This had me grinning for a minute, he probably still on holiday, as he was with playing on an ambition-less Portland Trailblazers team last season, once he gets back or once training camp gets underway, the work ethic from Lebron would surely be contagious even on Ayton, I'm certain, except he's lost his appetite for trying/winning after the Phoenix Suns came short of the championship some years ago.

But seriously, things are different now with Ayton on a playoff-caliber team, especially the Lakers, the most-watched team in the NBA. All eyes are on him, and a bad performance will get big criticism real quick. LeBron has already proven himself countless times, same with Luka now that he’s with the Lakers, it’s Ayton’s turn to step up, help the Lakers get a good standing, and hopefully make a real championship run this coming season.

They need a big man who can help them inside, though he's not as good as AD in terms of scoring capabilities but his presence inside can help LeBron and Luka, knowing both stars who can throw a good pass inside Ayton just need to always be ready to take a shot, we can't tell yet if he's going to fit with how the Lakers run the game, they've got enough time while still in vacation, those practices that they'll going to conduct will give him hint and overview if what role the team will needs him the most.

Lillard’s not the same as before, we can’t expect him to dominate like he used to.. but what he can still bring is leadership and that connection with the fans. As the team’s franchise player, he can step up as a leader, guide the younger guys, and help set the direction for the team moving forward, maybe they can make it to the playoffs with him.

There have been plenty of great players in NBA history who never won a championship, so that’s nothing new. But then you also have guys who barely see playing time, like Giannis’ brother, yet they still end up with a ring.

It's impossible for the Blazers to even make the play-offs with this roster. I'm sure they'll get fewer wins than last season and end up as a lottery team. They also don't have enough pieces for a proper rebuild. They could stay away from the play-offs for quite a while. Lillard probably won't be back until the end of the season anyway. It'll be more like a farewell tour for him. At his age and after this kind of injury, it's very unlikely he'll come back the same.

Things have gotten a lot worse for Marcus Morris… Las Vegas casinos are now saying he has passed off bad checks in the amount of over a quarter million dollars. This is a lot more serious than initially believed. Marcus Morris could end up doing some serious time over this. I wonder what his brother has to say.

It didn’t seem to pass the sniff test for me either. The Lakers have him on a pretty sweet contract. There’s no reason to trade him before the deadline or even at all. With Luka, DeAndre, & LeBron playing with him, they are really just one piece away from having a monster starting five.

And, Reaves will definitely be playing hard because once that contract is up, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent, and the only way he secures the kind of deal he deserves is if he delivers a great season with the Lakers.

Agreed. There’s no way he’ll get the contract or salary he wants based on his previous performance. He really needs to step it up so teams will be more willing to pay him what he’s asking. That would make negotiations easier for him and his agent. Otherwise, he might end up like Schroder. Statistically though, he’s better than Schroder and he is their third star, after all. If he can just be consistent, especially on offense, he might actually secure the bag. Consistency in offense is one of his keys to getting it.

As per the last update that I read NYK already acquired Jordan Clarkson which also an offensive player, bringing Reaves might ba a questionable move if ever that there's a possibilities about that said rumor trade, and like you said, Laker acquired Ayton and together with Hayes the big man is already decent.

They need Reaves as another offensive option, I understand that Luka and LeBron can bring that but it's always better to have someone who have that same mentality who's not afraid to take his shots,.

Right, most likely he will be inspired to play as this is his last year with that contract. And with the way he plays in the last season, he could be worth more than his current contract. And so to continue with that, he is more motivated as this is the season that they will have Luka in a full blown season. And they have acquired a lot of players too like Ayton to be their starting center and then DFS to add a two way player. And there's not much movement as of late, it seems to be quiet now as most team might have settled their line up except maybe for the Warriors and Kuminga as there are a lot of unconfirmed rumors as well but it's hard to say unless someone really reputable has put the news in public.

I saw a news story about him that said he arrived at the courthouse handcuffed. It seems he was confident he would pay bail and be released to answer the legal proceedings against him. The arguments his lawyers used were too weak, saying he was paying off his debts in Nevada and that if the judge released him, the payment process would be faster. The judge refused his bail. It seems to me he is facing gambling problems.

They say another hearing has been scheduled for the end of August and that his lawyers hope that everything will be resolved before the end of August, maybe he will be able to get out of this situation early.

In Reaves' case, chasing a bigger contract may be justified not only if he improves his skills on offense but also if he avoids serious injury. My point is that neither the Lakers nor any other team will want to overpay for a player who may be out indefinitely due to injury.

I don't understand why a basketball player with a multi-million dollar salary gets involved in such absurd situations. This is a psychological illness; we've seen many professional athletes have run-ins with the police or the courthouse lately. I think players' psychological problems are starting to increase.
Now that he's an NBA player at 35, maybe it's time for him to retire. After serving time in prison, he can resume gambling in Las Vegas
