@Bitcoinorama:
I bought a Cooler Master V1000 80Plus Gold for my November Jupiter.
Is it still ok?
Thanks!
I can't officially recommend that as I've seen the Nov Jupiter pushed higher than 1000w (~1050w), but KnC are still using the Coolermaster v850 to do that, and your PSU is rated at 1000w for 80% load so... I would just get a 1050w or higher- why mess around with 20-30 bucks for the PSU when the miner costs 5k+. Seems silly. I bought it just two days before KnC informed the new feature of the Nov. Jupiter and it is difficult to change and find a good PSU >= 1200W in Vietnam. I would be happy to help you out by shipping you one, but im sure you know how expensive that it. You will probably be fine, I just like margins on margins

Would using two 750W power supplies be feasible to power one Jupiter? They said it should work. That's what I plan to do, just use a couple of $30 supplies. Not sure if I will need to connect their grounds though.

@ Bitcoin 'Oramajust 2 questions if you have a spare minute. 1. The 5-10 day delay for November orders. Is it just one particular part you are waiting for? for example heatsinks ect. or are you waiting on a supplier that has multiple parts for your machine and will need assembly time when the parts arrive. In other words, are KNC ready to ship as soon as these parts arrive? 2. Do you have any news on a possible scrypt FPGA, or is this something that has lost it's appeal to the guys at KNC? I noticed "alpha industries" that claim to be close to a type of scrpyt ASIC that uses off the shelf AMD gpu's. What is your view on this if (a big if) it's genuine? PS don't let the trolls get you down, so far so good with KNC! they are light years ahead of the competition in terms of customer service and product delivery.

Not sure if I will need to connect their grounds though. I know you need 12v on the controller board for the two front fans, don't know if it's used there otherwise. Driving my one module with a 12 volt supply and a BBB wall wart to the 4 pin molex, I ran 12v from the PCI-e plug to the 4 pin molex but not the ground as assuming the ground between the module and the controller board/BBB were connected via the ribbon data cable and I'd avoid a ground loop, but the module wouldn't communicate. I then ran a ground from the PCI-e in addition to the 12v and everything was hunky-dory. My first attempt was so as to avoid ground loops as ground loops can allow spurious oscillations, noise. I would say tie the extra 12v supply ground in to one of the 4 pin molex grounds in addition to it going to the new module.

No problem. There's nothing critical delaying anything, but there were a few crucial design iterations to make that had to be mutually agreed upon. Marcus always said production would start mid-November, I always stated production would start mid-November as Marcus is in charge of production. Sam took that to mean delivery apparently. There' no issue with parts, just the guys developing the final revision (hardware, and software) wanted to optimize it further, so it's more ongoing performance improvements. The PCBs were sent for production the week before last (if you count today, Sunday as the beginning of week as I do, and not Monday). That's pretty much when the final design had to actually be chosen as it's pretty much in cement now as the board layout was ordered and are now being made. In any case it's not anything to worry about these are the ASICS sans margins that were there to get the device hashing first time. That said these run hotter and noisier, so as long as you're not located in the southern hemisphere you'll welcome the additional warmth.
It's not lost it's appeal, it's just, and that Payonix scam is a great example impossible to run simultaneously to this at this current moment in time. We can't afford to split the team and manage two entirely unrelated product offerings. The Bitcoin ASICs require the undivided currently. That said we've discussed various ways of tackling the alt-coin miner with a variety of really creative solutions you wouldn't expect, but the value it brings to you w.r.t. to the cost to manufacture and sell is not there yet with Litecoin. FPGAs are pricey per unit, and the approach we have considered is novel to say the least. In any event this irrelevant as there just aren't the minds free to devote to that project currently and KnC as presently KnC are hiring engineers for the Bitcoin projects currently. We've had three more guys join the team this week alone, including one welcome surprise for you guys entry I had a hand in, who will be joining us in the coming months, but for now i'm remaining tight lipped. He's a v.smart guy though, and gels well with the team! PS don't let the trolls get you down, so far so good with KNC! they are light years ahead of the competition in terms of customer service and product delivery.
I don't, I'm just curious to their agenda, prior to joining KnC I never used the ignore button, I do now.

Now the KNC units have been properly tuned ( i use to see over 400 on my kill-a-watt for a Saturn on 0.90 and now see barely 250), do you guys think we can use a CX600 PSU for a saturn with 4 boards, in other words a Jupiter ?
No.

Seeing as this one will be bombed anyways... probably needs to be self moderated For that sure, I love what btc_uzr has done with the new updates, that's clearly helpful for all, so if you want to maintain the one you are suggesting i'll cherry pick what needs to be approached. I have mapped out a trouble shooting flowchart that better diagnoses the issues you can come across w.r.t. the miner. I'm waiting for one of the back-end webdevs to have some free-time to run with it and make a java app so basically you follow a sequence of say testing modules one by one and the resulting solution either has you fix the issue or quoting a code to cust serv so if frees up their time, and any confusion your side. It was frustrating to say the least observing both sides as issues popped up and each party was learning what they could be, so I cam up with this as a means to take the load of customer support and brief you better on possible quick fixes to save you the hassle of unnecessary RMAs. I'll be adding a tonne of stuff to the site once the new site is up, that will be in 6 weeks min though. These coming weeks will be mad busy, and i've a tonne of traveling to do for KnC at the end of the month, beg December...

No. Possibly dependent on the firmware, but it's bronze rated and i wouldn't you'd be redlining more than I'd be comfortable with. Get a Coolermaster V850 they aren't expensive and they are by far the most widely used for the Jupiters.
