861  Economy / Speculation / Re: why is bitcoin price rising? on: July 25, 2017, 01:50:35 PM
I think the price is rising because the whole "bitcoin split" drama has been avoided. August 1st will NOT happen.
Yes,people have started to realize that bitcoin would not split and all the news were just FUD spread by big whales in order to buy cheap bitcoins.Thats why, more people have started to buy bitcoins since they have started to feel that this might be the last chance to buy bitcoins below $3000.

It's more probable that the idea of having BTCC is bringing in more demand, hence the rise.

Any insider news on where Kyrie is heading?
863  Economy / Speculation / Re: Announcements of Exchanges regarding giving bitcoin holders 'their BitcoinCash' on: July 24, 2017, 12:11:00 PM

This was probably not best way ever, but i asked bitstamp support being logged in:

---
are these true:

1. On 1. August this could happen:
Next to bitcoin an altcoin 'bitcoin cash' is generated.

2. Everybody who owns bitcoin then will also own the same amount of 'bitcoin cash'

3. If you have bitcoin lieing on bitstamp, then bitstamp does not give you 'your' 'bitcoin cash coins' but keeps it for themselves

Thanks!
---

And i got:
---
Dear

thank you for your request.

Unfortunately I am unable to advise you on the matter. I kindly ask you to keep an eye out for any official statement from our side on the topic of your inquiry.

Should you have other questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards,
---

So, i guess that is a 'we will keep it'

Well obviously the support guy won't be able to give you an answer. Else he can be sued.  Smiley

Nothing to do now but wait.
864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Crossed $2,829 on: July 23, 2017, 02:56:40 AM
Seems to me the notion of btcc is getting people to buy and hoard.
865  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gyft gift cards - Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! on: July 22, 2017, 02:14:42 PM
I'm guessing what happened was something like this:

They said send 0.01 btc and you went to your wallet and entered 0.01 btc and then your wallet subtracted the miner's fee and they only got 0.00999 btc... Am I right?

Gyft use BitPay as their payment processor... you need to make sure that the amount they receive is the amount invoiced. A lot of (crap) wallets will actually subtract the miner's fee from the sent amount, rather than adding the fee to the sent amount. The result being that the recipient doesn't get the full amount.

If this is what your wallet is doing... Get a better wallet. What wallet did you send from?

As for the refund, obviously they'll need to pay a miner's fee to get your Bitcoins back to you... Apparently, they're using high fees to ensure fast confirmation times. No doubt if they used lower fees, everyone would moan that the refunds got "stuck"

Looks pretty reasonable if that was the case. Actually I've tried them once and the process was smooth. This was a few years back though.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in a coin before a large split to increase ones earnings. on: July 22, 2017, 01:54:39 PM
Well, technically, there will be no split in Bitcoin. That's why the price surged around 600 USD to 2700 USD. What concerns me, is that ETH or other cryptos are not following the upside movement that much as BTC. The BTC has the momentum right now, I would say...

I am not discussing the segwit2x or 148 splits which I don't think will occur either, but the altcoin spinoff supported by those 3 companies here - https://www.bitcoincash.org/

looks like a lot of work for Bitmain to hire those devs and promote it for a bluff thus looks likely to occur.

I dont think this will have much an effect on the price of BTC, but it is an opportunity to get some free BCC for every BTC you own before aug 1st like clams.

Which is probably one reason we can attribute to the latest upward spike in price this last few days, people are stacking up.
867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016/17 NBA Season on: July 22, 2017, 11:39:20 AM
So that is now official that Kyrie can't really take it to play with Lebron anymore.

BREAKING NEWS:

Kyrie Irving Requesting Trade From Cleveland Cavaliers

I verified first the story and I found it legit. To the link I provided, Im just disagree to the last part "Is this the end of LeBron James’ era?" LOL. Cavaliers with Kyrie when Lebron is not yet returning to The Land never entered the playoffs for 3 season and his first playoff experience just started when Big 3 of Cavaliers was formed.

Just amazed that even he already experienced championship, still he will give up his max contract in Cleveland worth lots of $$$$$$ in 2019.

Kyrie's now moving to SAS I don't know if that is official as I've seen it to basketball pages on facebook. Good luck to the Cavs now, they need to replace Kyrie's power.

its a big challenge to lebron. I think lebron will not agree with it. Its his big challenge without kyrie. But if their team will trade player they have to make sure that that player will have kyrie's skills or better than kyrie but kyrie's skills will always be unique.

So I was a bit late about this news and Kyrie is finally moving to a new team but there is still no official announcement if that is going to be at SAS. Cavs is still strong guys, it's a trade and Cavs will not let their guard down and reduce their strength. They've got Paul George right in trade for Kyrie? Hope that Love will remain.

So what, it's gonna be a GSW dynasty? Seems to me Kyrie doesn't want to be the 2nd man anymore. A big blow to the Cavs.
868  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fasten your seatbelts: Bitcoin volatility in for a wild ride on: July 22, 2017, 11:36:24 AM

don't let your emotion take control even if you see Bitcoin prices goes down under 2000$ again, keep holding and stay strong

It has been like this for what, at least the majority during the last 4 years. At this point, you should already know how to take advantage of the movements.
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is instant way to get rich ? on: July 19, 2017, 01:20:34 PM
To be fair, BTCBTCBTC was never meant as a product to get rich. It was made primarily to facilitate transfer of value, and not as a tool to get more. Being a store of value is very different from becoming an investment if you'd ask me.
870  Economy / Speculation / Re: Finally, Bitcoin is Bouncing Back! on: July 19, 2017, 10:40:34 AM
Bitcoin bouncing back up does not guarantee us at all that it is the end of crashing. Let us take note that we haven't went through the August 1st yet. There are several days left and we might encounter tremendous volatility as we go closer to the date. And as to what you've said, we better be cautious and aware of what might happen in the near future. It is best to be safe than sorry, right?

'don't count your chicks before they get laid'

Not so sure it goes that way but anyway, It's now a good time to go short trades.
871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016/17 NBA Season on: July 19, 2017, 10:31:48 AM
Looks like the Knicks aren't giving up on Melo, at least for this season. Would love to see him play on HOU though.
872  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin go under 2000 dollars until august 1? on: July 16, 2017, 01:08:09 PM
It'll get even cheaper in a few more days, as we go nearer Aug 1.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TEZOS raised 231 Million on: July 16, 2017, 01:05:16 PM
One thing I know to be true, people don't even know what they are investing in anymore...

Always has, always will. The mere idea of future profits is what gets them going, even if they don't know how it'll profit.
874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016/17 NBA Season on: July 16, 2017, 12:41:46 PM
Jamal Crawford about joining the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has mentioned that its not about winning championships anymore. In which he could have easily pick the contract agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also said that he wants to play with a team who he think he can make the best contribution anong all teams who recruited him he has chosen a team that has a chance to become winners because of him contributing.

What a guy. He's someone today's superstars need to look up to.

He is indeed a Role Player and I think even though he doesnt want to chase for a championship. Timberwolves, has already acquires good players which are definitely a contender. I still hope he win at least one championship before he retire.

At this point, I think he won't. Honestly, with regards to the Timberwolves, it's like Thibodeau's Bulls all over again, with younger, more athletic pieces.
875  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prices rise high on: July 16, 2017, 08:51:17 AM
Bitcoin is slowly falling right now, people now are selling on panic, but i think its normal in any markets. As you can see with a long term chart of bitcoin its really bullish and i think the price will continue to soar high right after the reversal.

What goes up must go down. True for any case, even in other markets. Nothing to be wary of.
876  Economy / Speculation / Re: Brave Buyers Can Start Buying... on: July 16, 2017, 08:49:21 AM
...

As long as they understand the risks of "them" screwing up BTC.  And they could.  Developers.  Miners.

But, I have to think that there is SO MUCH MONEY among BTC Ecosystem stakeholders, that some kind of decent agreement (and decently implemented) will happen by August 1 (or pretty close).

BTC price swoons happen all the time, it's "normal", at least it has been.  If you have the money that you can afford to lose, NOW might be a good time to start buying.  I hope to as well in a week or so (we're on vacation in the sticks of a foreign country right now).  If all goes well, I see a possible $5000 in due course (several months to a year or so as confidence builds).

The 'if all goes well' tag is pretty bold. We all know it isn't gonna be a smooth ride going up from here.
877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016/17 NBA Season on: July 16, 2017, 08:43:51 AM
Carmelo is bad for me because it was the New York star, but there is a star in Houston. I think the room is harder and I think there will be some kind of extinction.

Thinking that Houston has a powerhouse but for me this isn't a good move for the Rockets. Paul + Harden is already a good and both key players but adding Carmelo, I don't know if these three has the chemistry. But once they started to build their playing relationship good and this trio is going to be an headache for the tier teams.

If he's gonna accept the switch to HOU, he's gonna have to accept big role changes. Look at what it did to K. Love when he went to Cleveland.

879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MAJOR WARNING - ALL COINS on: July 15, 2017, 11:30:39 AM
So the moment people realize that dollar bills are actually just a specially designed paper, and nothing more than that. And they can create their own specially designed paper too, will be worth 0, NADA of course... hence dollar bills will also be worth 0. So people stop using dollar bills and go back to the barter system.
That's your logic?

Well valuation does depend on how you perceive something, so the logic is true. The thing is, it will never come to that. BTCBTCBTC has always been associated with money and will always be associated with money.

Just a word of advice, try to trade other alts first so you'd get a grip on how it works, that is, if you're not planning of buying and holding alts for the long term.

Besides looking at the cap, take a look at the alt's activity in the alts section here. It's a good parameter to check too.
