2021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: October 24, 2023, 02:39:02 PM
Well, unfortunately I haven’t been able to get AI to flat out predict the winner of sporting events yet. Sure, there’s ways around it with nonsense, but I’d really like to get the AI’s genuine opinion of who the winner of a sporting event will be. I guess this is still a no-no in the world of AI, but I’m certain it’s only a matter of time.
2022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 24, 2023, 01:22:06 PM
NBA basketball is on TV tonight! It’s back baby! The offseason seemed like a flash with all the trades and team ups. Looks like the big outstanding question left over is the outcome of the James Harden situation. Seems like he might start the year off pouting and being missing from team activities. Not a good look for Harden or the NBA.

I’ve been too busy to really comment much lately and frankly things have been a bit boring in Bitcoin land. But damn! What a nice surprise. Massive pump, large page count increase, page parity, green candles, trains, helicopters, modems, and rusty pipes!

Seems like the exciting part of the bull market is back baby!
Yes, it looks very nice and exciting. And there will be more pumps in the future. Bitcoin will now go down a bit again (this is the rule). But some people cannot control their greed and now they will pounce on Bitcoin. Which will empty their pockets.

Be careful. Wait for good time.

Bitcoin’s price is holding up pretty well so far. I think people are trying to beat the ETF rally and are having a bit of fomo as a result. A pump this big isn’t just random. Somebody knows something and is scooping up a whole lot of coins. I think this type of rally will happen quite a few times over the next year or so. Be ready and hold on tight.

Just one more sleep until NBA basketball kicks off. I think with the Damian Lillard trade the Bucks became the team to beat in the East and I think the pickup of Bradley Beal makes the Suns the team to beat in the West. I think the Warriors will have another good year along with the Celtics and Nuggets, but I think the Bucks take home the crown this year.
2028  Other / Politics & Society / Re: War and conflict on: October 22, 2023, 07:44:15 PM
China just sent 6 warships to the Middle East, it really is getting worse and we may really be seeing an all-out war in the region. tension is running high. If I were from anywhere near that region, I would start moving out early morning tomorrow. Time to get ready I'd probably ride to Tibet. High ground  Grin

They chose war this time. The superpowers protecting their interest in that region and the citizens are dying.

From what I read the story of China’s warships is being misreported and the ships have been there for nearly half a year now. The fact we’re sending a warship to seemingly threaten them makes me think that China is ready to make its move to exploit the weak Joe Biden administration. This will (hopefully) be the final disaster of the Biden Presidency and I hope the loss of life is kept at a minimum.
2029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 22, 2023, 06:32:49 PM
I believe that not keeping records does make you a bad gambler, but not necessarily at gambling, but at recording your gains and losses for tax recording purposes. That could land you in some hot water with the law and I can assure you that they would consider you a bad gambler for not having the necessary information they need to verify your taxes.
2030  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Mr. Bitcoin is about to go down big." - Jim Cramer on: October 22, 2023, 06:31:01 PM
At this point it’s so obvious that Jim Cramer’s job is to use the peon’s to overbuy and oversell assets that he’s trying to love the price on to get himself or his clients a more attractive buy or sell point. It’s been obvious for so long that it’s now a running joke. The sad part is that I’m sure he has fans who are retirees and are losing their life savings following his picks.

Bad news for the Grizzlies just as the season is about to kick off. Their center Steven Adams is having knee surgery and will be out for the entire year. This is especially bad in my opinion because the Grizzlies have issues and Steven Adam’s is a great person with a lot of influence over his teammates and I think a big part of the reason he’s on that team is to keep Ja Morant in check.
2032  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 22, 2023, 10:30:45 AM
Looking at a two year chart of Bitcoin’s price and I think it’s the most bullish chart setup I’ve ever seen. Of course that probably means we’re in for a big drop since what the market does best is takes people’s money, but I feel pretty confident at the moment that we’re about to start heading upward in a major way in the somewhat near future.

In the game against the Warriors, it was amusing to see Wiggins guarding Wemby. Wiggins is known for his defensive skills, but he didn't match up well with Wemby and he look like a little boy against a giant. The Spurs emerged victorious in that battle. However, I also noticed a weakness in Wemby - he seemed to run out of energy. This could be a factor he needs to work on, especially when facing teams like the Warriors who play at a high pace. If he can't keep up with the game's tempo, it might force the Spurs to bench Wemby which is not what we want to see.

Yeah, the Spurs won the game. Wemby put up 19 points in just 20 minutes of play, which seems about right for a preseason game. But you could tell he got a bit winded in that one, and who wouldn't? It was a small-ball game by the Warriors, and that can really tire out the opposition, especially if they're used to playing with big guys. Maybe that's why Tacko Fall and Boban Marjanovic don't see a lot of minutes on their teams, as they can't keep up with the fast-paced game. But Wemby's still young, he showed some special skills, and I'm sure there's plenty of time for him to develop his game.

As for Kristaps Porzingis (7-3), he earned some good minutes with his team, so it can vary from player to player, I guess.

I’ve been really surprised how well Wemby has been playing. I wonder if it’s just because of the preseason or what. I haven’t seen him getting bullied too much down low. I suspect that is going to change as soon as the regular season starts. I was totally wrong about LaMelo Ball though so maybe I’ll be surprised.

What a day for Islam Makhachev!
It is not easy to beat Volkanovski and it is even harder to do it with a KO, but Makhachev proved he is better fighter after beating him again, and he made Khabib proud.

So true mate, it was a hard day for Volkanovski, KO in the first round was just brutal for a guy like him, but I totally understand why Islam attacked that way, he just wanted to avoid what happened in the past fight, so, this time he has to go all in.

And my prediction about the Russian guy on his debut was right, it was an easy x1.4 as I mentioned before, too bad I missed the fight, it was too early morning for me, but I will search for the replay. For sure it was a crazy one.

Islam definitely caught him with a good kick that put him out. His cuts and the blood afterward looked gnarly. Seemed like Volkanovski just wasn’t ready for that.

A similar story with Usman and Khamzat. I think the fighters we’ve grown to love over the years have just gotten too old and now there is a new generation of fighters ready to own all the belts.
2035  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 21, 2023, 06:17:32 PM
Well, it looks like the market has retraced that move back up to $30K as expected. I think the dips below $30K aren’t going to last forever, so take advantage when they come from here on out. I suspect in another 18 months you will look like a genius if you bought below $40K, so don’t sit on the fence trying to grab the bottom, just make sure you’re getting in the game.
2036  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 21, 2023, 05:47:34 PM
Kamaru Usman vs Khamzat Chimaev is the only fight I’m really interested in watching. Usman is a beast but Khamzat has been on a tear making his opponents look like unskilled children out there. The odds don’t make this an interesting bet unless you’re going for Usman, and I think he has a decent shot at winning, but I think I’ll just enjoy watching this one.
2037  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: October 21, 2023, 10:14:41 AM
Elon Musk decided it would be a good idea to do a live fire test on the Cybertruck, so he emptied a drum from a Tommy gun into the side of it as a test supposedly if tweets are to be believed. He also confirmed that not a single bullet made it into the cabin. Then what did they do? They drove the Cybertruck around town to show it off.

Andre Iguodala just retired. The guy has managed to get a lot of achievements during his entire 19 years NBA seasons of his career.

--> https://andscape.com/features/golden-state-warriors-forward-andre-iguodala-retires-its-just-the-right-time/

Do you think that his jersey is also going to be retired by the Golden State Warriors? I am pretty sure that Steph's will be but don't know about his.

He truly deserves to have his jersey hung because he was one of the major reasons behind the Warriors' success when they won a championship. He was named Finals MVP in 2015, and his ability to limit LeBron, who is the best player of the Cavaliers, was a key part of their victory. He successfully guarded LeBron throughout that series.

I can confidently say that he had a fulfilling career in the NBA. As we all know, a player's ultimate satisfaction comes from winning a championship, and Iggy achieved that with Curry and the rest of the big three.

Iggy going to the Warriors was the moment when the dynasty was created. Without him, the Warriors would not have had the success they did against LeBron.

Speaking of the Warriors, Wemby had a pretty nice highlight tonight swatting Klay Thompson and then getting a monster dunk on a fast break the other way. It was impressive.
2039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New problems with the NVIDIA RTX 3080 video card on: October 20, 2023, 10:46:23 PM
I hadn’t heard this one but developing a blue substance inside sounds like a problem that you probably don’t want to have when it comes to an expensive electrical device with a very high operating temperature. Sounds more like an episode of Breaking Bad than a report on graphics card issues. Hope they got this issue figured out.
2040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hey Bitcoiners Choose Simplicity Over Complex Technicalities on: October 20, 2023, 09:44:32 PM
There are always choices in how to store one’s Bitcoin and I would even suggest people choosing more than one method. For many users it is a tightrope of how to store your coins though. They want simplicity without someone being able to get their private key from a sticky note on their monitor, but also don’t want to mess something up and lose all their coins.
