2001  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Elizabeth Warren and Nancy Pelosi are right on: December 20, 2014, 10:41:29 PM
Money being in politics is not a problem. Having money in politics allows people to make a statement that they agree or disagree with something that is more powerful then just their words. Money allows you to make a statement that can be heard by others (by allowing for tv/radio/print advertisements

It does indeed - but disproportionally more those with money to spend in such efforts, than those who barely scrap by day to day. I mean, it's not a coincidence that policy decisions tend to closely follow the interests of the wealthy, while pretty much disenfranchising the poor and average citizens.

[...] After sifting through nearly 1,800 US policies enacted in that period [policy data collected from between the years of 1981 and 2002] and comparing them to the expressed preferences of average Americans (50th percentile of income), affluent Americans (90th percentile) and large special interests groups, researchers concluded that the United States is dominated by its economic elite.

The peer-reviewed study, which will be taught at these universities in September, says: "The central point that emerges from our research is that economic elites and organised groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on US government policy, while mass-based interest groups and average citizens have little or no independent influence." [...]

Excerpt taken from http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10769041/The-US-is-an-oligarchy-study-concludes.html.

Of course, this isn't to say you necessarily have to remove money from the system entirely - that isn't the idea behind those 2 sites I mentioned (I should have been a bit clearer in my last post). Rather, the idea is to find other ways in which campaign contributions, lobbying, and so on, can be made, that is more representative of the interests of the whole population.

Your rates are very low. You are unlikely going to be able to get many/any people to participate unless you raise your rates substantially.

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0 for a list of current campaigns and their rates. You will need to pay on par with the competition to get anyone to join

I agree. At least for Senior Members, I don't see why any would join this campaign when better paying ones are still open (or soon to be) and taking on members. Further, a restriction of 50% of your posts having to be in Gambling or Beginners & Help, will turn away a lot of users just by itself.

EDIT: After reading it again, it seems only 10 posts a week must be made in Gambling, or Beginners & Help - not too bad, I guess.
2004  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: best sites that gives free bitcoin ? on: December 20, 2014, 07:52:17 AM
hello is there a sites that a give a good amount of bitcoins for free ?

As others here have stated, it will never be a good amount of bitcoins that you will get, or even for free - at the very least, you'll have to spend time. Tongue

But just to add to the suggestions so far - other than faucets, gambling sites, signature campaigns and selling services in the forum, you can also try to make some btc out of games: for example, Goldentowns (http://www.goldentowns.com), Coin Flapper (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=835437.0) for Android, or The Ponz (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=668391.0) also for Android.

So you trust big business more than the government? Look around. The companies are the wolves. I would not trust them with an inch. Hell, they would have slaves operating the internet if not for the government. I'll take my chances with an entity I can depose if need be.

"Too big to fail..." said the government.

How about getting money out of politics? It seems to me that would be a step in the right direction: http://www.wolf-pac.com, or http://www.rootstrikers.org, for example, are working towards that goal. Of course, that wouldn't solve all the problems, but rather create enough of an opening that would give the population a chance to have a greater influence in the whole process.
2006  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [SELL] I want to sell my forum account on: December 20, 2014, 07:06:51 AM
The selling point of this account is that it is from 2011. If you could convince people it wasn't bought, it would be worth a bit. That being said, this thread is proof it was sold, so it is pretty worthless.

wow he could have made this a legendry account by now but he missed

That would still require him/whomever is in control of the account to have posted enough for that to happen - and since the change to the current 14 activity limit every two weeks, with some regularity as well, which not everyone has the time for. So, 2011 or not, there would be no way to regain those activity points now - it's just a normal Junior Member account, now worth less than that, since it's not with the original owner.

Is there space at the moment?

Yes, there are a few spots open, but not for Newbies, I'm afraid - only for Members and Full Members.

Hard, but certainly not impossible. Registered! Welcome back.

Still plenty of 0.05BTC and 0.025BTC slots available. What, don't people like getting paid?

Have you guys considered raising payments for the participants? I'm sure that will get more people in the campaign. Grin
2008  Other / Off-topic / Re: North Korea Government(Responsible) and Sony..It's embarrassing on: December 20, 2014, 02:59:45 AM
The interesting thing is they used these same tactics with Iraq to convince us all and of course they're not going to release any actual evidence to the public to give themselves credibility. I'm not convinced that it's actually North Korea but a group who could have easily tricked the amateurs tracking them.

The U.S. authorities claim North Korea is behind it. They are not "amateurs".

No, they might not be amateurs, but they're certainly an interested party. As Lethn pointed out, that wouldn't be the first time a similar tactic was used.

Just an update from us. There are now over 800 products for sale on the marketplace.

We've been featured on CoinDesk. You can read it here - http://www.coindesk.com/meet-onewallet-new-auction-site-bitcoiners/

This thread has become an advertisement thread for paypal/ebay's competition.

2010  Economy / Gambling / Re: WIN88.ME - 2K FAUCET - AUTOBET - INVEST - DICE | LOTTO | RPSLS on: December 17, 2014, 05:04:40 AM
You guys shouldn't complain. Its good that they manually approve them. Imagine if your account got hacked and you lost your BTC.
How would they know it's a hacker doing the cashout though.

What? What do you mean the hacker is doing the cashout?

It was an hypothetical question: adaseb was arguing the delay in withdrawals helped security (in the case of a hacked account for example), and Bonez0r asked how they would know whether it was a hacker or the original user doing the withdrawal, in that hypothetical case. As far as I know, there is no hacker currently cashing out from Win88.me. Tongue
2011  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is European Union Fundamentally doomed... on: December 17, 2014, 04:51:22 AM
You are absolutely correct. This, right here, is the paradox that will ultimately either destroy humanity or mold it into something new entirely. The 'world' is pushing for complete unification of its parts, this has been the case since the beginning. The concept/idea of unification is certainly very appealing on some level, it brings about consolidation, strengthens the sense of belonging, increases efficiency, amplifies the cozy "we're all in the same boat" feeling that helps keep people docile, etc. However the employed method is flawed. The 'world' is working toward its goal the only way it knows how, using power. The problem is that power is uncompromisingly double-edged, for every hundred that it rallies to the cause, 100 more is alienated. And neither of the 2 groups formed are 100% pure, they carry within them the divided feelings imparted to them by the whole. You'll never find a human with 100% allegiance to something, while this is not an issue in itself, you have to remember that the world is forcibly dragging all of its parts along a very specific path. The more well-defined the world gets, the stronger the bind it exerts on its parts. This results in internal pressure that only builds up as the world moves forward. Two possibilities: 1) the world achieves complete unification (100%) - this happens when its binding strength transcends free will and becomes irrevocable. 2) the world self-destructs - this happens when internal pressure reaches unsustainable levels.
It's not all gloomy though, as long as you have free will, you can still change  Smiley (assuming of course that you don't fall prey to the proverbial ego along the way  Cheesy )

It's true that many of the internal and external policies being followed are based on power, on imposing "our" will on others, which as you say, divides as much (or even more) than it unites. But these aren't laws of nature, or the only way in which the world, and human society, knows how to work - again, this seems to me to be the path consciously chosen by those in power (in the several forms it manifests), which also happen to be those that typically profit the most from said policies. Of course, the population at large can be manipulated to support these efforts; but I don't believe it reflects most people's wants, or needs, or even a belief in force as being the only path available to enact change in the world. Now, that isn't to say society isn't to blame, to some extent, by accepting and going along with these policies, but that goes to my previous point: that is changing, and more quickly the more connected and aware we all are.

On a more general note, I found the following episode of Head to Head with Viviane Reding, the former vice president of the European Commission, to be quite interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liLeHHFwDM8 ("Head to Head - Europe: Is the Union over?", 47m29s). It covers several issues, like the democratic deficit and austerity in Europe, though not to as great a depth as I would like. And, even if I disagree with a lot of what Viviane Reding said, I still admire her going through with it - especially knowing how hard hitting the questions in this program usually are.

Very real. Actually the Greys are demonic entities who are called aliens. Steve Jobs used their technology to forward the Apple Brand. Notice the bite out of the apple (The forbidden fruit) and then the grand finale that proves it is not from the tinfoil hat brigade:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmBoqaCyPb4

The symbology is compelling isn't it.

Personally, I think it would be far more compelling if someone could point to the reasoning that leads from "Apple using alien/demonic technology" to "therefore, they must have a logo that shows aliens/demons" when manipulated in a very specific way. If you can't present a reasonable path from one thing to the other, you've likely just randomly searched all over until you found something that suited your purposes, regardless of whether or not it has any real connection. Yeah, I'm not sure that video helped prove it is not from the tinfoil hat brigade. Grin If you look long and hard enough for something, you will eventually find it - but that doesn't mean there is necessarily a logical connection in there somewhere to be made.

2014  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should dogs be citizens? It’s not as crazy as you think. on: December 17, 2014, 01:06:38 AM
That's impressive, thanks for sharing.

I do believe the next big leap in human morality will be the way we understand and treat other sentient beings.

Not that I disagree with you, but judging by how we misunderstand and mistreat each other - often for completely stupid reasons - we still have a long way to go before that next leap.
2015  Other / Off-topic / Re: What YouTube video are you watching now? on: December 17, 2014, 12:42:26 AM

I get sent to a page that says, "You must create a channel to upload videos."

He sent the wrong link; but if you replace the "edit" with "watch", and the "o" and "video_id" options with "v", you get the right video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnp6NU0VuaM, "Genesis Mining, Great Bitcoin Mining Service in the Cloud") - not sure it's worth the time though. Tongue
2016  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: December 16, 2014, 11:50:15 PM
just curious, do you know any software thats free that offers that?

im not a coder or anything like that.. so those scripts are not so simple for me.

Hmm, it's something quite specific, so it might be difficult to find software that has everything you need right out of the box. Maybe you can find someone that has made software like this available somewhere in the forum (perhaps in the Services section) - hopefully someone else here has a more concrete answer.
2017  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: December 16, 2014, 11:25:13 PM
Anyone know of a guide to running a signature campaign?  I also saw some of the campaigns use an automated process for tracking and sign-up. I'm curious about that too...

I'm not aware of a written guide on how to run a signature campaign, but if you're planning on starting one, it might be a good idea to hire someone with previous experience in the area - they do take a lot of time, and probably patience as well. Also, please use escrow. Smiley

As for automated software for tracking sign-ups, signature changes, and the like, those can be achieved with a few "simple" scripts/bots.
2018  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for people to partner with.. on: December 16, 2014, 09:11:39 AM
You need to provide more information about your skillset, being "tech savvy" is too vague, for instance if you do programming you need to list what language you're proficient in.

I think the "expect program" was actually supposed to be "except program". Smiley
2019  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for people to partner with.. on: December 16, 2014, 02:52:39 AM
Nobody is going to want to partner with you unless the following:

You have lots of money to invest
You have really good ideas that are believably profitable

Perhaps if he could expand a bit on his skills beyond "I'm very tech savy", it would help; other than programming, or what you suggested, some decent Photoshop skills are always useful, for example. Other than that, 3d model creation, sound effects/music creation, translations, and - I've only now noticed his signature: "If you are in need of video or film editing, PM me!" - you should probably add that to the OP BitPhotos.
