This is informative thread and it has all the answers that one need to get started with this forum. Appreciate all your efforts to create a thread like this. I can feel how you might have searched through whole forum to get the proper links and gather it together.

I’m so impressed with “bitcoin button” tag which was launched back in 2012. It made me think why they did not added more symbols into the repository.

Reading through different threads is like traveling back in time and see how they were making conversations with each other to develop the forum as we see it today..Great job!
1562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shiba Inu's future on: July 22, 2022, 07:24:58 AM
With Walker getting hired for the future development of SHIB based metaverse I think there is some chance for SHIB in the future. I am not saying it will go boom, but it will show some upward movement and this can be taken as an advantage for your daily trading or intra day. Easy to buy since the price is cheapest of cheap and if even one spark goes off for the metaverse in good sense then I am sure you will get handsome amount of money back in your pockets.

But dont be too hard on its investment.
1563  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Air conditioning and miners on: July 22, 2022, 07:12:03 AM
13 x 13 feet is still moderately big room for one miner.
For 5 miners the heat would be a lot and all you have to do is keep the room temperature to the lowest.

I see lot of technical details above but frankly speaking when you set up your miners and do the work then you will understand actual situation in the room by assessing it with few factors such as:
1) You atmospheric temperature
2) Your room area
3) Volume of your Air Conditioner (if central then this wont count)

I have my own set up of two miners with similar room dimensions as yours but a little larger by 2 feet.

Honestly, that's huge area.

My set up is in temperate area where atmospheric temperature goes above  45 °C in summer and is always around 30-35°C on the average day.

I have only one Air Condition in place which is also only 15 tons and is average size AC in my country.

The whole set up can be seen as follows:

I would like to point out that I have made this assembly in a room which was built with 2-3 inch plywood and gypsum material. This is very poorly constructed in terms of fixed structure and thus there are minor openings in between two sheets and many times outer air flows in which could be hot air blow making huge fluctuations.

I am telling you the negative's in my set up because even after these unwelcomed conditions my miners temperature is around 40-60 °C. This further drops to 28-30°C in the winter and rainy season.

Image: Represents 2 Hrs of Graph for my miner with Sapphire Cards.[/center]

Scale & Descriptions:

......... ---> Watt Graph (Yellow Dotted Line)
_____ ---> Hash Rate (Purple Line)
_____ ---> Temperature (Red Line)
_____ ---> Fan Speed (Blue Line)

You might be setting up ASICs, GPU's etc but remember one thing, just keep the Air Conditioners airflow directly onto your machines and you are good to go.

In my case as you can see, I have kept the miners fan direction opposite to each other and away from the AC's flow.

This literally sucks the cool air and throws away in the room. This does not at all heat up the room because over the time your room as whole gets cooled down!

Oh yes, not similar but same kinda stuff happened in the India back in currency alteration process so that anyone with black money can get caught red handed.

There were kilometers long queues outside the bank as well as ATM's so that bank user can exchange the notes with the new one. This caused the chaos throughout India and billions of dollars were caught as black money!

So when it comes to centralised processing, government always has the power to overcome our money.

Is our money safe in the bank? Hell no! This currency alteration scenario shook the world on how one government can escalate the situation in the country.

Peeps with millions of rupees in cash were left question marked! They startled with the situation and lost all the money because if they report that much cash then that's definitely had legal actions for possession of black money.

However, when it comes to the bitcoin, its your own bank!
1565  Economy / Economics / Re: Surprisingly, Elon's Tesla is not so keen on hodling BTC anymore on: July 21, 2022, 07:33:05 AM
The only meme that I recall from this is:

We all know how this works in the world of multiple business stream. The guy has to sell when its time to sell and hold when its time hold.
Elon ain't doing any charity here to push the bitcoin to all new levels. All he is doing is making his money multiply or at least try to manipulate the market with his wealth.

You never know, what's on his mind, but as I stated above, "This is Business"
1566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SHIB, DOGE and BabyDoge: How Do Community Favorites Perform? on: July 21, 2022, 06:43:50 AM
Most of these little valued coins will always get invested for their easiness and for being in the talks all the time. I am pretty sure that they have huge base otherwise they would have never sustained until now. If by far Elon would have not played with them to this extend then those coin would be rolling near by 50-60 cents for sure.

The only joke that happened with them is whales left the chat room when Elon overdo it.

Believe me, otherwise they would have been kings of alts by now. It's yet surprising how we keep talking about them all the time which itself is publicity and likeliness of these coins.
1567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Crypto Standard ? on: July 20, 2022, 06:21:11 AM
There seems no logic behind this whatsoever. The reason is, all other crypto currencies came in after bitcoin was formed and they all are based on either erc20 and above side chains. Bitcoin itself is flourishing on the blockchain which has on going processing of mining as pow and confirming the transactions. On the other hand erc20 itself is going to go boom on PoS soon so there seems no relationship between the two on technical scale.

Apart from this, on factual basis it may happen but then we will have to discard bitcoins USD value and keep in mind that 1 BTC = 1 BTC so that it can be standardized. Then after you will have to keep in mind that 1 eth = xyz satoshi, USDT = abc satoshi like that.

Just by keeping the vegetables on the shelf with bitcoin price tag mean nothing to it.

We are over 23k, we just touched 23.5. Maybe it is time to start thinking (or just bet without thinking) on 25-27.5 range? Current odds 16.10 are very very tempting.
What is interesting, the most popular bet is still 20-22.5 (2.80, 3,325 bets), but the second one is 15-17.5, with odds 3.73 and only 1000 bets! Was there a quite big amount locked, hmm?

While that is a very juicy odd, I think it is still too early to say that we would reach than range. For all the same reasons, we can dop back again to below 20k. Price remains too volatile for me.

The odds of betting also gives lot of information regarding the same. I am also tempted with the odds in range of 25k but it seems highly impossible to reach that mark just like that. There are still 10 days left for bitcoin to show its amusing nature and startle us but at the end its our money thats at the stake. Lolz.

I think this time I may divide my funds in 20-22 and 25-27 range just to make sure I do not miss the high odd train. In anyways you have to balance the funding such as you will get both the bets backs and go above BEP.
1569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will exchanges control ETH after it becomes a PoS cryptocurrency? on: July 20, 2022, 03:21:48 AM
Do you think big exchanges like Binance, FTX, and Huobi will be able to control ETH after it becomes a full-fledged cryptocurrency? if not, why? Will there still be hope for ETH after the upgrade is finalized? What will happen if ETH collapses due to centralization? Will it take the whole crypto market down with it? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

The first thing you need to understand what is PoS? Then all of your questions will get resolved automatically.

What you see on an exchanger as staking has got nothing to do with the PoS directly involved with the coin.

If you want to get involved with the direct PoS then you will have to become Validator in the system. This is similar to becoming a miner when you are doing PoW. In case of ETH - PoS validator you will have to stake your own 32 ETH on the network which is around ~ $ 50,000 as of today's date.

Once you do that you will have to follow the software running process which includes: an execution client, a consensus client, and a validator.

However there is catch in this! To overcome flood of Validator or risking the fishy flow of whales for that matter, the Validators will be put into queue before they can join the network for PoS work.

Once they in, they start to receive the blocks from peers and validators need to do attestation of the block by voting it and thus confirming the transaction.

In addition to this, its not about who has staked a lot (in our case you might be saying whale with huge money); but it's all about how "FINALITY" happens. Its distributed work of many validators which goes through checkpoints to confirm the vote.

To overcome the reversible transaction Validator would need to loose his stake from the balance and is charged around one third of total staked supply (currently around $10,000,000,000)

Similarly PoS is protected from 51% where an attacker would need 51% of the staked ETH (about $15,000,000,000 USD).

Its not truly centralised, it's still distributed from validator to validator and to be just single validator they will need huge amount of money and still above algorithms will be in place to validate the vote of one validator.

Its highly impossible to reverse, collapse, 51% attacked! So no exchangers can not do that, they simply running proof of stake collaboratively with their users. They can't risk it.

Most of the information and above knowledge can be found on PoS ETH on official site.
1570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you bothered about what happens to your Bitcoin when you are no more? on: July 19, 2022, 01:02:13 PM
Anyways, I have my funds divided on mobile wallet, Ledger Nano X, and have back up stored on HDD's. I dont think there is any fear if I am gone one day because I will tell my wife or kids about it before I go away and if bitcoin still exists by that time. Not hardship I see.

Which would make it much harder for people to get your Bitcoin when you are alive,,, but even harder for loved ones to get it when you are dead.

Imagine asking them to just get access to your phone is hard enough, what more to tell them about different devices, different wallets,,, etc?

The number of people who die suddenly and their family is clueless about their inheritance is pretty high Smiley

I am pretty sure they understand the bitcoin wallets and how to access it. My phone is always accessible to everyone in my house (password protected). In addition to this they know how to use hardware wallet and they have their own wallets too. Geekies here Smiley

Moreover, if I accidently die, they know how to access it, if all of us accidently die then there is no question about it, consider them lost with us. Lolz.

and have back up stored on HDD's

With backups on HDD you may have issues with hackers or lost data, no with your family....

I dont think there is any fear if I am gone one day because I will tell my wife or kids about it before I go away and if bitcoin still exists by that time. Not hardship I see.

I'd advise you consider making sure your wife or somebody can actually understand how to access those funds... just in case some medical emergency is very expensive. Better safe than sorry...

Arghhh, I am pretty sure no one is going to hack my external HDD just like that when its disconnected.
I am pretty much aware of the risks. I am the guy who had my Ledger wallet lost and found!

But thanks for the advices guys. Let's keep our data, wallets, hard drives safe!
1571  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | Earn up to 50% rakeback | VIP | on: July 19, 2022, 09:40:49 AM
~ While there is not a winning strategy that you can apply to slots there are in fact a few games which can be beaten by the professionals, with one of them being sports bets.

Even if we reach the point in which casinos could perfectly price the odds of every single sport match around the world people cannot do that, which means that a lot of money could be gambled in favor of a team and then the casino will need to adjust the odds for that team winning in order to encourage people to bet on the opposite team, and as such professional gamblers can take the improved odds and give themselves a small edge this way, it is not easy to do but there are in fact some gamblers out there with a winning strategy on some gambling games.

Undoubtedly, sports betting is something where you can apply your skills and have an edge over inexperienced bettors. Of course, luck is still a factor there, but with many bets made its influence diminishes, and therefore it's possible to consistently make money on sports betting. But we should be aware that only a few people are capable of that, maybe one in a thousand. For the rest of us it's a great entertainment, but not something we can live off.

Agreed. However, the luck factor plays little role while making strategies on the sports betting. That's more or less factual based games and you know very well whose strong, whose loose while playing the particular games. Only the thing to keep in mind, never bet on the teams which you love or are favorited and you just keep betting on them irrespective of the fact that whose playing up front! That's really worst way to bet and loose just because you did not studied the whole game, teams, strongest players available and that days weather too!

Now, living on the games, gambling and online income is all myth. At some point it's more or less only passive income and you need more than that to survive. Even more when you are in after covid and inflated dimensional world.  Wink
1572  Economy / Economics / Re: The fear of Bitcoin monopoly in El Salvador on: July 19, 2022, 09:33:32 AM
El Salvador currently has 1,771 BTC[1]. BTC skyrocketing to $100,000 is going to end them with only $177m (not including the buy cost). That's literally nothing in contrast to how much funds the United States and China has.

[1] https://bitcointreasuries.net/

Yeah, that is just funny.

If Salvador would buy all coins available , 19 million of them, at 20k each they would first need about 400 billion to do so, their whole GDP is 24 billion so they would need 16 years of spending every single penny for coins.

Now, if all those coins could raise to $100,000, their whole value would be 1.9 trillion, which is about 9% of US annual GDP. To be richer than China and the US combined, now taking wealth into the equation, they would need to buy every single coin and each of those coins to be worth 10 million.

Quote
Granted, Chivo is a public ledger, hence the citizens can be aware of transactions and all that.

No it's not!

Yeah, while reading the OP I laughed a lot and I laughed even harder when they mentioned that it would be worth US and China combined! I think US itself spend more money on their military than what El Salvador could earn in couple of years. The amounts are in trillions man, and there is no bitcoin make you that rich just by going zoom from 19k to 100k.  Tongue

Thats really psychh calculations.

Quote
Granted, Chivo is a public ledger, hence the citizens can be aware of transactions and all that.

These days don't believe what you see and it's harder to see when its digital. Be aware of political strategies, they are insane.
1573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you bothered about what happens to your Bitcoin when you are no more? on: July 19, 2022, 08:53:49 AM
I am not worried for now considering I am using my assets as and when required in similar ways I am using my hard earned salary from real job. Whatever I am investing in here is just savings which I believe shall become highly profitable as the time passes and bitcoin or other coins value start to increase.

Anyways, I have my funds divided on mobile wallet, Ledger Nano X, and have back up stored on HDD's. I dont think there is any fear if I am gone one day because I will tell my wife or kids about it before I go away and if bitcoin still exists by that time. Not hardship I see.
1574  Other / Archival / Re: Most crypto-friendly economies in the world on: July 17, 2022, 01:23:03 PM
I am not sure if that is the list by its number and dominance or its just randomly placed but I do feel that Switzerland will top all countries soon considering they are famous for their Swiss account and money laundering. Lolz. The Swiss must making huge plans for the same and will surprise us sooner or later. ;-)

I dint know Germany is also crypto friendly. Its interesting. USA is really mixed one and messed up one considering they are having some countries with opposite thoughts with crypto and some are way friendly!
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is yours thought about SLP( Smooth Love Potion) ? on: July 17, 2022, 08:51:28 AM
Interesting, I did not know this project is still taking break. I saw huge promotional threads as well as social media presence for smooth love potion back in time and was very interested in the concept. However, to keep myself away from the NFT, p2E world I made some decisions not to invest into them. The current price is hilarious though the whole market is on downfall. The problem with such projects is, they need to make come back as if they started just now when the prices are almost zero. So its huge risk.
1576  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: STOCK MARKET on: July 17, 2022, 07:41:39 AM
Yes I wish I had the knowledge to trade effectively like those I keep seeing on the Instagram reels where peeps have big set ups of multiple screens, graphs running from one screen to fourth and fifth. God knows how do they do it hut definitely they are cool at trading.

That’s the kind of stock market trading they are doing these days. Huge technical analysis and factual analysis is what we need to trade effectively!

Right now I am just buying and selling with simple concept of buy low and del high. Definitely need more than that.
1577  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid loan apps, a word of advice. on: July 17, 2022, 06:43:07 AM
I think they are talking about the apps like LazyPay, PayLater, Dhani etc apps which allows you to pay money instantly to any services or products and you can pay the money later to those services. This is nothing but taking the loan from then and paying back the money with stipulated timeline.

If you do not payback the amount then obviously as default you will be charged interest on the amount.

These services are high risk and can affect your CIBIL score directly.

So better your friend report it to banks with proper proofs or they may get affected with CIBIL.
1578  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is like a venereal disease-- Charlie Munger on: July 16, 2022, 03:40:29 PM
Well we do have Elon Musk, so im not afraid of any more threat speeches from some random guys. Elon has already took breath out of us with his tweet act and shown that how crypto is easy to manipulate and inflate with artificial stance.

Whatever is happening right now is just the result of current market situation. With the real world inflation, war and economic crisis in many countries has led to worst economic circle of the decade and thus crypto currencies also suffering from it.

I don’t think that the guy is putting straight forward implications here.
1579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whitepaper says "We" on: July 16, 2022, 12:08:57 PM
Let the conspiracies flow.

Satoshi isn't a man. It is an idea. An organisation made of thousands of people. They can see you but you can't see them because satoshi is everywhere and also satoshi don't exist.

Satoshi serves your food, cleans your hotel room, drives you to the airport.

You just don't mess with these guys because you'll never know if there is a satoshi among them.

Yup, that’s worth it. Its been ages now since when crypto is all about transactions, new ideas, projects, trading firms, institutional and individual investment firms and BTC ATM and what not! Nobody cares anymore whose Satoshi Nakomoto or what is Satoshi Nakomoto.

The end result is simple, it worked. The idea behind that man, woman, group or organisation worked and it shook the world we live in!

Doesn’t matter its we or singular.
1580  Other / Meta / Re: How Would You Make Bitcointalk Better If You Were The Boss ? on: July 16, 2022, 04:00:01 AM
As boss I would introduce one of the important feature on bitcointalk forum and that’s (Send) and (Receive) buttons alongside our posts, helpful articles that someone posts, or something unique is done by specific user and we wish to donate them for the hard work.

Besides that, it could work as payment model on the forum. For example, paying out Service Providers on their threads. Like someone is offering Artwork, social media services, or even signature campaigns. One should get button just below their profile pic and be able to send one click money.

To make it far easier I would implement in-built forum wallet to store my bitcoins and be able to send it on one click option.

This would be great help in the lending section also.
Once the transactions started to build up it would show the transferred amount of bitcoin for that particular and which will in turn help clients understand how much worth trust they could have on them.

For example, Dark Star as lender would top the list and can be shown under his profile based on transactions.

All of this in association with building modern forum features. I know many of them will say I can just go through my wallet and send money and shit but think about it as if you are working here and transaction features become way handy.

This might also help escrow service providers.

Being forums leader I would restrict the number of sign ups that happen every 24 hours. This is to avoid junk accounts being created all the time. Though timing wont help much but it would slow down the process at basic level and mods would be able to track down similarities between two accounts on faster route. This is just to keep the forum as clean as it could be.

More for the Forum Members:

As boss I think I must keep forums engagement to high adrenaline! Like I would host more competitions, challenges, and shows which will help forum members to gather and compete and play with it. This is to encourage the members to understand the crypto world since all the completions would be associated with the same.

I would design entire section for the same. Like (Bitcointalk’s Contest). Mods, staff and boss would be the one controlling posts here, I mean creating the topics etc so as to keep everything clean and focused.

So yep, there are endless possibilities to modernise the forum though it is still welcoming as it is today.
