I think it was at 40-50 mhash/s for the few minutes I ran it.

This config didn't last long b/c I didn't like seeing the 7870's vrms at 67-72c when mining/gaming. Now that I have a much cooler running mobo, I will try it again and this time work an extra 120mm or two into the equation. xD

~70C for VRM temps are actually pretty good! Why would you complain about that?

I'm 'heat o pheobic'. :p

I also like having the peace of mind of knowing that the card is mint, when it come time to sell.

Over time the temp swings of anything over 60c can/will cause significantly more wear on your gear. The industry temp standard is rigged to increase sales. The faster you burn it out..

Got a PCI-E extender because my GPUs were way too close and the top one was getting too hot. One of my BFL singles isn't running atm due to a bad power brick. Buying some cables from Cablez: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74397.0 Smiley The Delta AFB1212 fan in my window moves some serious air and really keeps my room at a perfect temperate. It can get loud at 100% so I use SpeedFan to keep it around 75% speed.

Hio all Smiley

Its about time I found something a little tougher than Trackmania, for my hd 7870 to chew on !

I don't care how much space it takes up.. EVERY gpu I add will be vf3000'nd. xD

I also replace stock coolers with Artic Twin Turbo II coolers. Damn silent.. 100% fans and 48-52 temps on heavily overclocked 5870's.

Thx for that.. I'll definitely have to consider it for this 6870 I have lined up.

No luck with the 6870 .. but some luck with getting the temps down a bit while gaming and mining. xD

The new mobo doesn't seem to like this gpu combo. It took some work to get it to boot with the fake display.

I need an Antec 1100 !  Roll Eyes

I am not talking about electromigration, although it wouldn't surprise me if high temps help to speed up the degradation.

Where did you learn a big word like that ? I'll bet you're the smart one of the litter.  Roll Eyes

Im not taking sides on this issue as I have no facts in either direction. But the way I look at it is most hardware is going to drop in value a large amount after 1-2 years and anything after 2 years it is pretty much worthless. I used to be an overclocking nut as well as a Folding@home nut. I have run a fair amount of hardware out of spec and at some pretty high temps with only a few failures. If I can get 2+ years out of it Im happy because after that time no one wants it anyway...

Just my opinion.  Cool

Opinions are always welcome. Its the 'all knowing' mentality that bugs me. Smiley

Making the gear last is only part of the reason I run my gear as cool as possible.

The other part has to do with the toxic fumes the card will emit at the higher temps. This never gets talked about because just like smog/pollution, cell phone radiation, GMOs ect., they are all supposed to be "safe".

Its a big word to you? I'm not surprised by the level of intelligence (or the lack thereof) you've been demonstrated. (not talking about electromigration while rambling about heat kills IC and microprocessors ? )

Where did you pull that magic number (60c) from? Your ass? Does it hurt? You probably got used to it tho.

This thread has taken a nasty turn.

You shouldnt be posting here bro.

You're exposed to electromagnetic field and radiation of computer + monitor, as well as the luminescence from LCD screen can kill you.

I suggest to unplug your internet connectivity, turn off your gear and stay below 60c. Its NOT a myth.
