1821  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto Exchange ShapeShift Hacked, Unspecified Amount of Bitcoin Lost on: April 09, 2016, 09:08:45 AM
It's interesting that this is still happening - I would've thought exchanges were getting more and more secure - yet the hackers are one step ahead of them. Perhaps there is room for a bitcoin security consultant firm to do business advising the exchanges how to stay safe.
And then there's the school of thought that these hackers don't even exist.  That the hacksening is an inside job--Gox, Cryptsy, all of those.  Interesting, and I'll definitely be following this.

It doesn't add up much for ShapeShift, as far as I know they don't store customer funds in there. No sense in trying to steal your own funds.
1822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: fivver marketplace accepts bitcoin! on: April 09, 2016, 09:04:34 AM
I assume they don't pay out in BTC? That would be a lot more interesting to plenty of people.

Nope, they only payout via Paypal or thru their Payoneer card. Plus they use bitpay as far as I know for purchases. So they don't hold btc on their own.
1823  Other / Off-topic / Re: How kids can "earn" Bitcoin ? on: April 09, 2016, 03:53:18 AM
Introduce him to coding. Give him some experience with IT before he hits high school, and he can do some easy jobs. I'm a minor, and have to say that my Python experience has made me a hefty sum.

I suppose they'll get bored with that. You know kids these days, very short attention span.

Hey Sampey,

Can you tell me the best parameters for PING PONG with a market like ETH/BTC on POLO?

Thanks,

MasterTrader777

Hum well.....best parameters it's no possible without analyze the last days market range, but actually price seems stable, so you can try to consider the current price 0.0253 as a MEDIAN Value and try to set PING BUY at 0.0253 - 5% and PONG SELL at 0.0253 + 5% and try to move inside this range.

How do I set the dynamic PING to buy at current price -5%? I can't seem to find an option for that, like every time my dynamic PINGs are at buying around the top of the orders.

That would be awesome so my buys would only be during downward spikes.
1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is dead again. This time for sure. on: April 08, 2016, 02:16:40 PM
People that actually believe this sort of FUD clearly never step into the bitcoin dev irc chats.

Care to share what's going on over there? Just for curiosity's sake.
1826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Bitcoin go the Second Life Way? on: April 08, 2016, 03:49:44 AM
I remember Second life and how it was so innovative for it's time but it did get boring after a while.
Even it's currency system was lack luster. Linden Dollars weren't really worth much but people found a way to convert them into bitcoin  Cheesy

Yes because the development of Second life also stagnated, bitcoin and the blockchain on the other hand still has a lot in of developments going on.

I am planing to put some money in hashnest cloudmining site. peoples giving positive feedback about it.
personally I don't believe in cloudmining sites. because most of them went ponzi. but something doing is better then nothing.
what you think guys. how much should I invest first?

The thing is mining in general is in a downtrend. Difficulty is rising sky-high. Trust me, it's not profitable in the long-term.
1828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to teach someone about Bitcoin on: April 07, 2016, 11:35:44 AM
You don't need to teach anyone about bitcoins, just give them some bitcoins and they will learn. At least that's how I learned about BTC Smiley

Well in a bunch of cases this isn't true, besides if you're just giving a couple of satoshis I don't think they'd be interested.
1829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney) on: April 07, 2016, 11:33:03 AM
Good luck fighting the ALS man, you'll need it.

Don't give up hope and stay fighting.

We should really lock this thread...he passed away in 2014...RIP Hal...

Let this thread get continued, Though he has passed his thoughts need to be known by every users who wish to be a part of bitcoin.

True, like the famous bitcoin-pizza thread, this should be kept alive.
1830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar Opened , your first impressions ? on: April 07, 2016, 07:51:11 AM
The thing is I still can't get it to work, as far as I'm concerned. I'm trying to look for my store using another PC, and yes it's seeding from my laptop and I can't seem to find it. IMO it still has a lot to improve on.
1831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we stop the division in the Bitcoin community? on: April 06, 2016, 11:09:22 AM
It's fully normal that, when people think that the persons that rule something does not act in their interest anymore, they start to act in a way that supports their interest.

I'm not sure if classic can do that though. But it is a legit thing to disagree and do your own thing.

Besidest that, I think you misunderstand "divide et imperia". It means let two different groups fight each other and then win as the third party. Common thing the US is doing before they invade countries.

In bitcoin I don't see the third party and it's not like a third party could overwhelm all bitcoiners somehow.

That is, for now. Whe'd never know wen that third party would come and take over, or in what form. It may not be a person or even an organization, as it can be as simple as an idea.

I get what OP wants to say. This division isn't helping at all, but you see, this is the way to achieve a consensus. The US went first to a civil war before emerging as a global power. Maybe after this we'd be in the right path.

Hi, I can't find an option to create a PONG order with a set reference price, for orders I'd like to manually do. My workaround is to set a static PING order and check the not create a PONG order with that market, but it also affects other orders. I only want that 1 trade. How do I do that?

There's no way to create a PONG Order.
PONG Order is the result of a TRADE Occurs over a PING.
Why do you need to create a PONG?
If you want to do that, you can open the market twice :
- On Market Tab 1 you will create a PING STATIC (if you want you can decheck the option Always create pong order) order with % GAIN LIke 999% -> Result will be that if a trade occurs no PONG will be created.
- On Market Tab 2 you will run a classic ping-pong algo.

I'm doing that for some trades that I did before buying the CAT, since it should be already in the PONG. I'm doing the static thing, but I didn't know I can open a market tab twice. Thanks for the heads up.

lucky hash is at 1500 tickets now. their  desperate to unload  gear.  they know something.  either  they want to unload all before halving or they got new gear coming   or  the diff is going to ramp up .

For sure there is something there they know

Why give it away as lottery, they could just drop the price really low for people to get in. Oversupply, maybe?

Someone gave the account a positive trust with 21,000,000 risked BTC amount. Funny.

@op Since we really don't have an official anniversary day for BTCBTCBTC why not use this?
1837  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: April 06, 2016, 01:17:40 AM
San Antonio has three-game road trip against Utah, Golden State, and Denver. This is the first game and their only injured player is Boris Diaw.
Utah has no injured players. They need to win to make playoffs. Previous regular season games San Antonio won all 3 matches.

The thing is coach Pop has hinted that he might not use their starters for some of that games, in preparation for the playoffs. That's why it'll be hard to predict a win for them at this point.
1838  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Art of Trading BTC to ALT Coins-Share your Experience for Noob on: April 06, 2016, 12:56:48 AM
Currently venturing into trading nowadays, also using CAT. I profited 0.04 on the AMP surge the other day using only 0.01BTC initial buy, plus additional 0.03 gains on trading other coins. However, if you'd look at BittrEX today, most of the coins with volume are bleeding red. In the end I lost about 0.05, so just a little profit but yes, a lot has been learned.
1839  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which Exchange are you planning to use for the halving run up on: April 05, 2016, 05:27:22 PM
Currently trying to learn a lot about trading at TheRock. I'll be moving to BitFinex soon enough hopefully right before the pumps.
