pekv2, you don't need 3 resisters per dummy plug. And you don't need the dvi-vga adapter either: http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=11

I'm thinking on adding a Led in series with the resistor.
It would be "extra-cool" if I could use the leds for some kind of status other than on and of. (perhaps three leds, red green and yellow, and output the pure colour to the screen?)
Any idea or is this too dumb?

Four GPUs including the APU on a mATX motherboard. Placed in my shed. Running as cheap as I can get with salvaged PSUs, monitor and no case.

I would suspect there may be some new, cooler ones. Since there is atleast the probablity that the asics are OC able.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

What kind of cooler are you using on the APU? Was it hard to mount?

That cooler is the stock cooler that came with my Phenom II or FX-8150, it has the same mounting as the stock AMD APU cooler, but is better due to the heatpipes and larger surface area.

Tell me about it, there's some really... innovative solutions on here  Cheesy

Personally though I always liked the "total overkill gaming PC" model:

Sadly will be pretty redundant as of next year  Cry

Any chance of resizing that pic? Also, 1700MH/s is what, 3 heavily undervolted 5970s? Or 7970s?

Tips? 1crazy8pMqgwJ7tX7ZPZmyPwFbc6xZKM9

Finally snapped a good shot of my rig. Smiley

Currently 2x 5870 and 2x 5830. I have a 5850 in the mail, and I'm trying to grab a third 5870, in which case I'll sell one of the 5830's.

Would you be able to show a couple more pics just so I can see how you built it.  Love the clean simple design.

Sure thing. I also responded to your PM.

Only one thing I would change is to put another 10" long board in place of the ruler so the cards would have more support. The ruler does work just fine though, for anyone curious.

The CM with wc setup just fits with the wc cooling setup, as it looks badass.

My balcony rig, finally I managed to change the orientation of all the cards to be vertical, so that hot air will blow upwards, and cold air will be filled quickly from below, at the same time more snow/rain resistant (it is located under the roof, and have other cover, but sometimes snowflakes will make their way onto the motherboard, now it is vertical, much less risk)

A benefit is that I can defroze food in the upper cage, very effective  Grin

The noise is still an issue, even after I lowered the voltage, fans still go above 3000 rpm in sunny days. Just ordered some arctic xtreme cooler, but that might nullify the benefit of this position

The stock coolers are the way to go. A little noisy but they are far more effective...
