. After seeing their next match against Cameroon, I felt some kind of relief but still not as much relief that I can be sure of their victory in this match easily. I didn’t watch any of the Cameroonian matches but they’re a big name as far as this competition is concerned and expect them to also give in their best to outperform Nigerians in this stage. After this stage, I don’t think the quarterfinals will be a tough match for any team that gets to qualify afterwards. I wish them all the best but this particular match is going to be tough and indecisive easily.

Judging from previous matches between Nigeria and Cameroon, Nigerians have a higher percentage of winning the match, but one thing we need to ask is: are they as strong and corporate as they were during those last seasons?

From the last match that I was watching live, Nigerians have a better defensive position, which was a good one, but their difficulty scoring a goal is what I could not just understand.

If not for the on-goal that happens by mistake or miracle, that match could have just ended as a draw for them. If Nigeria can start scoring goals, then we can rest assured that the Sunday match will be in our favour, but if they don't, there is a possibility that Cameroon might use any slit opportunities and win the match.
