1521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 01, 2023, 07:57:05 PM
First of all, its not a smart thing to share image of your wife's jewelry (some pieces stand out quite a lot) because you never know who is reading this.
No problem, I might sell all my wife's jewelery in a day or two.Talked to two customers and they agreed to buy jewellery.

At present I am forced to sell my wife's jewelery as I have no fiat money
And who exactly is forcing you?
It was only necessity that forced me to sell my wife's jewellery.
In 2022 I lost a lot on several investments, most notably $4000 worth of cryptocurrency during the Luna crash and $1500 worth of crypto during the FTX bankruptcy. So right now I don't have enough liquidity in my pocket to invest. So I am forced to sell my wife's hobby jewelry even though it is very difficult.

You made two mistakes previously, investing in $hitcoins and leaving your coins on
an exchange.

So your next move after selling the Jewellery is buy Bitcoin and a Trezor hardware
wallet and take full control of your investment.

On selling Jewellery for Bitcoin - do it, they are only material possesions.

We know gold is very precious metal, but Bitcoin is much more expensive than gold.

Correction::::

We know Gold is very precious, but Bitcoin is more Precious than gold.
1522  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expectations for March?! on: March 01, 2023, 06:38:33 PM
Traditionally March hasnt been the best "green" month for Bitcoin.

https://twitter.com/relai_app/status/1554144928959270912

Personally I think March will be similar to February, we might have some price pumps
but wont be anything substantial, still a bit early for the Bulls, but they are coming !!
Regardless of whether March is not so great to expect price hikes, in reality we still don't know.
I just don't think you should worry enough about short term price volatility because basically not everyone expects short term gains. Even if bitcoin can break below the $20K support, then that will only give long term traders and investors an opportunity to get one more dip to buy.

Just invest and hold on brother, it is one of the best options to prepare yourself for good benefits in the long term. I have had this belief from the start, and it should be shared by other users as well.

Just invest and hold on is indeed a sound plan at this current time. The thread
is already full of speculation but in the end the question was what does each of us
expect for March.

If we expect a green March best buy now
If we expect a red March best buy now

As regards dipping below $20k, its possible but $25k again is also possible.
Personally I wont be holding out to buy below $20.

I think that Alcaraz thought he might have broken Norrie when he won the first set. Great mental performance by Norrie as I guess nobody would have expected him to make a comeback. This could also be a sign that Norrie is on his way to have a great 2023. Beating Alcaraz like that when you are already down one set isn't something everyone can make happen.

This is probably his biggest win in his career so far besides the one he won in Indian Wells, but the lineup wasn't as strong there in 2021.
Eventhough Alcaraz picked up that injury he is actually playing tomorrow in the
Mexican open! It must not have been a serious injury?

Interestingly Norrie is also playing, which makes sense if you are already in that time
zone. As far as I can see they are both on the same side of the draw, definitely two to
watch at Mexico!

Over at Dubai Medvedev and Djokovic are playing today, odds are crap though.

Alcaraz's injury is probably not that serious. Otherwise, the media would have been mad already about it. I am not hearing too much about his injury from the media so far.

Medvedev did win the last match quite convincingly.

Novak Djokovic is playing right now against Machac. He is ahead in this match. So far Novak Djokovic has 1 set won and Machac has 1 set won. The play of the last set is going on right now. It will be interesting to see who win. I am in favour of Djokovic.

Djokovic had a bit of trouble with Machac, he only won the 3rd set on a tie break!

All the usual suspects had wins at Dubai, Medvedev and Felix AA, I watched the
match between Shevchenko and 5th seet Hurkacz, he just about beat Shevchenko
in the 3rd set tie break too.

There are some interesting matches over in Mexico, I have two bets on for later,
Berrettini to beat Molcan, Paul to beat Mmoh and Norrie to beat Mannarino.

Also Alcaraz plays McDonald with 1.41 - not bad but I'm not sure about it....
1525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time is the most valuable thing on: February 28, 2023, 01:40:42 PM
Time!
Our most valuable asset.

I am planning after the next halving to be fully free of work, I have been working the
day job for over 25 years and have very little to show for it.

The stars are aligning in my favour with inflation rising and Bitcoin halving approaching.

Bitcoin will gift me Time, I dont care about flashy things, that is for young people who
dont value time like older generations.

Take note though — bitcoin isn't the only answer. What specifically gave you time is an extra source of income; which in this case is bitcoin's long-term price appreciation. I personally don't think we should stop at buying bitcoin; try other things like starting an online business and such.

Its what Bitcoin can offer and the enlightenment of others
which strengthens Bitcoin
and we all benefit.

I will never quit Bitcoin.

I really did not expect Norrie to beat Alcaraz on clay. Norrie is upping his game, maybe a good dark horse to bet on in the upcoming RG?
We've got Doha next, let's see in what form will Đoković return.

Alcaraz started well in this match. He even won the first set. But Norrie made a really cute comeback in this match. He was able to get the next two sets.

For some reason, I think Alcaraz actually underestimated Norrie. Because otherwise I really do not see how Norrie comes out as the winner of this match. But it was the final.  And in the final, both participants are equally good most of the time.  It was a surprise to me but it is what it is.

Finally it was a win for Cameron Norrie in the Rio Open final match. From the first set the fight have begun and Alcaraz won the set 7-5. The second one was a win for Cameron Norrie winning 6-4, once again Cameron Norrie have won the third set 7-5 after good fight. As you've mentioned this match isn't a walkover and have outlawed the prediction of Alcaraz winning the trophy.
Really a surprising result because it is Alcaraz's favorite surface, in the previous tournament Alcaraz was able to beat Norrie with a convincing score and from the results of the tournament no one thought that Norrie would be able to avenge his defeat on clay tournament, watch Alcaraz highlights seemed pretty certain to get this title because the second set he was already 3-0 up but everything changed and it was amazing comeback from Norrie, what was interesting in the third set was that Alcaraz served under arm and it was good that Norrie was able to get a point from that.

Guys, did you even watch the match? Carlitos got and injury and it's really surprising he didn't withdraw (although it could be seen how painful it was). He won the first set, without any visible health issues (imo he moved a bit slower than he normally does) 7:5 but after that OMG. He was 3:0 ahead in the second and started losing literally point after point. Then he called a physio and it became clear something was troubling him. There were several moments in the match when it looked like he'd be able to turn the tide despite his injury and Norrie was a bit hesitant but still I guess Carlitos was in pain so he didn't succeed.

Anyway, we can only hope Alcaraz will be ok for the clay season and, more importantly RG.  Cool

We dont get to watch all the matches of all the tournaments, we are all in
different time zones!

Yes a bit surprising he didnt pull out, I read that he was having a heavy debate with
the team, im sure that was pull out or not!

A serious concern now ahead of two very important tournaments, Indian Wells and Miami.

I really did not expect Norrie to beat Alcaraz on clay. Norrie is upping his game, maybe a good dark horse to bet on in the upcoming RG?

We've got Doha next, let's see in what form will Đoković return.

Dubai next along with the Miami Open, thats where the majority of the big names are
playing.

Alcaraz was 1.21 yesterday, Norrie was 4.5!

Nobody was giving Norrie a chance, I thought myself that Alcaraz was back to old form
after winning the Argentina open against Norrie.

Looks like these two are level ATM.

Did anyone have a bet on Norrie at those very healthy odds?

On the WTA side I just saw some interesting news this morning, In the Dubai Tennis
Championships Krejčíková beat Swiatek in the final, what looks to be quite easily.
4-6, 2-6. That sends a clear message that Swiatek is beatable.

Have you guys seen the odds for Nadal in the French Open? He is currently $3.50 and the third favourite behind Alcaraz and Novak.

That is crazy. If Nadal is healthy he wins the French Open 100%.

Let's be realistic, Nadal has been injured for a long time and has not been playing at the highest level for some time.
Even when he was playing at the highest level and fully healthy, Nadal was losing matches to Djokovic in Paris so this prediction is not wrong, Djokovic is deservedly the favorite to win that GS.
It is also no coincidence that Alcaraz has been at the top of the tennis rankings for so long and he is the obvious successor to Nadal.
A very uncertain GS awaits us in Paris and I would say that the chances of winning the tournament are equal between these three biggest favorites, with maybe a slight advantage for Nadal if he will be fully healthy and ready.

With over 2 months yet to go before the French GS Its too early to be talking Nadal.
Maybe odds of 3.5 are worth a $2 bet now but I wouldnt be too confident especially
with the form Djokovic is in, and Medvedev being a bit of s threat and Alcaraz returning
to form.
1531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 26, 2023, 08:44:03 AM
Alcaraz seems to have a difficult match in Brazil against a Chilean tennis player. He was 5-3 down and his opponent was allowed to serve for a set win, but he couldn't and now it's 5-4. Due to time difference, many people will not or will not be able to follow this match. Nice to see that ALcaraz is active again, he has now dropped to 2nd place on the ATP ranking list, he has been overtaken by Djokovic. But he has also earned it through his recent tournament victories. It seems that the clay court season has started again in certain countries? There are countries where they only play on clay, of course.

I wonder for the final between Alcaraz v Norrie is a bet on Norrie on? the odds on Rollbit
are Alcaraz 1.2 v Norrie 4.5, I dont think there is as much between them as the odds suggest.

Well done to Medvedev on his second season win, well done to Murray too, I didnt
think he would have made it to the final. This will spur him on in his thinking he can
win a tournament again.

Well TBH I normally play the favourites even with my Tennis bets, doesnt always payout
though, and at times the dead certs fail.

Well done Timelord, that was some spread from Super Rugby, US Rugby and Six Nations.

In the Six Nations Italy ran Ireland close for a bit in the second half but we were able
to pull away in the last Q. We got the bonus point from the game too.

Regarding Wales v England, very frustration game from a vested interest in our Celtic
cousins. England were there to be beaten, Wales had so many chances to score but
as per the other 2 games their visits to the English 22 yielded very little.

The box kicking and kicking in general from Wales wasnt working and England won
on that front, anyway another tough day at the office for Wales

you have to know that 13 years ago Bitcoin was new, it was a concept, viewed as an
experiment, Thousands and thousands of Bitcoin were given away FREE in airdrops
to help promote it so I wouldnt read anything into the sale of 160 Bitcoin. It was what it was
and at a different time.

People are still selling Bitcoin today, will we look back in 13 years from now when Bitcoin
is $1,000,000 and question the actions of today?

Well I have a bet on Wales to win today, a small 0.1mBTC @3.5. I dont think welsh that you
are mad, as previously mentioned Wales do have serious talent and experienced players, I
am figuring they are going to make a statement today after all what happened this week.

Just watching Italy v Ireland and everything is on track for an Irish win early into the second half
eventhough Italy are looking dangerous at times.

As a person from mainland China, it is not easy to come to this forum smoothly and safely, and I won't discuss political issues. My friends around me know about Bitcoin, but many of them do not fully understand and hold Bitcoin, which is regrettable. I try to inform all of my good friends to hold Bitcoin, but it's only a suggestion.
Bitcoin is not every ones cup of coffee and that is perfectly alright. As you have done, you can only suggest to your friends to hold some bitcoin or learn more about it, but the final decision is theirs to make.

You can visit the 中文 (Chinese) local board and discuss with like minded people from your region.
You seem to already have the general idea of how the whole things works and experience dealing with cryptocurrencies. This would make your stay on the forum more meaningful and I look forward to learning more from you and possibly also acquiring 1 whole BTC sometime in the future.

As for my purpose of holding Bitcoin, I do not expect it to skyrocket to a certain price in my mind. I just like it.
Just like when you like a girl or a boy, there is no reason, you just like them.
There technically have to be a reason to throw in $26,000 on an asset besides just liking it... Are you attracted to the freedom it offers or transacting without regulations, or some other feature?

- Jay -

Yes hopefully the OP knows of the benefits of HODLing and using Bitcoin, for example:

Store or wealth
Storing large amounts of wealth relatively inconspicuously
Control of funds 24/7/365
Security of funds when secured and stored correctly
Security of the Bitcoin network
Global transportability of large amounts of funds over all borders

all the above at the same time

Well done to the OP buying 1 Bitcoin is not easy or achievable by the majority of people.
Very good move by the OP.

Well, the players seem to have got what they wanted out of the contract negotiations. They were threatening to forfeit the English game this weekend. So, Wales vs England is still going ahead. We've reduced the cap requirement to be called up, allowing players with less caps in their clubs to play for the national team. Something that WRU put in place, which unfortunately only hurts the Welsh team, since we're a rather small nation to begin with.

Honestly, if I had my way I'd scrap it altogether, and just allow the manager to call up who he thinks his deserving. It'll likely be more experienced lads anyway, but at least it gives some of the youngsters a chance, and we might have some hidden talent which could help us out. You know, when Wales is only around 3 million in population wise, we need all the help we can get to compete in the competitions. Especially, when London alone has more population than our who country.

Anyway, I expect us to lose, but hopefully we get to see some of that hidden talent Wink. We definitely do have some youngsters that were deserving to be called up. Hopefully, that happens now.

Fair play to them anyway, they were definitely being pinched by politics and falling
salaries, not good.

I thought that 60 cap rule was also to do with a player playing outside Wales?
In Ireland we have such a rule, even more restrictive, if a player wants to play for
a club outside Ireland he is welcome to do so but he wont be considered for the
national team unless you are Johnny Sexton

Best example was Simon Szebo of Munster and Ireland, went to play for Racing 92
in France which ended his career for the National team, he was a brilliant winger/full back.

The trouble also with a small population is the pool of players to pick from and Rugby
competes with other sports as it does here in Ireland, the biggest codes are Gaelic Football
and Hurling, then Soccer and Rugby after them.

If the clubs and national team do well the chances are kids at the grassroots level will
be more interested and inspired to choose Rugby.

Putting restrictions on the senior teams only damages the game in the long term.

I've only just been able to place bets on the New Zealand Super Rugby Pacific games for round one.

To win, I'm going with: Crusaders over the Chiefs, Waratahs against the Brumbies, Fijian Drua  to edge out Moana Pasifika, the Blues over the Highlanders in a close match, the Hurricanes will blow over the Reds, while the Western Force will outclass the Rebel Scum.

Its certainly a busy time for Rugby, we are half way through our competitions here
and you lot are starting your seasons there. Too much to keep up with!
1539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: February 23, 2023, 08:04:49 PM
Hard to know what to make of that.  It can't be called Welsh if they're not based in Wales.

Eventhough there are always anomalies and compromises A welsh club amalgamating
with an English one would be "insulting" as Welsh put it.

Anyway the six nations game is a runner for the weekend after a deal was struck and
a compromise made. Its just a pity that it had to come to this and the WRU were not
willing to do a compromise before hand.

Quote
After crunch talks at Wales’s training base between the WRU, the PRB and dozens of players,
confirmation came that the match would be on. The cap rule has not been entirely
scrapped but the threshold has been reduced to 25, players will be offered both
fixed and fixed variable contracts and the WRPA chief executive, Gareth Lewis,
will have a seat on the PRB

I've heard a couple of players have injuries whilst training ahead of next weeks opening round of the NRL.  The Sea Eagles might be on shaky ground already.

Murray beating Zverev is either a very good performance by Murray or a very bad performance by Zverev. I didn't watch the game, but with all issues Murray now had down the road and also his age, how can Zverev lose against him when he otherwise is trying to become a number 1 in the world?

After 8 months of not being able to play in the 2022 French Open due to his injury, it is completely understandable that he still needs time to be back to his old level.

--------------

Agree, Zverev is not fully back to his pre-injury form, that said Murray as one of the commentators
pointed out while I was watching has "court craft" his experience is key, he is able to call on his
skill to make different shots and opportune times and knows when to use them especially when
under pressure.

This will only go so far because another tool which players must have is "fitness", thats mobility,
flexability and stamina which Murray's is compromised.

Christopher to face Medvedev in the next match. Will he able to play same as what he did with Bautista.
I don't think Medvedev will lose against O'Connell it will just be an easy match for Medvedev, O'Connell will probably put up a tough fight later but Medvedev will handle it, and it will be very interesting to see Murray take on Medvedev in the final but before it happened Murray needed to beat Rublev who is the favorite to win here.

Bautista lost against O'Connell. Which was obviously very unexpected. But anyway, the next match is going to be O'Connell vs Medvedev. Medvedev should not lose this match. At this point, it is really hard to actually say anything. Because the last match of O'Connell was also expected to be a loss for him. But he was able to win. I don't think any surprises are going to happen in this match. But there is always a chance for that as well.

Murray vs Rublev is actually going to be much more interesting. Rublev is the one for me to win this match. Of course, there is no 100% chance that he's going to win. I assume that this match is going to be much more competitive compared to the Medvedev one.

Murray v Rublev - im not betting on this one, Rublev can be very unpredictable, but can be
really good. It will be interesting but really I dont expect Murray to progress.
