Wow, we get an amazing spree of good luck and my shift work is in the toilet due to a DDoS, which leaves me wondering if that is a coincidence or not.

I know it has been debunked that restarting the bitcoind improves luck, but the circumstantial evidence looks good to me !

That's only superstition. Besides, bitcoind wasn't restarted. Smiley

Sorry for the instability issues right now. I've found two weaknesses that can cause very high CPU and memory usage on the server when ddos attackers are pounding it the way they are lately. I'm working on fixing both now and will deploy the fixes ASAP. That means you'll be disconnected one more time for the update, without a maintenance time announced ahead of time, but this has to go in quickly to make the service more stable.

More to follow as the fix is deployed.

Well... that explains why my hash rate has dropped today and I have had connection issues off and on.  Thanks for keeping us up to date.  Very new to BitMinter and bitcoin in general.  After trying to configure GUIminer for another pool unsuccessfully I found your site and was up and running in a few minutes!  Thanks, absolutely love it!  So far I think you are awesome!  Now I just need more power!  Wish I had found you 3 years ago when I first started looking at bitcoin.  I had a 5970 ready to go, but I get Cluster Headaches (Think day long migraine packed into 30 minutes to 2 hours and repeat up to 10 times a day.  clusterheadaches.com if you are curious) and they ramped up about then and I was good for nothing for a long time.  They have finally slowed down and now I'm trying to get up and running and wishing I had plowed through the pain and done it years ago.

Thanks again for a great service!

Looking for donations for a poor disabled guy to get a mining rig.  Long sad story that boils down to Cluster headaches- think a day long migraine packed into a half hour to 2 hours and repeat up to 10 times a day.  And my insurance company screwed me over to the tune of $50k when I had a plumbing problem flood my house, destroyed tons of my stuff including several computers.  Total loss, about $50k  Beware the red umbrella.  Any little bit of help is greatly appreciated.  I have fairly low power rates... so if you have an old miner that you want to donate I would be very grateful.  Contact me and I'll get you an address.

I seem to be having abnormally bad shifts every 5-8 hours for the past couple of days.  This means my rolling 10 shift average is always being damaged by at least one but sometimes more of these abnormally low shifts.  I assume I am being disconnected for some portion of these low shifts but haven't seen it actually happening.  Is this related to the botnet DDOS conversation?  If so can I get my IP whitelisted?  My public IP for my miners doesn't ever change.

Hi again,

My system just popped up a "Bad Credentials" warning and shows my log in screen but it won't let me log in.  My wife's computer is still mining just fine on the same account.  I've seen that message pop up on her machine a few times in the last few days but it's always worked again as soon as I hit the "proceed" button.  That isn't working for me.  Any ideas?

I'm up to .00025 BTC!  Shocked  Been mining a little over a week now.  So if bitcoin goes to $1 million I'll have 250 bucks!  Damn I wish I had started 3 years ago when I started looking into it.  Stupid headaches melting my brain.

hmmm... well, I hit proceed again and it cleared, so I hope that means It's working again.  The client looks like it is mining, but my hash rate on the stats page is down still sitting at around .5  which is what I showed the other day when only my wife's machine and another older PC I have in the other older PC I have in the house and mine wasn't really contributing.  That was happening the other day when you were having issues.  I later found that my system wasn't contributing, I re-loaded the program, but that didn't help.  Ultimately I had to re-boot my computer to get it to start mining again.  Even though the client was saying I was connected and doing around 400 Mhps.

Any idea what's going on?

Are you using F-Secure antivirus? It likes to block access to the mining server and causes that to happen. You'll need to whitelist the app/pool with F-Secure for it to work reliably.

Well it seems to be working OK again.  But still wondering why it happens.

I'm using Microsoft Security essentials as my anti-virus software.  Windows 7 pro.  I downloaded the Java from your link on the site when I set up to mine a little over a week ago, so it should be up to date.  I've had this happen on all 3 computers I'm using to mine.  2 are windows 7 one is windows 8.1.  Absolutely love your service by the way.  Was super easy to set up and get mining, really wish I had found it 3 years ago.  This problem is intermittent and really just a minor irritation so far, it's not as if I'm mining fast enough to have it significantly affect my income or anything.  Tongue  Thanks so much for your help.

Oh, and my log in on bitminter is Korxax too if that helps you track down what's going on.  I gave each machine a worker name, but haven't set up workers on the site yet.  Kestral is my main machine that had the most recent problem, it has a 6970 in it. Eagle is my wife's machine it has a NVidia 560ti special edition with 448 cores.  And loon is a Machine my Brother in law used to use and left here for when we play multi-player games together, it has a 5970 in it.  Don't know if any of that helps, but worth a shot.

Oh, and my log in on bitminter is Korxax too if that helps you track down what's going on.

After some investigating, I discovered an obscure bug. If you have two or more client instances connecting with different worker names that don't exist (resulting in the default worker being used), plus you have some bad luck with timing, then it can happen that one gets accepted and another one is rejected.

Workaround for now, either use blank worker name on all of them, or create the workers with those names.

This will be fixed in the next mining service update. Sorry for the trouble.

Your pool is down again, my Avy's just switched over to my backup pool, and my USB ASIC's have stopped mining all together.

Please investigate, thanks.
