1761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *7 Exchanges on: February 22, 2014, 01:11:04 PM
Marketed correctly I see big potential growth in Mintcoin's price. I am a Peercoin fan, but the pure proof of stake mining which will save wasted energy won't come for years. Mintcoin is embracing the future now and carving out a nice niche for itself.

Unless something disasterous occurs it's a no-brainer this coin hits 10 million dollars market cap in the next couple of weeks. Especially with 2 more reward halvings to look forward to in the next 2 weeks.

Most of the volume now is just from mintpal. Wait til we hit bigger exchanges like cryptsy and then there is the chinese pumps to look forward to once we hit the chinese exchanges. Good times ahead.

This is the new hype coin of the week.

I see the market cap touching 10 million in the next month. Mark my words.

Hello there MintCoin community. What a ride the last 24 hours have been! We are all feeling pumped aren't we?

I just sold all my MintCoin today, there has been so much volume come through driving up this price the last 24hrs (420+ Bitcoins or $240,000 cash money) that it is simply unsustainable. A quarter million dollars of mostly buys is certainly likely done by a big player or syndicate. If it is a true long-term investor, he will not keep buying this way as he knows he has inflated his buy price to obtain such a huge amount of coins. If it is a 'pump-n-dump' scam group like Wolong that the crypto-lemmings are so fond of, well, then things could get pretty ugly.

Exactly the same thing happened with Vertcoin when it was around the same market cap (1 million dollars). It then exploded up to $7 million dollars market cap in 3 days when it was added to more exchanges. This coin also has the added advantage of sharply decreasingly block rewards which will limit miners dumping each week plus it will promote the belief that the price will rise as the coin becomes rarer.

I've been in this community a long time. I know a snowballing coin when I see one.
1764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 13, 2014, 07:47:16 PM
My theory on the NXT price rise is it's rising because it's a cryptocurrency not based on the Bitcoin protocol and thus isn't experiencing the issues Bitcoin and it's clones are.

An event like this makes it clear why it's good having a crypto based on a whole different codeset.

Shadiest exchange there is.
+1
1767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy fucked up again ? on: February 08, 2014, 08:02:11 PM
I've moved over to MCXnow for the coins they have. The exchange works much better.

I'd rather be on cryptsy than mcxnow after the stunts the owner has pulled.

Same.

** I'd like to ask Fuserleer if he's fixed the *bug* whereby his 2 hatchers receive at least 10x more earnings that everyone else?
The first time someone posted a chart of these earnings, there were 2 which had scores of approximately 300 each. The rest ranged from 30 to 0. Dan admitted the first was his. Then it was pointed out that the second one had "fuser" in the address (a vanity address). Dan claimed this wasn't his and made a show of asking for the private key from whoever it belonged to (no one came forward). This was supposedly a random event, coincidentally happening the first time anyone posted the charts.

What Dan failed to remember is that he had already, a few weeks previously, posted a screenshot of his vanity address with the word "fuser" in it.

This is where 50% of all gains will go, to these hatchers...

Dan should make an official statement on this asap.
1770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is SCHARMBECK Shutting Down? on: February 06, 2014, 06:53:36 PM
I called this 2 months ago, and no one paid attention.

http://cryptolife.net/exposing-the-worldcoin-scam/

I think it is a little premature to assume you were correct about this. I myself am annoyed with the lack of communication from Scharmbeck but that doesn't make it a scam.

He calls everything a scam. A broken clock is right twice a day.
1771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 05, 2014, 09:25:23 PM
Any other vertans here having problems with their cryptsy vtc deposits?

12 confirmations and it's not even showing as pending  Undecided

Coinedup may take 30 seconds to load a page on the screen but at least they have their deposits and withdrawals on point.
1772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 05, 2014, 06:30:58 PM
What is so hard to understand?

I said it doesn't work because the mining process becomes more difficult for everybody. As some guy here said, GPUs wont be able to cope and eventually the only miners will be ASIC with larger memory

GPUs will improve due to moores law + memory becoming cheaper & smaller.
1773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE ANN] [NEW] System - not a coin but whole system - launch 12 february on: February 03, 2014, 08:38:53 PM
Let me summarise your post OP

*Bullshit diagram with a bunch of bullshit*

*donate BTC here*

So OP, let's boil down your logic: Take 5 minutes in photoshop (or whatever bullshit you're using), make a fucking godawful diagram, and you deserve BTC for it. Go away.

I'm normally keen on new projects but I'm leaning towards agreeing with VST here.
1774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Quark is a loser in 2014, Doge is a winner, and how this relates to Vertcoin on: February 03, 2014, 07:00:50 PM
Vertcoin is a smart bet.

Anytime people complain about Litecoin ASICs people will mention vertcoin, in the same way Litecoin got a boost from Bitcoin ASICs,

Crucially, Vertcoin is ASIC resistant whilst still being accessible to GPU miners. And of course it has the Kimoto gravity well difficulty adjustment.

I'm a Litecoin holder and supporter but they are too scared to make the necessary adjustments to Litecoin that the Litecoin community has voted for time and time again. This is why Vertcoin is gaining traction.
1775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 02, 2014, 10:23:37 PM
The best way to market this coin is to make sure we mention it whenever we see a discussion about Litecoin ASICs anywhere (whether it's here, on r/litecoin, the litecoin forums etc).

When people complain about the Litecoin ASICs are coming, tell them about vertcoin! Make it clear it's GPU friendly and it's based off scrypt just like litecoin.

If we market this correctly I see huge growth potential. We want Vertcoin as the the default "go-to" coin for disgruntled Litecoiners. Whenever Litecoin ASICs get mentioned, we want Vertcoin to be the first coin that gets mentioned next.

It would be great to have a dedicated Media/PR page on the coin website - hopefully this is something the guy/gal who is leading the PR campaign can organise, as well as press releases, perhaps some "soundbites" that non techies like me can use to talk about and spread the news about the coin?

Well me personally I am thinking of spending a few hundred dollars on an advertising campaign.

Specifically so we get the message across that Vertcoin is here and ready to accomodate the Litecoin miners who want a scrypt coin which is truly asic resistant whilst still being GPU friendly.

I want to create a separate topic for this, would you guys think this announcements subforum section is appropriate?

I will be collecting ideas exactly how to execute the campaign. Hopefully others will chip in with some donations but either way if it's just me it will still be a few hundred dollars worth of advertising.

To elaborate on this I've decided am going to run some advertising to promote Vertcoin on reddit. I'm going to run my ideas past the reddit/r/vertcoin community tomorrow.

this thread is all good and valid, but aren't you the guy who took 20 BTC in donations for a primecoin gpu miner and never delivered?

edit: i don't mean it to be accusatory sounding, but there was a guy who took a bunch of donations for a primecoin miner an dissapeared awhile. i was thinking it was the same screen name as yours but i could be wrong, and if so i'm sorry.

That is someone else on here, no idea why you think that is connected to me. Is it really too much effort to check your facts first before writing stupid shit like that? I guess I'm speaking to the guy who couldn't be arsed to protect his exchange server with basic security, so it makes sense.
