1761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: are crypto owners naturally paranoid? on: November 14, 2021, 08:13:27 PM

Never heard of that exchange, but reading that from your experience scares me to even deal with any exchange.
I never held my crypto coins anyway in any exchange, maybe I had some in a custodial wallet, but mostly they are off for purchasing some goods that I need to buy and others are already held in my Electrum wallet. I have not bought hardware wallets yet, since I am not that big of a holder right now. Smiley
1762  Other / Meta / Re: grin is now accepted for forum payments on: November 14, 2021, 03:08:56 PM
Does there any available stats about how many users used Grin to purchase the Copper membership? Anyway to know if users are still using this option?
So far, I cannot find more and latest stats for users that used this method to buy CM except from this that theymos wrote 2 years ago.
Since grin started being accepted, 5 out of 687 payments (0.7%) were via grin.

theymos accepting Grin is symbolic more than anything.

Right, I basically did it just for fun. I didn't expect all that many payments.
I had never used grin myself for any purpose. Cheesy
1763  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't ever quit your job to trade crypto. on: November 13, 2021, 08:25:19 PM
~
Like Pamadar mentioned below you, that 5 years should already be enough unless you're not taking crypto trading seriously leading surely to eggs and zeroes.
If you're still not quite comfortable within those years, then surely you had wasted your life and have not learned anything and surely sticking to your job would be really a good idea at that moment.
I haven't recalled someone quitting their job yet for crypto.
1764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the best ways to invest money? on: November 13, 2021, 08:17:05 PM
~
Why am I investing? Because there might be something that I might throw in and get something more at in the next time I check on it.
Goal? Yeah, I am aiming to be rich in crypto actually. With the experience of learning and investing, why wouldn't I choose the opportunity to do both? My goal is to learn in here and at the side, well rake a few bucks from my investment. Smiley
Time horizon? I am a long-term holder so that surely speaks for itself.
1765  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to spend smerits? on: November 13, 2021, 02:30:51 PM
How generous?
Check this post from the thread made Coin-1, OP.  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4523027.msg58364214#msg58364214)
This is as of October 2021. You can check the first page of the thread for the overall.
Check how each members in that list give merit to different users. Smiley

My standards? To be specific, just a quality and/or a funny post would do to me, but it still depends sometimes. Just remember that nobody is obliged to give you a merit. Think of it as a like or react button in Facebook.

There is no limit for giving merits to a post as long as your sMerits allow it, as what everyone mentioned above.

Most of the unofficial rule/s were already mentioned below you. Just don't think too much of your merit count, and just contribute as best as you can.
1766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the meme coin still worth holding on: November 13, 2021, 12:09:40 PM
What's your reason for still holding the meme coin in your wallet, and when do you intend selling it all off to buy a more purposeful coin or token. Are you holding just because of the hype, or do you have any analysis be it technical or fundamental technique that is giving you a go ahead signal to hold more or the hype is doing the work for you.

Memes are suppsoed to be humorous, and not to be taken seriously. I know there are meme coins like Doge, but this is going way overboard that cryptos are becoming memes. For sure, it is only for hypes and hypes aren't that great when it comes to your investment.
For short-term holders or the one that buys the hype, sure but for many long-term holders here, nah, I'll pass on that.
I don't think they serve any purpose at all anyway except for humor although I heard that Doge is being used as a coin in casinos.
1767  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm new here,can someone please show me around🙂 on: November 13, 2021, 06:11:52 AM

1768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can we avoid scams in blockchain? on: November 11, 2021, 08:15:45 PM
Not sure if OP is just promoting a platform or is purely into discussing this kind of matter.

@OP Isn't kind of obvious already on how to know what's 'too good to be true'? If someone promises you to 8x your money overnight, I don't think there's any point to tell if it is a scam or not.
1769  Other / Meta / Re: Badly need your help your guys. on: November 11, 2021, 07:43:03 PM
User LogitechMouse encountered the similar issue back in September, which was also about this Phoenix Mining stuffs in this thread.
Your best shot is signing a message from your staked address in here.

Credits to LoyceV
I saw the post you're referring to from one of the scraped post from LoyceV's Search Tool, but I am not going to directly refer it in here as it contains the direct download link from Github. It's basically the changelog of the software, if this was indeed what you're referring to.

The  new  version  is  finally  ready.  You  can  download  PhoenixMiner  5.8c  from  here:

-
-

Changes in version 5.8c :
Full LHR disable mode -lhrdis <n>  1 - yes (default), 0 - no
Added lock core clock
Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RTX 3060/3080/3090 cards
Implemented new "turbo" kernels (-clkernel 3) for AMD Polaris cards that can work with the current DAG sizes over 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses double the VRAM and will
provide slightly faster hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command-line parameter to specify how much VRAM to be left unused
Increased the maximum supported DAG epoch to 600 (i.e. until about Sep 2023)
Implemented full hardware control for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux. Note that with these cards under Linux you need to specify relative core voltage: e.g. -
cclock -50 will set the core voltage to be 50 mV under the default value
Added ROCr kernels for Vega, Radeon VII and Navi cards. With these kernels you will be able to run these cards with Linux drivers 20.45 and later but the performance will
be lower than with the older PAL drivers and kernels. We recommend using AMD Linux driver 20.30 for all cards except RX6900/6800/6700
Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux (there is no need to run these cards with -clkernel 0 anymore)
Added support for AMD Windows drivers up to 21.8.1. Note that Radeon VII cards will not work with drivers 21.6.1 or higher - you need to use older drivers for proper
operation of these cards
Added support for AMD Linux drivers up to 21.20 (use older drivers for Vega or Radeon VII cards as they will not work with 21.20). Note that the latest 21.30 drivers are
not supported (and the initial testing shows that even the older Polars cards are not working properly with them, so avoid 21.30 for now)
Numerous other fixes and small improvements

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.8c
1770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming on blockchain is the future on: November 11, 2021, 04:34:52 PM

Well Axie is almost like bouncing around the room, sometimes the hype just dies out and sometimes it gets hyped up again depending on the price of course. People would continue to quit and go back regardless when they see something beneficial. Some just don't mind grinding over and over for these NFTs even if it costs them their sleep, and yeah I had one friend that would grind all night for SLPs and boosting his MMRs. It's insane.
1771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Making money while gaming on: November 11, 2021, 04:29:54 PM
~
Well Ubisoft had made a lot of popular games, but somehow from my previous mentions, they don't really care about what community wants at least from my experience in one of their games (Siege). People would just quit and leave the game if Ubisoft does not listen to their community needs.
I am even not comfortable on how long would their NFT last.
1772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin can help Local Communities on: November 10, 2021, 08:08:07 PM
~
Nah, you do not need a thread for it. Just share us the result after it succeeds and we would be happy to cherish your success of your friend's mining community in his village.  Here in my community, I doubt that they even know what cryptocurrencies are and I already have the doubts that they are going to look into it anyway.
Mining is popular in my country considering that everyone is buying GPU for ETH, but here exactly in my area? Nah, they'll pass.
1773  Other / Meta / Re: Red Tag is becoming Rampant in the Forum. on: November 10, 2021, 04:37:59 PM
When a user has a -ive tag, I mostly read the feedback first before deciding to make a reply or quoting them. If they were tagged as a spammer or account farmer
People get tagged for spamming? I seriously need to check people’s feedback page LOL. JK, I don't care. I quote if I find it necessary to quote. Feedback is mostly given for having better trading experience. I would prefer using feedback for that purpose.
Well account farming leads to spamming anyway, so when I see an "Account farming" tag I don't bother make any interaction with them.
While the feedback is indeed for trading experience, it is still a good precaution for me whether I should interact with whoever that user is or not through whatever means, after I saw that orange "-1" below their profile.
1774  Other / Meta / Re: Red Tag is becoming Rampant in the Forum. on: November 10, 2021, 04:08:48 PM
When a user has a -ive tag, I mostly read the feedback first before deciding to make a reply or quoting them. If they were tagged as a spammer or account farmer, I don't bother replying to them unless they mentioned something "quite interesting" which I highly doubt that it will happen as I expect that I won't even make an interesting conversation with them.

By a way of checking if some of these users were tagged without genuine reasons.
It would be better to let them address their own tag/s or feedback/s by their own for now. If they really care about their accounts, they wouldn't do something stupid in here or at least reach out to the user/s that left them a feedback either through threads or DMs.
1775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If the internet is down in the future on: November 10, 2021, 01:20:21 PM
~
I am not sure that people would even think first about their portfolio when the internet dies or just went non-existent for a while. Just imagine those entities inside the internet when they even shutdown for a while. Let's say.... Google.
It greatly affected the internet traffic. Recently even Facebook going down for around couple of hours, people went crazy in Twitter. Cheesy

Source: What would happen if the Google server crashes for 30 min?
1776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Regulations for crypto currencies on: November 09, 2021, 07:33:49 PM
~
I am having a bit of a hard time trying to grasp what you are saying, but if you are referring to the problems that might happen if cryptos are to be regulated then you shouldn't....unless you purely depend on custodial wallets where your cryptos are being stored.
Surely if cryptos get regulated which is likely to get taxed, then slowly people would go to the point where personal or p2p transaction would be the best thing to do when trading or selling their coins to avoid these.
1777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming on blockchain is the future on: November 09, 2021, 11:53:27 AM
~
Well ICO and IEO were different games, and we cannot compare the current NFTs to those. Even non-gamers are actually doing Axie right now actually. I am sure that they will just quit when the SLP just plummets. It is quite an interesting game actually from what I saw in the screenshot, but buying Axies are not my cup of tea. Yes scholarships are there, but it is kind of hassle to pursue one, and it is really a "grindy game" from what I heard.
1778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 'Squid Game' cryptocurrency scams $2 million on: November 09, 2021, 11:41:22 AM
~
I heard and read this news a lot of times actually even in my own Facebook newsfeed. People are into trends actually and we can never ever blame. It is almost like there is a thin line between crypto trends and these series trends. Quite surprised that some previous trending Netflix series did not have any coin related to it at all. Cheesy
Can't say more for what you said about Shiba Inu.
1779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best thing you bought with Bitcoin? on: November 08, 2021, 08:03:03 PM
~

The second best thing you can buy with bitcoin is mining hardware to mine at home because not only does it allow you to obtain bitcoin anonymously, but also it results in more coins for you to spend in the future.
To be honest, I got a GPU and I bought it with Bitcoin using my custodial wallet. It is not a mining hardware, just a GPU. I am not interested to mine for now, since price of rigs these days are quite annoying and broken. Might need to chill down a little bit.
I do not mind buying GPU without anonymity anyway, since I bought it from a reputated store.
1780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin ever get regulated on: November 08, 2021, 08:00:56 PM
This topic have taken the center stage of my thought we have seen how countries around the world are gradually opening the economy to adopt bitcoin and as a result a lot of government policies are already underway to develop a framework that allow regulation of the bitcoin ecosystem which have made me to wonder on this topic. Can a decentralized currency like bitcoin ever get regulated?
Talking about Bitcoin itself, as what others mentioned above, hell no. You already mentioned "decentralized" there, buddy.
Using custodial wallets that allow people to receive and send Bitcoin? Yes, in fact KYC is a lot stricter on my own custodial wallet whenever someone is freshly registered.
