The longer the Israeli-Palestinian conflict goes on and the more casualties there are, the more pressure there will be on Israel I'm afraid (to say nothing of the further radicalization of the population in both countries). Hopefully the Israeli government/population will realize its reputation is rapidly worsening and that the occupation is unsustainable and move towards a peaceful resolution; wishful thinking, I know. A two state solution will never work if the Palestinian state is ruled by Islam extremist. Egypt and Jordan should stabilize Gaza and West bank and build a real government.

That is a big part of the issue. You have committed extremists with a history of violence as the potential government. When they don't like the way negotiations go they blow up buses filled with civilians and start launching rockets into population centers. I think the Palestinians would be better off as citizens of Israel with full political rights. There are a lot of Arabs all ready living rather peacefully in places like Tel Aviv.

I don't think Israel is interested in the solutions you're proposing, be it a one or two state solution. A one state solution would pose a "demographic problem", in that there would be too many Arabs, threatening the Jewishness of the state... A two state solution is also not the solution Israel wants; instead, their tactic has always been to stall negotiations, isolate the occupied territories, and then expand settlements in the West Bank to cover important areas (access to water, farmland, etc), either driving out the Palestinian population or effectively cutting them off from the outside world, creating areas comparable to Bantustans but without the need for the indigenous population, as was the case in South Africa (they largely rely on Chinese labor last I checked).

As for the Arab population already living in Israel, let's not forget that they are still treated as second class citizens, subject to a lot of discrimination, ranging from how they are portrayed in the public discourse, to an imbalance in the distribution of resources that leaves many Arab communities impoverished, and with limited access to education and healthcare.

'Israel drops cancer-inducing bombs on Gazans'
Quote
A Norwegian doctor in the besieged Gaza Strip has strongly criticized Israel for using cancer-inducing bombs against Palestinian civilians.

Dr. Erik Fosse told Press TV that the majority of patients hospitalized in Gaza are civilians injured in attacks on their homes and about thirty percent of them are children.

Dense Inert Metal Explosive, known as DIME, is an explosive device developed to minimize collateral damage in warfare.

Experts say it has a relatively small but effective blast radius and is believed to have strong biological effects on those who are hit by the bomb’s micro-shrapnel.

Fosse, a department head at a university hospital in Oslo, also says some Palestinian in the besieged enclave have been wounded by a new type of weapon that even doctors with previous experience in war zones do not recognize.

Israel also used depleted-uranium and white phosphorus shells in the besieged region during their previous assaults.

Video and more...http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2014/07/13/371162/israel-drops-cancerinducing-bombs-on-gaza/
lol.

Iranian news as a source? Get real.

Attacking the source doesn't disprove the accusations. Israel initially denied, but eventually had to admit to using white phosphorous rounds in Gaza in the 2008/2009 war, on densely populated areas, even ending up hitting a UN compound with them. In relation to depleted uranium and DIME rounds, it is widely believed that Israel used these types of weapons since at least 2006, and the cancer inducing effects of these types of ammunition have been studied for over a decade; Iraqi civilians, for example, are still suffering from these effects with the depleted uranium rounds used by the US.

Selling accounts is allowed by forum rules.

True, it is allowed in the current rules, but it really shouldn't be IMHO.

Well, unfortunately there would be no way to enforce such a rule, so the idea here seems to be: it's better for people to see that this is going on and be more careful when doing trades (even with people with positive feedback), than for people to be caught unaware. Roll Eyes

Google owns chrome and "charity" mozilla.

I use

http://www.palemoon.org/palemoon-x64.shtml

Google doesn't own Mozilla as such, but it is true that the vast majority of Mozilla's revenue comes from Google, due to the search engine use. Still, Firefox is open source, which helps mitigate any influence Google might have over them.

2486  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: July 20, 2014, 01:26:50 AM
Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism?
I think that both - Socialism or Capitalism have good and weak points.
Capitalism is more oriented to the owners and capital, what is good but less oriented to the workers, what is bad.
Socialism is more oriented toward workers but less toward owners and capital.
WE need balance approach and more market control by the government, in my opinion.
This would be impossible.

Socialism and Capitalism are two opposite types of economies. Socialism takes money from the successful and gives to the lazy while capitalism rewards hard work.

Capitalism is obviously the answer as the lazy will be punished and the hard working will be rewarded.

You do realize that not everyone that gets punished in capitalism is necessarily lazy, and not everyone that is successful is necessarily a hard worker (or even productive), right? This also completely ignores different starting conditions for everyone: being born to a wealthy family and having more access to education and resources will give you an edge others won't have, further distorting the playing field.

There is no solution to poverty.
we are not all equal, some people are smarter and more capable than others and will always be richer.
socialism doesn't doesn't take people out of poverty, it drags the successful down to poverty.

I'm not sure what definition of poverty you're operating under, but it doesn't seem like it would be most people's definition. Tongue I do agree that it would tend to bring everyone to the same level however.
2487  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you earn money online? on: July 19, 2014, 03:57:35 AM
I earn money from my blog and freelance.com  Grin

I have tried freelancer.com before but never really earn good from it. Might try using it again and see if I can get good paying jobs there.  Wink

On sites like freelancer, odesk, and the like, it's essential to either have a very good reputation, and/or a lot of luck, if you want the high paying jobs. So, try doing a few small, fast, low paying jobs first to build up your reputation, before going for the high paying ones.
2488  Other / Off-topic / Re: A quick settings question for users of Code::Blocks on: July 18, 2014, 11:15:28 PM
I've just started learning C programming, using Code::Blocks as my IDE. I've got a quick question about the program settings I'm hoping someone can help me with.

Whenever I start typing in a printf, this little box pops in with some text I don't understand. It looks like an auto-complete feature or maybe a code suggestion, but it's very distracting since I'm still new to learning the language and it blocks parts of the code I've already typed in. For what it's worth, this is the string I'm referring to:

Quote
printf(): _CRTIMP int __cdec1 __MINGW_NOTHROW

Is there a way to turn this off? I've gone through the editor settings, but I either a) don't see it in there, or b) don't recognize it as such (a lot of the settings I don't understand quite yet).

Thanks to anyone who can help me out! It's a dumb little issue, but I figure it can't hurt to ask.

I don't know what version of Code::Blocks you're using, but at least in version 13.12 you can disable code completion in: Settings -> Editor... -> Code Completion (the 9th down) -> Code Completion Tab -> Disable code-completion. Alternatively, instead of disabling everything, you can just disable the "Automatically launch when typed # letters", which is a little further down.

I'm from Cape Town South Africa... don't suppose there's a lot of us here on this forum  Huh

Apparently not; people here seem to be mostly from the EU and then the US. Still, considering countries/regions have been added after many people voted, they could be hiding in the "Rest of the World". Perhaps Acidyo should allow us to change the vote, if that option is still possible after the poll has been created. Tongue

banned for a creepy reason ..

Banned for not banning someone for the reason of not having banned the person above him for working with Java, instead of a decent programming language.
2491  Other / Off-topic / Re: Earth is hollow on: July 18, 2014, 09:00:33 PM
You're delusional if you think I don't mean what I say.

Was Jesus a troll for telling people about eternal paradise then resurrecting after he was crucified for his 'trolling'?

Remember that many people aren't religious, and/or don't believe he actually did do such a thing; after all, it's not like the stories you read about it were written at the time that supposedly happened. So, maybe he wasn't a troll, but you could say his followers (at least the ones who wrote the books) were. Tongue

By calculating the gravitational effect of the earth, scientists have found out that the mean density of earth is 5.515 g/cm3. But the crustal density is only 2 g/cm3. That means that the interior of the earth is much denser than the outer layers.

Playing the devil's advocate here, that could just mean that relatively well distributed portions of the Earth were hollow, and the rest made up of a previously unknown denser material... yes, I know, I'm grasping at straws here. Tongue

In order to stop spam posts, I think Stunna should lower the max post per month to 50 or 100 posts

In my opinion, he should take down the pay per post structure altogether.  There will be much less spam.

It may eventually reduce spam overall, but notice that people who are spamming for the extra btc will simply create/buy other accounts and carry on with it. Now, maybe most people won't go through the trouble of doing it, but I agree with zolace here: getting rid of spammers, and maybe even giving negative trust to the worst offenders, seems to me to be the most effective way of handling it, while at the same time not penalizing people who post a lot of constructive posts.

On the other hand, as MICRO found out the hard way, it's a lot of work for one person to go through it all Wink (thanks for taking the initiative by the way). So, either all of us checking on each others' posts throughout the month and flagging spam posts and posting on this thread, or Stunna paying a small group of people to check the posts at the end of the month, would probably be a better idea.

Just ignore this Bobsurplus guy. What a piece of subhuman scum.

The sad part is that, though he might not even realize it, he is just helping to tarnish Israel's image even further.

Russia and China and other countries are in the side of Gaza. If they started something your fucking IsraHell and US won't be able to hide in their mother's ass!

you realize that china and russia are friends of israel and despite what they condem could care less about gaza and will never help.

israel has fought off the palis when all the odds were against them with no outside help. if the palis cared about peace there would be peace, but all they care about is driving the jews into the sea.

And what peace would that be that Israel wants exactly? Because last I checked, they seemed more interested in advancing settlements (even to the point of sabotaging negotiations), demolishing Palestinian homes, building permanent checkpoints well inside occupied territory, appropriating farmland and water resources vital for the survival of the Palestinian population, interference with internal Palestinian politics, destruction of vital infrastructure inside the occupied territories, and the separation and isolation of Gaza and the West Bank, which make me doubt they have any intentions whatsoever of reaching an agreement. It's easy for the occupying power to say that it wants peace after taking whatever it wants from those it is oppressing; but it's nothing but empty rhetoric.

And then, having Gaza as a prison they can attack every two or so years is far too profitable for weapons manufacturers, that then use the videos of these attacks to serve as promotional material for their sales... I wish I was making that up, but unfortunately it is that sick.

You must be Fatah then. A massive ground attack is starting and you have been told to get out or risk death. Hope you read the leaflets.

Good luck. You'll need it.

They're trapped in what could be better described as an overpopulated open air prison, without appropriate shelters, where most of the population is already a refugee, and neither Egypt nor Israel will allow them to leave. Where exactly are they supposed to go?

Start swimming, hope you know how to tread water for a few days...

Yes, I thought so... kill men, women and children, who cares about them anyway... and why am I even bothering talking to people like you?

If only hitler went after tte jews nd nobody else,  he couldve succeeded.  Cry

Don't be stupid. It's about time people stopped slaughtering each other for no good reason.

No jews = no pointless slaughter.

In case you haven't noticed, Jews are human beings too; in fact, what Israel is now doing is what Europe did for centuries all throughout the world, and then continued in settler colonial societies. In other words, they are no different than anyone else. Now, what they are doing is wrong, and we should do what we can to stop them, but your line of reasoning will only lead to people thinking: well, antisemitism is alive and well, so we'd better do everything we can to protect ourselves, even if at the expense of others.

Is there any hard deadline for the claiment? Local time is still 16 here, but international time seems it is 17 still, so I don't know if I can claim already.

You can claim it now if you want. Stunna made a post about this earlier today:

Do we have to submit the collect-form today or how long could we theoretically wait for this month? What timezone counts?

Anytime is fine, expect payment in ~48 hours though.

Also please do not send me PM's I will take a long time to read them/get back to you.
2499  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Israel: Operation Protective Edge on: July 17, 2014, 12:43:05 AM
I would disagree that Israel should be blamed as they are not the aggressor but is rather defending themselves from terrorists. They have tried many times to reach peace agreements, and have tried to spare the citizens of Gaza, but the terrorists have decided to instead use the citizens as human shields.

I find it amazing that people say these things without bothering to fact check any of it.

Perhaps you missed current events, but the Palestinians have been occupied for the last half century by Israel; I don't know about you, but I consider that to be a form of aggression, especially considering the sub-human conditions Israel is intentionally imposing on them - you know, the whole "keep them almost at a level consistent with an humanitarian crisis", as we know from Wikileaks. That isn't consistent with someone who is claiming to be "defending" themselves from an aggressor, and wanting to reach peace.

And how exactly is Israel trying to spare civilians while keeping them under fire from artillery, naval warships, and air strikes, which have left 80% of all casualties being civilian? Also, even if Hamas is using their own population as human shields, what gives Israel the right to murder them anyway?

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to add - Israel also has a tendency to hit vital infrastructure each time it attacks the occupied territories. I haven't seen this confirmed elsewhere yet, but this time it seems to have affected the water supply, which may end up leaving up to a third of the population in Gaza without access to water.

I have no idea; I don't think I have ventured to that thread yet, but feel free to post it there if no one mentioned it before. Smiley

I saw something recently that they found new oceans underground at the depth of about 500km. So it can't be hollow.

Its called a cave system the whole earth is not hollow... Cheesy
