If OT trades tokens how can it exchange tokens into fiat? Or is he then also referring to dUSD dJPY etc and it's a matter of agreement between buyer and seller whether thay perceive that dUSD or dJPYto have equal exchange value against something as a USD would have?
Take that up with the fiat authorities, me I don't touch the stuff as I said it is impractical to even try. -MarkM-

I did some digging into why devcoin's difficulty is increasing so much. Vircurex says the hash rate is around 6thash. A list of recent devcoin coinbase are: "5b323031332d30362d30325431333a33313a33362e3436323531375a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "04c02d151a010152" "5b323031332d30362d30325431333a34313a35382e3432353934345a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "04ca0f151a010152" "5b323031332d30362d30325431343a31363a32332e3439373238385a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "5b323031332d30362d30325431343a33313a32332e3533303138385a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "049aec141a010152" "5b323031332d30362d30325431343a35383a34352e3234303439385a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "044cee141a010152" "5b323031332d30362d30325431353a30363a34392e3439373934395a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "5b323031332d30362d30325431353a31313a35362e3631323439335a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "5b323031332d30362d30325431353a32303a35372e3139303232355a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "5b323031332d30362d30325431353a32323a31352e3234383030325a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "5b323031332d30362d30325431353a33303a34382e3435303432395a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61" "5b323031332d30362d30325431353a33353a30342e3630353339305a5d20e4b8ade59c8be8a3bde980a0204d61646520696e204368696e61"
Eleven out of those 15 are the long coinbase which contains the string "Made in China" when translated to ASCII. This appears to be a bitcoin pool that is currently only identified by the string in the coinbase. An example of a bitcoin block of theirs. I assume from the coinbase string these are the same miners. Looks like they have a substantial hash rate! They could also be the ones dumping coins. Maybe some of the ASIC makers are finally using p2pool to set up merged mining instead of wasting all their ASICs on bitcoin alone? -MarkM-

Is it possible to get devcoins for original art? While I like to write, my primary creative skill is photography.
I can see that there might be problems with accepting photos. While even the lowest quality writing takes time and effort, it takes no effort to snap a random picture. Maybe the photos could be curated. Also, plagiarism is easy. Tineye might cut down on that problem.
Another solution might be to set up some kind of presence on sites like Flickr or DeviantArt, or maybe scan the sites for images with devcoin tags and addresses. This kind of solution could be extended to music and video, too.

I just got this from LPP: On the open source, I think if there was Kickstarter or similar around when we were looking at pursuing the research as a nonprofit, it would have been a very good route. Now we're a bit locked in with our investors, but the company intends to make licenses available to nonprofits that would distribute the tech where it otherwise would be out of reach.

This is a very good question I'm also unclear as to when round 23 payout begins and when the cutoff for writing for round 24 is applied.

Do they list the address on their site? According to Derek Shannon they acutaly work on a re-design of there homepage. The designer is informed to publish the BTC and DVC addresses: We are about to launch a website re-design, so I am sharing with our web developer Ivy your suggestion that we include upfront information for folks who'd like to donate Meanwhile i publish what i got from Derek here: LPP addresses: BTC: 1B8VsBRfh786RXQUzwQsX8Cju7CHVgEuZY DVC: 1JJLXvZ9FX8zA8vvBNFtpAr8KBD2mRGi5G My donations in DVC was confirmed trough Derek: Meanwhile.....Our Devcoin wallet seems to have magically fattened just now, THANKS!

Does that include the 1,000 block which gets added on at the end of every round, so then block 95,000? Thanks in advance.

You upload it to an image hosting site like imgur or tinypic, then it will give you a link for image boards and forums. It will look like this without the **'s [*IMG]http://i41.tinypic.com/2uyj7lz.png[/*IMG] And when pasted without the stars will work like this. That is a HORRIBLE idea! We need to own the image, that is, have a copy of it ourselves, not depend on some third party site. -MarkM- It wasn't an 'idea' rather it was just the only way I know to host images on devtome.com. I am not aware that devtome.com has its own image hosting service.

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=start&tab_files=files&tab_details=view&do=media&ns=(I found it by clicking media on the front page's menu (on the left of the front page), I think...) The problem I have with it though is the syntax page about how to edit pages does not say how to refer to these built in images, instead of assumes you want to refer to an image on a third party site. I would expect there is some syntax that automatically uses the namespaces the image galleries use, so that one does not need to use some kind of "absolute path" or "absolute URL" but can just do like root:myimage.jpg or some such thing. I haven't discovered how to do that yet though. -MarkM-

I agree this is a bad way to do it as those sites may not be around forever and it's simply a good idea, like you said, for us (devtome) to own the images. I'm not sure if something like this can be easily fixed or not but it would be nice as most are having problems figuring out how to post pictures to their articles.

Well they are on devtome somewhere, so if using an absolute path/URL to say exactly where is the only way I guess that is what we will have to do.
That is, find out where the heck devtome actually puts them, and then refer to them there just like referring to images on other sites.
Its a crappy way to reference them since they supposedly are in namespaces, but at least they are on our site not some third party site.
Maybe namespaces have to be activated in config or admin section or something to enable them or something...
