841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF is happening with NXT? Fucking Nothing!!! on: November 13, 2014, 11:46:47 PM
Most average crypto users don't even understand NXT, how will general society?

Most average internet users don't even understand tcp/ip, how will general society? ...

One of the important points about Nxt (that a load of people still don't get) is that Nxt is designed, not only as a crypto-currency, but also a toolkit to  to allow people to build stuff on a crypto blockchain.
It's the third party, targeted applications that will get the mainstream involved in crypto, not the hassle of downloading their own blockchains and setting up nodes.

For example:
Nxtty: messenger service based on and funded by Nxt.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nxtty/645168825569486

Secure AE: The Nxt Asset Exchange in your browser, no client needed. Also implemented a simplified form of Smart Contracts a few weeks ago..... Grin
http://www.secureae.com/

FreeMarket: de-centralised, anonymous marketplace running over the Nxt blockchain. (This isn't quite as simple, but it is cool)
http://nxtfreemarket.com/

and there's more coming up. This is how to get to the mainstream, guys, take note.
Not everyone is ready to jump into the world of crypto-currency, but pretty much everyone is happy to use a good messenger app or a marketplace.

Damn, the swine!  I'm out.....
843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in OpenBazaar? on: November 13, 2014, 08:07:58 PM
Hoi, poofknuckle! Great work on Freemarket, mate. Cheesy

Well the key difference is, that openBazaar is able to run with any cryptocurrency, while Nxt just added a feature to themselves, that will  probably not run on other cryptos. It works, but it's kinda against the spirit of open source.

This is one of the things people don't get about Nxt: its an open, de-centralised system with no set leadership structure. If people want to make an app based on Nxt, they don't have to ask any permission, just get down and do it, which is what the FreeMarket team did.
The FreeMarket app is therefore not an integral part of the Nxt core, but is an independent project running on the Nxt blockchain.

Or we should just kick it every few minutes.... Grin

Seriously, Jabo, that is good work. Great overview of how we got to where we are today.....

Interested!
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF is happening with NXT? Fucking Nothing!!! on: November 13, 2014, 07:43:30 PM
Hold for sure, buy in more if you get the urge.........the thing with Nxt is that we have amazing technology, but not so very much marketing and PR.

As an example: CounterParty just doubled on the news that they will have a Smart Contracts implementation up before Ethereum.
Cool beans, all right, but the Nxt eco-system will soon have 2 different Smart Contract systems up and running, take a look here:
https://nxtforum.org/smart-contracts/

That's not even including the simple Smart Contracts implementation that's already been integrated into Secure Asset Exchange:
http://www.secureae.com/
https://angel.co/secure-asset-exchange
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nmLU284fIk

This is just one example of the way that Nxt has a load of amazing 2nd generation features already up and running, but we're not playing the game of pumping Nxt like fuck just to get a short term price rise on the back of a hype announcement.

Take a look at the CMC asset listings:
http://coinmarketcap.com/assets/
The entire asset market is dominated by Nxt-based assets.

Pretty soon, all of this superior tech will become very obvious, and then we will see NXT prices rise (and maybe even skyrocket).
So, yeah, hodl. The payoff may be next week, may be 3 months down the line, but Nxt is a solid investment.

Hey Synechist, where did the new xcurrency thread go? I'm getting this error message:

"The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."

Thanks in advance for your response.

We're wondering the same thing. It seems someone deleted it.

Perhaps, since we still have the old XC thread in the ANN section, they erroneously considered it a spam thread.

It's very weird.

I've written to Theymos about it and will report back if I get a response.

Here's your answer:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855007.0

Thanks Battbot.

Pretty incomplete answer in my opinion, but whatever.

10 threads bashing Dan and Blocknet? No problem.
1 new XC thread? Trash it.

Seriously, the moderation policies here are an insult to our collective intelligence. You are right to just let it go, it would be maddening to argue about it.

Gotta point out here that mprep did in fact trashcan Spoetniks most reasonably coherent thread ever on the evils of BlockNet. so BTT's modding isn't really all that biased against XC/BlockNet. The rules of BTT are few, but [ANN] topics go in the Announcements section.
Don't complain too much, btw, SuperNets [ANN] got kicked to Marketplace immediately, and you guys have got away with a lot of BlockNet pumping in the main alt-coins section.
849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: November 11, 2014, 12:43:30 AM
Thanks Ursay.

I think we're all just exhausted by FUD. At a certain point one reassesses one's relationship to the community and decides that being dependent on them is just too toxic.

Personally I've concluded that I'd enabled a sort of dependency relationship with the XC community that had me nannying people, which is not respectful to them, and exhausting to me.

What I hope for in the middle-term future is a more dispassionate attitude from the communities here. Some XC people are as likely to proclaim XC's wonders as they are to turn paranoid and spread FUD. It's way too fraught.

A solid community is essential for the success of any large project, particularly in crypto, and you are saying that being dependent on yours is toxic?

(just assume that I start screaming insults about your unbelievably arrogant, dictatorial and condescending attitude from here on in. Full-on Spoetnik mode engaged)

OK, you can ban me now.
850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] BLOCKNET: The Metcalf/Prom Alt-Coin Cartel Scam Exposed on: November 11, 2014, 12:12:29 AM
And....longenecker just got kicked from the BlockNet thread for daring to cast doubt on Dans decision to take over on UtilCoin:

SynEbonics: another abusive post and you're out.

Longenecker: I will now request permission to prove what I've just stated.

No-one can stop you getting out, but that wouldn't make it less based on the facts.

Arlyn, you don't need permission to defend or prove anything.  But like I said, there is no rational defense for this decision.

I don't think you're in a position to tell what the most rational decisions are here. You'd need to be on the inside for that.

But maybe I can help.
- It would be awful for the community around the coin for it to be abandoned. We get that. Projects matter in their own right. It's clearly the right thing to do to step in and save a coin.
- The Blocknet has a lot of resources. We can help in ways that aren't normally possible.

Are you f'ing shitting me?  This is your rational?  Do you have any idea how many f'ing coins get created a week?  And how many of them die?  Util is one month old and as far as I can tell, is a shitcoin that deserves to die.

The BlockNET has many resources?  Does Dan now have a tech that clones himself?  Because look at the state of his own coin, XC... its dying.  The last thing Dan should be doing is getting involved in other projects.

It's clear to me that everything Prom said in the skype logs is true.

Dan is on his payroll.  Utility was Dan's project all along.  Dan was likely the dev of HAL.  This is one big scam.

The rest of this exchange is probably being deleted as we speak, but it ends up here:
Longenecker, your posts were deleted.

Here's why:

It is incorrect to think that you have some sort of say over what we do.

You don't.

Your complaining about the decisions of a professional developer is completely inappropriate. You are *not* entitled.

We are developing XC and the Blocknet. We have the funds, the team, and the time to do so.

How we do it is up to us. You don't get a say.

Buy, sell, and converse constructively. *Do not* bitch and complain here, ever.

Longenecker was one of the more sane (and vocal) XC/BlockNet supporters, and it's kind of sad seeing how quickly the rest of the BlockNet 'community' turn on him:

851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you like another IPO? I doubt, should i launch it. on: November 10, 2014, 08:29:07 PM
Ask yourself this: does your coin/currency/asset have anything to offer, apart from making you money?

If you're just hoping that some n00bs will drop some BTC on you in exchange for a shitcoin, then you're almost in scam territory.

If, on the other hand, you have the best idea evah!, then just do a pre-ANN to see if people are genuinely interested before you start......
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nas Coin, a new paradigm for cypto on: November 10, 2014, 05:36:05 PM

853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] BLOCKNET: The Metcalf/Prom Alt-Coin Cartel Scam Exposed on: November 10, 2014, 04:51:00 PM
You can stop troll it now. They got 960+ BTC WOW  Shocked   even with all fud and doom and scam shit throw. Lets see what they do with it. If they scam it I'll be the first one bitch at it.

'If they scam it' you'll be a bit late. Ask questions first, then invest.

Although the entire BlockNet thread is partying like it's 1999, finishing the ITO is only a first step. There is a lot of work to get done before BlockNet investors will see any real income from their investment, unless the entire point of BlockNet is to cash in with a quick pump and dump.

@WayForward: sorry, bro. The whole "paid FUD campaign" is just a BlockNet meme, like fluffy dogs for Doge.
So, no, the pay sucks, sadly. And there's no dental plan....... Grin

So the mass dumpings of xc have continued, that's fantastic ...not

Is nothing going to be done about it ? have you all moved onto blocknet now ?

Starting to become pretty fucking obvious there is no point holding any alts coins unless you are part of insider trading and scams.

Fuck the new guys, fuck the little guys, fuck trying to be credible to get main stream, and people wonder why its a struggle for this shit and btc to be accepted. And here you have obvious scams like 50% insta premine dark virtually untouchable and we all know how far behind in tech it is to XC yet is surging ahead..  I know that is all hype and fanbois doing it its not like the coin is any good or innovative anymore..same fanbois from SDC joined up and look at their coins rise over the last 3-4 days I did profit off it but ffs I dont want to hold those shit coins.

/smh

Hmmm...last time I saw you, mate, you were busy defending BlockNets honour against the evil trolls.

There are good, solid longterm projects in the alt-coin space, you just have to look hard to find them. Like in anything, 90% are gonna be crap for various reasons.
Here's a clue: look for systems with strong communities that actually focus on adoption, features and development.
A coin community where the only topic of discussion is the current price and how to pump it......yeah, you know enough already.

Lets play 'spot the Dan' here:

And for the lazy among us:

Anyone want to deny that this is actually Dan M (XC/Blocknet dev) ?

857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] BLOCKNET: The Metcalf/Prom Alt-Coin Cartel Scam Exposed on: November 10, 2014, 01:11:47 AM
Right, less comedy, more questions......and a few statements:

***SNIP*****

This just proves how legit the dev is...

For real? A freaking 20-30k$ lien? Smiley))))))
What a stupid joke. That's nothing.

Btw, there was a tax lien for 2011 and 2012.
No tax lien for 2013 and 2014...what's the fuss about?

If you read carefully, the total is $67,000 and the date on the lien document is January 2014, so it may still be outstanding.

I'm not sure which world you live in, but having a fairly major tax debt doesn't make you more legitimate in regular financial circles.
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] BLOCKNET: The Metcalf/Prom Alt-Coin Cartel Scam Exposed on: November 10, 2014, 12:06:51 AM
Right, less comedy, more questions......and a few statements:

This is Dan:
https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=42275474&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=Mj7i&locale=en_US&trk=tyah&trkInfo=tarId%3A1415552014018%2Ctas%3Adan%20metcalf%2Cidx%3A1-1-1

This is ATC Solutions, Dans current biz:
http://corp.sec.state.ma.us/CorpWeb/CorpSearch/CorpSummary.aspx?FEIN=001068271&SEARCH_TYPE=4

This is Wireless Broadband Systems, INC., one of Dan's previous businesses:
http://corp.sec.state.ma.us/CorpWeb/CorpSearch/CorpSummary.aspx?FEIN=000866108&SEARCH_TYPE=4
(Note the: "Date of Involuntary Dissolution by Court Order or by the SOC:   06-18-2012". What does this actually mean?)

Everything good so far?

Then we have this tax lien document:

And the lien search result from the Commonwealth of Massachussets:
http://corp.sec.state.ma.us/CorpWeb/liens/lienssearch.aspx
(search for just ' metcalf ')
gives us this:

Happy with this lot, or is it more Photoshop work?

Now, all of this information is a matter of public record, and there is nothing here that leads me to conclude that Dan is, in fact, a bad actor.
But: it seems to be clear that there is a tax lien on his business projects, and his CV/resume seems to not tie in with some of the claims I've seen about Dan elsewhere.
This could have implications for both XC and BlockNet, especially given the way that almost all responsibility for the project appears to rest on Dans shoulders.

So, BlockNet dudes, any comments? Is this useful information for BlockNet investors?

And does anyone have a business listing available for the XC on Dans LinkedIn ?:
Quote
XC - The leading software company in decentralized applications, current products include XCurrency and XChat - XC the worlds first decentralized Infrastructure as a Service platform
You know, the XC Dan is CEO of......

859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] BLOCKNET: The Metcalf/Prom Alt-Coin Cartel Scam Exposed on: November 08, 2014, 01:11:39 PM

"Excuse"? "Caught"?

You don't get "caught" by a fact that is already known on both sides.

What you do get is frustrated beyond the ability to continue conversation with an individual as intolerably belligerent as Longandshort. And then you just get out, in desperation.

Dan's statement affirms that he was unable emotionally to deal with the persistence and brutality of the onslaught against him and simply shut it down.

After shutting it down, he then issued his statement to reconfirm the truth.

Call it "lying"? That's like an attacker calling his victim's cries of anguish "cowardly." Brute.

See, this is one of the most obvious red flags in this entire saga: the reaction of the BlockNet PR team (ie mostly synechist) to any form of criticism, and their portrayal of themselves as the victims of an orchestrated FUD campaign.
Look at the use of language: intolerably belligerent, onslaught, brutality , to describe what is, so far, fairly sane and reasonable questioning of the BlockNet project, it's communities and Dans bona fides. Shit, even Spoetnik was being very restrained.

I'm gonna give some examples of the fun-filled shit I've seen from other FUD campaigns:

Death threats, gun waving, crank telephone calls, threats of malicious prosecution, accusations of drug addiction, doxxing (including photos+addresses), accusations of mental illlness.

Has anything comparable happened to Dan ? No is the answer you're looking for, I think.

BlockNet would be a lot better of answering questions honestly, even if it does get repetititive, rather than trying to claim that they are the victims of the worlds most hardcore FUD campaign. The thing about lying about one aspect of a  project is that that it tends to bring the rest of the project into doubt.
