That is not called greedy, they are just protecting their interest because they are running a business and they want to ensure they are operating with a profit, if they will loosen their policy and will just easily allow players to sign with other leagues even still in contract, then they have to assurance of their future and PBA will fail.
That's how things works, if you are running a business you'll secure everything. Making sure that it will turned things on your favor and you'll not going to compromise whatever you have to continue moving forward.

In the other side, I see the point that since it's outside the country it only means that foreign leagues acknowledge the talent of our kababayan and that's something  to be proud of.

Though  both sides have their respective interpretations and we should move forward and wait for the league to begin.

They need guards, our guards are faster and better, so it's a chance for the good guards to play this team as the demand will continue. It started with Thirdy Ravena and they might see it as a success so they are adding some imports, something to be proud but the PBA is not happy with it.

I'm just curious why the PBA has said if the player wants out of the league, is it that the team and players side to settle? it's like the PBA holds the player's neck in every situation, all the trades and players being swap to other superpower teams like making the league unbalance and no competition, i think the rules need to change because at the end of the day this should be between the team and the owners the should be talking and not the league?
It's actually not the team that has a bind on the player but it's the PBA management that doesn't want to let go a player. They just want to let know that they should honor the contract that they have with the team and the player. But if they have seen that the team has allowed a player to get out, they should also allow them to get out if they have some opportunity that's knocking but no. They're the one who's stopping the player to get out of the league and it's like a closed place that no one shall get out.

The PBA cannot force him to play even if they have a contract, there must be a condition in the contract stating that "if a player will not finish the contract" he will have to pay something, that's why it was reported that the team abroad that is interested to sign him would like to buy out the contract, but the PBA still doesn't want to talk.

Good to know that he'll be playing for the national for sure his height can bring additional help for the gilas, With his trainings and the matureness that he already have now,

Kai have that qualification to stand there and give some lift inside from bth offense and defense, though depends from how the coaches will use him for the nationals.

While waiting for the announcement when PBA will be open, this Fiba games will give some entertainment for us.

Definitely, we don't have a big that is tall as him and this is the time for him to prove that he is not just all about hype but he is legit who can bring impact to the team or might lead the team to be more competitive and win.

Yes, still weird as the timeline should be June. They can't just say the opening will be next week lol.

There's not even much update now compare to the time when PBA doesn't have any signs of coming back. Maybe they are giving at least 2-3 weeks of practice to all teams? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think some teams aren't starting yet to their respective practice.

There is another new restriction qualification for the country and with that, I don't see any reason why PBA is taking too long to decide or if there's already a plan, no such announcement, and still a plan. I'm not in a rush though. Just noticed the lack of updates when everything is now going smoothly.

I think they will announce the update of the PBA opening after the 3rd window of FIBA Asia qualifier. Though the commissioners have no direct involvement in this event I think they will closely observe how it is being done and they are also hoping that it would be a big success to impress the IATF that basketball will not be a super spreader event once it resumes, of course with the compliance of the health and safety protocol.

Speaking of FIBA, we now have a chance to have a glimpse of Kai Sotto and company as they will be facing South Korea tomorrow.

Let us see if Kai deserves to be in the league of men as his handlers promised.

Good update, what channel can we see that game bro?

I'm not anymore updated with the FIBA as I'm busy betting on the NBA playoffs now, lol.. but I love to see how he can help his team.

I'm sure that we have free TV coverage of the Clark bubble bro, just turn-in to TV5 Sports channel  Smiley.

I think that crypto bookies will cover this event just like before so we could still make a bet for this one.

Against a Rattlif reinforced South Korea I think the Gilas Cadet would be a huge underdog in this match but still, it's exciting to watch the future of the PBA play.

That's the channel we can see this game, however, the odds is also available already.

Not sure huge based on the betting odds that were shared.

The Philippines is +5.5 and 2.85 to win the game.
Korea having Rattlif is like having an import and we don't know how the Philippines would stop him.

So the question is, is the +5.5 worth to take or not? why?

I'm staying away from this game, my thought is that the Gilas cadets will not win against South Korea and that +5.5 HC is inappropriate IMO as I think they will be destroyed by their opponents. Though this is a good experience for the young guns of Philippine basketball, betting for them is not a cool thing for now especially against a strong opponent like South Korea, maybe against Indonesia I will bet but I have to look at the odds first.

edit:

Seems like I'm wrong with my prediction as Gilas is catching up with the Koreans now.

edit2:

What a game, that Hail Mary three point by Belangel just went in. This kid just got future in the PBA with the way he man the point for the Gilas squad.

South Korea was the favorite but I heard they lose against the Gilas, I was not able to watch the game live but I have to watch the highlights now to see how they beat the strong South Korea team. Congrats to those who bet on the moneyline. Grin

Thanks, I just finished watching the highlights and it's just a short highlight, and I'm glad the Philippines had a good start in this tournament. Sotto was really a big help for the team, he was good inside with his defense and I think the roster now is even better than the PBA rosters, just saying.

By the way mate, congrats on your winning, you did not only win in this game but also on the NBA.

Very proud to see that we finally did it, that hail mary shot step side board really give the win to our  very own Gilas, luck permits the

pinoy pride to win this Fiba game, very intense and very dissapointing to the visiting opponent, in the other side, it was a vey good game for the home team winning it in front of their fans.

just a start of many games hopefully it will boost the spirit high for this young Gilas squad! Congrats!

With the code of contract and law in our country, for sure that's a common condition when someone is signing up a contract. It's a common rule that whenever someone breaks a rule with their contract and tries to terminate it, they should pay a fine and that's probably higher than the total amount that the contract will give to the signee. I thought that there's no buying for his contract for that team and they've assumed that he's free to get out of the team but still, no more issues with him AFAIK, he's going to stay.

Kai Sotto is again in the Philippines as part of the Gilas.

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba/kai-sotto-arrives-with-gilas-pilipinas-in-clark-a2437-20210613?ref=home_featured_big

We will see soon how he can apply his training in the US and will he be vital for the team's success.
Yes. Show what you've got Kai. I saw his name in the list and they've just won against South Korea and made an amazing performance a while ago. That was an incredible buzzer beater!  Cool

These young guns really played so amazingly, we did not need the PBA players to play to beat a good team.

It was South Korea who had a good lead at the start but the Philippines came back in the 2nd half and win the game.
That last shot was great, if it didn't fall, the Philippines might lose in the OT, but still, I'm proud of them as they didn't give up, instead they come back to win.

Good exposure for these young guns and they are the future of the PBA especially Kai Sotto but it was Dwight Ramos who did well in this game just like in the previous window. If this kid is eligible to play in the PBA, he deserves to be the number one pick overall.

It was South Korea who had a good lead at the start but the Philippines came back in the 2nd half and win the game.

I thought the Busan experience will haunt the Gilas once again after the missed throw then the 3-point shot by Korea that tied the game, fortunately, BelANGEL who was sent from heaven make that desperate 3 point shot that saves the day for Gilas and more importantly gives the boys more confidence going forward in this tournament.
