I would assume now that it's best for him to accept the fact that he's not going outside the league until his contract expires. Then, he has to honor his contract and whenever it expires and done then that's the time that he can go abroad and play for Shiga or any team that wishes to play with him. I'm sure that he's going to love every single thing of the process and that's going to make it worth it of his journey. He's too close for it and he just needs to wait his contract finishes.
No other way but to accept his fate, proving something will add up to his value, if there's nothing left in terms of playing to Shiga,

take this opportunities to let them see his worth.

It's best for Keifer to show what he really capable with, from that point, scouts  from Shiga league will see him and  chance of having much higher offers may take place.

For now, playing and bringing out the best from him will serves as key factors to achieved his goals.
He's just going to keep going on and move forward no matter what happens with the contract. But at the end of it, there's no need for him to be pushy if the decision is final and his contract should be finish first. I hope that there won't be any issue if his contract finally's done.
And Shiga is willing to wait for him to take on board, that's going to be a good collaboration of him and the team's management because they've waited for him at the right time.

I'm not against what you said but this makes the league boring like for real.
Certain teams getting superstars and letting those lower teams to just use whatever players they have. These companies are just milking those other teams and they will just get any player they want to get and then they will trade players who aren't equal to the superstar that they got.

It would be better if Kiefer will just stay on NLEX or just play abroad and no need to go to SMC.

That's the reality. The reason is, other teams don't have the capability to offer big.

Any team can get a superstar if they want but the problem is financial. SMC is the only team that capable to offer a good contract to any player.

See what happened to Calvin Abueva during the off-season? He even didn't voice out that he wants to play at SMC company but since his former team can't afford the contract, they trade him.

Kiefer will leave NLEX soon even there's no plan of playing abroad. I'm sure of that.

Well, I guess that is how the league works right now. You have more money = you have more power to get superstars at your own will.
This is why people are getting bored watching it already but there is nothing we can do about it but to just accept it.

Well, I might agree to the fact that Kiefer will really play abroad because of the experience that he can get in it. Give him few years to play abroad and he will be better than he is right now Cheesy. Now regarding Abueva, didn't expect him to go to SMC though but... yeah it is what is. They have power to get superstars that is why they will get it Cheesy. Aside from SMC, even MVP is capable of signing offering good contracts to superstars. Its just that SMC has more superstars than them Cheesy.

PBA controls the players after all, though they are playing by the contract but there's still a big politics on PBA that makes it more boring. SMC have so many great players and I don't know what's the rule of PBA here but it's true that if you have the money, you can get anyone. On the Kiefer case, I'd rather leave the NLEX right away and go for Abroad just like Thirdy. Also, I don't like the rules of PBA on draft system because they are forcing the players to play on PBA and if you didn't participate, you'll be ban.  Cheesy

They don't want to lose their assets its business for them and also they are worried since if they let Kiefer take his contract then play in japan for sure the other star players in PBA will also get an interest to play especially if the salary their is so big compare to the salary they get on PBA.

This could jeopardize the league since japan is so active taking some good players around the globe just to boost up their market and the popularity of their league.

Yeah thats why they made a decision not to allow Ravena since they now this could possibly start their problem since this could make the fans turn off for seeing him leaving the league. PBA now is kinds boring so if one of their star left they might get less viewer compared seeing him doing some good competitive basketball to other team in the league. Maybe Ravena should try again once his contrsct expires.

Good point, it will open up the opportunities for other superstar to consider such offer,
Japan have a good economy it's very easy for them to sign a good player all around the world.

PBA can do nothing if a certain players who already have an expired contract  consider the offer,
If they allow Ravena then it will start the chase from other teams who also have the same interest for Pinoy stars.

We will see the next page of this story after Ravena's contracts expired, let see if how interested he is playing along side with his bro!

The contract will not expire soon, there's a lot of games he will have to play before it's over and who knows if that time will come and the B league will not anymore interested in him. They want it now and waiting for 1 to 2 years before they can have an age Ravena is not really a good choice IMO.

Well, maybe he just has to accept that he will only stay in the PBA unless the PBA will allow a buy out of contract which for sure they will not give a chance to happen.

If that workable Shiga have all the capabilities to buy that contract, but like what you've said it's not possible or PBA won't allow it to happened. They wanted Kiefer to stay as what the contract tied him to this league, really not getting any favorable sides knowing that
it's a good opportunities for fellow kabayan.

PBA needs to protect their business, if they'll give this go signal they'll need to make sure that they are willing to lose many stars that may receive same offer from other leagues outside of the county.

it's a good opportunities for fellow kabayan.

PBA needs to protect their business, if they'll give this go signal they'll need to make sure that they are willing to lose many stars that may receive same offer from other leagues outside of the county.

They can buy out the contract if PBA will allow,  that's easy for them as it will just be deducted from Kiefer's contract, but of course, PBA is thinking of the future effect because it will not be Kiefer who is the one to do it, other PBA stars might follow him as they always want to enjoy a bigger salary, so it's a no for the PBA, they won't allow it to happen.

Maybe if it's the NBA, they would not hesitate as they will be so proud,  you know what I'm saying.

Well, maybe he just has to accept that he will only stay in the PBA unless the PBA will allow a buy out of contract which for sure they will not give a chance to happen.

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/pba-says-no-to-buyout-of-kiefer-ravena-s-contract-with-nlex-a795-20210605
That's really what he needs to do and we fans have to accept. There's no more other Ravena that's going on B League until his contract settles and expires. Shiga having the choice to buy out his contract but that would be a big amount for them as an investment for just taking Kiefer. Will they do that? we don't know. Speaking of Ravena, how about his brother Thirdy Ravena? is he still going to play with any team or his former team in B League? I haven't read any news about him renewing his contract or maybe is that I'm not very much updated on his career run in Japan.

Yeah thats why they made a decision not to allow Ravena since they now this could possibly start their problem since this could make the fans turn off for seeing him leaving the league.

The Shiga signing is by surprise and out of the blue. And after just signing, Ravena will head right away to Japan with some unfinished business. That was unrespectful indeed for a professional player, who just sign a fresh agreement with NLEX and PBA, so the league takes action and I think what they did is right. Take note also that he agree to sign in Uniform Players' Contract (UPC) where he agrees that he won't be a move to another league.

If Ravena really talks to the PBA board prior to signing, there shouldn't be an issue now or the issue got settled behind the cameras. And he is silent about the issue, not because he was asked to do so or to not make any controversies, but I'm sure they admit there was a really a mistake on their part.

More importantly, I don't see his future bid on playing outside the country will be jeopardized. Time will heal everything and soon, his current contract will be restructured and modified so that he can now play outside without any questions.

As per them they have talked about that but not on a legal way, and now Ravena have to follow the contract to avoid any problem in the future. We have to respect the rules of the league despite of its current situation, since we know that the PBA is having so much issues before. Japan league already give way I guess because of this contract issues, this is a wake up call for every player not to sign a contract without fully understanding on every terms and conditions, now he have to wait until the contract ends.

I'm just curious why the PBA has said if the player wants out of the league, is it that the team and players side to settle?

What I disagree with is the draft-dodging rule. In case of Kiefer Ravena, it's different and as I said, there is no proper settlement.

PBA can live without Ravena but everything should be done professionally.

...because at the end of the day this should be between the team and the owners the should be talking and not the league?

Definitely and obviously, it's not how the agreement should be. If that is, then why there's a league in the first place if team owners are free to decide whenever they want. There should be a consultation first as that was even the part of the agreement when the team enters the league.

...it's like the PBA holds the player's neck in every situation, all the trades and players being swap to other superpower teams like making the league unbalance and no competition,

We should exclude that from Kiefer Ravena's case.

This could jeopardize the league since japan is so active taking some good players around the globe just to boost up their market and the popularity of their league.

And the league would not allow that, that's why they are so strict because they really don't give a big salary so the star players will just stay.  Living in the Philippines is really good but if a player is seeking bigger pay, they could have to sacrifice all that for bigger dreams.

If NLEX or other team if incase he will go to other PBA team can't match the monthly salary that Japan can give to him then I'm pretty sure that he will go and play with his brother after his contract. On the other hand though, its kinda good to see that the management didn't allow Ravena to leave because it will create a domino effect and it will have a huge impact in the league itself and in the future.. If they will just allow 1 player after another to play abroad then there is a chance that no one will watch the game anymore or worse we might see a league without any superstars.

PBA is all about business that is why it is boring already.

Others would think that the rules are not strictly implemented and there's a special treatment if other players will try but will not be approved. PBA just want to keep their star players so fans will continue to watch them, otherwise, they'll lose revenue also due to losing their fans, which is a big one, bigger than the contract of Ravena as it would affect the future of the league.

PBA are so greedy, they have to secure good players to remain on top of ahead of other league and we all know that there’s so much politics in PBA. Anyway, Kieffer should know this in the first place before agreeing to sign a contract into foreign league, but I guess if it’s a foreign league I believe we should support our local players and that contract should consider this as well, we need a big change to save basketball in our country.

That's how things works, if you are running a business you'll secure everything. Making sure that it will turned things on your favor and you'll not going to compromise whatever you have to continue moving forward.

In the other side, I see the point that since it's outside the country it only means that foreign leagues acknowledge the talent of our kababayan and that's something  to be proud of.

Though  both sides have their respective interpretations and we should move forward and wait for the league to begin.
