Protect him from what? He's on a three fight losing streak and drops out of half his fights  Cheesy. It's probably more that he doesn't want to fight him. I think Connor would be a good match up for both of them given they're both past their prime. I think it would be pretty evenly matched and a fair fight for both of them.

I have watched recently Dana White's post fight interview and he said that Poirier probably will face Oliveira somewhere about in December, and the war between Conor and Poirier has not finished yet. Because none of the fighters got KO'ed and the fight ended with first round injury.

I think that Poirier is able to beat Oliveira. And later there will be Poirier vs Conor 4 fight for the title. Imagine how much PPV will bring this time! How's that for a long term/big profit plan from Data ? Cheesy And such thing would most likely happen, as UFC is more about money, than sport.

Connor shouldn't get a title shot on his first fight back. I'm not sure Poirier will beat Oliveria but if he does or doesn't they could probably get in a rematch before Connor is ready to come back, if he even comes back. According to Dana he has chronic arthritis in his ankles (which I'm not sure why they're only telling everyone about this now - seems a bit suss):

Quote
In a recent interview with Fox News, White said that McGregor’s issues were indeed known before his loss at UFC 264 and said that McGregor requested permission from Nevada officials to tape up his ankles for the Poirier fight, but ultimately decided against it.

“He’s had ankle issues for the last couple of years, and he had asked if he could tape his ankles coming into this fight and he got clearance to do it from the Nevada state athletic commission,” White told Fox News, “and then he opted not to tape them. I don’t know why.

“But yeah, he has chronic arthritis in his ankles.”

https://www.mmafighting.com/2021/7/19/22584405/dana-white-says-conor-mcgregor-has-chronic-arthritis-requested-permission-to-tape-ankles-at-ufc-264

The rematch with Poirier does make sense to everyone involved as it's huge paydays all around and they'll hype it up as unresolved business/bad blood. IF Connor does indeed have arthritis then I'm not sure how he can continue fighting. Those ankles are going to be a target for anyone he fights now. Might be best he sticks to boxing to be honest.

^  Doubt it unless Dillashaw it still on the juice which I doubt cos USADA will be all over him in his return.  But we’ll see.  The wrestling is gonna be a huge factor for Dillashaw if he decides to use it.  He used to be more wrestling heavy when he came in the UFC.  And Sandhagen’s isn’t all that good at 30%.

Check it out here:  http://www.ufcstats.com/fighter-details/65f09bacd3957381

Well you are right Cory Sandhagen has lost by a rear-naked choked by Funk Master Aljamain Sterling, well Sandhagen will be in big trouble with dudes that are using submission moves or wrestling, and I have never seen Sandhagen if he has good takedown defense, and with Dillashaw's return maybe Cory Sandhagen is the best match for him, but I still need to see how T.J. Dillashaw can perform, and that USADA kind of medicine can still act up in his performance but let's just wait.

Lets take a look at next UFC main event Cory Sandhagen vs T.J. Dillashaw, because I am not really interested in any other fight from this fight card.
On paper Sandhagen looks like a favorite to win here and even bookmakers odds are showing that giving him role of big favorite.
He has only two defeats from Aljamain Sterling (fake champ) and Jamall Emmers (back in 2017), and he has 3 inch reach advantage.
When I look at other stats they are both similar in striking but Dillashaw have better takedown defense.
In my opinion this fight won't be easy win as odds suggest, I would give 50% win for both fighters, and we need to see how Dillashaw reacts after big break.

Islam Makhachev looks like he's going to dominate the division and will probably take Khabib's crown. I could see him fighting McGregor in the future as he's expressed interest in finishing what Khabib started and the UFC can bill that as a big grudge match but I don't think Connor will be any match for him unless he drastically improves.
I've never even considered this as a possibility. That would be an interesting bout, especially since you know that Dana, and the UFC will be pushing that Khabib will want revenge if Conor manages to beat Makhachev. I'm not sure Conor would still be as relevant as he is now by the time Makhachev gets that title shot, though.

UFC ranking has been updated and Islam Makhachev is now top5. Finally ! Finally Tony Ferguson has been moved a bit down (no offence Tony fans, but he has 3 straight losses and was in top5...) and Rafael Dos Anjos.

I think that this is going to be like this: Oliveira will fight Poirier and Poirier will win, Makhachev will fight Chandler (I think he is the weakest in top1-4) and wait (probably for a year) when Poirier will have another fight with McGregor and win. Then Poirier will either win Makhachev and defend title several times, or Makhachev will win and there will another boring-blanket champ, who will submit most of his opponent like Khabib.

What a card. Sandhagen is a personal favorite, but that's going to be a close match up. Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Chris Daukaus is going to be a proper good fight too, with Daukaus probably coming up on top. I feel like this card is going to have a lot of finishes, and my accumulator will be reflecting that. Randy Costa vs. Adrian Yanez  is going to be a straight up war, and I think it might actually go the distance with both guys taking an absolute beating.

WOW! this is a great card, right here, Sandhagen and Dillashaw are going against one another that is about what I need to see, I surely like Sandhagen here but Dillashaw still has something to offer, but I will surely decide when I check their stats and recent fights and the odds first, well this event will surely have a lot of finishes indeed, there are a lot of heavy hitters, I will surely check-up each and every one of them first just to be sure and I am expecting a good odds in stake.com to surely help with my picks.

The biggest problem is that Dillashaw has no recent fights as he was suspended and before that, he had a loss to Cejudo, so it will be interesting to see what his mental state will be, or if he's still a threat in that division. So there's not much point in speculating because we don't know what kind of Dillashaw we will get.

yup! from Dillashaw's last defeat against Cejudo that was from January 2019 I think this really hit him hard and add it up with the Pandemic, Let's see how T.J. Dillashaw can really coup up with it and Cory Sandhagen is a strong individual right now after that win against Frankie Edgar with a flying knee, I really like Sandhagen here but apparently, Dillashaw might preparing for his return since 2019 I really need to see his pictures on training and maybe he becomes bulkier now just like what Miesha Tate did, because even though he had rested on UFC for 2 years he may be training this whole time aiming to be on top again, but I am not comparing his to Tate I am just comparing what Tate did in a couple of years on vacation from the action have motivated her from coming back.

I get it when it's a vacation like Tate had, but this seems mentally diferent tbh, and preparing for a return and preparing for a specific fighter might not be the same.

Hey hey now, Dillashaw is definitely still on the juice, he even has his own juice place https://www.livingmma.com/news/tj-dillashaw-opens-juice-bar-called-clean-juice-in-southern-california.

Can I just say how much I love the irony in this?

I don't know. Oliveria is very good on the ground, and that's where I expect this fight to go. I mean, Poirier is also a black belt, but I do think that Oliveria has got Poirer's  number on the mat. On the feet, Poirier wins all day for me. Dustin is probably the more rounded fighter, but Oliveria definitely has incredible grappling, and submissions. He also appears to be significantly stronger than most hes faced in the division.

Submissions boring? I love me some submissions. There's nothing better than a fight that has the stand up for a round or two, and then the rest of it some competitive grappling.

But it is still a likely motivation to get suspended and all and even lost a fight, to regain trust and doubt in his fans, they sure not the same but what Dillashaw really wants to return that badly that he is willing to take all of that in this fight, we can really never know until we see them fight, but still I really like Cory Sandhagen but I still haven't pick yet on who I might pick, I am waiting for major news and some training regimen for both camp, to decide.

Competitive grappling is good, but I dont like when fighters use ground/wrestling to kill the time till round ends or to rest (when both fighters show little activity).

I remember when Poirier got Khabibs head and tried to choke him (to bad he managed to catch only the head, but not head with arm, otherwise Khabib would have little chances to sneak out). As he managed to catch such a master of wrestling, that might prove that Poirier is not a newbie grappling. That is why I would not say that "if the fight will be on the feet - Poirier wins, if on the ground - Oliveira wins".

Ey guys..  Just dropping by to post these vids.  I can’t wait for this event!

And btw..  Phillips vs Paiva will be at 135 lbs.  Paiva will be moving up in weight so that means no more problems with weight cutting for him.  He usually slows down at 125 prolly cos he was fighting at the wrong weight class.  Skill for skill Phillips and Paiva should be the same.  The line should be closer imho.  Paiva is lined at 3.2.  Lol.

This is probably the closest Khabib ever came to losing too, at least off the top of my head it is. I do believe there's an interview where he says he was a little worried at the time. Poirier isn't no one to mess about with on the ground, I just know Oliveria specialized in that department. Anyone can get caught though, and Khabib very nearly did, and of course anything can happen on the day. I feel Poirier needs to keep it standing for the best success though, that's clearly where he dominated over Oliveria.

Lightweight category is for sure very interesting now and I think that fighters under Khabib wings will rule this category in future, he is training with them all the time and giving them advices in and out of octagon.
Islam Makhachev is now ranked number 5 and I expect to see him fighting for title in next year, but competition is very good with champion Oliveiora, Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje and maybe even Beneil Dariush.

I don't think Dariush is a title challenging, and nor do I think he belongs in the same sentence as Dustin, Justin, and Oliveria. Though, the Lightweight category has always been fairly stacked, its nice to know that Makhachev could potentially replace Khabib's departure. Don't get it confused, I think Khabib was much better, but we needed two really good submission artists to shake up the division a little.

Listen to all fighters pre-fight interviews for upcoming UFC event Cory Sandhagen vs TJ Dillashaw:
https://youtu.be/uyBFCmpuKF0

Dillashaw looks really good...  Even better than before he was caught using EPO.  I think he’s disrespected with the line at 2.70.  It should be closer imho.  I mean yeah I guess the lean is Sandhagen but it feels like there’s value in Dillashaw at 2.70.

And here’s the Multi Master Challenge.  Always nice to play to try and win some free bets.

Edit:  That Elkins line looks good too.

I can't remember a single Name that could shake up the division ... maybe it's because there really aren't any worthy candidates right now, or maybe because the UFC has gone from being a hardcore sports organization to a Broadway show. In any case, I hope Dariusz will smear his opponent, lowering him to the bottom lines of the rating (I still don't understand how he took 5th place if he never fought with the UFC stars). Although on the other hand, if Makhachev becomes the champion and there is someone who will take the newly acquired title from him, then we can expect the return of Khabib.

I'm not sure I agree with you that the UFC is becoming a broadway show, I mean its probably one of the most brutal sports around. I would say that boxing is starting to really go down the drain recently, and that's not even because of the Youtubers that have been joining in on the fun. 155 must be one of the most stacked divisions also, there top 10 is of amazing quality, its just the top 4 are particularly good.

It is amazing that Sporstbet is still doing this competition for forum members, so I just placed my predictions in Sportsbet multimaster topic, and crossed my fingers.
There are some odds I don't understand on this card and we may see many surprises, but honestly I never watched some of the fighters in octagon.

I'll aim to get my predictions up tomorrow evening. I'll probably be siding with the favourites in the majority of the matches, which I never feel comfortable about doing.

I'm predicting this event to have a lot of KO's. Cory Sandhagen VS Darren Till is surely going to have one, I just don't know which way it'll go.

Well, probably neither way as Till and Sandhagen aren't fighting each other Cheesy Till is 3 weight classes above him and is not fighting on the card. But the Dillashaw / Sandhagen fight could produce a KO either way, but I think it could be in the latter rounds.
