Yes, all meats can spread diseases but you should understand why pork's meat is different and unhygienic than others. "Pork are omnivorous scavenging animals that literally eat everything. From rotten food to dead carcasses nothing escapes their menu. They not only eats bugs, insects, and whatever leftover scraps they find laying around, but also their own feces, as well as the dead carcasses of sick animals, including their own young. This is why the fat that builds up in their muscles is far more than any other meet that we eat. This itself can explain why the meat of the pig can be so dirty or at the very least not so appetizing to consume." (Read below)

I don't want to convince you either but you just keep saying we don't think.......

Attempts to validate an ancient behavioral directive by modern science will fail.

The argument presented that "we (Muslims) don't think" is as valid as any argument against religion, superstition, or cultural beliefs.  So it certainly isn't just against Muslims.  Although that is the subject of this topic so here we are.

Did you know that of various kinds of bad food, spoiled fish is the one thing that will certainly kill you?  Not only that, but fresh water fish carry many kinds of parasites thus cannot be eaten raw.  Fish from the sea do not, thus they may be eaten raw.

So when you focus narrowly on pigs as "bad" you really are only reciting what you were taught in your culture.  Reading your paragraphs clearly shows such a cultural perspective.

Having said that I guess the only concern I would have about the presence or absence of pigs in your culture would be whether their absence contributed to malnutrition or such in a portion of the population.   Otherwise it's of no concern to me.

However I agree with the concept that a rigid focus on dogma from an old book will prevent scientific understanding.

That you did.  And it's reasonable that narrowly following rigid dogma from an old book will prevent understanding about pigs.  So lets look at pigs.

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/05/09/why-pigs-are-so-valuable-for-medical-research/

Researchers from the National Institutes of Health last month announced that they'd successfully transplanted hearts from genetically engineered pigs into baboons, potentially paving the way for pig-to-human organ transplants in the future.

And on May 7, genome scientist Craig Venter partnered with United Therapeutics Corp. to develop pig lungs that could be compatible with the human body.

But pigs offer more than just a potential source for organ donation. For over 30 years, scientists have been using pigs in a number of medical fields, including dermatology, cardiology and more. Recently, scientists were even able to re-grow human leg muscles using implants made of pig bladder tissue.

So what makes this farm animal so valuable for medical research? Outwardly, pigs and people seem drastically different; we share only three scientific classifications, and we certainly don’t look alike.

"If [something] works in the pig, then it has a high possibility of working in the human."

    - Michael Swindle, author of "Swine in the Laboratory"

It just so happens that, despite our differences, many of the pig’s biological systems are very similar to our own.

“They have a number of anatomic and physiologic similarities to humans in different systems,” Dr. Michael Swindle, retired veterinary researcher and author of “Swine in the Laboratory,” said in an interview. “They are what’s known as a translational research model, so if [something] works in the pig, then it has a high possibility of working in the human.”

According to Swindle, many of the pig’s organ systems are 80 to 90 percent similar to the corresponding systems in humans – both in anatomy and function. The system that matches up best may be the cardiovascular system, as a pig’s heart is about the same size and shape as a human heart. Pigs develop atherosclerosis – artery plaque buildup – in the same way that humans do, and they react similarly to myocardial infarction, the classic heart attack.

Because of these similarities, scientists have long used pigs to test interventional catheter devices and methods of cardiovascular surgery, as well as to understand how the heart works in general. And tissues derived from pig hearts have been used to replace defective heart valves in humans, lasting upwards of 15 years in the human body.

Beyond their closely related hearts and blood vessels, another characteristic humans and pigs share is their diet. Both eat meat and plants to survive.

“The pig is a true omnivore like we are,” Swindle said. “It can eat and drink anything. And because of this, the physiology of digestion and the metabolic processes in the liver are also similar to humans. They’re used in a lot of dietary type of studies, as well as oral absorption studies of drugs.”

The similarities don’t stop there. Pig kidneys are comparable in size and function to human kidneys, lending themselves to renal research. And pigs have been one of the standard plastic surgery models for decades, as their skin wounds heal similarly to humans’ skin.

And there’s more. Diabetics who needed daily insulin injections relied on pork insulin until the 1980s, when manufacturers started making biosynthetic insulin through recombinant DNA technology. The insulin-producing cells in a pig’s pancreas are similar to humans’, so a significant amount of research on diabetes has been aimed at isolating those cells and harnessing them for future treatments.

No one really knows why the organs and anatomical systems of pigs are so similar to humans. Swindle theorizes that millions of years ago, they were even more similar, but then the species diverged genetically and independently developed similar characteristics through evolution.

“Along the evolutionary tree, my own personal belief is that they were true omnivores, so the metabolism and hormones that go along with being an omnivore may have led them on a pathway that gave them these similar characteristics [to humans],” Swindle said.

Because of these striking similarities in organ systems and the growing problem of donor organ shortages, pigs have been targeted as potential heart and lung donors for humans. Though primates such as baboons and chimpanzees are more closely related to humans, pigs provide a more attractive option for organ donation, as they are much more readily available and are already used for food.

“For another organ source, if you use a different species, they have to be available in large numbers and they have to be ethically acceptable,” said Dr. Soon Park, division chief of cardiac surgery for University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland.

“So if it’s something like the baboon, we may be closer to them than to pigs, but there are some ethical and moral issues there, and they are probably not acceptable for use. They’re also hard to raise in large numbers.”

Transplanting pig organs into humans – a process known as xenotransplantation – has been difficult, as the presence of pig organs causes the human immune system to go into hyperacute rejection. But with the success of the NIH’s study on pig-to-primate organ transplantation, pigs are once again being considered as a potentially viable option for transplants.

So in the world of medicine, it’s likely the pig’s popularity will only continue to rise.

Yes MZ is right, Why you eat anything that has bad content in it? Are you going to Separate both the good and bad things before eating it?
....

Many people separate eggs yellow from white, then only eat the white.

Many people only eat certain cuts of chicken.

Many people separate fat from meat with beef before eating it.

Why separate fat from meat?  Because the animal has fat reserves so that it can survive a long harsh winter.

Ever tried to butcher and eat a bear?

Then you would know.

Anyway, all you are doing is defending a line of code in a system of human programming from 1400 years ago.  It is an imperfect system.

Otherwise it would handle the problem of iodine deficiencies in Muslim nations.

The things you mentioned above are not disease causing. Like you mentioned egg and other things seperation these are not harmful. If they are not seperated.
Who said muslim.nations has iodime deficiencies. There are many other things to full fill iodine requirements.

No, that is just your point of view.  I have friends who think the yellows is harmful.  Their opinion is as valid to me as yours on pork (meaning I don't pay attention to either one!)

Pigs are primary carriers of:

• Taenia solium tapeworm
• Hepatitis E virus (HEV)
• PRRS (Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome)
• Nipah virus
• Menangle virus

Each of these parasites and viruses can lead to serious health problems that can last for years to come.

Sources:

• Science Direct (1999)
• Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (2007)
• Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (2010)
• A few other sites.

And you said "I have friends who think the yellows is harmful" Its not the logic.

Pigs being the primary carrier of something does not mean they all have it. The human form of the AIDS virus is carried primarily by humans, but do you have AIDS? Do you avoid all humans because some might carry this virus? To avoid pigs on the basis that there exists certain viruses which they primarily carry is not the same as avoiding them because they all carry it.

And everything you eat can lead to a disease. Are you prohibited from having fat? Fat leads to heart disease. Sugar? Diabetes. Salt? Hypertension. Unless you're eating a strictly vegan diet, anything you eat can lead to some type of disease. The prohibition on pork because it can be bad for you is logically faulty, as you're surely eating many other things that are just as likely to cause some other disease, which is apparently fine by your religion.

I doubt when your religion was taking into consideration whether or not pork was allowed, they considered any of these reasons. Just about every one of the reasons listed in this article are contemporary matters that did not exist 1400 years ago.

Probably what happened was something like people noticed health problems in villages that ate pork, over a long period of time this came to be a rule - First in Judaism, later Islam simply followed that.  Not dissimilar to the way that rules about incest developed because people noticed problems with the offspring.  IIRC.

Essentially one could characterize the current attitude about pork as "rejection of new findings/facts without consideration to their truth."

Such an attitude would retard progress in science, medicine and technology.

Religion s just a means to connect to the universe or superhuman, it hasn't thought to kill,plunder,rape,annihilate..etc but in Islam there is a passage that you can react with force if unreasonably provoked by a person or group. So in a broader sense it means if you or your people should be attacked ,expect it it back. and if you look at it,it's perfectly reasonable to that in real life as well, not necessary you have to be a muslim.

Secret Life of Egyptian Pigs

CAIRO— Pigs once played an important economic role for Cairo's Coptic Christians, and helped keep the capital clean. Now, after a controversial culling, they are making a return.

A city of 18 million people produces a lot of trash. Much of Cairo's ends up in a Coptic Christian enclave called Garbage City, where people recycle just about everything. Lately, they are getting help from a secret source.

Tucked behind mountains of trash and a wall of flies is a pen full of pigs - the ultimate in organic waste management - and they are making a small, clandestine comeback.

The government ordered all pigs killed in 2009 saying they posed a health hazard, even though world health officials disagreed. Yet some farmers managed to help their stock escape culling.

Few Egyptians acknowledge they are here. But those in charge of recycling argue their importance.

Adel Ragi, who is on the board of the garbage collectors union. explained that non-human organic waste makes up half of Egypt's garbage. "The pig gets rid of it."

Since the culling, Cairo has become far dirtier. Foreign companies have been hired to handle some of the trash, but Ragi said their methods of dumping waste in landfills is much worse for the environment.

Economically, the culling left thousands of pig farmers without jobs. And only a few butchers remain, relying on expensive imports that have cut down on their customer base.

Christians are free to eat pork, and farmers have built a new slaughterhouse in hope the trade will be revived. But the government has yet to approve it.

Butcher Saiid Hakim said officials tell them to be patient, which makes him wonder if the government is against approving the new facility. "We can't understand not having the slaughterhouse," he said,  "because pigs are here."

Father Samaan Ibrahim, of the St. Samaan church carved into the hills above Garbage City, thinks he knows why a Christian custom is suppressed in a Muslim-majority land.

They consider pigs unclean, he said, calling it "a form of blind intolerance."

He denied there are pigs in Garbage City, but sees no reason there should not be.

He asked what is wrong with pigs - they are God's creations. He asked that those who work with pigs and eat them be left in peace.

In some ways, the pigs are being left in peace. Even though the current government has a strong Islamist bent, it has not been able to exert much control over basic regulations. So the pigs will likely carry on - as long as they stay out of sight.

Islam doesn't hate people. It hates religion.

Religion is imbedded in everyone. It has to do with the life that a person lives. That's his religion.

It is religion that Islam is going after. It seeks to make itself the dominant religion in the hearts, minds, and eyes of all people.

Islam loves people it can draw into itself. Why? Because it can teach them a false way of gaining Heaven, and thereby destroy them. But it isn't really them that Islam hates and wants to destroy. It is their religion.

Possibly more than any other religion, Islam hates atheism, which won't even capitalize its main church word, "atheism," because atheism is trying to deny even itself.

Atheists don't hate religion. They simply want to impose their religion on everyone else, same as most other religions.

They are more forceful than many other religions at doing this. But they need to take lessons from Islam if they want to be exceedingly forceful at it.

Same line, What you want to say?
To which religion you belongs to?

It is obvious you are doing

#1. Tells Islam is bad.
#2. Spread hatred.
#3. Islam draws people into false heave.
#4. Essentially conclude, Christianity draws people to actual heaven.
#5. Come to Christianity.

* I have no problem with Christians or Christianity.

I agree with this and assure you that it is not the method or the belief of most Christians.

Neither is it effective.

Not in the least.

Those of us with a secular or atheist orientation have been hit on many times by this sort of "Christian."

I know one thing for a fact about religion.  Nobody walked around 2000 years ago instructing people to be annoying and abusive to others.

The main part of the word "Christianity" is Christ. Without the New Testament, there probably would not be an emphasized "Christ" in the world, and probably no Christians.

The point? The whole of Christianity revolves around the thing that the Christ did for people when He died on the cross and arose from the dead. He took the punishment for all the mistakes that were ever made by all mankind. That's all Christianity is really for, even though some "Christians" are using it for political purposes, or for excuses for living a bad life.

To put this into more modern language, Jesus took all the pain for all the mistakes and accidents that everyone has made, ever, since the world began.

Why do we still feel pain? Yes, it seems like we do. But it will all be gone at death, never to return, or even be remembered. For most of us, that will take only 100 years or less.

Christianity is diametrically opposed to Islam. Islam says that God saves without the sacrifice that Jesus made.

Atheism doesn't even have the strength to recognize the existence of God.
