+1. next time, the law of averages says i won't be so card dead. Tongue.
And you'll punish me for calling 88 lol

Who win the tourney, what I mean the first place? I would be honest right here but it's really tough for an Asian regarding the time the drowsiness really killing me and had to go all-in with the K9 with Steamtyme, and I really thought he was bluffing at that time and as cards showed that was great cards and now what I thought is you could get a bad beat, but it hadn't happened.
It was fun for sure. I actually won this time with betwrong taking second place. If I remember right you ran into my pocket AA. Just unlucky I had it that time, look forward to playing with you again.

Thanks again foma for the bonus prize. Regarding the platform for future tournaments I really enjoyed SWC so I would vote to keep playing here. It didn't hurt they hosted this for no cost which is damn decent of them.
743  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Night @ Sportsbet (Private game exclusively for forum members) on: February 23, 2020, 08:49:21 PM
tough game for me, extremely card dead. the strongest starting hand i saw all game was AQo and never really hit a flop. with Steamtyme and Betwrong to my left calling every raise or c-bet i made, i quickly found myself in push/fold mode with dead cards. Cheesy
Not going to lie it was a little intimidating playing right next to you. Mostly because we have chatted so much strategy in the last month or so. You put me in a tough spot with my pocket 8's with your river bet, in the end I had to call figuring you had no 9's or higher pocket set. Edit: I did sneak a bluff through on you with a pot sized river bet, so it was in my mind when you made this play as well. It was the 22356 board, when I was BB had to assume you barely hit that board ever.

What nearly killed me was my pocket J's against Betwrong after I won with AA. I couldn't have turned and rivered worse cards, I didn't think they called my s-bet with an 8, maybe QQ or better but wasn't sure.

In the end I got pretty lucky, but my 10 BB stack jamming game was on point. I could have easily been out in 3rd when I jammed on the flop with a straight draw and bottom pair, got there on the river. Then hitting a couple of Club flush draws helped me take the title this time around. Edit: Oh wait and the time I jammed K, J maybe and sucked out on Ax for another fortunate tournament life saving double up.

Had a great time playing with you guys. Couldn't chat as I was playing on my phone and it was hard enough keeping it in reception. Great game all around

Edit: Another spot that just came to mind where I can't believe I didn't go broke was when Iv4n slow played those Pocket Aces that hit a set on the flop. Considering I had A7 and hit 2 pair on the turn. Saving grace was that it went 4 to a straight and I believe the BB was still in this hand so I figured they hit this a lot of the time.

Here is my BTC address thanks again - 3QVEDMccavKdfvmt5yDJ9enKr7PrUn7Ms2
744  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Night @ Sportsbet (Private game exclusively for forum members) on: February 23, 2020, 05:41:03 PM
Little under a half hour, got my phone charged up and I'm wedging myself in the corner where I get reception lol.

Anyone on the fence let's remember this is a pretty sweet spot for a fun game. 100% prize pool, and there is an additional bonus thanks to the generosity of figmentofmyass, and buwaytress if we get up to 15 players.

Had a lot of fun playing tournament #1 and I expect this to be the same. Good luck everyone
745  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: First time/Small miner reference for getting started. on: February 23, 2020, 04:11:56 PM
I would suggest just reading through a lot of topics here in the mining section, maybe focus on mining speculation - as it's where a lot of broader or general discussion takes place, then check out mining hardware threads -Review, and gear specific announcement type threads generally have a lot of information and answers. You are already on the mining support board. Here you will find problems people ran into and possible solutions.

All in all this forum is the only additional reading I would suggest, it's where I found most of what I needed. The only thing I would say is be cautious about a large investment in hardware at the moment. The halving is coming up in a couple months time and rewards with diminish. So make sure your numbers make sense for what you expect to get out of mining - low power costs, reasonable purchase price on gear.

Edit: Tip regarding multiple posts, just use the "edit" option on your original post - it's next to "quote" and type in the additional information. The forum has rules against multiple posts in a row. Good luck. That second question by the way would be a good one to ask in the mining speculation board. You will find people with varying responses, maybe check to see if there has been a thread created already.

Bump.

Reminder this is not the topic for discussion. If I delete your post and felt it had any substance to it I have quoted it and placed it in Code here Trust system - Feedback - Flags - intent - ideology by theymos - Deleted Posts

I had previously PM'd an individual their quoted post but will not be doing this for everyone. Your post may also be in a quoted reply.

This is where you will find posts I delete from this topic Trust system - Feedback - Flags - intent - ideology by theymos
I am serious about keeping that topic clean and free from discussion for clarity sake. I won't be bringing all posts here to be preserved should individuals wish to create a topic for discussion, but if I think you put in some effort or it isn't just a repetitive post that you or others have already wedged into many discussions before. I will put the quotes in Code, and will mark them by the date I delete them.

Feel free to discuss my method here, but not your posts or idea. Create your own thread or go discuss on-topic in the original topic in meta.

Deletions from Feb 23 2020.

If I were to create a type 2/3 flag against OGNasty, who is guilty of stealing 500 bitcoin cash from the community, I think I would probably be banned.   (He did return it after he got caught).
Although off-topic here, I've been wondering about this when I read your negative feedback:
The result of the liquidation of 500 BTCs' forkcoins was:
   14.272715 from BCH
   6.818999 from BSV
   0.442951 from BTG
 = 21.534665 BTC
OgNasty didn't steal this, nor did he "get caught": the Forkcoins on the treasurer's address were public knowledge, and I don't think a treasurer should have decided on this without theymos asking for it.

That said: I don't think you'll be banned for creating such a Flag (I've seen much worse Flag abuse), but I would consider it Flag abuse nonetheless: you're not a direct victim here, so you're not allowed to create a type 2/3 Flag on this subject. And even if a victim would have created a Flag, type 2/3 Flags have to be withdrawn once the victim has been made whole. I don't expect such a Flag to get (net) Supporters.
My advice: let it go.

Theymos is not the best person to quote if you would like a forum where

* members are treated equally and with consistency

* free speech is not destroyed under threat of undeserving red tags for voicing an unpopular opinion

* high level scammers on DT can not make red tagging removal deals

* to make sure people are not afraid to bring to light scams where the scammer can ruin their account with red trust

* prevent all the infighting a contued contempt for the abused trust system

* prevent red tags destroying competing legit business or destroy legit completion for sig spots

* preventing dilution and devaluing legitimate direct example of financially motivated wrong doing with warnings about
lemonade, daring to whistle blow on scamming or swearing at someone

I mean if a computer scientist thought he'd start up a boat building business and his first 3 ships all immediately filled with water and are now sitting at the bottom of the ocean due to terrible design and implementation

why publish his " definitive guide to building boats" as if that is the best way to build your boat?

Kind of ..here are some materials,  just join it together however you like. If it looks more like a ship than a squirrel then you're all good to set off for across the 7 seas.

Better to encourage users to use it in way that ensures the entire board is not placed in danger and their free speech is not crushed.

For a sensible guide on how to build a boat that floats and keeps you safe then visit tecshares and join his objective standards guild.

Theymos skill set is programming. I don't think he should be experimenting with systems that require many other skill sets to have a chance of coming up with anything near optimal for the forum.

This thread is advocating using the System designed by a single entity and following the views of a single entity there is nothing decentralized about it other than who is using this design and advice to leverage their own personal gain. That only requires it being decentralized to the first handful of members that manipulated and colluded themselves into power first. Once they were entrenched no further need for any "decentralization"

How not to design, implement and advise people how to use a trust system.

Delete the tagging and sharpen up level 1 flags.

This is not intended as a discussion since the problems are insoluble until the above changes have been made.

No offence to theymos he is a computer programmer and systems admin. He can not be expected to build complex systems requiring multiple skill sets and multiple long term tests optimally first time.

Hence why schooling people to behave in says that have proven to result in insoluble and serious problems is simply not sensible.

The guide on The op is not sensible.

My ideology of creating a boat that floats should not be conflated with my advice to drill huge holes in any surface that looks like it may repel water. Just so long as the reader is clear on that.

Fair enough, think I misunderstood the purpose of that account... my bad  Tongue
not a problem, sorry for the late reply.

My participation on the forum.

I just wanted to take the chance to update anyone who cares. I have been less active in the last few weeks and will probably remain that way for the next month or so. It really depends on where and when I find the time to post; or something I care enough to post about.
I have started a new job, which has been a long process and took a lot of my free time, while also working my old job until this Sunday. What can I say I don't like leaving a sure thing for the unknown with a family to support. My new role is busier and requires a lot of learning so I will have to dedicate more of my time to this than participating. So far it seems I will still be able to access and participate on the forum from work as time goes on  but it won't be to the extent my previous role allowed.
It truly was a retirement job and that is not what I need or want at this point in my life.
For the time being most of my foruming is done on my phone, so don't mind the typos. This is generally going to be on my breaks and lunch hours. I am waiting on a new monitor for my PC then I can put in some time at home - especially for projects like my newbie info videos. I hate using the laptop but have powered through a few times.

TL/DR I will be posting less, but will still be active. Still monitoring so safe to trade - due diligence always required. Will respond to PM'S.

Aaaaaand I'm in lol. There are at least 4 of us after I registered last night. I'm sure more will pop in day of. That's pretty generous of them to do this with no rake. I haven't played around on the site at all, but if it's smooth I'd be down for making this the regular spot. Especially because anyone can join.

See everyone Sunday.

I'll register tonight. Been crazy busy but will definitely be there for this. Thanks for setting it up, and to you and buwaytress for the bonus offerings.
752  Other / Meta / Re: There is any problem if anyone make any post on behalf of banned user? on: February 19, 2020, 06:04:10 PM
A single post for information and clarity sake is fine. Situations like the middle of a sale or escrow, even managing a campaign fit into this scenario.Sometimes mods have allowed a user a mini grace period to tie up a loose end before beginning the temp ban. I have reported users in the past who continued to run their business through a proxy during their temp ban, that's bullshit as far as I'm concerned.
753  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: M20S acting up - Error 2010 on: February 14, 2020, 10:01:16 PM
So now I have a bricked unit and can't be sure if I'm the problem now. I received my card writer and proceeded to write the m20s control board program to it. When I put the SD card in and then boot the miner without an ethernet connection the lights don't flash the way they are supposed to. - should be red flashing while it burns then solid green when done. I get red and green flashing at the same time.

What I am unsure of is if I'm doing it right as Yang sent me the files and a program as a package, the phoenixcard writing program doesn't launch on my pc so I downloaded win32disk imager and used that. It seemed to work fine but obviously something isn't quite right. I'm guessing I won't hear from Yang until Sunday night so we'll see what happens.
754  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Night @ Sportsbet (Private game exclusively for forum members) on: February 14, 2020, 03:57:12 PM
we're obviously not playing on the 16th now. what do you guys think, should i go ahead and set up a game for the 23rd? i've been in contact with a rep at SwC. they can set something up for us. i can add a couple mBTC to the prize pool to make things a little more interesting.
I'd be fine with trying out SWC just to be sure we have a tourney and everyone gets more than a week to get prepped. I'll just have to see if i can access it through mobile.
This might be useful anyways for everyone who couldn't join or didn't want to kyc.
Mind you it's my last day at my current job so i could likely use the wifi and my laptop lol.

756  Other / Meta / Re: Revival account selling stuff right away? Looks legit to you? on: February 13, 2020, 01:42:33 AM
And how someone not using his account during months can reply 2 minutes after a reply?
I can't speak to the rest of it other than it looks suspicious as a a legitimate sale.
With the reply though you can get email notifications when someone replies to a topic you've created or posted in iirc. I used this feature when I first got here for some threads I was interested in and it used to flood my inbox. Probably part of how I got hooked on the forum so fast lol. Still a very fast response time.
757  Other / Meta / Re: My post was deleted, wrong moderation on: February 13, 2020, 12:25:27 AM
There is no reason it should have been deleted especially if you were just doing a translation. I would re-post it personally and just preface the post explaining what it is and where you took it from. I'm guessing the thread is moderated by any moderator and not necessarily one for the section, so it could have been a mistake.
How long ago was your other post?

If it's a self-modded thread nothing can be done, but if that's the case I would create a new thread to act as your local one without self moderation.
758  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Mining shipping container location on: February 13, 2020, 12:21:10 AM
It will entirely come down to your town/city regulations. Especially if you are registering as an LLC. So if you are purely zoned residential it's likely a no, but you would need to go to the municipal government office and ask them about zoning and what you can('t) do. The other problem is this will likely be loud and if you are within 20 feet of neighboring houses you are going to run into noise complaint issues more than anything.
759  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The worst part about using cryptocurrencies, Newbies should be more careful. on: February 12, 2020, 11:55:14 PM
The worst part of using crypto is the choices of what you have to use it on. The lack of legitimate games and services after more than a decade of development is shockingly disappointing.
I have to agree. It seems like there were more options before the late 2017 boom, and unfortunately the large run up and subsequent correction killed off the momentum. I think it will be a long time before we see any vast improvements in this. The most likely scenario is someone with a fat wallet decides to do more to drive adoption and operates an online marketplace that can compete with pricing.
Unfortunately it takes people who are interested in furthering the agenda and not necessarily their own personal wealth. I think we are a long way off, I've essentially been reduced to using crytpo as a means to avoid fees between USD/CAD.

~snip~
I think more people need to play around with their wallets/apps and with transactions in general. Sure there is a cost but getting used to actually sending a transaction and choosing a fee are valuable learning experiences. Then download a dummy wallet and practice what ifs, like lost password or restoring on another device in case of hardware failure. I not long ago had to restore my ADA wallet as my antivirus program thought part of it was unnecessary. These things can be nerve racking if you haven't done them before, so might was well try it out with little to no real loss/cost.
