Indeed, if we bet a large amount, our wins will also be large.
But is there a guarantee that if you bet a large amount, you will "definitely" win? Nothing right?
So if you are wise, you will not bet large amounts but only in moderation because gambling is not a place to make money but only for fun.
Reward for win bet depends on your input capital for that bet and the given odds for it. Of course, if you bet big, when you win, you will get big reward. However, there is another way to win big, bet small but choose high risk of loss with too high odds.

Basically, don't bet if you don't afford to lose your money, no matter it is big or small capital. If you are ready to bet, you should afford to lose it. The rich bet big and the poor bet small.

The wise gambler choose low odds to manage risk better and accept small win reward. It does not mean you always win if you choose low odds to bet, but it reduces risk of loss.

In the past, Leicester City in Premier League season 2015 - 2016 is a very interesting case for gamblers.

What is the biggest ever football bet?
Quote
The biggest single football bet ever landed was on the famous 5,000/1 offered by bookmakers on Leicester City winning the Premier League in 2015-16.

Claudio Ranieri’s men pulled off one of the biggest sporting shocks in history by winning the title, with one punter making over £72,000 from a £50 stake after cashing out in March.

Had the punter let his bet run for just a few more weeks, it would have paid out at £250,000.

Another backer of the 5,000/1 price, Leigh Herbert of Leicester, placed £5 on the unlikely event and cashed out £2 of that for £5,600 before the remaining £3 returned £15,000 in May – a total windfall of £20,600.
1102  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Btc mining or staking crypto? on: April 06, 2023, 10:21:13 AM
I plan on investing in the crypto space, but for long term. Between mining and staking, which one would be a better option?
It is better if your choice is Bitcoin.

With Bitcoin, let's get started by considering two options: Investing and Mining.

Mining is not as simple as you think and it requires inputs like ASICs, cheap enough electricity power source, location for your farm, human resources to config and observe ASIC operations as well as for maintenance. You should have technical knowledge to self-solve technical problems to save your time. And some other things like deep budget to survive through mining capitulation when market is very bad.

Investing is most easily thing to do. Just buy bitcoin and store it in non-custodial (self-custodial) wallet. Hold and wait it till days you can take profit.
1103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon CEO of Chase Bank on Banking Crisis on: April 06, 2023, 04:50:44 AM
Quantitative easing and dollar printing should stop at once.
Those things won't disappear in global economy. I use the word disappear to emphasize that it will exist in global economy forever. Stop, halt are kind of temporary not forever. Money printing and Quantitative Easing (QEs) are how global economy boosted by inflation created by governments and central banks.

Quote
You get money at a certain interest rate, and you lend that money to the businesses and commoners like us and earn the spread. So when you cost of raising funds increases, banks must not invest that money into low-ticket treasury bonds. You don't earn spreads. The situation worsens because FEB kept on increasing interest rates without thinking about the consequences.
You can earn interest with traditional low interest rate but when the rate is overheated, it leads to Inverted Yield Curve which is a main cause of bank collapse. SvB, Signature and other banks' collapses recently are latest examples for impacts from Inverted Yield Curve.

I believe those CEOs, CFOs do know about Inverted Yield Curve and its impacts but they were fooled by FED months ago as in many press conferences, they stated that interest rate won't be increased.

Fed holds interest rates steady near zero, says economy is still well below pre-pandemic levels (Nov 2020).
1104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microstrategy bought more bitcoin on: April 05, 2023, 02:15:39 PM
According to MicroStrategy Bitcoin Holdings Chart & Purchase History, they owns 140,000 bitcoins as of April 5, 2023. The average purchase price was $29,803 per bitcoin with a total cost of $4.17 billion USD.

You can visit the link to see detailed table for their purchases in BTC purchased, amount, total bitcoin, total dollars and when they made those purchases.

However, you decide how your investment ends. If you can not hold your bitcoins, you will be more easily gotten loss rather than profit. Because you will have to sell your bitcoins even when you don't actually want to sell it but unfortunately you must do it.

To sum up, look at institutional investor activities is good as it can give you insights about their plans and possibly next trends of market. However, it is not enough can useless if you don't have good plans for yourself.

After 2 months, it continued (with slightly less spam).
Less spam because most active spammers were banned and the campaign was managed by yahoo62278 after all. He blacklisted many spammers from that campaign and rejected to pay for spam posts.

It is estimation that is certainly not correct!

Estimation is based on many assumptions which can be true or untrue in reality. I made my estimation in the past and you can use similar methodology to make your estimations with latest on-chain data and UTXO bands you want to use.

My estimation 3 years ago.

If you move further by use deduction for potential lost bitcoin (from 2+-year inactive addresses. It is about 21.66% (in March 2020) of circulating supply or ~ 4010329 BTC (I used 21.66% and today circulating supply to estimate lost BTC).

Why after next year's halving, the next are as follows;
2028 = 1.5625  BTC
2032 = 0.78125  BTC
2036 = 0.390625  BTC
2040 = 0.1953125  BTC
2044 = 0.09765625  BTC
2048 = 0.048828125  BTC
2052 = 0.0244140625  BTC
2056 = 0.01220703125  BTC

1107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Electrum backup question on: April 04, 2023, 02:32:39 PM
I found some electrum wallet backups on a usb stick I found,I loaded them into electrum and it asks for the password
Password was set up by you in the past and its role is to protect your wallet file. You and others can only access private keys in that wallet file if you have the wallet password.

Quote
I just want to see a balance
You can only see it if you successfully access that wallet file by your password or if you have its public address to check it on Bitcoin block explorers or import it to have a Watch-only wallet. It seems you don't have anything of such.

Quote
if there is anything worth while in them then I can worry about finding my old password,I used the same password but with different numbers at the end so it is do-able but I don't want to start this process unless I know there is some btc in there.

Can I do this,see the balance of the backup somehow,I don't know the seed or the wallet number but can figure out the password if there something there,I know with unknown btc wallet backup's you load them into qt and can see the wallet number and balance but I can't seem to figure out how to do this with the electrum backup.
Only one option, brute force your wallet password but chance to succeed depends on complexity of your password and how many key characters you remember as well as computational power of your computer used for brute-forcing process.
Are you passwords in the green?. If your password is in the green, chance to brute-force it is silm.  Smiley
1108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN SUPPLY LIMIT on: April 04, 2023, 02:23:21 PM
What you will consider is the bitcoin mining hash rate global distribution we are having, are they adequately enough to evenly satisfy the demands on bitcoin supply, are there currently challenges facing this global hash rate on bitcoin mining, how many countries and geopolitical locations are we having bitcoin miners, are they much enough to satisfy the demand on the required rate, many things had to be considered here before drawing into conclusion.
First, let's talk about your writing and grammar. Your English is not bad but you should improve it, especially grammar that temporarily damages what you want to express. I can guess what you want to discuss but improvement should be made.  Wink
  • Grammarly.com. I advise you to use this one together with Grammar book

Second, you misunderstand about how Bitcoin blockchain works, how difficulty is set up to retarget. Hashrate on the network can rise or fall but difficulty retarget algorithm is always in place to do its task every 2016 blocks (which is about 14 days).

Bitcoin network's Total hash rate (TH/s). Choose all to see how it has risen with time. Then see how Network difficulty adjusted in history with some deep falls.

If you want to discover some reasons behind this (like flood season in China mainland, mining crackdown), explorer in my topic

A cool tool for Difficulty estimator is helpful for you to recognize that Bitcoin network can operate fine with either increasing or decreasing total hash rate.

Newcastle deserves to win this match. They played with such determination, which making them the superior team on the pitch. But, what impressed me a lot about their solid defense, that prevented the opposition from scoring any goals throughout the match. Man United's performance was quite underwhelming and did not live up to expectations. They were outplayed by Newcastle, and frankly, they deserved to lose by an even larger margin. Newcastle has now moved above Man United in the standings and claimed the third spot in the league.
Newcastle United deserves to win it with their performance.

This defeat pulls Manchester United back to reality that they are not strong enough as clubs which can win 3 or 4 titles in a single seasons. They are very dominating teams in those seasons but it is rarely seen and those clubs have to sacrifice unimportant competitions. Manchester United are opposite as they are not too dominating strong but they did not sacrifice any competition. Weeks ago, they hope to win 5 titles and now they will have to face with reality that they even can lose a position in top four.

Unlike Manchester United who played as if they were on training ground.
There was no force. There was no motivation, that is not known for Manchester United.
The attack was just like neutral or it never existed. The only person that spiced up Manchester United game was Anthony martial who entered somehow late because of his injury. I think Eric the Manchester United should not relax. He is having many under-performing players in the ditch such as Weghorst and Co.
Manchester United and Ten Hag will have difficult matches with Sevilla in Europa League too. In recent weeks, Manchester United look to touch their best form in this season after that they started to fall down. Will they be about to recover and avoid losing top four and failing in other competition. A few more matches will decide this season for Manchester United and hopefully they won't end this like Arsenal in the past season.

my old thread and taking a few pieces of advice. It is not worthless to be here at all.
Is it better if you update those stats, charts in your old thread that is locked now?

It would be more easily for readers to follow how you started with "Bitcoin accepted here" for your business and how it grew with time. If you continue this trend, you will create many topics like other topics for "6-month statistics", "1-year statistics" and "n-year statistics" for (Bitcoin payment success) like that user

@theymos launched the official Bitcointalk ICO in 2018. However, you're pretty lucky. It's still running and you can still buy some coins, if you want.

Just check the official announcement thread: [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT
It is an educational ICO from theymos to warn Bitcointalk members about scam ICOs especially at highest hype with ICO in 2017 and 2018.

Many forum members actually felt great with this ICO at the first glance. Honestly I fell into this fooled ICO from theymos as well but later I realized that theymos did creatively educated us about scam projects and how scammers team will use influencers, too good to be true offers to scam investors.

(It's guaranteed profit btw. And that's why all the Legendary members drive lambos ofc.)

If the forum is to launch a coin what will it be use for ??
It would be a mean to convert merit points to something you can sell on exchanges.
1113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: April 02, 2023, 02:25:40 PM
And shortly after there is a match between Manchester United and Newcastle. Newcastle are currently performing exceptionally well, creating great enthusiasm among the team's players. I am slightly concerned that Manchester United will lose this match. However, the match will be highly competitive and there is a possibility of a draw.
Newcastle United have grown a lot in the past season and this one. In this season, they impressively got very limited defeats in Premier League. They used to hold a third position very long time before losing it to Manchester United. I don't think they will have good chance to get that position back but top four is their target in this season.

In this match Manchester United will not have Casemiro who is one of most important pieces in their squad. He cam le and made their midfield stronger which is a foundation for Manchester United success in this season. Without Casemiro, Manchester will have more issues with attacking from Newscatle United.

At the end of the day, the market will find the equilibrium and some miners will definitely stop mining due to mining costs, the question is whether the security of the network is good enough to sustain the network when that does happen. Considering how the BTC hashrate keeps rising though, I doubt we'll see that happen in the near future. CMIIW.
Miners who are newbies in Bitcoin mining industry and joined when price was around all time high and don't have enough (experience of course, I skip it) deep budget to cover cost in bearish months or worse borrow to buy ASICs, supplementary equipments to set up and operate their farms, will have to capitulate in a long bear market.

It's what we saw some times in this industry, miner capitulation. Fortunately, it is one of good signals that bear market mostly touches its bottom range.
