Yeah, that's no good. I should have realized just by looking at the picture, it has 1 Green (ground) 1 Black (120v) and 1 white (neutral).

So you'll only be sending 120v to the S4, and it will consume 11.66a instead of 5.83a. No good. A PDU outputs 240v, not 120v.

I'd seriously consider returning everything you bought, and replacing your L14-30 with good quality (Hubble) L6-30R sockets. Generally what you'll find in hardware stores aren't the best quality. You could also consider making your own wiring harness for the L14-30 instead of buying an extension or a PDU.

I agree with you 100%

That means I ought to exchange the 100 feet of 10/3 wire I purchased for 100 feet of 10/2 as well?  I believe the L6-30R socket only has 3 terminals... correct?  I can save about $20 right there.

If they allow returning the wire, yes. You only need 10/2. If they won't take the wire back you can still use the 10/3, you just won't connect the white wire to anything.

It's still in its packaging.  Has not been opened yet.  I decided to keep the 10/3 in case I or the next owner of my house needs options to make changes.  I just will not use the white wire.

You've been a BIG help.

BITMAIN announces Antpool: Pushing forward Decentralization

We are pleased to announce Antpool (antpool.com) which is open for users all around the world. BITMAIN has invested significant resources into developing a bitcoin pool based on the p2pool mining protocol. BITMAIN reaffirms its commitment to help decentralize the Bitcoin network, strengthen the Bitcoin eco-system and put the majority of hashing power into the hands of consumers.

The p2pool protocol prevents hashing power being controlled by one central entity (the pool owner), and has been significantly developed during the development of Antpool. All p2pool code will be open sourced and uploaded on BITMAIN’s Github link this week https://github.com/bitmaintech/p2pool. Antpool supports solo mining as well.

Antpool has been proven to be stable and secure through its long testing period.  From August 22th to November 10th, 295 blocks were found and 7398 Bitcoins were mined. Further stats can be found here link https://www.antpool.com/poolStats.htm.

Antpool can be found at antpool.com, while miners now can connect at stratum.antpool.com:3333 for pooled mining, and will be able to connect at p2p.antpool.com:3333 for p2p mining this week. Pool nodes are deployed around the world to improve performance and provide redundancy. Miners are automatically routed their closest location, including:
  • United States
  • Germany
  • Hong Kong
  • Beijing
  • Shenzhen
  • Qingdao
  • Hangzhou and more.

Features
  • 0% fees and PPLNS earnings.
  • Graphical displays for hashing speeds, income and pool statistics.
  • Email warnings for underperforming miners.
  • API and third party application support.
  • Support for miner groups, group statistics and management.

Forum & Ticket System
Users are able to access to Antpool with their BITMAIN account. The log in and ticket system is unified across all BITMAIN services, which allows communication and support to be more efficient. Miners now can buy mining rigs from bitmaintech.com and chose hosting service at Umisoo and mine at antpool.com.

Your feedback is important for us to develop and improve our products.

@ Bitmain:

Spondoolies just slashed reduced the price of their SP20 home miner - any chance you'll be doing the same for the S4?

It's needed & overdue....

SP20 - BTC1.795 delivered

S4 - BTC2.754 plus delivery

Come on guys - only a few hours before I pull the trigger, no prizes for guessing where  Wink

Sort it out.

If the price keeps ramping like it is, you could have bought 2 SP 20's for that......sorry, not trying to rub it in or anything...... Tongue

I know.  No problem.

I like Bitmain Antminers.  Just my preference.  I'm sure everyone has their preference.  Yes, they had issues with Batch 1.  Yes, it might be risky to get Batch 2 after they said they have fixed the issue with the PSU and not really knowing if Batch 2 rigs have had their firmware properly updated.  Yes, Batch 3 will probably be the better bet.  However, I'm going to put my trust in them and show my support.  Their S3's have worked out great for me.  They have been very reliable.  I have 16 of them (7.4 Th/s).  Not much at the moment but I'm working on it.

Just ordered two Tripp Lite metered PDU's from Amazon.  As well as a lot of cords.  BTC keeps going up like this, I will have my 50 Th/s in no time at all.

I also made a bet with someone back on October 9th that BTC price will be $510.00 or higher at midnight the night of Thanksgiving (Nov. 27).  It's looking good that I will win that bet.  It was a 0.1 BTC bet ($51.00 or higher; depending on how much higher than $510 US it may be at that time).

I'll pass.

You get what you pay for...

I believe the S4 will be a great unit.  Especially once batch 3 comes out.

Its probably going to be close, the S4 is loud but its all rather low pitched where as the SP20 has that iconic whine.

i hate that noise. I moved my SP10s to hosting for that reason, and bought $20 fans for the rockminer products due to it also.

silent products are key - even in a datacenter environment noone wants to blow out the eardrums to a shrill screeching fan

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

As I posted before, I am very surprised that not a single manufacturer addresses this with a new product (exception: S3 is/was acceptable).

Waiting for S5.

I'd be interested to know how much louder the S4 is to the S2 (S3s are perfect). Don't have my S2's anymore, but I remember the sound, which was OK with me (as I do remember the sound of the SP10s, and yes they went into hosting).

The S5 is clouded in secrecy for the moment, I maybe wrong, but I'm guessing:

1) Liquid cooled for the home miner.
2) Only available via hashnest?

We'll see.

I guess that's the problem with trying to pack them into as small a size as they can. Not going to be possible to get quiet 120mm fans wth 240+ CFM.... The smaller the fan, the higher the pitch. I've been trying to find quiet 120mm fans with 250+ CFM.. no luck.

Not related to Bitmain.. but the S4 comes with a PSU. I've considered getting the SP20 but after taking into account the delivery plus having to buy a PSU. The S4 seems to come up slightly on top. I'm in Singapore by the way, so shipping the SP20 is expensive for me.
