1301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Liechtenstein is considering to accept bitcoin for government payments on: May 09, 2023, 09:42:27 PM
This is interesting, Liechtenstein has been Bitcoin friendly for a while now and this move
is just another step possibly to accepting Bitcoin as legal tender, who knows...

Its a very small country but they are very welcoming to Bitcoin.

Binance and Kraken exchanges are based there and some banks in Liechtenstein have
been offering crypto services for a few years and now the government are taking a
positive and direct approach.

Hi @MoparMiningLLC,
what could be the price for shipping in EU? (Private courier or regular postage?)

To other EU collectors, anyone potentially interested in a group buy in order to save some shipment fees?

Good idea bitbollo, I have items with minerjones otherwise I would avail of the group buy.

@MoparMiningLLC I will take #50 please.
1303  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How to remove scratches from acrylic coin slabs? on: May 09, 2023, 05:34:45 PM
I'm guessing the scratches are fine enough from just general wear.

I know for sure with some patience you could erase the scratches with what we call
"wet and dry" sandpaper . . . What? I hear you ask!

Used wet this sandpaper is available in super super fine grades up to 7000 grit. I can
safely say this would work. When using wet the water helps to keep loose particles
free from the surface and the paper making for a superior finish.

I would suggest using a sacrificial piece to test the result first though!

Italian Open - Rome

The rounds of 128 get under way today and I notice that there are a lot of Italian players
in action today, 5 today who have made it through the qualifiers, another 6 in action
tomorrow. I think tennis in Italy is becoming stronger and stronger.

Lets see how the top italians do this year, big things expected of Sonego, Musetti and
of course Sinner.

Eyes will be on Alcaraz of course, along with Djokovic but its really Alcaraz' tournament
to lose.
1305  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the call for anti-monarchy system really necessary . on: May 08, 2023, 09:34:28 PM
The monarchy in the UK seems  to me to be a massive luxury for the citizens to pay for.

It also seems to me that the Monarchy have positioned themselves into a very lucrative
position, they dont actually have to govern yet they have their lifestyle paid for along with
all their pomp, titles, properties and residencies.

I cannot see it being abolished or changed, so much would have to change along with the
whole aristocracy system.
1306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Aliens accept BTC, What about newborns? on: May 08, 2023, 08:50:39 PM
Let's say we run into some other species....

Given the fact that no human has made it out of our solar system (apart from voyager)
and likely wont in the very near future its safe to say if some other species runs into us!

... will they accept a 95% premined supply?

Will they accept us?
Will they accept ANYTHING we have created?
and as mk4 asks will they even understand the concept of currency?

What about newborns?

What about them?

So yea overall a bizzare thread because how could anyone know the answers to the
OP's Q's
1307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: May 08, 2023, 11:45:32 AM
Rugby Union URC

Results from the weekends quarter finals sees 3 irish teams and one South African
progress to the semi's, goes to show the strength of the Irish sides following on from
the great Six Nations Campaign.

I think Connacht have the tougher draw, they are away to the Stormers and defending
champions in South Africa.

Leinster and Munster at least are playing at home.

I fancy a Leinster v Stormers final but would love if it was Connacht v Munster.

Nadal announces forfeit, since he will not participate in the Internazionali in Rome.
a bad news for tennis fans (like me who will obviously follow some live matches Smiley ) but above all Its also a bad news for him since the player also risks to fall out from the ATP top 100 !

Thats not good and a bit worrying that its taking so long for that hip injury to heal
and for him to get back to fitness.

Alcaraz has won the tournament again. Still impressive what he has shown again. He is so consistent, and in long rallies he is almost always the better one. There are few players who can keep up with his level.

Yes good win by Alcaraz and Struff in fairness gave a very good account of himself,
managed to take a set from Alcaraz but in the end Alcaraz showed his class eventhough
Struff as suggested tried the serve and volley tactic.

Rugby League NRL Australia

Last 3 games of Round 10 played today with IMO 3 unlikely winners.

Wests Tigers 18 - 16 Dragons (ok so they are both bottom of the ladder)

Roosters 6 - 20 Cowboys (really fancied the Roosters for this draw and for
the Cowboys to be mediocre this round, thats my bet gone.)

Titans 26 - 24 (Titans continue their hold on the top half of the ladder, I was going
to go with the Eels thinking they have to start making a move to the top half...
not this round.)
1310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Fun Question Here] Where Would You Live As a Bitcoin Millionaire? on: May 07, 2023, 08:31:09 AM
So far the general consensus is that people will stay in their current country or location.

For countries which are relatively safe people generally will want to stay there where life
is familiar with culture, family and friends.

I live in Ireland, one of the safest places in the world so in terms of that I have no reason
to leave, my friends and family are here, its familiar but its quite expensive to live here.

Really the only other place I would consider is Portugal, again another safe country but
with fairly high weather extremes. They do have a very friendly "Crypto" tax regime which
is attractive.

Sabalenka won the title in Madrid by beating Swiatek in 3 sets 6:3, 3:6, 6:3. Quite an unexpected result if you ask me, my bet was on Iga (see post above). Sabalenka started very agressively, first set was rather easy. In the beginning of the second, Iga managed to break her opponent and was leading 3:0. However the Belarussian managed to come back 3:3, only to lose in the ending 3:6. In the 3rd it was the other way round - Aryna got ahead 3:0 and Swiatek managed to come back and make it 3:3 but then lost 3:6. Congrats to the Belarussian, who turned 25 earlier in Madrid. Nice birthday present, huh?  Grin

Men's final tomorrow.
Myself had similar thought, Swiatek to be the champion of Madrid Open. Looking the score Sabalenka is strong and dominant from the beginning. Second and third sets were really different from the regular game. In the second set Swiatek have made a comeback and won the set. In the third set same as that Sabalenka have won the set and lifted the trophy. Earlier these two met in the WTA finals 2022 and Swiatek lost in the similar way as 2-6 6-2 1-6. Big birthday present for Sabalenka.

In the end I didnt make a bet. Eventhough Swiatek was favourite the signs were
there that Sabalenka was a very capable opponent and that it has been shown
already this year that Swiatek is beatable.

After all Sabalenka is not no.2 in the rankings for nothing!

This was a great win it is getting closer now that there isnt just 1 top player, we
hopefully can look forward to similar battles between these two! In the interview
with the amazon prime courtside pundits Sabalenka hinted at the same point,
she wants to make the tournaments more interesting by being able to beat Swiatek.
1312  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 06, 2023, 02:51:08 PM
This is a great idea and great service!

I uploaded an image to the site and it was easy, bbcode provided so it was just
click COPY, way handier than what I have been using to date, Blogger.

I think it would be nice to set up an account, that way we can see exactly what we
uploaded, then again does it matter given the idea is the images stay on BCT anyway?

In relation to images I would also like to suggest for the smartphone users is
to use the FREE app Adobe Photoshop Express, its great for resizing, cropping and editing
before uploading to Talkimg, also means in the long run it saves on server space.
1313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 06, 2023, 09:11:09 AM
I watched the first set only of Struff v Karatsev and thought Struff wasnt going to be
able to win with a second chance against the Russian. I was surprised to see the result
this morning, another massive win by the German.

Is anyone gonna speculate a bet on Struff to take the title? He is a massive 8.6 on Rollbit.

On the womens side its Swiatek v Sabalenka, that should be a cracking match, Sabalenka
has been very consistent for a while now and Swiatek has been really great in Madrid and is
favourite.
1314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: May 05, 2023, 09:34:40 PM
Thanks for the link Timelord, I will check that out over the weekend!

NRL

I have to say the Broncos are a different team to last year, thats a great win against
another top team.

Union - URC

Big big win this evening by the underdogs Connacht playing away to Ulster, the #2 team
on the table. I actually didnt get my bet placed, when I listened to some Rugby
pundits today they all fancied Ulster but that Connacht would run them close,
so I had decided to go with Connacht but the game was t listed 🤷

I'm not looking that far ahead in the NRL.

I have 3 bets on this round, all favourites, and they better start winning...and keep winning!

Broncos to beat the Sea Eagles (thats playing now)
Panthers to beat the Warriors (that should be safe, but yea look at the previous rounds???)
Sharks to beat the Dolphins

I might do the Roosters to beat the Cowboys who have been shocking so far, thats
for Sunday.
1318  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcoin/Crypto sticker collection on: May 04, 2023, 09:13:17 PM
Just came across this on Twitter, a set of FREE Bitcoin stickers, only disappointing thing
is they are only available for those in the US and Canada. They do give the option to download
the files for self printing also, and there are multiple languages to choose from too!

The designs are great, playing on the inflation theme!

Just watched the final set of Struff v Tsitsipas, and Tsitsipas is out in 3 sets! and again
as we talked about he fails to being the killer instinct which Alcaraz has when the going is
tough in the match.

Struff did well, his service game was quite good, lots of aces and he actually has a good
record against Tsitsipas. He has been unlucky with injuries and is 33! so kind of
deserves this semi final spot.

Funny thing about his next match is that he meets the guy who beat him in the
qualifiers, Karatsev ! (struff got through the qualifiers after been beaten as a lucky looser)
1320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - what is your plan when we reach $100k? on: May 04, 2023, 05:34:06 PM
I do not have much Bitcoin currently but I am planning to convert a lot of the profits I make in my altcoins during the bull run into BTC which I will then hold till the 2028/29 bull run.

I expect Bitcoin to reach at least $100k at the peak of the next bull run, possibly $150k.

Just wondering what we are all planning to do when Bitcoin does reach $100k - are you selling or are you holding till the 2028/29 bull run?

You are thinking too much in advance about Bitcoin. You expect Bitcoin to reach at least $100k or possibly $150k at the peak of the next bull run. You didn't mention how many years that is possible.Do you have any idea how many more years it might take compared to the current value of Bitcoin? I have always considered bitcoins primarily as savings. Since Bitcoin is the top of all coins, I think Bitcoin will become the global currency.when bitcoin price reaches 100K I will sell some bitcoins.

Without getting into the whole speculation thing about Bitcoin, it could be $100,000
by the end of next year, so not too long away.

When it hits $100k I will only do something with Bitcoin if it is a necessity only.
Maybe I will trade some to buy back in the bear market at a later stage. Otherwise
I will continue to HODL.

There will be tough times coming so I wont be just spending Bitcoin for the sake of it
or because it reaches a milestone.
