Dead die?

This is an October Jupiter that's been running from 24/7. Noticed I have a dead die. I already increased the SPI voltage all the way up to 3.3V and it wouldn't kick it on. Then I slowly increased the individual die voltage to the MAX, which is +.1465. Didn't awake up the die either. Is there anything else that can be done to kick this die on?  I would really thought that the rig would last a lot longer then 8 months.

Can the SP10 be setup on its side when using no rack? Of course I would need something to make sure it wouldn't fall over, but that may be the best way to keep it cooler.
903  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 23, 2014, 12:22:39 AM
When ambient is at an acceptable temperature, you just need ventilation. It doesn't matter how much heat you put into the air if you can simply substitute that air with ambient temp air.

You think if even is +40C?
Yep.

It doesn't matter how fast you wee into a cup, if I keep replacing your cup with an empty cup, you'll never fill it.

not quite a correct analogy.

Ventilation does not prevent turbulence. Air can be travel inefficiently that hot air got suck back into the miner .
You need to build a ducting system right at the rack. Thats the only way to control direction of air. Remember folks, you need ventilation and air direction control to be effective.

You don't if you have floor to ceiling double ended ventilation. Ie a door on one side and a door on the other....
I have my miners in my garage and this will be the first hot weekend of the summer. I'm hoping that by opening my garage door a few times a day I can recycle the air. Its north facing and thats where the cool wind comes from. If that doesnt work I have a 12000 BTC portable AC unit ready to go. Would rather not use it though.

That portable AC unit won't do anything in your garage. Once your garage's ambient temperature starts to increase well into the 80's and lower 90's there isn't much you can do. And since most garage's aren't insulated (why would they be) they are hard to cool and hard to keep warm. They aren't designed to be. Notice no videos with these powered on? There's really no where you can put one in any house and not hear it.

Me and my dad are on the fence about this. It would be just one SP10 for each of us. We are already running a KNC Jupiter and would love to keep both miners in the same room, but at 110V the AMPS get all the way up to 10-11amps. That's basically an entire circuit we need to find that isn't being used by anything or get to the home depot and run our own lines into the room.

Does the SP10 run better or more efficient if it is plugged into a 220V line than a 110V line? Does it run better?

905  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 22, 2014, 03:38:22 AM
2x SP10 finally arrived, US customs released the captives..

Whonesta, I read in the S2 thread that you just took possession of some S2 machines too.
You've got quite a collection going there … adding a SP30 this year too ?

~L)L~

I will have my eyes open come Q3/Q4 ( Cheesy Grin Cheesy)
I plan to move the S1 racks (6xS1) back to the house from DC to heat, so that should open up 4KWs or so.

The SP10 is looking great so far so I can not wait until their Gen2 stuff comes out.

Does anyone know how many AMPS this SP10 takes up during normal operation?
906  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 22, 2014, 12:13:19 AM
Sorry, it is hard to read 105 pages quickly when trying to make a quick decision. If I were to order an SP10, would I receive that from stock right now and would that pay itself off? I currently have an KNC rig going at 560GH/s right now, but just wanted to add a little more. Also what I'm worried about is the power supply. These don't come with power supplies, so which power supply would be a good one for an SP10? And do these ship from the US or abroad? Just trying to decide to see if a purchase like this would be worth it. With rewards so low, I would want to at least break even....at least of course.
Thanks.

p.s. does the SP10 need external cooling to keep it cool at all, or all the internal fans do their job?

Yep...they are CURRENTLY shipping from stock...$2.795 + S&H...
Yep...SP10 COMES WITH it's own power supply...in the box...
No...made in and shipping from Israel...by DHL...or FedEx...

ROI...I don't know...you do the math for yourself...I am waiting for $1,795...maybe next month... Wink

Good luck, buddy...

ZiG

Sorry, another question I forgot to ask....I did look on their site for this information, but couldn't find it. After placing an order, what is the approx time of delivery to the east coast of the US?

I'll let you know when I get mine.  Order #1356 placed on 5/20 paid by wire transfer.  Being sent to the east coast.

Thanks. I know these type designs are very loud, so I may need to find a good cool place for it. I certainly can't place it in my office, it would be way too loud... and since summer is coming I have to make sure it is at least in a cool room. I told myself I would just buy bitcoin and do away with mining, but buying alone takes the fun factor out of it. What to do. What to do.

Also, one SP10 is fine for a normal household electrical line, right? I believe it is a 15-20amp line.

I've been following this thread for some time now.  And there isn't much talk about Titans.

I'm planning to buy one, can anyone give some more insight?

All I'm seeing here is that ''It might ship broken'' ''It'll die in 4 months from heat''

As far as sending them a bank transfer of $10K, I'll be risking that along with will the machine even work  Sad

Someone stop me before I do it or someone give me a push to do it is what I'm looking for.

With the current rate of Doge or Lite coin.  Let's say I get $400 / 300/MHS that's $12K a month. I'll make it back in a month. Or am I walking into a scam right now.

Because people don't usually dump out $10k without a return policy. There is a NO RETURN POLICY in there for a reason and the reason is KNC has no idea on how this "Titan" will end up.
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 21, 2014, 07:43:02 PM
So what has to happen for mining to remain profitable in 2015 ?

I've said this several times. Mining bitcoin on the consumer level is over. Normal households cannot supply enough electricity or cooling power to any mining rigs that can break even in an normal amount of time. And I'm not speaking to those guys that re-wired their homes and added special cooling to keep mining at "home".

When I see people posting their pictures of their gear more and more of it is in some commercial data center they rented or work.  If you work for a company that can provide the space and free electricity then you are really lucky, but in my opinion consumer mining is over. While there will always be guys running video cards, spending more money on hardware and electricity, that doesn't count. I'm talking about current hardware/specs/profit at the given time.

911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 21, 2014, 06:53:49 PM
after meeting orama, he was very short in hat he would say. he is of the opinion he owes no one anything, be that a thank you, a sorry or a explanation, he stopped working at KnC months agp but cannot really talk about it, he recons he is due thousands from KnC and he got paid very little for his work.

since leaving KnC he has had nothing to do with bitcoin, why he was at the 2014 confrenece I don't know. basically he struck me as  a ittelegent guy but quite naive in his thinking. it was hard to.push him for answers, I suspect I very tight NDA keeping him quiet. while I was informing my friend David and trying to push on certain parts of.KnC's contempt and dishonesty, I could almost see Alex nodding in agreement, it was like I was watching the back of his head but knew this jaw and mouth were moving to mimic and copy the words I was speaking.

I met Alex with a friend of mine David Bailey, he runs ybitcoin magazine, whom KnC along with many other BTC companies are paid advertises. I tried my hardest to point out KnC crowd funding their own data center, breaking network protection, owning 11% of network and screwing franken jup customers.

Basically David was having none of it, he had very little understanding of what KnC had done over the last 6 months, although he has met them and thinks they are intelligent and full of charisma, he has never been a customer, only a paid advertiser. I am sure he told.me KnC are the best company to date and he has spoke or read reviews from customers which say so.

I feel as if we the community should show ybitcoin the real KnC and encourage them to be dropped as advertisers. either that of boycot the magazine.

bitcoin has taken a large turn for me recently, I have been learning and studying since 2011 and so much has changed, mostly in the last 6-12 months. who knows if I will stick around for the next 3 years.

Has had nothing to do with bitcoin, but was at a bitcoin conference.

My suggestion is just not to believe anyone.

How about treating us with the same dignity as the ones you sent the newsletter to?

...And how were we treated with "dignity" again?  I must have missed that part.

i got a newsletter  Grin lucky me.
chip specs for the titan??!! WTF... where are the chip specs for the Neptune!?

No chip spec for the Neptune, but they reminded everyone once again that they will open a cloud mining service which will compete with their own customers and which will make their customers earn less bitcoins after they promised that they will NOT compete with their customers. Good job KnC! Fucking liars! Mega fail!

PLEASE everyone! Keep in mind, EVERY newsletter you see by KNC is a marketing tool/tactic. It isn't to supply you with any reasonable information. They are worded very professionally, not technically all for future sales/customer's. It ALL boils down to one thing and one thing only. SALES. SALES. SALES. Every word, every newsletter is incur potential sales. That's the only reason or anyway KNC can stay afloat is to get as many sales as they can.

Maybe you don't believe this, but that's the only reason why a company would have any reason to speak to its customers, SALES and more SALES and potential SALES.

Yeah dammit!  I feel so abused and abandoned now... with dignity, of course.

And you still have how many Neptune's on order?
914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 21, 2014, 03:36:24 PM
When you read their news you'll see statements like this:

"We have a photo today of what the new Neptune ASIC board will look like, The chip on this card is the Jupiter 28nm chip but the card will physically look the same when it starts shipping next month."

Putting "starts shipping" in the statement is a passive way to hypnotize our minds that it really will happen. Another marketing tactic out of the marketing 101 book.
915  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: GHASH seems to be down on: May 13, 2014, 06:48:00 PM
Haven't been able to connect for about 40 minutes. Anyone else?

I can connect to other pools very quickly and hash right away....seems to be related only to GHASH for now. Hey, at least my little alert  script I wrote worked!

Yep down for me too!  I notice the last two days that hashing went to zero for a bit early in the morning, before bouncing back up.  At first I thought it was me, but then I realized that the equipment I have in two different locations went down at the same time, so it must've been GHash.  So, I contacted them.  I got the line "we had an issue, but everything is fine now".  Just then everything started crashing.  My S1's could not connect at all.  I switched over to Eligius and everything connected straight away.  So, I contacted them again.  They claim there is "no problem".  Well, my zero hash rate says otherwise.  I'm sticking with Eligius for right now until they figure it out, and more importantly, ADMIT to problems.

One thing I noticed lately was that when creating a new worker, it would say it's connected to uk1.ghash.io, even if I specified the US server.  This morning I noticed my workers now report us1.ghash.io.  So, whatever fix they made for that really screwed things up.

I'm able to connect to their UK based server, but not their US server.
By the way, you actually called them and got a mining pool on the phone?

No phone-- email.

UPDATE:

Well, my pool is recovering.  And I noticed that my worker now says "uk1.ghash.io" again, even though I specified the US server.  So, whatever they were working on, didn't work so well, so they put it back.  I guess we're stuck with the UK server until they figure it out.  Well, at least it WORKS, so that's OK.

I manually switched over to the UK server and it came back up...so I guess something is going on. Hard to tell someone that knows everything there is a problem.

Me unpacking my $10,000 investment:

http://youtu.be/UsPYcQlMlGk

You guys are seriously getting FUCKED up the ass here and really should get some legal help with this. They seriously can't blame every issue to the shipping company. How could that be even possible? %100 out of %100 deliveries damaged? Don't shit on this shit, I'd get legal help somehow and fast. You all spent at least $9k on these things, so you have to have some money. Put the legal pressure on. Don't let them keep giving you the run around with sending you already broken parts. Wait until people start receiving parts that are already broken. Then you have to go through the RMA shit ALL over again. And maybe by that time, you've lost thousands of dollars but were offered a cloud hashing subscription? You'll never make the money you intended to make if things were correct here. Anyone right now that is affiliated with KNC is screwed.

31 days after my Refund request Anna keep rolling the same " it will be transferred in few weeks" .

One month lies and BS.

Is it sure that the bank accounts of KNC are still not blocked by Swedish government?

Something start smell here. 1 Month for refund is really a lot, even for cheap bastards like KNC.

Just to remind you guys:

Don't send any Money to KNC. Don't buy any nonrefundable hardware from them.

KNC is SCAM NOW and they going to score Fraud of 2014. Hold on for Q5

Request for a BTC refund instead as they are offering that as an option now.

BTC refund will not work for our Tax office in UK.
All we want is this transfer started finally how they promised when we pay for the product:

"All Refunds will be refunded in dollars and you can refund till shipment"

Are we doing something wrong KNC?

Then you get it to work. That's a lame excuse. BTC refund won't work because of taxes issuses. Get your BTC back, get it back in cash. Then make appointment with your IRS and ask them how to proceed. You'll have them going in circles for months they'll never get back to you and you'll be covered from the paper work you have trying to make it right.
