ESPN has said they are predicting the Milwaukee Bucks to win 48.5 games next year. What do people think about that? Personally, I think they win at least 50 games next year and maybe even 60. Lillard is a beast to have on your team alongside Giannis. While it may not be as good as the Curry/Giannis duo we all want to see, it is the next best thing.

That's some serious hype going on. I mean, Lillard just joined the team, so it's a bit premature to expect them to dominate right out of the gate. We're still in the 'let's-see-how-their-chemistry-works' phase. Even though they're both superstars, there's no guarantee they'll click seamlessly.

If the public's buying into that and there are betting odds for it, I'd say that's a potential trap waiting to happen.

I think 48 wins is very doable provided the team won't suffer injuries from their starting line-up. 48 wins is a 59% win rate so it's like winning 6 out of 10. Giannis, Middleton, Lopez, and Lillard aren't known ball hogs or have big egos so I am confident that they can work together in building their chemistry well. And there's also the new ruling about player management so we're expecting these players to be present in most of their games.

I haven't seen the odds of this over 48.5 wins. But if this is 1.80 or above then I am taking this risk.
862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: October 08, 2023, 05:24:08 AM

Going back to the Tapales, the only thing I heard is that he should used his awkwardness if there is as such tactic in boxing. And be somewhat unpredictable so that Inoue will somewhat be confused. But I don't see it enough to upset the monster. Unless Tapales landed a perfect punch and then Inoue can't recover from it. The only one that can beat Inoue here is himself, if he slacks on training and underestimated Tapales.

I don't really think Tapales is capable of beating Inoue even to survive up to the last round is a miracle for him because he is too slow for Inoue and he will take those power punches as if he is a punching bag. looks like he will be just like Charlo when he fights Canelo, he will just try to survive unless he has the power to shake Inoue but in reality, he does not and it might be just an easy win for Inoue, easier when he beats Fulton. If only Casimero holding those belts, it would be a fight of the year when they finally meet against each other inside the ring.

I really hope that Tapales has the power to earn Inoue's respect. Or maybe it is better if Inoue won't respect his power so we will see how it goes if Tapales lands his strongest hooks. I think Tapales has the power to shake Inoue if the Japanese underestimate his power and focus on getting the knockout.

We can only hope about Casimero being the champion but it is a reality that he himself caused losing his belt which also meant losing the chance to unify with Inoue at 118. Now he is also at 122 but so far he is fighting nobodies. Next year Casimero should get his title shot otherwise Inoue might also move up to 126.

Speaking of power, I think he's got it, considering he's KO'd 19 of his opponents in his last 37 fights. Maybe he's not as strong a puncher as Inoue, but boxers tend to improve as they learn and train harder, especially when facing a popular champion.

Honestly, I haven't seen a Filipino boxer who's really gone toe to toe with Inoue, except for Donaire. So, I'm hoping this fight is going to be an entertaining one. Tapales doesn't necessarily have to win if he can't, but he shouldn't just fight to survive.

It'll be interesting how Tapales will approach Inoue once they are in the ring but I am optimistic that he comes there to win and not just to survive. Inoue also doesn't like going toe to toe so it is either he becomes the aggressor or he will use the ring and his speed to attack or make counter-attacks. If Tapales becomes the aggressor like Donaire then the better since there is a lesser chance to win once Inoue is the one moving forward.

Tapales has decent power, so if he can hit Inoue flash on the mouth, maybe he will feel the power and respect Marlon in their fight. I'm watching some highlights of Tapales fight and he really seems to be a thinking fighter. I mean he will read his opponent before making an attack and doesn't over commit, let's say like Manny when he throws his left, most of the time he will lunge making a huge opening for his opponent to counter. But not Marlon Tapales, maybe his ring IQ is underrated for know but we will obviously see it against the Monster. Yes, we know that Tapales chances are very slim to almost none against Inoue, but that's what they said on him against Akhmadaliev. Although I'm seeing that Inoue will work on Marlon's body, to try and slow him down or maybe even score a body blow.

Tapales is really an understated fighter. He is smart and has some tricks of his own. He is a 2 division world champion for a reason. So he is experienced when it comes to world-class opposition. Tapales' power is also underrated and misleading since he is actually 11-1-10 KOs in his last 12 fights. Inoue though is a great fighter with a great team behind him so they knew already and are not taking Tapales lately as most fans do.

Meanwhile, Steve Kim talked to Bob Arum and it's said that the fight is looking forward this December 26 in Japan once again. So it seems like American money is once again beaten by the Japanese sponsors in trying to bring this undisputed fight to Inoue's home. But at least things are clearer now that this fight will happen. But it's not too late yet for ESPN and its partners to bid more money in order to bring this fight to America.
863  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture vs oil on: October 07, 2023, 02:15:44 PM
Both are very important and necessary but oil is more scarce which is why it is given more attention than agriculture in some countries. The superpowers meanwhile are balancing both. Russia and the US have enough oil while at the same time having stable agriculture. China on the other hand keeps on exploring its vast land for more oil for sustainability but its agriculture is also doing fine.

Countries with vast oil reserves are getting rich but they are also trying too hard to build their agriculture even if most of their lands are sandy. Egypt and Qatar for example with the help of technology have billions of dollars in projects that are aimed at improving their agriculture.

         -  Here in our country, I observe some senior individuals who continue to gamble, but they mostly play bingo and the lotto. However,
I have not observed any elders or elderly individuals playing internet games. Online gambling is a popular pastime.

They play the ones I mentioned the most since they don't have to think as much as other casino games. Of course, I won't want to gamble again till I'm old; it's good to gamble once in a while, and I'm the only one who knows no one else. To be honest, it's more acceptable to me.

Maybe it is hard to see elderly people gambling online because this trend started in our generation and not them. Although there might be some elderly people who gamble online, it is just that we cannot see them since they play at home or in private. Bingo and lotteries are indeed very popular with the elderly. But when I visited land-based casinos, it was also common to see elderly people playing different games, especially in the slot machines.

Once our generation gets old I am pretty sure a lot of our gamblers will continue to do their thing online.

Regarding Joel intentions of joining the US team, here is what Rudy Gobert has to say,

Quote
"I am happy for him. I guess we'll see him in Paris. I am happy for him, as long as he does what makes him happy and he follows his heart. That's what matters."

https://twitter.com/FadeawayWorld/status/1710037148408111522

And then the captain of the French Basketball team, Nic Batum,

Quote
“I was more than happy to welcome him to the team, and he took the best decision for him,” Batum said. “I would have taken the same one.”

https://twitter.com/AndrewGreif/status/1710068649514369079

So I guess everyone in the French team is not affected by Joel joining the US instead of them. Nevertheless, for sure this is going to be a very competitive Olympics in Paris as far as for the US and the rest of the world.

Embiid's mentality is probably to have the best way to secure the gold. That is probably the best chance he gets a championship. But hopefully, he won't cry if the US will lose. Since I was a kid and started watching Olympics basketball, I cannot remember Team USA failing to bag the championships, they always dominate. But the Paris Olympics basketball is indeed going to be very competitive as the biggest stars will be joining their respective countries. Jokic, Giannis, and Wemby are also expected to play.

Although there are only two countries where basketball is the #1 sport, it continues to grow and there are more superstars that come outside the US.
866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 07, 2023, 12:23:10 PM
I believe announcing the Fury-Usyk fight in Saudi adds more hype to this fight. If they want more hype, Bob Arum should've tried to put a Mexican or a Latino in the undercard to cater to their huge boxing community.

The Saudis don't have much experience in promoting major boxing events. They are more familiar with entertainment. This fight is being marketed more for a casual audience than die hard boxing fans. That's why they made it part of the Riyadh Season festival. The card might not be the most appealing but people will still watch it for the same reasons they watch Jake Paul fights.

Yes, and that's why promoters like Bob Arum's Top Rank and Eddie Hearn's Match Room are in the desert promoting those events in Middle East or specifically Saudi Arabia. Because there's a lot of money out there obviously and saw this boxing promoters have somewhat 'exploited' the riches of that country.

So still a win win for us boxing fans, regardless for the Saudi's that this is just entertainment for them because they have a lot of money to burn and just why not boxing for their population?

Bob Arum and Frank Warren are the ones handling this event but it seems like the Saudis are the ones demanding a set of explosive undercards. After the AJ-Ruiz II, Usyk-AJ II, and Fury-Paul went into the distance without knockdowns, the Saudis and the tourists are now treated with knockout artists fighting in the undercards. With the amount of money the Saudis are spending, they could've gotten more exciting fighters like a world title fight in the undercard or some top 10 fighters facing each other. But as @FinneysTrueVision mentioned, this event is more focused on the casuals as its targeted market.

Looks like Puppey playing for Team SMG is for real. On gorgc's stream, it's seen that both MidOne and Puppey are in a private lobby. Not enough evidence but it's likely that they really are playing and practicing at this time. Maybe within the next few days we'll see them announce it officially. But it got me confused because Jaunuel's visa is approved as per his facebook post.
We've got a few days left until the start of the TI and talking about the prize pool, I bet that this isn't encouraging a lot of them but it's gonna be just their glory playing for it. Anyway, prize is still prize and that's money regardless of how low or high it is.

There are a lot of rumors circulating already that Puppey is the one playing at TI. But since Jaunuel got his visa approved then Team SMG goes to TI with him. There are still 5 days left before the TI and that is most likely enough to travel to Seattle.
Maybe that lobby was just a practice game or scrim with Team SMG and Team Secret. Jau's able to attend it and that feels good since he's the one with them since the qualifiers, I just don't know if it's the same with masaros.

Or it could be a real practice since Jaunuel got his visa approved in the 11th minute already. Sadly, Masaros is already out mate as confirmed by Team SMG. Mind_Control is the one to substitute for him. Not a bad substitution but pretty sure it has an effect when it comes to their plays and chemistry. But who knows, it'll be cool if SEA shows something this TI.

There's really a huge difference in the prize pool compared to last year. It's a huge drop and I am pretty sure it will also lose interest among fans around the world. DOTA 2 is no longer the same. And I won't be surprised that even sponsors might also start moving away. Valve has to do something in this coming TI since the viewerships will determine its future.
Valve should just add more money on it. Remember that they've already done $1.6M+ as starter for this and it's still under $3M. They really done it wrong when it's too late for them to release items and they're not interesting anymore. The prince of Saudi did bought this time but not that much too.
I haven't followed this stuff since I stopped playing. But I did hear a lot of clamors for Valve's failure to deliver it the way fans were expecting.

It looks like the Philadelphia 76ers have finally caved to Harden’s pressure and will be shipping him to the Clippers. The Clippers are said to be doing everything in their power to make it happen. After all the offseason drama it seems like Harden is going to end up getting what he wants, while Dame didn’t get the trade he wanted, but might get himself a ring.
I'm getting a bit skeptical about what I read online these days. Just two days ago, NBC News posted an article saying the Clippers aren't really focused on Harden and aren't making a good enough offer for the trade.

Do you have any up-to-date news to share? It seems like you were pretty confident that Harden was headed to the Clippers.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/clippers-not-focused-on-harden-also-not-offering-enough-to-get-trade-done

Harden already joined the training camp of the 76ers so he is expected to play.  I don't know what's in the head of the Clippers' management right now. It has 2 unhealthy star players. They're wasting many seasons expecting Kawhi to be fully healthy for a whole season or playoffs period but it never happened. So it would be hard to imagine the management of the Clippers to make a full swing taking Harden while giving up a lot of future draft picks. Kawhi and even PG13 if being traded aren't that good in the market either so the Clippers may not want to sacrifice their future first-round picks.

But in order for Harden and the 76ers to have peace before the start of this season, it would be nice to do a trade with or without the Clippers.
870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 06, 2023, 06:28:07 PM
Ngannou is an easy fight. Earlier it was said that Ngannou would have a tune-up in boxing but it didn't happen. Probably because he might lose or he may look bad it could damage his market. I doubt he can beat any of the top 50 in the heavyweights. All they do is stay away from him in the early rounds and jab him to death. Ngannou is not young, he is inactive, and those heavy arms will tire him after 3 or 4 rounds.

I believe announcing the Fury-Usyk fight in Saudi adds more hype to this fight. If they want more hype, Bob Arum should've tried to put a Mexican or a Latino in the undercard to cater to their huge boxing community.

There does not seem to be hype surrounding the fight as it should have been. Is it because Wilder was a bigger proposition that people could not stop talking about the trilogy for a long time? Or is it because Ngannou is deemed to be an easy fight because he is not really a professional boxer. If they added bigger names to the undercard, would the hype have been bigger.

This fight does not seem to have the same feel as Fury fighting Wilder (or a potential future bout with Usyk). At the beginning of the announcement of the Ngannou fight there was interest across the media but that subsided.

The undercard is actually pretty good. Much better than most and the all heavyweight card adds a little extra meat to it.

I used to supply tuna and then registered a construction materials business but they all failed during the pandemic. For now, I am trying to save while observing and planning on what's next since there is a lot of stuff that I would like to do. Most of my regular savings if not all I invested in crypto which is mostly bitcoin and ethereum.

So I am looking forward to venturing into another business but possibly after the 2025 bull run. What's in my head right now is to create a stall for grilled chicken business. The estimated capital should be around $6k.

For as long as I continue to watch and follow my favorite sports, athletes, and players then I will also continue to gamble regularly. Unless I am suffering from a massive financial problem which I hope won't happen. Or maybe my betting activities seldom happen because I become very busy with some other stuff that I also love doing.

So generally the plan is to continue having small regular bets. Stay in this forum, have fun, and join tournaments or maybe make tournaments again if I have the luxury of time.
874  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 05, 2023, 05:05:33 PM
the only thing that I think majority are not thinking when they are planning for early retirement is that they can get really bored if they don't have any meaningful things to build after they retire. maybe like business based on hobby or something. if its just retiring and you're doing nothing i'm sure 100% after 3 years you would be really bored, i've been reading about many younger generation planning fully retire in 30s.
while that's nothing wrong and if someone is really capable of earning money enough for fully retiring in 30s then i think they deserve it but they should have something they passionate about that they really want to do after retiring. that way they will still have income and also not getting bored while also being productive.

This would be the perfect plan after retiring. It's not like we retire from our regular job and just do nothing. Plus the monthly pension only happens once we are in our 60s which is a long time. We might still need to do something or invest for us to earn regular income. Having an apartment or building could be great since it can provide steady income while doing nothing but the cost might be too expensive and unaffordable to most people retiring in their 30s. Having a business coming from our passion even if it takes a lot of our time would be cool.

So finally the official NBA season starts. We are still in preseason though. Abu Dhabi, UAE is hosting the Mavericks and the Timberwolves. Very good team effort by the Wolves as they are leading double digits against the tandem of Luka and Kyrie. Edwards is still missing in action while Luka seems to be the only one scoring in his team with drama queen Kyrie still with zero points.

By the way, while the regular season is yet to start, is there anybody here playing NBA Fantasy on ESPN or Yahoo? I want to join a league but it should be serious to make it challenging and worth the time. Grin
876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Stevenson vs De Los Santos - Nov 16 on: October 05, 2023, 04:21:11 PM
Shakur will fight smart in the early rounds until he measures his distance and reach. De Los Santos who is not used to fighting long rounds will tire out and gets stopped.

It should be the right thing to do because he can't relax against a knockout artist. As usual, it's expected that he will use his quickness to tire De Los Santos. Eventually, De Los Santos will be frustrated if he cannot land clean shots on Shakur.

Most KO artists rely so much on their power, but when they face a boxer who knows how to use their quickness and has a high IQ in the ring, they struggle, just like Mayweather did against his opponents. Since Shakur is a big fan of Mayweather, we will likely see a fight that focuses more on technical movements rather than being a brawl.

Also, it seems like Shakur's chin is not weak. But we'll see if this division's power punchers can finally shake Shakur. I didn't know Shakur idolized Floyd but it's possible since they are both technical fighters. One thing is sure, Shakur hurt Floyd's feelings after personally attending the Olympics. Floyd was there to support him and at the same time trying to personally convince him to sign with Mayweather Promotions but the kid went with Top Rank. Cheesy

Finally, Shakur is getting his shot to become a 3-division world champion. It would've been better if he is facing Martin. But it is what it is. Edwin De Los Santos is next in the WBC ranking. We'll see if Shakur can take power punches in this new division.

This might be too early for De Los Santos' career. He is already used to fighting against fellow prospects but never this level of opposition. Shakur will fight smart in the early rounds until he measures his distance and reach. De Los Santos who is not used to fighting long rounds will tire out and gets stopped.

^ So you think Shakur is going to win the fight? I am not trying to say this in any kind of patronizing way. I am just honestly asking. Because I actually thought that his opponent De Los Santos had a chance to win this fight. I know Shakur is actually the better fighter going into this fight. I am not going to debate with anyone about that. Because that is definitely the truth. But at the same time, I do not think that this fight is going to be one-sided or anything like that. Because I think in this fight, de Los Santos is actually going to try to conserve his energy and only go aggressive when he surely has a chance of landing clean shots.

I understand your point, but you have to look not on Shakur but his opponents. Have you heard of De Los Santos name though before this fight? I will honestly say that I never heard his name prior to this fight. And although he has a good record and we can't take that away from him. But as we have said, Shakur talent is above the rest of this division, he is not a champion yet, but it seems that the division has been shaken when Shakur goes up in weight class. Devin Haney became a champion in recess? LOL, goes up at 140 lbs and avoid Stevenson at all cost. And then supposedly Frank Martin, the next hype at this weight class suddenly back up on his words and doesn't want any of Shakur. And the other champion in WBA in Gervonta Davis, is quiet, we don't even hear Davis talking about Shakur to be his next opponent, or even mentioning Stevenson's name in his interviews.

And let's not forget when Kambosos and Lomachenko also said no to Shakur. Although I can understand Loma's point. The guy is likely to retire anytime soon and his dream of becoming undisputed is near to becoming impossible since Haney is expected to vacate all 4 belts which also means he needs to fight the champions 1 by 1 and consider the struggle to negotiate fighters that are signed outside of ESPN. A rematch is also unlikely after Haney barely escaped after getting saved by the judges. So he might as well just take the biggest money fight available before retiring.

I think anyone can answer this, and the majority would agree that Stevenson will win. Of course, every opponent of Shakur has a good game plan until they taste Stevenson's punches and get tired chasing him. Even bookies would agree; as of now, the current betting odds suggest that Stevenson will win with an 80% to 90% probability.

https://www.oddschecker.com/us/boxing-mma/boxing/shakur-stevenson-v-edwin-de-los-santos

Shakur Stevenson -800
Edwin De Los Santos +475

True. And betting odds aren't the same with celebrities and the media that can talk and analyze but without something at risk. And also it is very hard to stop being an aggressor against Shakur in order to conserve energy. De Los Santos has to train hard and be ready to be the aggressor for the whole 12 rounds. You don't wait because Shakur is too smart for that. And you don't let Shakur become the hunter because of his quick hand speed and footwork. Shakur will win by KO/TKO if De Los Santos allows Shakur to become the aggressor. De Los Santos has to show Shakur that he is there to knock him out from round 1 to 12. He needs to make Shakur retreat and mentally impose that he is the aggressor because he carries the harder punch.
877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte (December 2) on: October 05, 2023, 03:17:20 PM
So I kind of agree with the odds although I was also expecting something like 1.22 for Kingry earlier.

Most likely, the odds will be like that, probably not higher than 1.30.

Ryan Garcia is trying to redeem himself after a devastating loss to Tank. With a decent opponent, I'm sure he will be tested to see if he is really back in boxing. He isn't undefeated anymore, but his one loss could be the best learning experience for him. Who knows, he might have a rematch with Tank Davis in the future. For now, he has to focus on coming back strong.

Yeah, most likely the odds will be higher as Ryan Garcia is facing a unknown caliber fighter. And so with others who is just making a comeback after a devastating lost, they will get a fighter that might have a good in paper but for sure this is a careful match making on the side of Golden Boy. And most likely everything is back to normal with Ryan and Oscar as they will have to promote this fight again.

Ryan needs to win this one and forget how his lost to Tank Davis is. Because if he keeps on thinking about that fight then he can't go and move on his career. And we shouldn't be surprised that this is 140 lbs as this could be the weight class that Ryan could be comfortable as he doesn't need to weight drain himself.

Ryan's life is already assured if his finances are being managed well plus he is also a social media influencer which also helps him earn a lot regularly. So he should stay focused on his boxing career and try his best to become a world champion. Once he becomes a champion then that is the time he can consider challenging Tank again for a rematch at 140.

Ryan's opponent though cannot be underestimated. He is moving up in weight for this fight but he is a good fighter and just like Ryan, he is also a prospect. And I won't be surprised that Oscar De La Hoya wants Ryan to lose since the kid is expected not to renew his contract soon.

Yes, I think the Warriors can adjust without Draymond in the early part of the next season, they have recently acquired Dario Saric. So this is a big test for him to somewhat be in the position that Draymond used.

As for Kuminga, him and Andrew Wiggins should take part of the PF to SF position. Either can have a night wherein they are going to be the biggest contributor in Warriors offense. And Kuminga is very athletic indeed that's why the Warriors chooses to still be in team as he can improved a lot and not just like Poole who complains a lot and seems the be the fame gets into his head last season.

Draymond Green improves ball movement on the court, so not having him early in the season might not give them a good start as expected. The good news is that they have CP3, who is known for his playmaking; he can certainly fill the loss of Draymond. With new players who have helped improve their interior defense, I think the Warriors will be okay.

The Warriors have a deep experience including chemistry and CP3 is a good playmaker so they should be fine offensively. Defensively they might really struggle but Kerr can change the line-up including its starting 5 so I guess they'll do well. Even Kerr is confident Thompson can defend up to the PF position. Unless its star players aren't performing well, especially the aging CP3 then.

The new season is nearing its start. It will be interesting how the teams with major changes like Boston and Milwaukee fare. Boston acquiring Jrue was a great move IMO.

The complete name is Oscar Duarte Jurado. I think it's Jurado and not Duarte that's his family name.

Regardless of the names though, here is the boxrec: https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/671857

I like the new opponent of Ryan Garcia. Even though he is not really one of the stars at 140, he has a good record. Garcia is definitely his biggest fight but it looks like he's well prepared for it. He has been doing good in his professional career. His only loss was even just a split decision. It could be given to him. So he's almost undefeated.

But I'm surprised when I checked the early odds at oddschecker. Garcia is 1.17 favorite and Jurado is 5.0 underdog. I might risk my money with Jurado.

Goodluck with your bet mate, I mean he is unknown boxer at 140 lbs, he is not even rank at at this weight classes. And it's interesting that he is rank number 11 at lightweight (135 lbs). So I'm not surprised by the odds being given to us, 5:1 underdog seems to be fair for the unknown Duarte.

And most likely warm up fight for Ryan Garcia, just to get back to his rhythm. Also interesting what will be his new coach strategy or what new things can we seen on Ryan Garcia here.

So Ryan Garcia is really serious about continuing his boxing career. I am not sure if the lawsuit with Golden Boy Promotions is already settled hence he is back fighting for De La Hoya.

I also checked Ryan Garcia's opponent and I noticed that he is indeed a lightweight fighter. So this time Kingry is the one pushing his opponent to move up into unknown territory which is some sort of an exploitation. Apart from that Duarte Jurado is a decent opponent with a good record and fought decent opponents. The fight is happening this coming December 2 which means he can also set up a proper training camp. So I kind of agree with the odds although I was also expecting something like 1.22 for Kingry earlier.
