Before introducing Bitcoin to someone, it's important to explain its uses, such as its ability to facilitate borderless transactions without the need for a third party. You should also explain how Bitcoin works and its volatility, including possible losses and how the price fluctuates. When discussing the topic of "pump and dump," it's important to explain the reasons behind it.
It's also important to emphasize that Bitcoin always exists as a set quantity. For example, if you buy 1 Bitcoin, it will always exist as 1 Bitcoin, but its value will fluctuate. It's crucial to make them understand that no one controls the price of Bitcoin - it's all about supply and demand.
By explaining these concepts to them, they will be less likely to regret their decision later or ask questions about a bear market.
For me this is essential, knowing what Bitcoin can offer me and secondary to that is the investment aspect. I would snobbishly only consider a person a true Bitcoiner when they have an interest in Bitcoin other than its ROI or they have a long term outlook. I dont consider anyone with a "get rich quick" or only interested in Bitcoins market value to be Bitcoiners. The OP has only focussed on "The price" and "The market" and "Investment", Bitcoin has a lot more to offer, its just a pity that it seems they are overlooked even when explaining Bitcoin.

In case some of you missed this: Canada's Leylah Fernandez suffered a 6-3, 6-4 loss to 15-year-old Mirra Andreeva in the first round of the Madrid Open on Wednesday. The Russian teen, ranked 194th in the world, needed just an hour and 16 minutes to upset the 49th-ranked Fernandez. Spectacular performance from a Russian teen. Quite an easy win against a GS runner-up! Definitely future TOP10 material! Another talented teen Brenda Fruhvirtova lost to Kalinskaya in 3 sets: 6:2, 4:6, 4:6. Impressive win! And it seems she is continuing the winning strike since she has won also against Beatriz Haddad Maia (number 14 WTA/13 on Madrid seed). The Russian teen is definitely a player to follow... hoping that she will be able to confirm itself in the next few years... and to cope to a lot of pressure Yeah I watched the match: the Brazilian looked completely helpless. And note that Mirra wasn't using defensive play most juniors are trying to use against WTA stars in their first matches on tour. Instead she was playing aggressively, lots of winners and Haddad Maia actually struggled to return her serve. In fact, this is one of the best performances by a player so young ever. She is in R3 of 1000 series Masters tournament! At 15yo! In R3 she is going to face Linette or Vondrousova and from what I've seen so far she can beat either of them two. Thats an unbelievable result from her again, impressive also to be able to back up that win over Fernandez and beat a strong player as Haddad Maia. Definitely at this stage one to watch and for next round should be interesting to see how she goes against Linette. On the mens side there was a bit of an upset today with the Italian Vavassori beating Murray, that would have been a great bet to take on Vavassori I'd say. I'd say Murray is very close to retiring or waiting for the Grass season.

Union European Champions Cup Rugby This weekend we have the Semi-Finals of the Heineken Champions Cup. Its possible there could be an all French final although I think the chances are slim. I am picking the two home sides Leinster and La Rochelle and I will probably put a bet on Leinster for the title before the game at the weekend. League NRL First game of R9, Sharks devour the Cowboys 44-6, I dont get it, there was literally no contest, Cowboys scored 1 converted try on the 34th minute. I missed it altogether and I wonder what the odds were on the Sharks??

As regards the one time GS finalist's Raducanu and Fernandez - they havent exactly been lighting up the Tennis courts since their US final appearance. Leylah has had a better doubles results than singles results though. On the mens side in Madrid, both Gasquet and Wawrinka have come through their matches easily enough yesterday. Bit of an upset yesterday but not a massive surprise was Schwartzman being beaten by Grenier, I remember looking at the odds and seeing Diego being favourite and also knew he was not in great form lately but I didnt bet on the match.

Do you consider that kind of addiction dangerous and not good?
While reading your post, I'm kind of thinking "getting addicted into investing is good because it's like you are preparing for the future if you're investing" right? On the other hand, I'm also thinking that "Is there any addiction that is beneficial to a person?" Getting addicted into investing is good as long as you aren't affecting somebody's life. Getting addicted into investing will only be good if you aren't a newbie, and you know which assets are good to invest and which are the ones you need to avoid. Investing addiction will only be good if you aren't affected either physically or mentally. Getting addicted into investing will only be good if you aren't preventing yourself from buying things that you need on a daily basis thus, it isn't good for you. Overall, getting addicted into investing has some things that you need to consider in order for it to be beneficial for the investor. I guess this is the only type of addiction that has benefits to a person? Or not? TBH, it's the first time that I've ever heard about this term. Good point LogitechMouse, is there indeed any addiction which is beneficial to us? Probably not. Getting addicted to investing contradicts the teaching that we shouldnt invest more than we can afford to lose. On the other hand its easy to see how someone could get addicted to Bitcoin investing when the benefits of Bitcoin itself are examined - it kind of seems like a no-brainer... so long as it doesnt cause other negative consequences financially

Splitting hairs a bit but you are not 'off gird' at least by the conventional US way of thinking about it and describing it. Here off grid, tends to mean, no internet, no computer, no phone and nothing like BTC, no power except what is 100% critical and not much else. It would be a cash / barter existence. Possibly an pre-paid flip phone for emergencies.
What you seem to be doing seems to be more of a no fixed location thing / nomadic thing. At least from how you seem to be describing it. Again, different terms from different countries.
Using the nomadic description, I know a couple of people who do that. Both retired living on pensions and such. Get up whenever they feel like it, drive the camper to wherever they want and then do whatever seems interesting at that point in time.
The seem to enjoy it, but it's not something I could do. My idea of 'roughing it' is a hotel with only basic cable and minimal free breakfast bar.
Neither of them are into crypto, but if they were 20+ years younger (my age) I could see them using BTC. But for now, that would involve trading and buying and using and that would interfere with their whatever / wherever lifestyle.
-Dave
Its probably technically not off grid but its very very close. My understanding of being off grid is pretty much as you describe as well as being self sufficient in terms of food but its very difficult to not be connected in some way or another. I envy you Jetcash it not easy to live such a lifestyle (offgrid independent) In between I hope where ever you are is safe too.
Acknowledging that you are part of the conventional community even in crypto-currency, but you also must have to acknowledge that mining bitcoin has also grown and become very much sophisticated both in the software and hard ware aspect. Where do one stand using such tools you have with the ever competitive mining system.
Using solar panels and batteries to generate energy is also linking anyone to conventional society IMO. Off grid could technically mean travelling back to pre industrial revolution to shun all technology, then again what is technology? everything we have used since our existence is technology. @ Jet Cash - this year I hope to take a big step closer to being partially off grid, clear my debts and take a step away from politics and banking. I have already started the process!

Well unfortunately not all top sports people get to choose the time or location of their retirement and like yourself I fear this will be the case with Nadal. It isnt looking like he will have much of a clay season to prepare for Roland Garros but really as long as he is in the tournament he is a dangerous opponent for everyone. By that I mean that his skill level and experience will still be potent weapons.
I agree also that with every passing week that he isnt playing makes me doubtful he will be playing in 2024 or certainly 2025.

Djokovic missing Madrid is big news. And this is a chance for Alcaraz to become number 1 again. Djokovic has only 365 points more. After Rune won the match in Munich, I am looking forward to seeing him in Madrid. I am also looking forward to see Zverev. I hope he will reache the round of 16. There he will meet Alcaraz and certainly end the tournament. But it would be an opportunity for him to compete with the upcoming number 1. I think its great not having Djokovic or Nadal playing, it leaves room for the likes of Sinner, Rune, Alcaraz, Zverev, Rublev and Medvedev to get that little bit further, and actually everyone else who might have met them in the rounds. Also its nice to see others who are making names for themselves, Fritz, Lajović and Musetti for example. For me there are two to watch tomorrow, Wawrinka plays Cressy and Gasquet plays Landaluce, would like to see both veterans come through their matches.

$70k or $80k is a very conservative price, the vast majority of us believe Bitcoin will go far past those prices.
What I plan to do? I dont have any specific plans other than to HODL. To be able to use it in the future when it is absolutely needed is peace of mind. Ideally it would be nice to be in a position to be able to buy items needed directly with Bitcoin rather than having to involve exchanges and FIAT.
Hopefully that will be something for the future.

Ah I was wondering why there were 2 very late games this round.
I know of ANZAC day but would know the exact details of it. I do know the brutality and seemingly senseless and massive loss of life in the great war overall, wouldnt you think it would have served as an example how not to resolve differences?
As an aside I used to watch "The Sullivans" growing up. (set around WWII)
For tuesdays games I'm thinking Roosters and Storm but I'm not sure I'll make those bets...bith are favourites but have had mixed results so far.

Djokovic missing Madrid is big news. Its amazing how a simple incident which causes an injury can compound on top of other things within a season, he missed Indian Wells because of visa rows and now an injury, his season so far has been disrupted.
I wonder if this is a worrying thing for Djokovic and his career, is this the start of his final years?
As regards Madrid, the threat of Djokovic has been removed so I'm sure the other top seeds will fancy their chances even more!
Alcaraz has to be big favourite

Firstly drop in the price of Bitcoin helps strengthen the Bitcoin ecosystem by making impatient holders sell their Bitcoin hodlings to others who understands Bitcoin better
I agree on this. This is always whatI’m thinking whenever the price of Bitcoin drop significantly. It’s a normal correction since we reach 30K from below 15K last year. I think having a 100% growth within a year is already a good achievement for us to less worried on simple price drop like this. ...and when the markets start rising again past the point at which they sold their Bitcoin it teaches them that they either should have bought back at a lower price or never sold in the first place! Firstly drop in the price of Bitcoin helps strengthen the Bitcoin ecosystem by making impatient holders sell their Bitcoin hodlings to others who understands Bitcoin better
It will help those that have long wanted to join the Bitcoin ecosystem quite encouraged to purchase Bitcoin
It will help capable hodlers reduce Bitcoin spending to in turn help increase demand and value
First, I have to point out that this isn't a "drop", "fall", "decline" etc. This is merely a correction, a tiny one. Anyone, who has been in Bitcoin long enough will tell you that. There's no "bearish sentiment", in fact, we're climbing back up already. So keep calm and have some patience - you will be rewarded for that! ...and this "correction" was due like the rise which will follow this fall. Its funny how the Bitcoin price always have to "correct" to a lower price and never in the opposite direction!

My take on Defi is that it there will be a third party, someone or institution who creates whatever service is designed. This obviously goes against everything Bitcoin was invested for.
The potential for corruption and scams is there once a third party is involved, also being a third party allows them to act the same as any FIAT based institution.
Look what happened to Celsius for example.

A brief overview of today's finals: Lajovic v Rublev 6:3, 4:6, 6:4 Rune v v.d.Zandschulp 6:4, 1:6, 7:6 Alcaraz v Tsitsipas 6:3, 6:4 Alcaraz v Tsitsipas was the shortest and least interesting final. Carlitos was simply too good, Tsitsipas didn't stand a chance. I think he won several games just with dropshot winners! Lajovic v Rublev is a bit unexpected, but Lajovic beating Nole was quite unexpected too and I guess Lajovic deserved it. Lajovic beating Rublev was the biggest news of finals day! Its actually nice to see a player back up their win from top seeded players and go as far as he did. All too often we see a lower ranked player beating a top seed and in the following match to get beaten, maybe thats the mentality side of Tennis, the belief! Rune to beat van de Zandschulp was to be expected as was Alcaraz to beat Tsitsipas.

I hope that Alcaraz stays healthy now for a very long time. I wish we can have another superstar on the rise. That is what makes sports so interesting to watch. In Formula 1 it once was Michael Schumacher who made the sport interesting to me because I always wanted to know whether now there is somebody who can stop him. Injuries destroy the competition when it happens to younger players with amazing talent. I am not so much talking about the older generation because that is normal, although I would love to see a Djokovic in perfect shape against an Alcaraz in perfect shape at all four GS tournaments within one year. Those two players against each other at their peak, but I doubt that we will really get the possibility to observe such a head to head anymore.
Every sport has his stars and maybe every decade there is absolute superstar that really dominates the field and that people will still talk about even if it is years ago. Tennis has had the luck that they 3 absolute superstars at the same time who stayed in good condition throughout the years. Alcaraz is one of the young stars in tennis right now, but only the future will tell if he can become a legend. and Alcaraz v Tsitsipas should be a very interesting matchup, cant believe Tsitsipas has made it to the final. and Rublev v Lajovic is looking like a 3 setter, would love to see Rublev winning again but I imagine the odds on Lajovic had great odds.

Cowboys v Knights - that looks to have been an epic battle of sorts with the Cowboys coming out on top 18-16 and scoring the last points of the game in the 66th minute - with the remaining 14 attack/defend by both!
Union URC
Re: Vodacom Bulls v Leinster - The bookies had their odds correct, the Bulls were indeed worth their favourite status winning by a whopping 62 - 7.
Cant understand who that Leinster team can beat the Lions last week and not show up yesterday.

|

I have a $ on the Knights @ 2.37, Can the Cowboys pick up their season or are they in real trouble... we will see shortly!
Currently it is looking like the Sharks are likely winners, its only 22" gone and its 8-16.
Union - URC
Just looking at the odds for todays games in the final round of the URC and Leinster are a massive 5.0 away to 7th placed Vodacom Bulls in South Africa. They have been there last week and beat the Lions by 3 points. Its a kind of second tier Leinster team which is there, meaning there are no experienced current internationals in the squad, Its a great opportunity for a $ bet on the team which is unbeaten in both the URC and Heineken Cup this season...
I've also gone another $ on a +11.5 handicap on them @2.11

Meh, missed it (sleeping is bad for auction success). If anyone wants a quick flip on one of the sheet-packs (ot 3 - 9) shoot me a quick dm. Cograts to the winners and tweety for catching the original. Dammit - looked in on this at about 7pm forum time and meant to come back in closer to finish time....sleep again being the enemy of auctions. Anyway I would also second K's offer, send me a DM too. Congrats to the winners!

Thats an amazing win by the Rabbitohs over the Panthers, In all Rugby codes place kicking is unbelievably important, I've said it before that I have seen it before where games have been won solely by the penalty points kicked by the Fly-Half No.10 Rugby Union
And an even bigger win IMO by the Broncos over the Eels and as the away team. The Broncos have proven to be a serious outfit. Great win over the Eels 16-26
Two good picks Timelord!

Back over in Barcelona its Quarter final time and the first match is a replay of the Monte Carlo Quarter Final between Musetti and Sinner, Sinner is favourite there and will meet the winner of de Minaur v Tsitsipas.
Tsitsipas is big favourite but hasnt been playing well as others have mentioned, so either way Sinner should beat de Minaur or Tsitsipas to set up a final with Alcaraz who has an easier route to the final.
So yea I fancy de Minaur's chances against Tsitsipas @ 4.1
