Reading up on that board, is the 2gig MMC big enough to support the Archlinux install with Minepeon. or will it be running from the SD slot?

MinePeon uses less then a GB in space, it will fit onto the internal eMMC with plenty of room to spare.  Initaly though it is going to run from the SD through most of the pre-release series.

Second, with the sqlite support for stats, can we offload the database to a network drive?

sqlite runs very badly over a mount so that wont be an option HOWEVER it is just a pdo data-source.... MySQL is not out of the question, just running it on an SD card is a colossally bad idea.

Loads of space, I'm running Debian on my BBB, with several versions of cgminer and bfgminer on there, python, stratum_proxy, node.js, miner dashboard, hidapi, all the random packages for compiling, Apache, and there's still 600MB free on the eMMC.

Neil,

Probably answered this before, but haven't seen it in the thread.
Is there a reason you're using Arch vs Debian or other distros as a basis for Minepeon?
Just curious if this was just a purely personal choice or if there are definite advantages for Arch on these devices.

MineForeman when can we expect the release of the new version?

MinePeon -Pi 0.2.5 pr1 (the pr stands for pre release) will be out in exactly 5 hours plus however long it takes for me to upload it.

It was going to be out yesterday but I found a last minute bug that needed addressing.

This first pre release will be to test;-

1. On the fly pool changing from the status screen.

2. New Javascript graphing engine.

3. SQLite engine for stats storage.

4. New wifi configuration (type "sudo wifi-menu")

5. The next versions of bfgminer and cgminer with all that they bring

6. New startup/monitoring method for the miners

There are a lot of other changes under the hood and a lot more to come in this pre release series.  Hopefully we can get them tested and ready for the general populous quickly.

Is there a reason you're using Arch vs Debian or other distros as a basis for Minepeon?

I often get the impression that people think I did this to be mean, but there are a few reasons;-

1. When MinePeon was started (and for quite some time afterwards) raspberian (the debian based distro for the Pi) was very broken when it came to USB support.

2. X and a multiple of packages that hog resources are included as standard in debian based distro's. (BLOAT)

3. systemd instead of SystemV init for process monitoring.

4. The real biggie!  Supported Platforms.  With Raspberian I get;-

Raspberry Pi

With Arch I get;-

OLinuXino, OpenRD, Pogoplug v2 (Pink/Gray), Pogoplug Series 4, Seagate DockStar, Seagate GoFlex Net, Seagate GoFlex Home, SheevaPlug, TonidoPlug, TonidoPlug 2, ZyXEL NSA320, ZyXEL NSA325. Pogoplug v3/Oxnas, Raspberry Pi. Cubieboard 2, Cubieboard, Hackberry, Mele A100, pcDuino, Nitrogen6X, UDOO, Utilite, Wandboard, CuBox, D3Plug, Mirabox, SMILE Plug, ODROID-U2, ODROID-U3, ODROID-X, ODROID-X2, ODROID-U, ODROID-U2 lite, Samsung Chromebook, BeagleBoard, BeagleBoard-xM, BeagleBone, BeagleBone Black, Gumstix Overo, IGEP v2, PandaBoard, ZedBoard, TrimSlice.

Thanks for the explanation... can't wait to see the BBB version (though I'll probably wait until you have the flash-to-eMMC version ready before I'll jump).

well picked up a BBB this evening,  now the hard part,  it was on the way into work. and in the middle of my work week. so at least 12 hours before I get to play with it.

But knowing me if I start playing with it and upgrading the rpi to the latest minepeon  release.

I do get the opportunity to review the Company logo I work for during that time.  of course it is plastered
everywhere at work so.

0.5 Mb/s ..

Biggest problem is that SourceForge keeps disconnecting and corrupting the file.

Hi All,

MinePeon-Pi-0.2.5-pr1.img is about to hit SourceForge ready for your downloading pleasure, you will soon find it here at the top of the list;-

https://sourceforge.net/projects/minepeon/files/release/

This is the first in the pre releases that will eventually become the full release.

It is as stable as I can make it, so I need volunteers to test and report back bugs while I go on to add other features.

This first pre release will be to test;-

1. On the fly pool changing from the status screen.

2. New Javascript graphing engine.

3. SQLite engine for stats storage.

4. New wifi configuration (type "sudo wifi-menu" in ssh)

5. The next versions of bfgminer and cgminer with all that they bring

6. New startup/monitoring method for the miners

Please report back bugs the thread on the MinePeon forums;-

http://minepeon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1281

Lets make this the best build ever!

Neil

P.S PLEASE leave some donation time, as I said to another user in another thread;-

I try not to think about it. 1,591 downloads just in the last week alone according to SourceForge, if 1% of people donated 15 minutes of time I would be a rich man. Perhaps it is me they don't like :p .

Sheep can carry a heavy (up)load but they never go in a straight line or move fast, when you chase them they drop the (pay)load.

Hi Neil

There is a problem with the donation time.

My Pi runs well until the donation time switch over.
When the time comes to switch back to normal pool, my hash rate starts to fall, then continues to fade away until the Pi crashes.
