PCBs are a little more specialized in their design than bricks.

If I read steamboats post right, refunds for parts will not be offered -- but will attempt to be resold? Why wouldn't the parts be shipped to whoever purchased them if there is no refund? Customer pays for parts that the supplier keeps?

First, steamboat hasn't finalized anything right? Second, I think this would be optional; obviously some people are still going to want chips & boards.

anybody know if steamboat is taking PMs or how we should go about getting chip refunds? I have PMed him but no reply back but I assume hes swamped after he let everyone know that he was planning a refund,
thank you, sad to see it come down to this but batch 3-5 probably will never see ROI,

Just got an email from Avalon, to complicate things, looks like only Batches 1-4 are eligible for refunds:
Avalon ASIC Chips Delivery Update, September Edition
Due to events outside of our control, the delivery of chips have been delayed so far. While the situation are improving and chips are shipping, we have ultimately decided to revert our policy on no refunds and offer the option for customers to request a full refund(in bitcoin) if so desired.
The link to the request form is below, please note this only applies to orders made earlier than June 1st.
In other news, for those who decided to wait or wish to know more about delivery schedule will be glad to note we are receiving a batch of 400,000+ chips on Wednesday, with that we expect to be in good shape for meeting the upcoming deadlines of chip deliveries for orders made in June and later.
In addition, we hope to wrap up generation one, finish shipping the chips, construct the modules and build the 2 module Avalon mini, put this pre-order mess behind us in general and switch gear into 55nm production, tape out generation 3, and start work on improving chip design for generation 4. Only sell what we can produce in a day on the assembly line, and only what's in stock.

So, 40 batches of 10k chips....
Where does that put us? Who's got that handy dandy spreadsheet?
Might actually be good news for a change??
Poor us and Steamboat. Being jerked around like puppets on a string.

Yep, that's gonna complicate things alright! This will certainly create a lot of questions. BTW, if the chip delivery window is 8-10 weeks, aren't the June 1st orders ALREADY late too? How are they gonna be "meeting the upcoming deadlines of chip deliveries for orders made in June and later" if the early June orders are already late?

On man, what a PITA. I'm in batch 5 and am not sure what I want to do yet. I assume there will be some folks in batches 1 to 4 who do want to keep their chips, so hopefully SB can come up with a plan that let's folks move around between the batches. What a logistic nightmare, although if anyone can handle it I think it would be SB.
And yeah, batch 5 chips are most definitely already late. I am very curious how Yifu is going to compensate for the late chips given he isn't offering refunds. My guess is he hope she can get away without any compensation. However, I hope the group buy leaders make it know to him that isn't the case.

Yifu posted: form says 15th, typo in the newsletter. I think half a week late is pretty good, if chips arrives on wednesday and we send them out no? if they do not arrive we'll work out something else. so he had June 1st in the email he sent but is apparently accepting refunds up to June 15th. Based on that, batch 5 is eligible for a refund, but not batch 6 (yet).

I'm also in batch 5 and I did submit a refund vote. I insist for a refund because this batch is late and under the no bullshit clause we have a right to refuse a depreciated product. No way I'm going to accept such a delay.

At this point, I bet you 1-3 batches of chips will show up on Steamboat's doorstep at some point this coming week, further complicating the whole refund deal.
He would have to ship them back at his/ours expense.
I'd rather he build the darned things, even if they are 8 weeks late. Hell, I've got 15 btc just in assembly costs that I don't really want to piss away.
If you wait for Bitfury, KnC, or any other miner with "October" delivery, God only knows when they'll ship.
At least if I start hashing by middle of September, I'll get some ROI back anyway.

I also really dont know what to do. I want to sell it and I want to keep it. I am in EU and will pay 25% VAT on order. Damn. I can imagine how Steve feel....we should stick together and find a best scenario. I know that emotion does not have in any business but still....
Steve, please update us (and hang on).

Something tells me he noticed his "TYPO" after it was repeatedly pointed out on this forum that they had already missed the June 1st order deadlines... or is the "June 15st" date the "typo"? My belief is Steamboat is not going to give out info prematurely,he's weighing his/our options very carefully & will only post when he has something concrete to announce. So be patient,please.......
