821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what happens to bitcoin if the electricity and internet goes out.? on: October 26, 2022, 02:28:23 PM

Yeah this was what I was thinking of. There are others thing to mind when electricity and the internet goes out. I can even imagine that just Google being shut down for an hour then a lot of web projects out there would be stalled considering how many are really dependent or finding Google really useful.

Couple of days ago, there was a heavy rain here in my country that caused power outage and heck I cannot almost be productive without the use of electricity and internet.

Oh hey! I also watch them and Jim Browning as well. Kit is even streaming as of writing this.

The script are almost the same to each and every scammers not gonna lie. It is just that those typical refund scam usually and they require remote access to your PC claiming that they will connect you to a "bs" secured server of whatever company they were from, be it Geek Squad, Microsoft, Norton, etc. It is quite scary that they were really up to loot whatever you have in your PC as they could already had planted some malware or "backdoor" in your computer giving them almost the full access to it without your knowledge.
823  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Advise to Forum members on PMs offers on: October 24, 2022, 09:17:52 PM
Well, I have never received such an offer. I do however wonder how much these people usually offer you? If anyone has experience, I would love to know.
It varies. You could receive offers through Telegram or from your inbox here in the forum. I ended up encountering from both platforms though I humbly decline since I do not have the time to review their projects or their ANN thread or even their main website.

Usually it is just the usual introduction to what their project is all about and sometimes they do put their main website, and sometimes they don't. They will offer you a payment of either a token or a stablecoin in an exchange. From how it ends up, I do not know since I declined.
824  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's up with ranking on: October 24, 2022, 09:11:12 PM
But generally, established members give more advice and are more knowledgeable than lower-ranked members.
True and just by how some "newbie" ranking turned into Hero-Legendary within months just tells how experienced they are in crypto (not just Bitcoin). It is quite amazing to know that there are plenty of Bitcoin users out there that are just roaming around the internet and not just spending their whole time in the forum.

In the end, forum rank is forum rank anyway just like how karma count and awards are just points in Reddit.

I recall this figure of speech when I was learning programming back in the days.

Quote
"Jack of all trades, master of none."

Just learn what you wanted to learn in Bitcoin through this forum. Fancy general Bitcoin discussion? We got Bitcoin Discussion board there. Just general economics in crypto? We got Economics.
Oh you wanted to learn more about Mining? Mining section is for you there.
How about trading in crypto? See that "Trading Discussion" board, feel free to read around and join discussions there.

You do not need to learn everything in this forum, OP. Just pick a niche and stick with it.
826  Other / Off-topic / Re: What about a smartphone keyboard on: October 23, 2022, 04:54:22 PM

Keyboard app like Gboard are even vulnerable to these kinds of Clipboard malware. And to be honest, I even get a strange behavior back then when I was using Touchpal keyboard. Not sure if the theme that I downloaded was malicious ones or it is the Touchpal itself.

Aside from what was mentioned above me, you might also try to avoid those random USB keyboard that are capable of being connected to your Android phone if you can avoid it. Those have some weird behavior that I do not understand wtf is happening to my phone, lol. Good thing is that I do not involve any seed phrase nor any sensitive information in my phone.

Or even in Wish. I remember a lot of hardware content creators buying some stuffs from there and ended up having a different from what they were expecting. Good thing I do not cheap out on PC components anyway though I am also avoiding overspending on peripherals. Cheesy

Cables are a lot easier to protect.
True. I also hate dealing with latency issues with the wireless devices.  Could be convenient for some but not for me.

You're going to be surprised how many people have way more knowledge in Bitcoin than some members here and they have not even registered to this forum just yet.

Don't let the forum ranking make you think that you can't make decision based on the advice given by the full members. You should still research the advices given to you and make the decisions there. Back when the ranking system was activity-based, it was all too easy for some users to rank-up, but now it might not be that easy for them.

OP don't take advice from anybody except yourself,.....
This is quite a bad advice. It makes the user close-minded from any other new knowledge. It would be best to at least take consideration of advices then make decisions after you had made a couple of research from whatever was advised to you.
829  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Advise to Forum members on PMs offers on: October 21, 2022, 04:38:26 PM

Well some do attach their ANN thread so that would be your judge if it was a scam or nah. I had few users contacting me to rent my space, but I am not taking any for now since I do not have the time to check the project that they are trying to promote through me.

Usually the offer are through some stablecoins with a fixed amount, so that is that.

Dang, I could not imagine people buying this to mess with people, although I was expecting somehow that these kinds of cable exists anyway since it is USB.

I was thinking of getting a wireless keyboard back in the days, but meh I ain't risking my security as well with dongles these days considering that hardware keylogger were always there to screw me up. Cheesy
831  Other / Meta / Re: Section to avoid and section to postl on: October 20, 2022, 05:39:36 PM
some people become insecure about what they do when they get criticized.
I mean sometimes you just got to have a thicker skin. You're going to meet all types of people you could imagine here in the internet. If such words would offend a user really easily, then s/he might consider finding another community if it a toxic one or the internet might not be for him/her.

If the user can't just accept a constructive criticism, then obviously s/he might not be willing to learn at all.

I had met a lot of users in here that are pretty chill while there were few that are just naturally rude and heck like I care. Roll Eyes
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin to be used for micropayments on Twitter? on: October 20, 2022, 05:28:05 PM
~
You could be right considering how many followers he has in Twitter, though I would not even try to buy the hype. It is not just worth wasting my time and energy following a random celebrity in the internet and it also involves crypto so.....

Addition of cryptos as micropayments would not affect anything though since I do not think that people would go into Twitter to involve their money, let alone Paypal including cryptos back then that did not even become popular of a feature.

Let the guy be the guy. There ain't anything we can do about it anyway.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Borrow fiat with your Bitcoin and never sell on: October 20, 2022, 02:45:36 PM

Well obviously avoid it if you can. Don't invest if you don't have the money to do so. It is that simple. Surely there would be some people trying to justify that it could help your credit score, but who know what crypto will bring to your borrowed money in the next few years.

Is it a gain or nah? Imagine if you bought some Bitcoin back around when it was 64k, but then now it is 19.2k and your loan is almost reaching its repayment date.

Turning off your PC would just temporarily close the connection between you and the other computer if I can recall correctly. This is why many scam busters in Youtube tend to advice their victims to uninstall AnyDesk completely, since there were "scammers" claiming to be a legitimate technician that would ask for a remote access to your PC.

I partly use AnyDesk to my freelance work, but then I would uninstall it once it is not needed anymore. Might be a too paranoid of a move, but it would be better for me to stay safe.
835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is this possible? on: October 19, 2022, 10:09:37 PM

Aside from what Cantsay mentioned,  keyloggers would be one of the things that could have caused that. Did that guy have his PC remotely controlled by someone? It is possible that a third party planted a remote keylogger to that guy's PC.

Never let a random technician just get remote access to your PC. They usually use software like Anydesk.
836  Economy / Economics / Re: Social media, now looking more for business than for socializing. on: October 19, 2022, 05:45:39 PM
It's easier for them to make business through it because they've got metrics and records of us on how we browse through them. While for the other users, they're using the platforms as if it's an actual marketplace which we've been seeing already from different friends that we've got.
Considering how easy it is to start one especially in FB Marketplace which is a scam pit for some, I am not surprised that many business owners are almost always going to have their own Facebook Page and established profile in the Marketplace though I got to admit that the whole FB Marketplace system is quite confusing.

There is so much stuffs given to business owners that they don't even have to bother to touch. Not sure if there are such thing as Twitter Marketplace, but I heard that Telegram is being used there as well.
837  Other / Meta / Re: Does Forum Advertising Considered as a Formal Work? on: October 19, 2022, 05:37:58 PM
I would probably keep my personal information away from the forum. Users have registered their own username in here for obvious reasons instead their legal names or anything related.

Plus making SCs to gain reference is like being a mod in Discord and asking your fellow mods to reference you to prospective employers which is not.......credible unless you are indeed a social media manager which I see a lot in freelancing world.

If you are a BM, well that's a different story. It can somehow be a "formal work" of Data Entry.
838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What you need to know to avoid possible scam on: October 18, 2022, 08:18:01 PM
~
I can remember scam baiters trying to stall scammers all over the phone and it never fails to make me laugh just how genuine annoyed they are when they cannot get through their scripts. They're so annoyed just because they wanted to move forward with another victim after they looted their first one.

It is funny to keep stalling them regardless even if there was deadline, lol.
839  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Youtube Scam in Action on: October 18, 2022, 08:14:52 PM
~
I never even saw the video or I could have just used the wrong keyword.

Regardless even if famous Youtubers that I sometimes watch posted a crypto link, I would not buy it anyway. Youtubers/streamers are not your friends and you should not always trust just because they are popular. I believe there was even fake Elon Musk pages popping up before when he was still like a burning news here in crypto.
840  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Youtube Scam in Action on: October 17, 2022, 01:23:45 PM
Who the heck is John Bitcoin anyway?

If I can recall correctly, there was also a fake Binance channel with 500k subs in Youtube back then but it was a giveaway and a VOD of previous stream was only playing making it look like a real live stream. Not sure how much was scammed though. I might have watched some tutorials for day trading in crypto from some Youtubers like Crypto Jack, but I would never find myself clicking whatever links that they are going to provide.

Even if Mr. Beast even did one of those, I would never.  Cheesy
