1021  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance.US again in trouble | SEC continues to harass offshore presence on: May 02, 2023, 02:00:02 PM
In the news today, we have Binance.US on target again. U.S. since the boom of crypto exchange from 2017 up trend has targeted the binance. Since US's decisions could be alarming to the existence of Binance and is due to the fact that Binance has almost fifth users from the US alone.
Under their chair leadership, Gensler, SEC did many law suits against cryptocurrency companies including some exchanges. Bittrex, Coinbase, Kraken and more, not only Binance US.

We must fight back SEC, from Ripple to Coinbase

Bittrex announced to leave the USA. but a few weeks later, SEC. decided to sue Bittrex, is it necessary?
Bittrex Shuts Down US Crypto Exchange Due to 'Regulatory Environment'
SEC Charges Crypto Asset Trading Platform Bittrex and its Former CEO for Operating an Unregistered Exchange, Broker, and Clearing Agency
Kraken to Discontinue Unregistered Offer and Sale of Crypto Asset Staking-As-A-Service Program and Pay $30 Million to Settle SEC Charges

The latest hearing in the USA. Congress sheds a light to us that there are many people in the Congress don't like what SEC. are doing with the lead by Gensler.
1022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: April 30, 2023, 04:37:52 PM
Although Hertha Berlin is a lower -board club, they managed to make it difficult for Bayern Munich to score goals in the first round, defender's performance and goalkeeper Hertha Berlin performed neatly in this fight and although in the end had to swallow defeat. If we look at Bayern Munich's dominance they should have scored in the first round, but the lack of final settlement that made it difficult for Bayern Munich players to score in the first round.
Eventually Bayern Munich managed to find two goals within ten minutes from 69th to 79th minutes to beat Hertha Berlin and got three points which is enough to help them take over the first position from Dortmund. Now, after this difficult win, they have 1 point more than Dortmund and the race between them has a new big change. These two clubs switch their positions in latest weeks and they both are unstable with performances.

Quote
Tuchel has not been fully able to adapt to players and so far the appearance of Bayern Munich is not so consistent. In my opinion he needed a long time to try to combine players, but the problem was that the competition continued and Dortmund also wanted to win the Bundesliga, currently only one point adrift of Bayern Munich.
Tuchel knows that if he fails to win this Bundesliga with Bayern in this season, he will be sacked even after a few months. He failed with Bayern in Champions League and national cup which makes Bundesliga is the only competition he can win with Bayern in this season. He knows that Bayern did not sign a contract with him to fail in all competitions.
1023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 30, 2023, 04:28:08 PM
It seems Atalanta is still having a hard time getting to a position that could give it a ticket to the Champions League even though Atalanta managed to win at home to Torino today. Because Atalanta still have to be able to win in the remainder of this season so they can beat three teams that already have the same points as AS Roma, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Why is that, because Inter Milan immediately shot into the top four of the standings after being able to win over Lazio at home in today's match too. So that this opens up opportunities for Inter Milan to compete with Juventus and Lazio for a better position and secures itself to get a ticket to the Champions League again next season.
Inter Milan made it at Giuseppe Meazza even Lazio scored first but Inter Milan came back in the second half and won it eventually.

Serie A is very hot with its competition for last three positions in top four. The first position belongs to Napoli and will be unchanged but from Lazio to Atalanta, from the 2nd to 7th positions, only 6 points gap. Even Lazio at the 2nd position is not sure that they will end in top four. Juventus at the 3rd position only has 2 points more than 3 clubs Inter Milan, AC Milan and AS Roma.

I believe that top four of Serie A will only be known at the final day of this season. It is one of most exciting season in Serie A after many years, first without domination of Juventus and second the very tightly exciting top four race.

after which I can't reach out to the recipient directly.

Does this imply that I have lost my BTC and will never be able to reverse or recover it?
You lost it if the transaction was confirmed (if you meant completed is confirmed by miners).

Quote
Is there no way or platform to reverse erroneous transactions, especially when the reasons are genuine?
Nobody can verify your reasons are genuine or not, honestly.

The only chance is if the receiver is a good person, who will send that amount back to your wallet address or will do it if in contact with you. It happens sometimes that receivers are kind and return the amount they received from unknown senders even they don't know why they received it.

they should stop using google authenticator. Better ones like Aegis can be used.
Correct! Aegis is an open source 2FA application.

1026  Other / Meta / Re: Local Ukrainian Board on: April 29, 2023, 06:13:44 PM
I don't think that you are looking at things neutrally or objectively if you think that its unfair for Ukrainians not to have their own local board while Nigerians do because getting a local board is much more than about which language has been used.
First I meant about language. They can use both Ukrainian and Russian languages and perhaps it is reason they still feel comfortable to use Russian local board which is one of biggest local boards.

Quote
What you forgot to mention is that Nigerians got their local board by being consistently active for several years. They earned it by their effort and no one handed it out to them with the hope that they might be active in the future. If they were as (in)active as Ukrainians are, they certainly woulnd't get their own local board.

Just to add that I have nothng against Ukraine local board (on the contrary, I am a big supporter of local boards) but if they are not initially interested in being active in their own local board, what's the point in creating one?
Second, I did not look at their statistics, honestly.

Nevertheless, if they feel that they have demand for that board, they must raise it first, then they can proceed it with something more. Neutrally said, if language is a main factor to create a local board, Nigerian local board should not be created as I see. I agree with you that two biggest factors are: demand and intensity of local activities. The latter one seems to be weak at the moment but they can improve it.
1027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: History revisited: the first Bitcoin conference 2011 on: April 29, 2023, 05:03:46 PM
This is an important conference which happened four months after the day Satoshi Nakamoto left this forum.

Gavin will visit the CIA and Gavin received $3000 for his speech.

Do you think it is an important conference for Bitcoin community and do you think Gavin made an excellent speech to wipe out fear of CIA and their uncertainty about Bitcoin as well as its technology?

1028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 29, 2023, 04:32:57 PM
These two teams will be involved in intense competition to get a Champions League ticket. Even though Rome acted as the host, they were not so favored in tonight's game. In head to head Rome is also not that proud, but considering the momentum to win fourth place, it is possible that Rome will appear all out. However, if this match ends in a draw and Inter are able to win, then Milan and Roma's chances will be even more urgent. But my prediction is that the Giallorossi will be able to win three points at the Olimpico.
This match is important for them but not only this, after this match they will meet two weaker teams before meeting other teams in top four competition. AC Milan will meet Lazio and AS Roma will meet Inter Milan. Before those big matches, they will return to Champions League and Europa League for semi finals.

About 30 minutes in the match and both clubs did not have any shot on target. However the match is very hot with some personal physical clashes among their players. Roma will not have Matic in the next match with his yellow card in this match. So far Gianluca Mancini and Theo Hernandez have some personal battles and they will have more in this match.

Roma just created a most dangerous chance in this match but Tammy Abraham played as a defender of AC Milan and blocked the shot from Pellegrini.
1029  Other / Meta / Re: Local Ukrainian Board on: April 29, 2023, 03:53:13 PM
Honestly, Ukraine is a big nation with big population and even they have similar language like Russia and other ex-Soviet nations, I support them to have their own local board.

Let's put political issues aside and see it neutrally. If Nigeria has their local board even they mostly use English, can speak and write well in English, why Ukraine does not have their local board? It's unfair.

With all the shit Russia is doing around Europe especially in Ukraine, if Ukrainians have their local boards and separate themselves from Russians if they don't want to have discussions in the same house (board), that is great for them.
1030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos is a good source of crypto knowledge on: April 29, 2023, 03:46:04 PM
Andreas Antonopoulos has written a good book, called “Mastering Bitcoin”

Maybe you have heard from his book “Mastering Bitcoin” where he describes Bitcoin’s details. It’s a book mostly for coders but his first 2 chapters are also informative for normal people. Andreas Antonopoulos has made his book available on GitHub:
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch01.asciidoc
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch02.asciidoc
I like his offer to make his book available to everyone because Andreas Antonopoulos is acting non-profit, he is not greedy, which is very good in my opinion.
He and his colleagues wrote many books, not only this one.

Andreas Antonopoulos is also known for his historical video, where he explained Bitcoin over 10 years ago to an almost empty audience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywO0r_Fz0lc
You can watch it on his Youtube channel with playlists but if you are not familiar with sorting through playlists, you can visit his website with the page for videos with same categories: Bitcoin, Lightning Network, Ethereum, Basics.

1031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I think I am going to start referring domain name buyers to Bitcoin Talk on: April 29, 2023, 12:02:58 PM
In the mean time I thought that I would refer potential buyers to this forum to gain information. Rather than directing them to the home page, I wondered if it would be better to link to the discussion board, or maybe the beginner's board. I have a slight preference for the beginner's board, do you agree that this would be the best introduction?
If I was you, I would direct them to either one of two topics. The first one for Satoshi's lesson is my more favorite than the story from Hal Finney. I believe it is nothing better than learning from lesson of Bitcoin creator and the forum founder, Satoshi Nakamoto. No matter you are a newbie or experienced bitcoiner or Bitcointalk user.

1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The America and the Crypto - Getting on wrong foot on: April 28, 2023, 02:16:46 AM
I second that. You know, most of these 'law enforcers' seldom understand what they are enforcing. I really don't get Gensler tho, I mean he owns no crypto assets but can regulate and make rules concerning it?
With such actions displayed by the SEC, it just proves how desperate these agencies are to snuff out Bitcoin's existence. It looks like a failing effort to me tho.
I believe in the USA. 2024 President election, cryptocurrency will have a bigger part in candidate election propaganda.

Honestly, we can not know why Gensler did that, only he knew what he is doing and why as well as whether there are people ordered those stuffs for Gensler to execute it. Fortunately, with the latest hearing we can see that Chair Gensler is not has power to freely do what he want.

I don't trust what Gensler told in his video, press conferences or in the hearing. Time will tell us what happened with SEC and Gensler recent years.

What is happening now is positive in the long run. Whenever individuals decide that using Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is not like banks, and that you must believe in central platforms that ask you to verify your identity, you are completely away from the essence of these currencies.
From questions in the hearing, we can see that many people in the USA. Congress did not want SEC and Gensler continue to do what they are doing very arbitrarily and somewhat escalating from their given power. It is positive signal we got from the hearing and it can be start of something better for cryptocurrency regulatory environment in the nation.

It is an opportunity for these companies to escape from the United States and find new investment opportunities. Perhaps it is one of the few times that we do not see the United States attractive in terms of capital management.
It's their chance to reshuffle their resources, find new target customer population and of course we should not exclude that in future they will move back to the USA that is a very big market for any company.

1035  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: April 27, 2023, 02:21:05 PM
We are still in Partnership with Arsenal, but as the main betting partner. We chose not to go onto the shirt as that would have cost a chunk more! Check out the LED's at the upcoming Arsenal matches Smiley
Having Sportsbet.io in LED advertisement and on television would be cool to bring Sportsbet.io to more people. In addition, it will help Bitcoin to be exposed to more people, more football fans and Premier League fans.

I think Sportsbet.io team had a great decision to focus on Premier League but not other leagues in Europe. I believe your team did make cost-benefit analysis among top leagues around Europe before picking Premier League.

About Fear and Greed Index, you can use the chart from LookintoBitcoin. With a chart, you can get an overview and learn something from past Fear and Greed periods. With only an index score, you only know about a current situation.

1037  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have some questions left about this mysterious passphrase on: April 27, 2023, 02:02:42 AM
I think I understood globally that from the seed, you can create different wallets. If you add a passphrase, it becomes a new wallet.

My first question is: if I have a wallet and I have the possibility to add a passphrase, do I create a new wallet or is it the same wallet with a passphrase added?
Let me give you an example, with Electrum wallet.

When you create a wallet with Electrum wallet software, you can create it without extended seed or with extended seed (for a single signature wallet in this example).

After you click on creating a new wallet, you will have an Option button, click on it, you will see "Extend this seed with custom words". You have to type your extended seed with word is from the list

Then you have to confirm your wallet seed, the extended seed, and the wallet will be created.

Now, it's time for you to practice Recovering a wallet (without your extended seed), you will see that two wallets give you two different receiving address lists.

If you are still curious, you can repeat the Restore process with your default seed and a new extended seed, then you will have a third different wallet.

Quote
Second question: if you have a wallet to do DCA and leave it to your kids, is it better to add a passphrase or not?
You ask the wrong question and the better one should be
  • Should you give a Bitcoin wallet to your children when they have yet matured?
  • If you believe they are matured already, and they have enough awareness to manage capital, finance and their life well, you can give them your wallet seed, backups, etc. After you teach them basic steps to import, recover a wallet. With or without extended seeds is not important, if they can secure their wallet and backup well.
1038  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easy way to paste IMG fast to your post on: April 27, 2023, 01:42:56 AM
Hello, in order to insert an image into your post, you must first upload it to the hosting. Sometimes it can be inconvenient, especially from a smartphone. I suggest to use a @Free_Image_Hosting_bot in telegram.
You just need to upload image hare, and after 1 second you will get a link.
I don't try the bot but does it provide BBcode link after you upload your images there?

Are you sure that a Telegram bot is more convenient than a website? It depends on each person and some people don't have Telegram account and don't use it so with them, a Telegram bot is not convenient.

Some websites for image uploading

Additionally, there are some tricks to add images via BBcode in the forum.
1039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I may sound really stupid right now, but it's what I noticed on: April 26, 2023, 02:34:43 PM
Why is it that bad news always comes in a bear market and when we are in a bull market, all bad news about Bitcoin vanished? Are they doing this on purpose? It's always the bear market, after halving everything will disappear and some bans will be lifted, and so on...
Are you sure that in bear market, there are only bad news?
Are you sure that in bull market, there are only good news?

I bet on differ that in both markets, there are good and bad news. It's just in a bear market, bad news are considered as really bad but in bear market, bad news are easily ignored by people. The same for good news which is considered nothing in a bear market but is something like a nuclear bomb for Bitcoin explosion in a bull market.

If you need examples, see the Bitcoin obituaries
