1681  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Influencers, affiliate links and scams on: January 17, 2023, 10:56:31 PM
I don't follow any influencers other than the likes of Michael Saylor on Twitter, if
he can be classed as an influencer.

I pay less than zero regard for anything others than Bitcoin, probably an exception
for Litecoin and Montero but outside those I don't care for them.

The way I see it is Influencers promote "crypto" not Bitcoin. They promote projects
which they themselves benefit from. It's sad that so many people can't see it?
1682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 17, 2023, 06:53:24 PM

Yeah, why not though? maybe sport bookies saw that Diego is very inconsistent with this huge event that sometimes he exited early. But against a unknown player, perhaps Diego can still pull it through.

He is 2.38 underdog at Stake, (seems to be the ML odds are not yet listed on Sportsbet though). So that is a good bet in my opinion and best of luck.

I'll just pass on today's betting, just enjoying live games that I can watch today. Djokovic vs Carballes Baena playing.

I watched Diego today and he was moving very well and was hitting hard. I think he'll beat JJ.

Yeah, I didn't bet much today. Nothing exciting on.

If you want to make some easy money I suggest putting a large bet on Novak to win the trophy.

It won't be paying much but it is as certain a bet as you'll find.

Yea myself and buwaytress have already been through that idea about betting on Djokovic.
Better off the bet match by match and pounce on the odds offered if he goes a set or two
down early on.

Guys, he is 1.77 to win outright - are they not good odds before the tournament even
kicks off?

That's the whole point... you don't even get your stake back as winnings IF he wins the final. Why not go for him now at handicap or live bet after going a set or two down. Martingale that way if you want, you'll end up with more money if you do that every round till the final.

One slip and you lose everything, just not worth it (to me).

Some interesting results today, Djokovic breezed through his 3 sets, Murray got the job
done against Berrettini, Ruud had a tough one against Machac? and dropped a set,
Rune was efficient with his 3 setter and Zverev took 5 sets to win.

I haven't started betting on this yet, I want to see who is performing well
1683  Economy / Collectibles / Re: FUNDED COLLECTIBLES on: January 17, 2023, 01:46:17 PM
I don't own any loaded/funded collectibles mostly because I could see myself having
to peel them to access the funds out of necessity. It has always been in the back of my mind
that I would not necessarily be the only one with the private keys no disrespect to any of the active
makers here intended
. This outlook has held me back from expanding my collection.

But.....with all the discussion around key generation and work flow by other makers it does shed
some light as to what a conscientious procedure should be.

And I applaud everyone who will carry on and support the loaded projects.

Personally I will probably continue holding off on loaded/funded collectibles instead I would
opt for a DIY collectible.

1686  Other / Meta / Re: How many forum members do you know by real name? on: January 16, 2023, 03:39:49 PM
Given that bitcointalk is a specific forum where many users value their privacy, it is quite logical to me that very few members have met in real life, but on the other hand, those who trade in physical things know each other's real names. I can't say the exact number of people whose real name I know, because over the years in communication with some members they wrote me their real name, but let's say the number is between 5-10.

That's the thing, anyone active on the Collectibles board will be on "first name terms" with
other collectors.

I know over 10 first names
I chat regularly with 3
and chat weekly with 1

and not specifically about Bitcoin!

But I haven't met face to face with anyone or know what they look like.
1687  Economy / Economics / Re: My investments ahead of the 2024 halving 100% Bitcoin on: January 16, 2023, 01:15:48 PM

That's good mate, you have a clear plans ahead on where and when you are going to invest your money. For me, I will start accumulating fiat that I will soon trade to bitcoin as well, I need to make all things to get more bitcoin before halving. We all know the effect of halving. If there's other coin that I want to invest as well will be eth and bnb.
I still have not seen convincing evidence that halving affects the price of bitcoin, there are many discussions about this, but there is still no clear answer. Bitcoin was worth buying throughout 2022, it’s not too late to start doing it now either, but what if we have already entered the bull market phase?

Growth always starts unexpectedly, and what we see now may well be the beginning of growth. The move from 17k to 21k was very fast, maybe many who were waiting for a further drop and didn't buy are still waiting now and not buying, but they may miss out on a good price and will buying even more expensive.

The halving is part of a cycle, it's the start of a new cycle actually and the markets do react
to the event, peaking about 12 months after the event. It's never too late to buy Bitcoin.

I have no problem with bitcoin maximalists which is a good thing because you don't need to worry too much about your portfolio. But if you say that all altcoins are not worth investing in, then I don't think so, I'm not talking about the top 10 or 100 here, because investing in altcoins, there are many factors to conclude whether it is a project to invest in or not. I will only talk about ETH, it is also an altcoin, and it has been with bitcoin at the top of the market for many years. So I don't think all altcoins are hype and scheme.

Top 10 by market cap doesn't matter because you have things like XRP there that's a total scam with large premine made by a former founder of scam exchange Mt. Gox.
XRP is also a security and the US agencies are after them. Sooner or later they'll be in trouble.

I don't understand why so many people still invest in scam cryptocurrencies in 2023 just because their market cap is high.

Personally I still have some ETH that I bought in 2019 for less than $200 so I don't feel the need to get rid of it. Apart from that I only have bitcoin.

in the promise or hope they will score a 100x return.

The "Top 10" in Coinmarketcap is absolutely no marker for investing in scam tokens.
I can name some former "Top 10" tokens which everyone once raved about and where
are they now? heading for #100 and beyond.

To respond to the OP, I am 100% all in on Bitcoin, I have no other investments. But my
backing of Bitcoin is not aimed at the 2024 halving or even the one after, it's longer term.
1688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 16, 2023, 01:00:07 PM
I don't think I will get to see any matches live unfortunately. Looking through
the results on both the man's and women's side I don't see any upsets as such on day 1.

Nadal finished strong in that 4th set 6-1. If it was a three set match you would say it was
a close one but alas the 5 set GS is a completely different thing to deal with.

1689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 16, 2023, 07:19:33 AM

Ah yes I see now, it makes more sense to play it that way, only thing is it's difficult with
a 12 hour time zone difference.

Nadal v Draper is in the 4th set, Nadal has broken to go 3-1 in that set, he should bring it
home from here now.

Better betting results this weekend, 3 from 4!

Quote
Ospreys v Montpellier - Montpellier to win @1.7

Ospreys were able to hold off Montpellier and win by scoring a try in the 77th minute with a try!

Anyway I'm happy enough with my bets this round.

Round 4 next weekend. Of the 24 teams there are 6 unbeaten, Leinster, Cell C Sharks,
Saracens, Toulouse, La Rochelle and Leicester Tigers. I know it's early days but the stand
out for me so far is Leinster, unbeaten so far in both the URC and this Champions cup.

Yes well done all to the winners, Mopar and Helena Yu on the 1st. places, Kryptowerk on
bagging two spots and to everyone to took part and the voters.

Another great event which will indeed hopefully be an annual one.

smoothie - let me know who to post (or contact about) the colouring book to.

The AO hits off in about 11 hours, I checked out the draws and I see something a bit dodgy,
or at the least a big upset possibility...

It's a first round draw, Nadal v Draper - Nadal is a bit of an unknown going into this, he is seeded
#1. The odds ATM aren't overwhelmingly with Nadal

1.35 v 3.2 - anyone else see a possible upset?
1693  Economy / Collectibles / Re: ⏩⏩[AUCTION LIST] Auction for ColdKey victims of the apparent theft⏪⏪ on: January 15, 2023, 07:50:06 AM
Apologies for the delay, I have some magazines7 I would like to contribute, as I mentioned
they are not that exotic but could start off someone on their new collection or add to an
existing one.

Maybe I am missing something here.  Are these items going to be auctioned off for a bona fide 403(c) "charity" to sort of make "lemonade out of lemons."  Or, are these funds that will be given to people who got their Coldkey wallets swept by Yogg?

I would see the needs of true charities to be very different from reimbursing folks who have been scammed.  Many people have been scammed out of their crypto over the years.  It's a risk we all understand and take.  Heck, I've been scammed out of BTC before.  So I'm hoping this is an effort to try and generate funds for those who are truly in need as opposed to those who have means, but maybe just a bit less now due to Yogg.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very sympathetic to what happened to all of Yogg's victims, but it's a false equivalency to suggest that this would be a true "charity' auction.

If this is going to a true charity, then for sure I'll have some Cardsmiths items to donate.

And I'm speaking for myself here, not Cardsmiths to be clear.

Perhaps the word "Charity" was the wrong word to use.

The idea here is to gather items the community is willing to donate that will go to fund a "relief fund" for those who have lost money in the coldkey debacle.

Look the way I see it is that there is a really good community here in the collectibles
board and I a positive thing and important to support each other, not just each others projects,
trades or auctions etc. but a times like this. I would like and hope that others would do something
as positive as this if something like this were to happen to me.

Also almost everyone at some point has ran FREE RAFFLES on the board and this is
not that different.

What is different here is the level of betrayal by someone well regarded and well supported.
It is about the loss in both the Bitcoin and the monetary value of the products/project but
it's also about that "knife in the back" feeling which the friends of YOGG and supporters of
the project must feel. Contributing to this venture sends a statement that we are standing together
and supporting each other for now....and the future.
1694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 14, 2023, 07:40:45 PM
~snip

Djoko outright? Hasn't been good value for a long time. You get higher odds betting on his first game with handicap...

agree, expected it a bit higher, below @2 does not make it valuable, better to hold when he loses first set, or eventually two in one match, and than put bet on him (if that even happens, since he is playing from the start lately, not giving first set easily, as on last season Wimbledon)

Nadal is a mystery, but I don't think he is able to compete at high level, but that does not make it easier for Djokovic, it is an other part of the draw, and Medvedev is there as well

Guys, he is 1.77 to win outright - are they not good odds before the tournament even
kicks off?

I get the plan of waiting/hoping he loses the first set as the favourite and claim some
value, although it might not be as large as you would expect, Djokovic can go 2 sets
behind and still win a match.
1695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 14, 2023, 03:11:40 AM
Emotional to see how Djokovic has been received by the public in Australia. He received a standing and big ovation for his return. You can ask yourself whether he deserves that, but people are there as tennis enthusiasts. He played a practice match against Kyrgios. Nice to see that 2 children were also allowed to participate in a double game competition. Kyrgios - Djkovic could also just be another match at the tournament. The public is of course completely behind Kyrgios because he is playing this tournament in his home country. Djokovic is the big favorite here. Alcaraz will not participate.

Djokovic deserved this by the crowd after what happened to him last year and he has a big group of serbian fans there aswell so things are much easier for him and he can feel like is playing at home. Never expected this two players to get a long after what happened in the years before.
Djokovic have been welcomed in a big way. Australian Open promotion sister Djokovic is back. The welcome ceremony with Krygios is really fun to watch and he shared the court with differently abled player and a kid. What a cheer among the audience and we were able to see happy faces.

This is massive for him, I think I read somewhere that he was apprehensive or concerned
about the reception he would get. The fact that he has been overwhelmingly welcomed
back will boost his already high confidence. He has to be worth a bet for outright winner?

Rollbit have him to win @1.77 with closest rival in second, Medvedev @6.3. Nadal is in
fourth spot with odds of 15.0
1696  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTT] PEELED Coldkey Halving Copper Set #120 on: January 14, 2023, 02:33:27 AM
I vote #4 also and would be willing to trade something for this!

The way I personally see it is that I don't have any Coldkey product and in a weird way
want one now based on what has recently happened to help in another way someone
who has been affected by Yogg's act.

I'm having trouble sleeping ATM so I'm browsing in bed, I think I have something which
might work for the trade so will update this later.
1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 13, 2023, 08:17:38 PM
Huh, just found out Osaka's withdrawn. No need for further comment, well documented in this thread. Didn't one of the Williams win a GS while a couple months pregnant?

Anyway: Jabeur's gotta have my money but my bookie's actually not opened Women's outrights yet (what?) so it's Nadal as my only outright (caught at sweet 12/1 odds but it's actually more like 14/1 now haha).

I recon it will be either No.1 Swiatek or indeed No.2 Jabeur, for me Swiatek is a
bit of an unknown in 2023, I think Jabeur has been a bit more active, for the women's
side I would go for either of these, but who I'm not sure yet.

On the men's side I feel Nadal, like Swiatek is a bit unknown in 2023 so far,
alternatively Djokovic would be a strong bet for the outright.
1698  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION LIST] ColdKey charity auction for victims of the apparent theft on: January 13, 2023, 07:14:38 PM
I will also donate something although I don't have anything exotic, but something
interesting nonetheless!

Will update the post with an image later

Rugby Union European Champions Cup

Tonight's match IMO after doing a little research could be a close enough affair so I'm going
to pass on betting on that. Both teams are mid table in their respective leagues.

I'm going with the favourites this weekends R3 to try and get some funds back into the wallet!

Gloucester v Leinster tomorrow - Leinster are favourites and are unbackable @1.07

Sale Sharks v Toulouse - Toulouse to win @1.46

Blue Bulls v Exeter Chiefs - Blue Bulls to win @1.47

London Irish v Stormers - Stormers to win @1.69

Ospreys v Montpellier - Montpellier to win @1.7

Leave him negative trust, distrust him in your trust list & more importantly, if you are affected by this financially contact the police so he can be prosecuted & hopefully jailed.

As far as we know, YOGG HAS SCAMMED people and everyone has a right to be angry naturally.
But in my experience if you back people into corners they don’t react well, if there is any way of getting people any kind of recompense it’s worth talking first if possible??
This is by no means condoning what yogg has done and please do report him for this horrendous shit show !

I never mentioned that YOGG was a victim.

There should be consequences for him for what he did. I hope he has remorse for
what happened, it certainly reads that way.

I hope he makes amends and gets funds reimbursed buy it won't pay for the value of the product
or the betrayal people have felt.
