Good if that would happen but I doubt it will be able to compete with the salary of players in Japan, I mean, they a progressive country so it's normal that the salary is lower compared to them, that's simple logic. That's why PBA just strengthens their implementation of rules so players will stay once they are still in contract. That's right! compared how big the economy of japan it's not that hard to understand why they can offer that high compensation, the case of Kiefer is simply an issue of lacking in personal respect, before he signed that contract or communicating to any agent outside. he should pay attention to the organization, asking permission to the board of governors should be done beforehand, There's no problem if he ask for permission first before decisioning as there's a legal matter while he's inside the contract.

That could be the problem, he did not communicate to the team before communicating with the team he is supposed to play abroad, so everything is complicated now and his dream is might be delayed a bit. If Shiga Lakestars could wait, then they can have Kiefer after his contract ends, but if he will do better, he might also get a better contract and that might change his mind and stay at home. In short, a lot of things could happen that will impact the decision of both organizations in the future and Kiefer himself.

PBA board rejects Kiefer Ravena bid to play in Japan leagueAs I mentioned on the previous page, the legal basis is the question here. Obviously, it also includes Kiefer's commitment to the PBA and not just because NLEX allows it. I guess if only Kiefer does some official talks with the PBA boards prior to signing to Japan B League, he will be allowed. I don't think PBA boards will change their mind unless Kiefer will talk to the boards officially to fix "legal" things. I think they will change their minds. Now that the PBA is pushing this with the B League and its team Shiga Lake Stars, for sure that there will be some ammendments and recommendations that will done and the new signing team of Kiefer will help him to get him on board and would probably follow the protocols and process that must be done so that he'll be cleared. Only if they really want to take Kiefer on their board then they should also help him with the process following what's on his former contract and what are the rules indicated there and what shall be the punishment or penalties if the signee will violate or void the contract. Change by increasing the salary, if they would give a competitive salary, there's no reason for a PBA player to dream of playing abroad, their only ultimate dream is to play with the NBA if they have the skills. Kiefer surely is disappointed with this, he knows that he is still contract but he might not expect that the PBA will hinder his dream to grow. Well, that won't happen unless you've proven a lot of things and with Kiefer, he's still far from that demand of increasing his salary not unless the management will have that concern raised and answer it with that call. But even if they're going to increase his salary just to stay if Kiefer really wants to go offshore and play for another team, they cannot do anything with it as he's already decided and seems happy with his statement that he's going on Japan. Even I, I'll choose to go abroad as you're going to be locked in PBA with the same process again and again. And on the side of Kiefer, he still get back and be welcomed again by NLEX or any interested team in PBA once his contract expires. This is just assuming that he got already the pass to go abroad.

Kiefer understands the situation, he knows he can't anymore expect that he can play with Japan's B League. Kiefer practices with NLEX on supposed day of Shiga presconIf I were Kiefer, he should consider this as a challenge, he will work more, improve his game and help the team to succeed this season. With a success, he is building his resume properly, and who knows in the future, there will be more teams that will be interested in him and he will receive more offers. He is only 27 years old, there are still more years for him if he keeps himself healthy.

For now, since the issue was sensitive and to prevent a much-complicated thing, the best thing to do for Kiefer Ravena is to comply with the contract. While in the process, consult an appropriate individual to help him what to do legally. PBA will sure won't bother if Kiefer really decides to play overseas as long as there's no legal problem and breaching of contract. Although only a few players are given an offer to play abroad, signing with another team overseas while having a commitment in the PBA is just encouraging an unprofessional act for the players and might follow the same. PBA is not a barangay-level league that players can just decide what they want while under contract. Kiefer knows the contract, reads it, understands it, accepted the agreement, then signed it. Don't worry. Soon we will see Kiefer playing overseas once the issue got resolved.

San Miguel Corporation is waiting at him. No need to go abroad. Contract Salary + Playoffs Salary + Championship Salary + Under the table Salary are all the perks a player can get as part of SMC team. No need to play alongside other nationalities, away from family, away from friends. Just check at how much Scottie Thompson's perks last year when they won a championship. He's not even the Finals MVP on that series. Kiefer just need to give reason for the SMC to get him soon. No doubt that SMC has the biggest and competitive offers in the league that makes them the biggest franchise in the PBA that can matched an offer to other leagues outside the country.

If all the star players of a specific team will go to the SMB, that would make the PBA boring. There should be a balance and I don't like it when players just always think of money trying to play to the super team as that will leave other teams to be a shittty team. What would happen is that there will only be 3 to 4 teams in the PBA that has a legit chance of winning the championship. I guess it's time for the PBA to allow more teams to be part of the league.

Well, still wishing him the best of his career, abroad or in PBA.

THE sports management agency that handles Kiefer Ravena hopes to find a middle ground between the PBA and the star player, whose bid to play in the Japan B. League was stymied by the league Board due to a live contract with NLEX.
Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Manotoc, part owner of the Espiritu-Manotoc Basketball Management (EMBM) along with Marvin Espiritu, is keeping his fingers crossed the top brass of Asia’s pioneering pro league will keep an open mind about the latest issue.
“Hopefully, there are compromises and concessions that can be made sa mga players natin,” said the 32-year-old public official upon gracing Tuesday the online edition of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum. Let's see how this will end, or did the PBA management already end it, and their decision is final?

It will take a while before he can play with the Shiga Lakestars because his contract will expire on September 2023, and we don't know what would happen that time, there must be some big changes as no team could wait that long period of time for a certain player. In September 2020, Ravena has signed a three-year extension to his contract with NLEX.[82]
The Shiga Lakestars of Japan's B. League has announced on June 2, 2021 that they have signed in Ravena as their Asian import

They are for compromise, which means they did not respect the statement of the PBA, Kiefer wants to get out of the PBA and play abroad, if this will be approved, I doubt Kiefer could still come back in the PBA. His brother certainly has influenced him a lot, I can only see one reason, it's the finances as this league offers bigger salaries compared to the PBA, and his handler could also make more so he is pushing this to happen.

No doubt that SMC has the biggest and competitive offers in the league that makes them the biggest franchise in the PBA that can matched an offer to other leagues outside the country. I'm not against what you said but this makes the league boring like for real. Certain teams getting superstars and letting those lower teams to just use whatever players they have. These companies are just milking those other teams and they will just get any player they want to get and then they will trade players who aren't equal to the superstar that they got. It would be better if Kiefer will just stay on NLEX or just play abroad and no need to go to SMC. What would happen is that there will only be 3 to 4 teams in the PBA that has a legit chance of winning the championship.
I guess it's time for the PBA to allow more teams to be part of the league.
For the past decade, we only saw a few teams that are competing in the Finals. Only SMB, Ginebra and TNT are the ones who are competing and other teams?? They will just fall down and will wait for another conference which is quite frustrating because the competition of the league is slowly disappearing because of this. This is also the reason why the audiences aren't spending money to watch personally because at first glance, they can predict who will win. TBH, the league is boring already because of this. Now with regards to more teams in the PBA, there are some companies who want to join in PBA like SM and Cebuana but these companies (SMC and MVP) are preventing it.

I agree, it is already clear that the PBA board does not allow Keifer Ravena to play in Japan because of contract issues. It's just that the people behind this are not respecting the PBA anymore. It could be the money that influences Ravena's decision to play abroad but the uncertainty of him playing for a long time in Japan as an import is high as competition is tight. Maybe there are other motives why they are doing this.
Anyone got news on when the 46th season starts? It's already mid-June, last time I know is that they will open by June 15.

The salary offered by Japanese league is so huge thats why he's tempted to grab the offer, I hope Kiefer will do the right decision since if he push to go to Japan without having a clearance to PBA management for sure he will get a problem to go back if he's contract expires in Japan. Maybe for now he should focus to finish it to avoid any conflict since this will be a bad decision on his life if he didn't follow what's written on his current contract with Nlex.

Anyone got news on when the 46th season starts? It's already mid-June, last time I know is that they will open by June 15.
I think that the schedule will be delayed, if they wish to start this month, they should have already made an announcement this month. Maybe the PBA will start next month as they already started their training, they want to make sure that the bubble is still a success.

We might not see them commence this month. as per this news, PBA delays opening, but plans to start 'as soon as possible'The extension of the ECQ has greatly affected sports leagues once again, with the PVL looking to discuss its options, while the Philippines Football League (PFL) has already cancelled the Copa Paulino Alcantara that was set to start this month.
Instead, the PFL will kick off in July. part of the article and it's likely the same with the PFL scenario.

I've thought of the positive side that he's going to be easily be given the pass to go abroad already. But if this is the case that he has to face then he has to accept whatever the decisions will be. But I know that if the Shiga really is pursuing him, the PBA cannot do anything about it but have negotiations. Although it looks like there is no news about it or if there is, they won't really let the public know until things are done, finished and final. Well, still wishing him the best of his career, abroad or in PBA. It's better to keep silence while working on it, the media are just making it worse for him, if there's still negotiations then it's best not to publicly announce the process, but if there's nothing to work out it's best for him to accept it, beside he still under the contract and the right for keeping him inside the league still in the side fo PBA and his franchise, He needed to wait for the contract to expire and he's free to whatever he wish to do after, take this as a good challenge to prove his worth for sure more offer will send out chasing for him to play outside the country. I would assume now that it's best for him to accept the fact that he's not going outside the league until his contract expires. Then, he has to honor his contract and whenever it expires and done then that's the time that he can go abroad and play for Shiga or any team that wishes to play with him. I'm sure that he's going to love every single thing of the process and that's going to make it worth it of his journey. He's too close for it and he just needs to wait his contract finishes.

No other way but to accept his fate, proving something will add up to his value, if there's nothing left in terms of playing to Shiga, take this opportunities to let them see his worth. It's best for Keifer to show what he really capable with, from that point, scouts from Shiga league will see him and chance of having much higher offers may take place. For now, playing and bringing out the best from him will serves as key factors to achieved his goals.

They've seen enough from him, at the present team, they'll never win a championship, so the amount of offer will stay the same unless he will depreciate as a player. He has to finish the contract, have an agreement with Shiga so he can play after the contract expires.
