Might be true. McGregor is one of the UFC's top five most-viewed PPV fights so it makes sense that he will receive more and the gap is really large. And I agree with some analysts that without McGregor, Poirier wouldn’t even be making 1m a fight.

Anyways, no official source about how much exactly they made. Maybe in the following days, related information about it will be released.

People retire with the age of 60 without $20M. Its definitely worth the fight fod Mcgregor. its said he had done a lot for the sport.
He wouldn't be the same fighter anymore after this.

I wouldn't expect him to fight again. He wouldn't want to see himself end up like the old athletes who retirs with so much loss.

He is blessed to earn that big amount, but remember everyone has their standing way of living, McGregor's standard way of living might be expensive and if he doesn't know how to handle his money, he might end up bankrupt and worst will become homeless. I've read a lot of stories about a player who made multimillion deals but indeed up with nothing, and I believe it could happen to anyone if we are not financially literate.

I don't know if it's already been posted, but Crypto.com has signed a (what I think is a very large) advertising deal with the UFC.

Is there so much money involved in this combat sport that it is profitable for Crypto.com? The UFC several such large sponsorship deals?

I think it was weird for me that he had such a ridiculous injury.
Kick is actually a risky move as you can block it (unprotected) with your stronger body. I remember blocking a kick with my elbow and the dude screaming in pain, but it didn't break his ankle, of course. Considering how powerful Conor's kick was, I'm not really surprised.

Blocking with knee also can do damage to the opponent, but it may hurt you as well (knee injury sucks). It's just a mixture of Conor's stupidity, his bad luck, and Poirier's good luck. He will retire and fight the likes of Logan/Jake Paul.

I remember how during a school fight my forehead broke guys ring and little fingers (or knuckles)  Grin I was loosing that fight the guy stupidly hit me in the forehead. He screamed like pig and I gave him several face punches. Anyway, it was counted as a “loss” for me.
P.S. I had lost all the school fights  Cheesy

Ryan Hall VS Ilia Topuria

I think Ryan Hall is an open book for Topuria, the fight was way easy for him and Ilia Topuria didn't need to use all of his tools for Hall, But I haven't really seen this coming that the wizard Ryan Hall has become a redundant fighter, always doing the Imanari Roll but Ilia Topuria is seeing all of the things he might do, Don't get me wrong I am on Ryan Hall at first when I have seen that he is going back to UFC because I would like to see another leg lock and how the wizard is doing it without fail, but after researching Ilia Topuria and looking on Topuria's previous matches I have seen that Topuria have plenty of things technically that Ryan Hall doesn't have, that is why Ilia Topuria have fight patiently and wisely against Hall.

Hall is an open book to most of the modern MMA fighters. He will still be able to beat people, sure, but those have to be outside the top 10 imho. The fighting game caught up with his fighting style and he really didn't evolve to compensate. Not really room for him to go anywhere in the UFC at the moment...other organizations, maybe...

I am totally excited when Ryan Hall returns but after seeing his opponents records, stats, and the way he fights I surely dig deep in researching Ilia Topuria on his previous fights and even some predictions on the internet and they are all saying the same, even the odds are against Hall that is why instead of betting for Ryan Hall, I have switched my bet to Topuria, But after seeing their fight I think Ryan Hall needs to change his game, but he keeps on doing that Imanary roll, over and over but with no success, because Topuria already knows what Hall is trying to do,

Crypto.com com invested crazy amount of money in so many sports including UFC and Formula One, so I hope it benefits both sides and promoted Bitcoin and crypto to more people.
I think this kits are going to be used only for UFC pay-per-view events and for Dana White’s Contender Series, but 10 year deal is amazing.
I didn't pay attention during UFC264 main event but it looks like Connor and Dustin both had them, upper and lower part.

Is this true?

I guess McGregor would still be happy because he made $20M in this fight, though he loses if he will heal soon then he can make a fight because he is still popular. Some say he is over, well, let's wait until McGregor would announce that.
That's hefty amount for a lose but I don't know if that's a fact. What if he has won that match? there's gotta be more with the amount.

I've watched the news that Dustin is still open to fight again Conor for the nth time if he gets healed and I think Dana White is okay with that.

Yes, Dustin Poirier came out in that T-shirt to fight Conor McGregor.

I also like this T-shirt. The inscription is very clear and I am sure that everyone who watched this fight saw it.
I wonder how much this ad cost for Crypto.com, but it was definitely a huge sum. I suspect this ad is a form of investment and the owners of Crypto.com are hoping to get back costs of it in the future.

Ryan Hall is a fighter who surprised me with his wins as he always fights as an underdog and ends up winning and he is really great on the ground but if he keeps on doing the same thing, people are smart enough to study their game plan and the game plan and understanding the opponents weakness is part of the game and Ryan Hall was trying something which was predictable and he was not able to find any rhythm  in the fight.

And someone is very happy that Conor lost:

$50k bet and win $35k.

https://twitter.com/ESPNRingside/status/1414117002516393985

I don't think that Conor's career will be over, for sure he will come back and probably get an easy fight first. But he is already on the downside of his career, might be just fighting for the money because he is still the cash cow win or lose.
Yes that's a pretty big bet but I think it's a real one because he's a real gambler and he isn't called Floyd Money Mayweather for nothing.

Anyway markets are already open for the next Fight Night, UFC on ESPN 26 and Islam Makhachev is the huge favorite with very low odds at Stake for him : @1.17 vs @6.00 for Thiago Moises.
For the co-main event Marion Reneau vs Miesha Tate, odds are more tight @2.17 vs @1.79 so I see more value there, Marion Reneau is 44 years old, has pretty poor record (9-7-1) and is in a 4 matches losing streak.

So I think I will bet on Miesha, and praying for a KO from Islam Makhachev to at least getting the double winnings bonus for this bet because I don't see much value in his odds.

I won't bet as much money as Mayweather but I'm pretty confident in being right for at least one of these 2 outcomes.

Conor tried to kick Dustin during staredown with left leg. During the fight his ankle broke down. Isnt that a proof that karma exist?
Im sure that this is it with Conor. With each fight he looked worse and worse. I think that he will retire. When he heals his injury, it will take time and no one will give him top contenders anymore.

haha yes really karma says it's not over yet mcgregor yes we shouldn't underestimate he is a really good fighter, he continues training from where he left off after he gets better. He got too excited, I think it was weird for me that he had such a ridiculous injury. But I don't think he will catch dustin after that, at least 1 tko against dustin.

During the interview just after Dustin declared as the winner, he said Conor is a dirtbag, he meant a lot because he knows the attitude of Conor. If you'll ask me, I think Conor deserves that loss because Dustin is a great fighter, and just like what Khabib to him, he punished those who disrespect him.

Conor is the most disrespectful fighter I know, maybe even outside the sports as there are a lot of reports where he is involved in something that destroys his reputation.

Now let's just understand we are talking about two people that are trying to hurt one another in the ring or cage. I am not sure why any of them should be super respectful? That quasi eastern tradition of respect in martial arts is falsely propagated to MMA by Brazilian fighters that somehow got that twisted when it came from Asia. There is someone that literally gave you brain damage from a blow to your head, how is that less respectful than talking some smack? We need to lay off the whole respect propaganda in this sport, no one really cares.

Damn it ... McGregor broke his leg, the fracture looks very serious in the photographs. [I just don't have enough words]. But I think Conor was lucky ... it could have been even worse, (an open fracture would definitely put an end to his career). Although, by and large, nothing else will shine for him except for demonstration fights, since the upcoming year-long break in his career cannot be shortened by the best surgery or special hormones.

These MMA fighters should have a shin conditioning regiment similar to Thai boxers. We cannot expect these type of injuries to stop in the octagon if the fighters have not done the proper conditioning. Conor’s shin was not hard enough for execution of that type of technique.

You can strengthen your muscles but nobody can stop their bones snapping regardless of how much conditioning they do. Sometimes people are just unlucky.

Who's watching Dustin Poirier VS Conor McGregor ? a little disappointed, fight had to stop when McGregor injured his leg and Poirier as the winner
I think this fight will be repeated next year or in the near future because it's unsatisfactory can't watch the actual fight.

I don't think anyone can recover from that kind of injury so quickly because they both damaged their physical and mental health due to the pain they suffered and also it will take a long therapy to be able to get back to his normal self. so for now, I guess we can count McGregor out in the league. Damn! it would have been a nice fight and unfortunately, the ending wasn't expected by everyone but that's just how it goes where sometimes we cannot expect what will gonna happen.

It depends on the injury but I doubt he'll be out for more than a year. Plenty of fighters and footballers have had much more severe leg breaks and come back within the year. I'm not sure how long McGregor's heart will be in fighting when he probably has enough money to retire his eventual grandkids but he seemed to be saying there's unfinished business and Poirier will be only too happy to take another fight for another huge payday so I'm sure the fourth fight will happen.

Is this true?

I guess McGregor would still be happy because he made $20M in this fight, though he loses if he will heal soon then he can make a fight because he is still popular. Some say he is over, well, let's wait until McGregor would announce that.

I very much doubt Connor got anywhere near 20 million and Poirier probably got way more than 1 million.

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/mma/mcgregor-poirier-prize-money-fight-purse-b1881941.html

Quote
No official purses have been disclosed for the UFC 264 main event, but Poirier has said he could make “five, six, seven, ten times” more money by fighting McGregor than he would have made from a lightweight title fight.

McGregor’s payout from his second clash with Poirier was reported to be around $3million. He is likely to receive a similar base pay here.

According to that for the last fight Connor got $3million but I'm sure he will get a percentage of the gate and PPV as well not to mention he will get millions from sponsorships.

Tired today though, man its always annoying staying up all night, getting all excited, and feeling those pre fight nerves, and it ends like that.

Just go to sleep and set an alarm or just watch it in the morning like I did. I'll usually only watch these fights live if I wake up early naturally. I wish they'd start doing them in more friendly UK times though. I don't understand why they don't do them at a more reasonable hour.

Thought this was hilarious:

I wonder if we'll ever see them fight. I think Conor would easily win against JP but Paul won't care given the life changing amount of money he'll get for it. Connor might end up fighting bums or social media stars the way things are going.

I'm not a fan of Jake Paul, but its a brilliant move on his part. Plus, with him losing to Poirer yet again, and looks to be going off the relevancy chart, a fight with Jake Paul might actually redeem some of his wrong doings in the eyes of many. Although, I'm not even sure Conor is playing that bad character anymore, and he seems to have morphed into the bad character. There's currently a bit of drama on some tweets he posted up, and deleted shortly after. I don't really understand the Irish lingo used on the tweets, but it really doesn't sit well with me the angle he seemed to be coming from.

What a way to ruin a legacy. As for the purse split, I doubt Poirer who prioritized a fight over Conor than the title fight, would only get 1 million from it. It has to be higher or at least more equally shared.

It's crazy to see that people paid so much money for PPV in latest event, but I guess UFC is happy and that is why they are trying to make it happen again, but outcome will be exactly the same and McGregor is done forever.
Check out latest interview by real champ and legend Khabib talking about latest fight Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier, retiring at the top, coaching and his new promotion:

Conor will likely always bring in the crowds, regardless of whether he wins, loses or draws. However, is legacy certainly is being tarnished now. At the end of the day, if he took that with a bit of humility, then the injury would have been just that. The fight started well, and it would have been interesting to see what would have happened in the second round. I thought Conor was doing okay on the ground, and was landing some nice elbows. Poirier actually didn't get too much damage in while on top, it was probably about equal in terms of damage. So, Conor by no means was out of that fight prior to the injury, he just lost the round, but he did a few times clip Poirier, and as Poirier said himself; he was a little buzzed.

I just wish Conor just let the fighting do the talking or at the very least keep the smack talk to more on the light hearted side, with the intention of getting in their heads. He seems to be really stepping over that line recently.

I would laugh if it will turn like this: Poirier would beat Oliveira and become a new champ. And UFC will organize Poirier vs Conor 4. Title fight after 2 straight losses. This fight would beat PPV record for sure. What do you think about this scenario?

Yeah, seems like a possibility, but I can't see Dusting beating Charlie Olivs, there is something that tells me Olivs is here to stay as champ without anyone having the skillset and the sheer volatility to beat him. But as speculation, yeah, I can see that, however, that would be a long time away if it happened and even if Dusting wins the belt, I don't see him keeping it for long.

It would benefit the UFC to organize a rematch with Poirier VS Conor with the belt on the line, however surely that would be hard to justify if Conor hasn't moved his way up the rankings. Isn't he something like 7th right now? Someone in 7th place shouldn't be challenging the world champion. Although, money talks so it could potentially happen.

Poirier isn't beating Oliveria in my book, though. Although, I'd love to see Poirier get that belt, I think we would see Oliveria using his wrestling skills to effectively dominate Poirer with control time.
