881  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 02, 2023, 01:13:55 PM

Could be better if he will retire already. He has one heck of a career during his prime years with the Clippers. But he is also a case wherein a injury can ruin someone's career. He was a high flyer during his prime and one of the best dunkers we have seen, he is very athletic when he started his career. Unfortunately, it was just pure show during the Clippers with him and CP3 and a prime DJordan. Wasn't enough to be in the finals in the West.

He will always be remembered as one of the great dunkers in NBA history because of those explosive dunks and posterizers he made during his prime and to consider retiring this year is not a bad idea. if only injury hadn't struck him in his early NBA career, he could become a threat and probably brought the Clippers to the NBA finals and competed for the championship but they were always left behind and lost in the NBA playoffs even with CP3 with them. nevertheless, if he is still healthy this season, he could be a big help for Celtics but I guess that's not the case anymore.

I honestly do not understand why there are many NBA superstars that continue to play even in their past prime and even if they are already in their late 30s. They were worth millions of dollars in the past and now they are getting minimum salaries that are actually peanuts from their previous contracts. I doubt they are financially unstable but it'll be too sad if they end up in bad financial situations reason why they continue to play.

Maybe they can play in other leagues with less pressure if they enjoy it. At least in the case of Dwight Howard in Taiwan, he was really given the playing time unlike sitting in the bench. But in the NBA, it's not like you're only on the bench two or three times a week. In the NBA it's like only 1 to 3 days of rest per week since even if they are not traveling for hours or have homecourt games, they need to attend regular team practice and team events.
882  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: October 02, 2023, 12:51:02 PM

Of course, war is not intended to benefit all the countries around the world. It benefits the victor most of the time. And as you said, the rich people are the least likely to be affected if not benefitting from it. At least nowadays most countries are democratic unlike in the past when most were ruled by kings where the main goal was the kingdom first before the people. It's like North Korea which is led by the Kim family. They prefer to prioritize the budget for arms and weapons while the majority of its people suffer from malnutrition.

When war does not benefit any country, but the countries that are fighting the war are likely to cause more destruction, and this has often been the case. Then why these countries prefer to fight war despite being aware of the worst effects of war. I do not think that war can benefit any victor because destruction on both sides is assured.

The countries which have progressed and laid a network of roads and built big buildings in their country, all of them become a pile of ashes in a few days during the war. People have to face severe hardships and problems arise for both the rich and the poor. Fighting and profiting may be personal satisfaction for one person, but it can never be beneficial for a country and its people.

If war brings no benefits then why does war always happen? Although even the winning country will have losses, the spoils they gain are not small, so war is not completely useless to some people. Another thing is that we are ignoring countries that are not directly involved in the war but are benefiting a lot by selling weapons and lending money to the warring parties. They are people who lose almost nothing but gain huge profits. They are even the ones who create those wars, because they are the ones who get rich from selling weapons.

I guess people saying that war has totally no benefit have little knowledge about history. War has been part of the human civilization. Be it power, territorial, race, religious, and influence. The Russian invasion of Ukraine for example has huge benefits if successful. It's just that the Russians did not expect the war to continue this long. Nonetheless, it is still holding Ukrainian territories especially the Crimean peninsula which is a very strategic location in the Black Sea. The effects may not be reflected right away since there are human, structures, and financial losses but in the long term, it is mostly worth it. Just like when the Americans risked and declared war on the Mexicans.
883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 02, 2023, 12:30:28 PM
The whole microscope is also on Derrick James the trainer, Crawford vs Spence and then now, Canelo vs Charlo. So it's 0-2 for him in championship fights and I see a lot of meme's in social media and questioning his award as trainer of the year.

He didn't motivate Charlo in the corner or give instructions on him. He needs to tell him to throw more punches, however, the trainer couldn't do anything in the ring. And if the fighter didn't respond and so he shouldn't be blame.

Just wondering that Ryan Garcia also change trainer to James after his lost to Tank Davis and there's rumour that he will announced his next opponent in the following week. Maybe he is the bad omen in the gym?  Grin

Anthony Joshua and Ryan Garcia joined Derrick James' stable knowing he's got a unified champion in Errol Spence and an undisputed champion in Jermell Charlo in his gym. But since these two fighters joined James, the flagships of the stable not only lost but were badly beaten by Crawford and Canelo.

Although I believe James knew Charlo's chances against Canelo. The guy is over a year inactive and then moved up two divisions north without a tune-up for Canelo. It was a clear money grab on the part of Charlo who's expected to receive around $5 million in that fight. I believe Jamal tried his best to prepare Charlo but the guy came there to survive and not to win.
884  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 02, 2023, 11:53:14 AM
Early retirement will be the better option,if you have some assets as your backup.Because the business alone help us to earn more for ourselves as compared to the regular salary. If you had enough backup of the assets, you can take the risk of the quit job and do the business which you like and your interest based business. So if you do the business which you like will help you to get self satisfied, the involvement to the game also more. You can give your hundred percentage in the business to grow yourself.

That is why I am really hoping to take advantage of the expected crypto bull run maybe next year and 2025 so I can have enough capital and savings that is to survive while the planned business is still striving in its market. I am also planning to stop a part of my regular job in order to give more attention to a business. Having a successful business is really the main goal so we can retire from our regular jobs. So I am once again willing to take risks once I have enough savings. Right now nearly all of my monthly savings go to bitcoin and some altcoins.
885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo - September 30th in Las Vegas on: October 02, 2023, 11:32:29 AM
In this fight, Jermell Charlo was always defending himself, he was always taking a step back in order to organize his defense, and any movement that Canelo made he took a huge step back. His strategy, I don't know if this could be considered a good strategy, consisted of standing back, making some movements with his arms, then retreating, when the canelo attacked him, then he would fight back, but always taking steps backwards. He tried a few times to make quick movements with his feet and some punches, but within a few minutes that Canelo counterattacked, he immediately retreated again, for most of the fight, or even I dare say that the entire fight, he was defending himself, taking steps back to ago, who seemed to be feeling some fear, or was being very cautious

or perhaps his constant retreat could be some strategy to make the caneloo get tired early while he saved his strength so that when the canelo got tired he would start attacking, the problem was that with that he suffered blows and as a consequence he soon threw himself towards the body of the canelo, constantly held the canelo. it looked more like him and that he was tired instead of Canelo being the first to get tired since Canelo was the guy attacking, it looked like Jermell was scared or sparing himself. In any case, this fight was very dominated by Canelo, congratulations to Canelo for the easy victory he had

I wonder if there was really a strategy to win. It seems like Charlo trained hard in order to survive the fight and he was indeed very successful. Previous Canelo opponents if not getting stopped have lots of bruises, even Bivol's arm was severely bruised. Charlo was quick to stay away and then hug Canelo to avoid the combinations. It was a shameful performance. Even in the late rounds where it is obvious that he needs to score a knockout or multiple knockdowns to get a win, he didn't really try.

Jermell's performance affects the market of his next fight. No wonder Crawford said he is no longer pursuing a fight with him.
886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reasons you should not gamble on too many things at once. on: October 02, 2023, 11:10:25 AM
And once again it is about the bettor if it is gambling responsibly or not. Focusing on a single sport or game is more favorable for someone who has limited time. But if someone is a hardcore follower of multiple sports, teams, and athletes then there is nothing wrong with betting at the same time. I have a friend who loves to bet like 2 to 5 NBA games daily and so far he is doing well with his strategy. But of course, it remains within its reasonable budget. If someone wants to bet more games at the same time then the budget should be divided accordingly to avoid overspending.

sometimes is good to try something new but not at the expense of risking crossing the limit and one the sports people focus more on when it comes to gambling is football that is what I noticed in my own region you hardly see them watching any other sport its just of recent I see  people diversifying into other sports since season end and they get bored so in one way or the other they need to start giving other sport a chance just to kill boredom. and you never can tell you might get lucky while playing other sports, but even before you start playing on other sports you need to understand how they play. as long has it has advantage it has disadvantage. as long has people are loosing money people are also making money the same time.
Football is everywhere! But there are many sports, each with its own appeal and excitement. Imagine missing the pleasure of a last-second basketball shot or the suspense of a tennis tie-breaker.

All fun and games until you cross that invisible line. As with everything, moderation is vital. Try new sports and learn about them. You may discover your next passion! Just remember to study the game before betting. Someone is continually losing money, but someone else is making it. So why not win?

What if you master these other sports and cant choose one? Too many options can be overwhelming! Something to consider.

I have enjoyed following and watching a lot of sports over the years but it is overwhelming especially when we're busy so we just have to set our priorities and then only choose the best games. The same with betting, we cannot bet on all the games we want to all the time. I have limited time so I just prioritized boxing, UFC (mixed martial arts), Dota 2 (e-sports), and NBA (basketball) most of the time since there are also events from other sports that are also too enticing. And even with these few selected sports and leagues, there are many times when I miss watching its games. And it is hard to analyze when haven't watched the previous games so it is better to just focus on betting on those that we are too confident.

Good job Unionbank para at least dagdag options.

888  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is this the path you should take to become successful? on: September 30, 2023, 12:02:05 PM
Ideally, all of us should go to school and get a degree in something we love or something we are gifted in order to further enhance it and be successful in life. This is usually happening in rich and modern countries. But in poor and developing countries, only the rich are mostly doing it since poor and ordinary people usually depend on the opportunities available. Employment is not that easy to find and capital is not available to start a business. Unlike the rich who have the right connections, the capital to start a business, or the capital to travel to faraway places just to find opportunities for the things they love to do.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk - December or January in Saudi Arabia on: September 30, 2023, 11:42:05 AM
This is it, the fight that fans really wanted to happen but one thing I don't like is that they overlooked the capability of Ngannou, which is a big disrespect for him. Don't know what is stipulated in the contract, if Fury loses against Ngannou, will the fight still push through?

Hopefully, Ngannou will pull an upset. It's probably bigger than Iron Mike's first defeat. But I doubt Ngannou can do anything. If Fury won't give Ngannou a chance then he can easily use his footwork, use his long jabs, and clinch when cornered for the first 4 rounds. Ngannou will be gassed out afterward or even earlier.

But finally, Big Belly signed the dot. He is probably convinced that Usyk's weakness is in the body. And I'm glad it is not happening in the UK where Fury insisted before. At least this is in neutral Saudi Arabia. Hopefully, this will happen in December although it is unlikely. Ngannou is a nuisance but Fury does not want to think of Usyk in advance so he may need a minimum of two months of training camp for Usyk after the Ngannou fight. And if Fury does not want to train hard during the Christmas season then this fight might happen from March onwards of next year.
890  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: September 30, 2023, 10:46:06 AM
You know, honestly, it just crossed my mind that the question is: have you heard of a war that has benefited all countries around the world? Have you read or watched any news like that? Even on Google, can you find anything? There is nothing, because the war brings destruction to every country, destruction from the economy number one, then importing and exporting will also be destroyed, so all countries around the world are affected.

So, as much as possible, we don't want a war with every country that is fighting. Because we citizens are the first to be affected by this, the rich people will not feel that much, unlike us ordinary citizens who are not rich. Millions of people around the world are affected just because of misunderstandings between two leaders of the country.

891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo - September 30th in Las Vegas on: September 30, 2023, 10:26:49 AM

The weigh-in is done and the fighters are ready. Both Canelo and Jermell weighed 167.4 pounds. Canelo seems to be more smiling since his arrival in Las Vegas for this weekend event. He is in good spirits which is very important. Jermell is also pumped ready and hungry to create his own legacy.

I expect Canelo the heavier fighter come fight night. I expect Charlo to fight smart, use his jab, and stay away from Canelo. The biggest question however is the quickness of Jermell since he is moving up 2 weight divisions and he is also more than a year inactive.

The odds favored a decision since it is expected that Jermell will stay away from close encounters and will try to use his range as much as possible. But if he is feeling heavy on his feet then Canelo should be able to corner him, slow him down with his body punches, and stop him in the late rounds.

Another title fight tomorrow via DAZN, Jai Opetaia's first defense of his IBF cruiserweight belt against Jordan Thompson. Both are heavy handed so this fight might have more action than the Canelo-Charlo duel.
892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 30, 2023, 09:18:24 AM
I also wanted to see good chemistry between Giannis and Lilard.

Not that fast, but they need to develop that trust between them. Both are alphas which one of them needs to step down and give
the leadership, I'm aiming to see characteristic of aiming as one and not to fall down with who's much better among the two, a KD
and Curry's respecting each other type of leadership.

If they can create that 1-2 punch between Dame and the Freak, that's a tough offensive attack that Bucks can lean on.
They probably not expecting it as well to be playing with one another. But that's already there and they have to embrace both of them to be in the same team.

We're all waiting for the good chemistry that shall be built between both of them since Giannis wants to win another title again and this could be the way that Lillard is going to have.

We have to see it first on how this tandem of theirs are going to make, many of us think the same that they're not going to do well. But, they will be both in the same practice and soon to be in the same court on the regular season.

I expect both Giannis and Lillard to have good chemistry. Both are alphas in their different teams but both are not ball hogs and are team first type of players so they should go along just like KD and Curry before.

So it is my first time to take a look at the current odds. The hype is really strong on the Milwaukee Bucks to crown this season. Personally, I still pick the Denver Nuggets as the overall favorites then the Bucks while the Suns and Celtics are close next. Very interesting as the West and East both have 2 of the favorite teams to win.

893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 29, 2023, 10:36:15 AM
Pat could be a  good back court duo with Lillard as he can shoot 3s and can score more than Jae.

That's just probably your personal opinion, but statistics don't lie as Jae Crowder shoots better than Pat Connaughton.

Please refer their respective stats.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/connapa01.html
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/crowdja01.html

Jae is 43.6% while Pat is 33.9%, that's their last season's average, and if you look closely on the stats, Jae's percentage has improve significantly, which is opposite to what happen with Pat.

While the stats may say that Crawdor has a better 3-point shooting percentage, what matters more is the chemistry within the team. Pat has been with the team for 5 seasons, while Crowder has only played 1 season, not even the full season. So, I'm sure they will not only base the decision on shooting percentage; the team will evaluate which of the two players is more deserving to be in the starting lineup.

I also believe that Pat will be the starting SG due to his long years of experience playing with Giannis and the Bucks. Jae is a proven veteran but he is definitely more fit at SF and PF. Khris is also an SF and I doubt he can play as a regular SG too. Anyways, the coach can change the starting lineups any time of the season though depending on how the team performs.

I wonder what the odds look like now, especially in the east. More like Boston and Milwaukee are at 50/50 now, although Kristap is more prone to injury.
894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: September 29, 2023, 09:58:15 AM
This year's compendium seemed to be lackluster. Heck, I might even go my own way and say that if you got the anniversary items that Valve released (the ones wherein you need to win 13 times in order to unlock it) is even worth grinding compared to the contents of this year's compendium. I don't expect people to actually buy it and spend money to get the levels. It might even force people to just do the 'abuse' route to get the maximum rewards rather than buy the levels. It's as if the Dota 2 team no longer wants to cater to its player base with how the rewards are setup.

It is by design as far as I know. Valve is trying to spread the prize money across the season now, instead of having TI with the highest prize pool and then very small tournaments throughout the season. The reason being TI has become far too important as an event and the rest of the season is becoming lackluster and teams aren't competing hard enough at the smaller events. So, basically the plan is, Make TI smaller compared to the previous installments and then have slightly higher prizepools for majors and lower tier events.

This move is just to keep the Dota scene, even at the lower leagues active and to support the smaller teams and players by increasing the prizepool while taking a cut out of TI. I guess there's sustainibility issues already in the event management scene, when it comes to Dota as there are fewer tournament orginizations left because, it just hasn't been profitable enough for them to sustain Longterm.

I understand Valve's move in trying to make all DOTA 2 events significant and more interesting by increasing their prize pools. I think it was last year or the other year that said that the game's player numbers continued to drop in significant numbers. So it really makes sense that Valve needs to take action. The current TI prize though is just too small compared to its previous years. It seems like it is no longer like the anticipated event some years ago where all of my friends are watching even if most of us are no longer playing the game.

I am not sure why there are limited new players in DOTA 2. Maybe the game is harder to play? I admit that the characters are not that cool, unlike the other games' heroes. In DOTA 2, most of its heroes are monster-looking.
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 29, 2023, 09:38:59 AM

Possible that Canelo will lose though. Seem a bit in decline if you look at all his previous fights which somehow in a unanimous decision. He took a risk against Bivol and lost. He also stopped improving. Maybe because he is already rich and there are no incentives to make more money anymore.

Apparently, Charlo is new in this weight class, he just bloated himself for the purpose of fighting Canelo. If he isn't used to his weight yet which is more than likely, it doesn't need a bit of a push for Canelo to KO him. 5th Division seems enough of an achievement for Caanelo, he isn't even 40 yet.

Whenever any fighter does that, (bloats himself) I think it has a lot of effect on his body and also his fighting as well. Fighters generally will need some good amount of time to get used to with his new weight. So it is definitely hard for anyone to fight in a new weight class.

Which is why Canelo is highly favored in this fight. And Charlo is not just moving up 1 division but 2 divisions north. Another thing is Charlo's over a year of inactivity. Normally, stars will take a tune-up fight after a long layoff or when moving up in weight but this one is different. The money is just too hard to refuse so Charlo has to take the challenge.

Charlo might be sluggish in this fight and it spells disaster as he can be easily cornered by Canelo who likes to fight someone who is flat-footed so he can unleash his deadly power punches.
896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cockfighting? on: September 29, 2023, 09:11:10 AM
As a Filipino myself, I have witnessed several cockfighting scenes in my hometown city and various parts of the province in the past. It is also common in some lesser-known Filipino TV channels who advertised cockfighting.

But I have never tried betting once on these cocks.

It is now being outlawed here in the Philippines. During the pandemic, there are many guys who were apprehended by the authorities even in the underground or hidden locations due to citizens reporting them.

Until now, I haven’t seen much of cockfighting activities here in the Philippines for gambling purposes.

I remember seeing cock fights on lesser-known television channels before. I even thought before that they were losing money since I expected that there would be fewer viewers. But I was probably wrong since cockpit arenas during events are always jam-packed as for my own observations.

The last time I heard is it is actually back in business mate. As early as last year when a lot of people were already vaccinated and the COVID-19 cases lowered. Cock pit arenas are open again but maybe some places are not allowing it. But so far I heard a lot of them are already open since some people from different places I know once again started traveling to places where cockpit derbies are happening.
897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: September 29, 2023, 08:51:36 AM
And if it is true that Inoue stays at 122 for a while, he can also tell Tapales that he will just wait for the winner of his upcoming mandatories since it is most likely that they are all willing to fight Inoue because he is the biggest cash cow in the division plus it'll be for the undisputed championship. Maybe Tapales can also say that he will vacate 1 of his belts so Inoue will be forced to face 2 champions instead of just 1 more fight to become undisputed. Anyway, hope both Inoue and Tapales will settle their differences so we can see another undisputed fight this year.

My instinct tells me that this fight will push through, it is just a matter of how much they add to their offer to Marlon Tapales. Sean Gibbons is very good at that negotiation so there is no reason why this fight won't come to fruition and in fact Marlon Tapales was already in the US busy preparing for this fight that is most likely to happen this end of the year.

Yeah, we will have to just trust Sean Gibbons on the negotiation table, as much as we hated him because of some failed fight like when they still handle Casimero back then. But that was history already and they have parted ways.

But I do agree that Tapales has something to offer as well, he had 2 belts and Inoue needed it to become a unified champion. If they low ball Tapales and then the fight is not going to happen, then it will be a waiting game for Inoue. Maybe Tapales will go and give Akhmadaliev or choose a different path. Inoue's camp should be the A-side but they should respect Marlon as well and give him at least a decent paycheck for being a champion.

If there's a problem with the negotiation between Inoue and Tapales, it might result in an early fight with Casimero. If Inoue considers Casimero as an opponent, in terms of selling the fight, I think it's easy to promote the fight with Casimero since he was once a champion and is very popular as a boxer, although not as popular as Inoue. You know, in boxing, it's always the money that comes first; it's a business. So, if they agree on the price, anything could happen.

Imagine if Casimero is getting the Inoue fight next and not Tapales. It is also possible that Casimero will be available right away this December or January next year since Oguni is only a light tune-up that should be disposed of quickly or at least an easy decision without suffering big injuries.

But I am also confident that both Inoue and Tapales will come to terms and will fight this December. Maybe Inoue's camp is just trying to tell the public that they will stay at 122 for long so Tapales will agree to their offer. I really have the feeling that Inoue will only want the undisputed crown at 122 then make 1 or 2 title defenses before moving up again at 126 for additional legacy to his legendary career.

Please do not give us advice. We also know how to sell bitcoin at the current exchange rate on the stock exchanges. But since we have a gambling license, changing certain limits is prohibited in our country and we have to tax it. We do not have anything to do with the poor. Do you know the tax problems of gambling license companies? I think no. Don't waste your time.
