Leeds United 3-0 Chelsea

West Ham United 0-2 Brighton and Hove Albion

Newcastle United 3-3 Manchester City

Brighton have proven they are the real deal. After winning away to Manchester United in the opening game of the season they go to West Ham and win too. As for Manchester City, being 3-1 down they got back to 3-3 but Haaland missed another sitter which really should have given them a 3-4 victory within time added on.

Jollygood Thank you for skipping our disasterclass today, Arsenal appears to be the only team in good shape right now, but we all know how this will end. Our midfield was disfigured from the start, and we were tactically defeated in every area. We don't look good without Kova or Kante in the lineup.

What went wrong with Chelsea today?

If Mendy did not try to dribble on his own goal line which resulted in the first goal, would Chelsea have taken a point or all three? What was Mendy doing playing such dangerous tactics?

This start to the season has been quite strange in the Premier League.

So Chelsea lose 3-0 to Leeds? A result that many were not expecting, for sure.
And Newcastle managed to draw 3 goals with Man City. It's not that it's such a surprising result, but more was expected from Man City.

Will we have a more balanced competition this season?

Manchester City will probably win the league as Arsenal fade away but will Liverpool start winning game to close the gap?

I think it will be a more balanced competition this season and we are already seeing it unfold:

• Brighton travelled to Manchester United and then to West Ham to win both games
• Leeds beat Chelsea comprehensively with a 3-0 win
• Arsenal are sitting on top of the table with three wins from their three games
• Manchester City draw 3-3 away at Newcastle United
• Liverpool remain without a win from their two games

I happen to think Arsenal will have a good season and fight for the win.
They are continuing the good work they started doing last season, where they detected and corrected the problems I was having, I can finish at the top of the table. And this season, they will certainly have a good season.

Manchester United vs Liverpool

The half-time whistle was blown a couple of minutes ago with the score 1-0 by virtue of a Sancho goal.

This Liverpool team look dangerous when going forward but Nunez was not available because he was sent off against Crystal Palace. Liverpool would be a bigger threat if Nunez was playing. Salah, Firmino, Alexander-Arnold and Gomez have hardly been in the game.

Manchester United did not start with Shaw, Martial, Ronaldo or Maguire. They opted with Martinez and Varane as centre backs and with Dalot and Malacia on left and right back.

In the first half Liverpool weren't even able to hold the midfield well or defend the counter-attacks by their opponent. Creativity was limited as well. Fabinho should enter the game if he is able to even walk when Thiago and Naby are absent. The centre is literally finished. The midfield transfer wasn't able to be made and this situation combined with the current injuries also. As a result the crisis has got bigger.

Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool

Liverpool lose their first Premier League game in the whole of 2022 and Manchester United win their first game against Liverpool in more than 4 years and it is also the first league victory of the ten Hag era at Manchester United. They played some of the best football in well over a year to beat Liverpool.

Liverpool have now taken just 2 points from a possible 9 points and are just 1 point above the relegation zone.

Manchester United now leapfrog Liverpool and are higher than them in the league table and are clear by a point.

Liverpool lose their first Premier League game in the whole of 2022 and Manchester United win their first game against Liverpool in more than 4 years. Manchester United played some of the best football in well over a year to beat Liverpool.

Liverpool have now taken just 2 points from a possible 9 points. Manchester United now leapfrog Liverpool and are higher than them in the league table.

Liverpool were all over the game in the first half, they had their chances, but the Manchester United defense was very compact tonight, you could see everyone throwing themselves to the ball, the Martinez guy was a beast, the Liverpool defense were caught on so many counter attacks, as there were so many open spaces in the midfield. Tonight, mane strength and dirty work up front were both lacking. I'm not surprised because I was expecting an uproar.

Another beautiful odd wasted.

I agree, Martinez was playing very well in defence and all the team was playing as a unit. What is going wrong with Liverpool right now? It seems obvious to me they miss Mane and only now do the Liverpool players and supporters probably understand how special a player he was.

The €100m spent on Nunez could have been used to extend Mane's contract for another 3 years, but they thought they were getting a good deal because Mane is 30, and they will realize that Luiz Diaz and M.Salah do not have a good link up, the only guy trying to link up well with Salah was Elliott, the young guy was all over the place, he was given a free role exactly where Mane played last season. It's only three games!! I'll want a little bit more.

Liverpool had no choice but to sell him because he refused to sign a new deal. I think they mistreated him by paying him half of what they were paying Salah and he basically decided to move on because they made him feel unappreciated.

Salah will not be able to be effective like he was in previous seasons because Mane will not be making assists for him and Salah needed Mane to be as prolific as he was. Individually, Nunez and Diaz are very good players who can change games by scoring goals and with their brilliant runs against defenders but they will need time to establish themselves. Liverpool look as though they will struggle this season.

Arsenal are currently doing very well in the English Premier League but Manchester City are performing much better than Arsenal.If we look at the points table we can see that Manchester City is at the top of the points table with maximum points But Arsenal have brought many changes to their game If Arsenal can keep up their game then maybe they will overtake Manchester City in the future. But if Arsenal do well, I think Manchester City will try to perform better than that

Liverpool no longer have Mane attacking defenders and helping out in midfield and they have not brought in the type of player that can replicate his level of hard work. This will be a tough painful season for Liverpool, I would not be surprised if they make a top 4-5 finish at the end of the season.

@JollyGood I felt that the Liverpool player’s were lost, because after the first goal it looked like that they were accusing each other of sloppiness, and if they continue to behave like this on the pitch then they’ll only suffer more. Also credits to Ten Hag for making the brave call to drop Ronaldo, and sending a clear message that no player will be selected because of his status, and we’ll probably witness exciting football once again when Casemiro settles in and who knows maybe Manchester United will rise up again very soon too.

Lisandro Martinez was one of the heroes of this match indeed. Especially one time he saved a goal right above the goal line which could have been a turning point for Liverpool. Fernandes could have caused a big disaster there. Erik ten Hag should prefer the Martinez - Varane duo more often from now on.

There were many positive things about the offensive side of the team also. Rashford had his best performance so far. There wasn't even a need for Ronaldo because Rashford played his role superbly. If Rashford's self-confidence increases in the coming days the team can benefit from this very much. As you know there is still a possibility for Ronaldo to leave so Manchester United should focus on Rashford as much as possible.

Milner and Henderson were too old to handle the high-pressing United midfield, and it is obvious that they need another 1-2 midfielders. The midfield is undeniably completely out of shape. During today's press conference, Klopp did make a statement about it. He said the team is currently searching for midfield options before the end of the transfer window, but there is no assurance they would find one.

I see now! Manchester United increased their offer for Anthony, which Ajax rejected. Despite their desire to keep him, they continue to demand €100m  or no deal. I'm not sure who is more stupid in this situation, but that is the most obscenely greedy and ridiculous thing to do. Which is worse, Manchester United for paying such a sum for a player who did only 6G/A during  season or AJAX for refusing to accept €80m for Anthony, who has yet to play at the highest level?

Manchester United was brilliant from start to finish and what a massive improvement from the Brentford game. They used Brentford as a motivation. A deserved three points! As for Liverpool, It looks like Sadio Mane carry all the good luck with him to Bayern Munich and their team is ravaged with injuries as well. You could feel the pain in Carragher’s voice during the commentary on Sky Sport.

Liverpool have been successful under Klopp and when you get used to being successful you do tend to take it badly and be surprised when things do not go your way. Liverpool will not have it easy this season because teams are no longer afraid to take the game to them.

Manchester United might just have kickstarted their season.

It is very difficult to argue with what you said.

I think Liverpool will suffer massively this season because as I said before they will miss Mane. If he was on the pitch he would be pushing his team for an equaliser after they went 1-0 down. Then to concede the second goal was a disaster for them, they were all over the place. Ten Hag left out Maguire, Shaw, Martial and Ronaldo yet they went on to win, they were big calls but he made it and backed it up with a win.

Southampton - Manchester United match has ended. The Red Devils couldn't carry their first half effort to the other half. This resulted in a high pressure by Southampton. This was a way worse performance compared to last week for the Manchester side. Southampton weren't just having a good day which helped their opponent win by 1-0. There is still much to improve for Manchester United. I'm still surprised how they can play this much differently against Liverpool and Southampton consecutively.

Liverpool and Manchester City matches started very fast. Liverpool scored 2 goals in 7 minutes already. They are playing much better than I expected which shows how much ambitious they are to get their first win.

As for Manchester City they conceded a shocking goal in the 4th minute already. John Stones scored an own goal while trying to deflect the ball. Will there be another nightmare for them? Because as you can remember Crystal Palace won 2-0 here last season.

Consistency is crucial for improving in whatever one does, and I believe Manchester United lacked that against Southampton today. Because compared to this game they won, their performance in the previous one was better. If the manager doesn't take action, they will continue to concede goals in games they never expect to lose, which will make it difficult for them to stay on the winning side for a longtime this season.
